Families on the state route in Hubballi-Dharwad deal with the Karnataka School Examination and Assessment Board at two points: the SSLC at the end of Class 10 and the II PUC at the end of the two PU years. Both exams are unusually well documented. For every main subject the board publishes a blueprint setting out the number of one-, two-, four- or eight-mark questions and the weight given to each chapter, and its PU student corner adds model papers and other material. A good state board tutor plans from those documents. This page reads several closely, with a focus that the city's commerce and arts students will find useful: the 2026–27 II PUC blueprints for Economics, Business Studies, Statistics and Basic Mathematics. It also covers the SSLC language and subject choices, second sittings, a plan from Class 9 to II PUC, tutors in six localities of the twin city, and the questions worth putting to a tutor before you commit.
Founded in 1966 under the name Karnataka Secondary Education Examination Board, KSEAB was renamed in 2022. Besides the SSLC and the II PUC, it runs the Karnataka Open School examinations and exams in teacher education (D.El.Ed), music and commerce. Its head office is in Bengaluru, with divisional offices in Bengaluru, Belagavi, Kalaburagi and Mysuru.
Two websites carry what families need. kseab.karnataka.gov.in holds the SSLC notices and the subject-wise blueprints for Class 10. For II PUC, the student corner lives on a separate PU exam portal, dpue-exam.karnataka.gov.in. Dates, rules and forms should always be taken from those two sites, in the current year's version.
The board's 2026–27 SSLC blueprint page lists the papers in four groups. Seeing the full list helps a family check early that the tutor covers the right combination.
| Group | Papers with a published blueprint |
|---|---|
| First language | Kannada, Telugu, Hindi, Marathi, Tamil, Urdu, Sanskrit, and two English papers, one of them based on NCERT |
| Second language | English and Kannada |
| Core subjects | Mathematics, Science and Social Science |
| Alternate subjects | Hindustani Music, Carnatic Music, Sociology, Economics and Political Science |
| JTS subjects | Elements of Electrical Engineering, Elements of Mechanical Engineering, and Programming in ANSI C |
For the three core subjects, the blueprint is the plan: it shows which chapters carry the most marks and how the one- to five-mark questions are spread. Our maths and science pages for the city cover those papers. If your child takes an alternate or JTS subject, say so in the request, since not every tutor teaches them.
The list above shows how many language routes the SSLC allows. A child in Hubballi-Dharwad might take Kannada as a first language with English second, or English first with Kannada second, or another first language such as Marathi, Hindi or Urdu. Each has its own blueprint, so a language tutor must teach to the paper your child will actually sit, not to a general idea of the language.
Medium matters just as much for maths, science and social science. Kannada-medium families, for instance in older parts of Dharwad such as Hosayellapur, can ask for tutors who teach in Kannada; others want English medium throughout. The sensible rule for a bilingual child is to talk through ideas in whichever language makes them clear, then write every practice answer in the medium of the exam, with the textbook's terms. When you ask for a tutor, give the medium, the first and second languages and the language spoken at home. Families who have moved from another state can also ask for help with Kannada as a second language; our English home tutors in Hubballi-Dharwad page covers English at both levels.
After SSLC, the PU course runs for two years, I PUC and II PUC, in a chosen combination of subjects. The board's 2026–27 II PUC blueprint list shows how wide the choice is. Alongside the languages, it covers the sciences (Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Biology, Electronics, Computer Science, Geology, Home Science), commerce and social science subjects (Accountancy, Business Studies, Economics, Statistics, Basic Mathematics, History, Geography, Political Science, Sociology, Psychology, Logic, Education, Hindustani Music), and vocational subjects including Retail, Information Technology, Automobile, Electronics and Hardware, Apparel Made-ups and Home Furnishing, and Beauty and Wellness.
For tuition, the combination decides everything. A science student usually needs help in physics, chemistry and mathematics or biology; a commerce student in accountancy, economics, business studies and often statistics or basic maths. The next four sections look at four commerce and arts papers in detail. Families still choosing can read our article on choosing a board and a stream.
The 2026–27 blueprint for Economics (subject 22) sets an 80-mark paper in five parts, with choice in all but the first.
| Part | Question type | Answer | Marks |
|---|---|---|---|
| A | One-mark | All 20 | 20 |
| B | Two-mark | 6 of 10 | 12 |
| C | Four-mark | 5 of 9 | 20 |
| D | Six-mark | 3 of 5 | 18 |
| E | Five-mark | 2 of 3 | 10 |
The course has two halves. Introductory Microeconomics has five units, the largest of them Theory of Consumer Behaviour. Introductory Macroeconomics has six, led by National Income Accounting, with Money and Banking and Open Economy Macroeconomics next. Those three units together carry a large share of the paper's weight, and the consumer behaviour unit can supply a question of every type. A tutor should make sure the student can draw and explain the standard diagrams from memory, work national income figures without slips, and write a six-mark answer that is structured rather than long. Because Part A allows no choice, no unit can be left out entirely.
