Tutors who join go through an ID check. Tell us the class, board and your area: we share two or three matched tutors, each with their fee, and the first class is a free demo, at home or online.
Book a free demo classAcross NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Tutors set their own fee, and you see each tutor's fee before the demo class.
Monthly example: 3 one-hour classes a week ≈ ₹9,600–₹32,500 a month (12–13 classes at ₹800–₹2,500 an hour). An example, not a quote: your tutor's own fee decides the real figure.

Science changes character in the middle-school years. In Class 6 it is a book of activities; by Class 10 it is physics numericals, balanced equations and biology diagrams, all in one paper or, for ICSE students, three. In Hubballi and Dharwad children get there by different books: state textbooks on the way to the SSLC, the NCERT series in CBSE schools, or whatever titles an ICSE school has chosen. Many also move between Kannada and English along the way. A science tutor should teach from your child's own book, in a language they follow, at an after-school hour that holds. NXTutors suggests two or three tutors who fit, shows each fee before you meet, and the first class is a free demo.
The CBSE and ICSE advice here is written under Aaditya Kashyap's name; the state-syllabus part is drawn from the Karnataka board's own blueprint. The board shapes nearly everything a tutor does, from the order of chapters to the marks a labelled diagram can earn.
| Route | The Class 10 exam | Practise from |
|---|---|---|
| Karnataka state syllabus (SSLC, KSEAB) | A single 80-mark science paper: 38 questions, 13 chapters | State textbook, current blueprint, KSEAB model papers and question bank |
| CBSE | An 80-mark board paper of 39 questions, with 20 marks given in school | NCERT, plus CBSE sample papers and marking schemes on cbseacademic.nic.in |
| ICSE (CISCE) | Three papers, one per science, each carrying its own internal assessment | Books the school has prescribed, and CISCE specimen papers |
Until Class 10 a single tutor across all three sciences tends to suit families, because one person spots when a "physics problem" is really a slip in arithmetic or in reading the question. The national science home tutor page sets out that approach.
KSEAB holds the SSLC every year and runs a second sitting for anyone who does not pass the main one. In its 2026-27 blueprint, science gets one 80-mark paper with the same question mix as maths: sixteen one-mark, eight two-mark, nine three-mark, four four-mark and a single five-mark question. Thirteen chapters are examined, opening with Chemical Reactions and Equations and ending with Our Environment. Blueprints get revised, so for chapter weights rely on the copy currently on kseab.karnataka.gov.in rather than any older guidebook.
Three things matter more than any single year's pattern:
Our Karnataka board tutor in Hubballi-Dharwad page follows a state-syllabus child from Class 9 through the PU years.
Kannada is the language of everyday life across the twin city, and science vocabulary is where a change of medium hurts first. "Refraction", "oxidation" and "chromosome" may be familiar ideas in Kannada and strangers in English. A tutor who speaks both can explain a stuck idea in Kannada, then make sure the written answer, the diagram labels and the units all appear in the language of the exam. Ask for this in your request if it applies; it narrows the shortlist usefully.
The board paper is worth 80. The school adds 20: five marks apiece for periodic tests, multiple assessment, the portfolio and subject enrichment through practicals. Split by branch, biology takes 30 board marks, and chemistry and physics 25 each. By unit:
| Unit | Marks | Stress at home |
|---|---|---|
| Chemical Substances | 25 | Naming, balancing and the acid–base–salt patterns |
| World of Living | 25 | Labelled diagrams and process answers in the right order |
| Effects of Current | 13 | Circuit numericals with a unit on every line |
| Natural Phenomena | 12 | Ray diagrams drawn neatly with arrows |
| Our Environment | 5 | Short and easy, as long as it is revised |
The 2026-27 sample paper has 39 questions: twenty one-mark items (multiple-choice and assertion–reason), six two-mark, seven three-mark, three four-mark items set on a case or source passage, and three long answers of five marks. Only half the paper checks knowledge and understanding; applying ideas earns 30%, and analysing or evaluating earns the last 20%, so memorised answers are not enough. Our CBSE Class 10 science notes go chapter by chapter, and the Class 10 science tutor page lays out the board year.
For 2026-27, school teachers rather than the board paper assess three topics: motors, generators and electromagnetic induction; evolution; and how the periodic table is arranged. They still need proper teaching, since internal marks and Class 11 lean on them. CBSE's curriculum also names 14 experiments that feed board questions, so revise the practical file as seriously as any chapter.
The main Class 10 exam is compulsory for all; a later, optional exam lets eligible students try to raise their marks in up to three subjects, and science can be one. Dates come from cbse.gov.in alone. Prepare as though the first sitting decides everything; the board-year planner maps the months.