Business Studies (subject 27) is also an 80-mark paper, in four parts: twenty one-mark questions, six of ten two-mark questions, six of ten four-mark questions and three of five eight-mark questions.
| Unit | Weight in the blueprint | Eight-mark question? |
|---|---|---|
| Marketing | 21 | Yes |
| Staffing | 16 | Yes |
| Nature and Significance of Management | 12 | Yes |
| Organising | 12 | Yes |
| Directing | 12 | Yes |
| Six other units, from Principles of Management to Consumer Protection | 7 to 9 each | No |
The lesson is clear. The five eight-mark questions come from five named units, and a student answers three of them, so those units deserve full, well-organised practice answers with headings and points in order. The six smaller units still feed the one-, two- and four-mark parts. A tutor should set one eight-mark answer a week in the board year and mark it for structure and completeness, not just content.
| Part | What it contains | Marks |
|---|---|---|
| A | 15 one-mark questions and a match-the-following question with five one-mark parts | 20 |
| B | Two-mark questions, 5 of 8 answered | 10 |
| C | Five-mark questions, 6 of 11 answered | 30 |
| D | Ten-mark questions, 2 of 3 answered | 20 |
Eight units make up the course. Theoretical Distributions carries the most weight, followed by Operations Research, then Index Numbers and Statistical Inference. The three ten-mark questions are drawn from Vital Statistics, Index Numbers and Time Series. Half the paper sits in five- and ten-mark problems, so a Statistics tutor's main job is long, tidy working: tables laid out properly, formulas written before substitution, and answers interpreted in a sentence. Speed comes from practice on the board's own model papers.
Basic Mathematics (subject 75) is a separate paper from Mathematics (subject 35). Its 2026–27 blueprint spreads 80 marks over 21 units, from Matrices and Determinants, the largest, to Definite Integrals. Several units are commercial: Bill Discounting, Stocks and Shares, Sales Tax and Value Added Tax, Learning Curve and Linear Programming Problems. The paper has twenty one-mark questions, six of nine two-mark, six of nine three-mark and four of seven five-mark questions, and ends with one of two ten-mark questions, each split into six- and four-mark parts drawn from Binomial Theorem, Heights and Distances, Circles, and Limits and Continuity.
With so many small units, a skipped chapter is easy to miss until the paper. A tutor should keep a checklist of all 21 and tick each one off in practice, then use full model papers in the last term. Our maths home tutors in Hubballi-Dharwad can teach either paper; say which one your child takes.
The PU examination portal's student corner is the most useful single page for a II PUC family. For the current year it links the subject blueprints and model question papers, and tentative timetables for Exam-1 and Exam-2. It also carries the notices on revaluation and retotalling, guides for repeater and private candidates, an FAQ for the main examination, a circular on II PU passing marks and a circular on the question bank. A tutor should work from these documents rather than from a guidebook, and read the circulars with the family whenever a rule matters, since they change from year to year.
According to the board, the SSLC takes place in March or April, with a further sitting in June for candidates who did not clear the main exam. On the PU side, the student corner carries timetables for both Exam-1 and Exam-2, together with guides for repeater registration. It helps to know these routes exist. Even so, a tutor should build the year around the first attempt, and if a second one is ever needed, the rules should be read afresh from that year's notices.
| Stage | What the tutor concentrates on | What to work from |
|---|---|---|
| Class 9 | Algebra, geometry and science foundations, plus the habit of neat diagrams and written steps | The state textbooks, one chapter at a time |
| Class 10, the SSLC year | Revising in proportion to each chapter's weight, while touching every chapter at least once | This year's SSLC blueprint and earlier papers done against the clock |
| I PUC | Getting comfortable in the chosen combination, especially any subject that is new, such as accountancy or statistics | The PU textbooks, with a handful of exam-style questions after each chapter |
| II PUC | Complete papers set to the blueprint, science records kept up, and space for an entrance test where one is planned | Blueprints, model question papers and the circulars in the student corner |
For a PU science student, II PUC is often taken alongside an entrance exam. The Karnataka CET is run by the Karnataka Examinations Authority, whose admission portal also handles UG NEET admissions to state seats; read its current bulletin for the rules. JEE Main and NEET are conducted by the National Testing Agency. In every case, written board answers and practical records should stay in practice all year. Our JEE and NEET pages for Hubballi-Dharwad explain how to share the work, and the KCET tutor page for Bengaluru discusses the state test. The city's physics, chemistry and biology pages cover the science papers, and for children outside the state board there are our CBSE and ICSE and ISC pages.