For ICSE Class 10 the council examines each science on its own paper with separate internal marks, and the school picks textbooks inside the CISCE syllabus. That makes your child's own books and the council's specimen papers the right base, not an NCERT scheme. Exact definitions and numericals with every step shown collect the bulk of the marks. Many families ask for help in just one of the three, often starting in Class 9. Fewer ICSE science specialists work in the twin city, so put the request in early and stay open to online lessons.
Younger children study in the gap between school and the evening meal, so what matters most is a tutor whose trip to you is short and reliable. Browse tutors by area on our Hubballi-Dharwad page.
In Old Hubli, where the town began, lanes are close-set and house numbers can jump, so name a known circle or shop. Deshpande Nagar merges into Keshwapur and Vidyanagar without a clear edge; give your road and the nearest junction. Its central spot means tutors from many parts of Hubballi can reach it.
Bengeri, on the northern side and known for the khadi unit that makes the national flag, mixes an old village core with newer layouts; say which one you live in. If two children of different ages need science, ask for one tutor who can teach both in a single visit. Unkal is similar: tell the tutor whether you are in the old village by the lake or a newer layout, and name the corridor stop.
Akshay Colony has houses and apartment buildings with everyday shops close by; share block and flat number, and pick a slot an hour after school so your child has eaten. Manjunath Nagar lies off Gokul Road among colonies with similar names, so give the cross road too. Families new to Karnataka there may want help with the state syllabus as well.
In the free demo, hand over the chapter your child did at school today and watch whether these habits appear unasked. Our demo class checklist for parents has more. Not convinced? Another tutor from the shortlist can give a demo instead, and switching tutor later is free.
Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Each tutor fixes their own rate; expect it to reflect the class, how far they travel to reach you and how many lessons a week you book. You can read every fee before the demo; the Hubballi-Dharwad home tuition fees article explains what to ask.
Share the class and board, which of the three sciences worries your child, the language they follow most easily, your locality and a landmark, and the free afternoons. Two or three science tutors come back with their fees; pick one for a free demo. Tutors who join go through an ID check; the Verified badge appears only after the ID check is complete (how we check tutors). Where no good match can travel at that hour, we propose lessons partly or fully online. Our office is in Sector 66, Gurugram, and online classes run across India. Looking ahead to Classes 11 and 12? Try our physics, chemistry and biology pages, or read the Hubballi-Dharwad home tuition guide.

SSLC science in the 2026-27 KSEAB blueprint is one 80-mark paper of 38 questions over 13 chapters. It follows the maths mix: sixteen one-mark, eight two-mark, nine three-mark, four four-mark and one five-mark question. Blueprints are revised, so a Hubballi-Dharwad tutor should plan from the copy on kseab.karnataka.gov.in and the board's model papers.
An SSLC science tutor should use the state textbook and KSEAB's own model question papers, question bank and full-mark answer scripts. These show the answer length and diagram labelling examiners expect. Pair them with a short spoken quiz each lesson, because sixteen one-mark questions reward exact definitions and units.
Yes, and for many children that is the quickest way through a change of medium. The tutor explains a stuck idea in Kannada, then makes sure the written answer, diagram labels and units are in the exam's language. Mention this in your request so NXTutors shortlists tutors who are comfortable in both languages.
The CBSE Class 10 science board paper carries 80 marks and the school adds 20. Biology takes 30 board marks, chemistry and physics 25 each. By unit, Chemical Substances and World of Living carry 25 each, Effects of Current 13, Natural Phenomena 12 and Our Environment 5. Half the paper tests knowledge and understanding, the rest application and analysis.
For 2026-27, three topics are assessed in school: motors, generators and electromagnetic induction; evolution; and the arrangement of the periodic table. A Hubballi-Dharwad tutor should still teach them, since internal marks and Class 11 depend on them. The curriculum also lists 14 experiments that board questions draw on.
One tutor for all three sciences usually suits children up to Class 10, because a single person sees when a physics error is really arithmetic or reading. ICSE is the exception worth planning for: its three separate papers sometimes need a specialist for one subject from Class 9, and those tutors are fewer in the twin city.
Each of these localities needs a different address detail, so put it in the request. In Old Hubli name a known circle or shop, since house numbers can jump. In Bengeri say whether you live in the old village core or a newer layout. In Akshay Colony share the block and flat number, and choose a slot about an hour after school.
NXTutors matches a science tutor from your child's class, board, medium, locality and free hours, then sends two or three matched tutors. Each fee is shown before the first class, which is a free demo. Watch whether the tutor checks diagrams and units in that lesson, and remember that switching tutor later is free.