| Locality | Homes and setting | Tip for the first visit |
|---|---|---|
| Hosayellapur | One of Dharwad's oldest localities, near Gandhi Chowk; Kannada-medium families can ask for tutors who teach in Kannada | Describe your street by the nearest chowk or a known shop |
| Kalyan Nagar | A quiet colony of family homes south-east of Saptapur | The nearest park or playground is a simple landmark |
| Navanagar | Housing board homes, houses and apartments on the corridor between the cities | Give the block or layout and the nearest corridor stop |
| Malmaddi | Independent houses around courtyards on a small hill near the railway line | Use the cross road and the railway road as guides |
| Saraswatpur | Older houses with gardens and newer homes on a hillock beside Malmaddi | Say you are on the Saraswatpur side of the hill |
| Vidyagiri | A small locality on a hill known for its schools and colleges | Name the corridor stop you use, signed Vidhyagiri |
The zone pages cover each part of the twin city: Navanagar and the Dharwad Road, Saptapur and Old Dharwad and Malmaddi, Gandhinagar and Vidyagiri. Every locality is on the Hubballi-Dharwad tutors page, and the Hubballi-Dharwad home tuition guide walks through each zone. SSLC maths and science usually justify a tutor at home; in the PU years, pairing a visit at home with a shorter lesson on screen is often easier to keep, as our online tutors for Hubballi-Dharwad page explains. Elsewhere in the state, see Karnataka Board tutors in Bengaluru, Mysuru and Mangaluru, or the city pages for Bengaluru, Mysuru and Mangaluru.
You receive two or three matched tutors for each request and see their fees before any demo. That first lesson is free, and a later change of tutor is free as well. Tutors who join go through an ID check; the Verified badge appears only after the ID check is complete, as our checking page describes. For general demo questions, use our checklist for parents.
Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Each tutor sets their own fee. See the pricing guide and our Hubballi-Dharwad tuition fees article.
In the request, mention the class, the medium, both languages, the PU combination if there is one, your locality and a landmark, and the hours your child is free; then book a free demo. Anyone can look through our tutor profiles, and teachers of SSLC or PU subjects will find local requests under tuition jobs in Hubballi-Dharwad.
Tell us the class, the medium, both languages and any PU combination. Add your locality with a landmark and the hours your child is free. We then suggest two or three matched tutors who teach SSLC or PUC and can reach you, each fee shown before the first class. The first class is a free demo, and switching tutor later is free.
The board's SSLC 2026-27 blueprint page lists seven first languages and two English papers. The seven are Kannada, Telugu, Hindi, Marathi, Tamil, Urdu and Sanskrit, and one English paper is based on NCERT. Second-language blueprints are listed for English and Kannada. A language tutor should teach to the exact paper your child will sit, so name it in the request.
The 2026-27 II PUC Economics paper carries 80 marks in five parts. Students answer all 20 one-mark questions, 6 of 10 two-mark, 5 of 9 four-mark, 3 of 5 six-mark and 2 of 3 five-mark questions. Theory of Consumer Behaviour and National Income Accounting carry the most weight, so diagrams and national income working need steady practice.
In the 2026-27 II PUC Business Studies blueprint, the eight-mark questions come from five units, and a student answers three. The units are Marketing, Staffing, Nature and Significance of Management, Organising and Directing. Marketing carries the most weight. A tutor should set one well-structured eight-mark answer each week in the board year.
II PUC Statistics puts half its 80 marks into long problems: six of eleven five-mark questions and two of three ten-mark questions. The ten-mark questions come from Vital Statistics, Index Numbers and Time Series. A tutor should train tidy tables, formulas written before substitution and a sentence interpreting each answer.
No, Basic Mathematics (subject 75) is a separate paper from Mathematics (subject 35). Its 2026-27 blueprint spreads 80 marks over 21 units, including commercial topics such as Bill Discounting, Stocks and Shares, and Sales Tax and Value Added Tax. With so many short units, a tutor should keep a checklist and tick every unit off in practice.
Yes, Kannada-medium families, for instance in older parts of Dharwad such as Hosayellapur, can ask for tutors who teach in Kannada. Mention the medium, both languages and the language spoken at home in the request. Whatever language is used to explain, every practice answer should be written in the exam's medium with textbook terms.
II PUC students find model papers and circulars in the student corner of the PU exam portal, dpue-exam.karnataka.gov.in. It links the current blueprints and model question papers, Exam-1 and Exam-2 timetables, revaluation and retotalling notices, repeater and private candidate guides, and circulars such as the one on II PU passing marks.
No, plan the year around the first sitting. The board holds the SSLC in March or April and again in June for students who do not pass, and the PU portal lists Exam-1 and Exam-2 timetables and repeater guides. These are safety nets; read that year's notices if a second attempt is ever needed.
Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Each Karnataka Board tutor in Hubballi-Dharwad sets their own fee, shown before the free demo.
