Tutors who join go through an ID check. Tell us the class, board and your area: we share two or three matched tutors, each with their fee, and the first class is a free demo, at home or online.
Book a free demo classAcross NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Tutors set their own fee, and you see each tutor's fee before the demo class.
Monthly example: 3 one-hour classes a week ≈ ₹9,600–₹32,500 a month (12–13 classes at ₹800–₹2,500 an hour). An example, not a quote: your tutor's own fee decides the real figure.

In Hubballi and Dharwad, three Class 10 friends on one street can be writing three different maths papers: the Karnataka SSLC, CBSE and ICSE. Two years later the routes split again, into II PUC with the Karnataka CET for some and CBSE Class 12 with JEE Main for others. Many children here first met maths in Kannada and now write it in English. A good match has to fit the paper, the language your child thinks in, and the half of the twin city you live in. Tell NXTutors those three things and we send two or three maths tutors who fit. Each fee is on the shortlist before you meet anyone, and the first class is a free demo.
Two named authors stand behind the exam guidance here: Ajay Vatsyayan for IB, IGCSE and ISC maths, and Abhinandan Tiwary for Class 10 maths on CBSE and ICSE. The Karnataka material comes from the state board's own blueprints and model papers. Find your child's row first, because it settles the textbook, the look of a full-marks answer and the old papers worth a tutor's time.
| Route | Paper set by | Next step for many | Ask the tutor |
|---|---|---|---|
| State syllabus to Class 10 | KSEAB (SSLC) | PU science or commerce | Have you taught from this year's SSLC blueprint? |
| PU science with maths | KSEAB (II PUC) | Karnataka CET, JEE Main or both | How will a week be split between board answers and CET sets? |
| CBSE Classes 10 and 12 | CBSE | JEE, CET, or a stream without maths | Standard or Basic for my child, and on what evidence? |
| ICSE and ISC | CISCE | The same entrance tests as CBSE students | Which exam year's ISC syllabus do you teach from? |
| IB Diploma, Cambridge IGCSE | IB; Cambridge | Degrees in India or overseas | Which course, level or tier have you taught lately? |
The Karnataka School Examination and Assessment Board (KSEAB) runs the SSLC. Set up in 1966 under an older name, the Karnataka Secondary Education Examination Board, it was renamed in 2022 and is headquartered in Bengaluru. It also conducts II PUC, the exam that closes the two pre-university years.
For 2026-27 its blueprint makes SSLC mathematics a single 80-mark paper with 38 questions: sixteen worth one mark, eight worth two, nine worth three, four worth four and one worth five, with internal choice in the larger ones. Fourteen chapters share those marks, and sorting them by weight gives a ready plan for the year:
| Group | Chapters and marks | Tutor's job |
|---|---|---|
| Heaviest (32) | Triangles 9; Pair of Linear Equations 8; Arithmetic Progressions 8; Surface Areas and Volumes 7 | A weekly slot for similarity proofs and two-variable word problems from the first term |
| Middle (33) | Quadratic Equations, Coordinate Geometry, Introduction to Trigonometry 6 each; Real Numbers, Polynomials, Circles 5 each | A formula sheet your child writes and rewrites, tested every fortnight |
| Shorter (15) | Applications of Trigonometry, Statistics, Probability 4 each; Areas Related to Circles 3 | Quick marks; finish them well before the last month |
Sixteen one-mark questions reward exact definitions and careful reading, so a five-question quiz to open each lesson pays off. KSEAB also posts SSLC model papers and a question bank showing the answer length examiners expect. Because blueprints change, plan from the copy on kseab.karnataka.gov.in, and see our Karnataka board tutor in Hubballi-Dharwad page for the state route from Class 9 to II PUC.
Kannada is the everyday language across the twin city, and many children learn maths in Kannada medium up to Class 10. Moving to English-medium PU, or changing school, can make a capable student look weak for a term: the method is there, but the words in the question are new. A tutor at ease in both languages closes the gap fast:
The II PUC paper is again out of 80, now over thirteen chapters running from Relations and Functions to Probability. The board's current blueprint and model paper split it into five parts:
| Part | Questions | Marks | Skill to build |
|---|---|---|---|
| A | 15 multiple-choice and 5 fill-in-the-blank items | 20 | Sure recall of standard results |
| B | 6 two-mark answers from 9 | 12 | Short working with no gaps |
| C | 6 three-mark answers from 9 | 18 | Choosing well, and fast |
| D | 4 five-mark answers from 7 | 20 | Calculus and matrices laid out step by step |
| E | A six-mark and a four-mark question, each picked from two; linear programming goes on graph sheet | 10 | A labelled graph with the feasible region shaded |
All that choice tempts students to drop chapters. A tutor should allow it only after checking the CET and JEE syllabi, which ignore the board's options. I PUC is the year to secure functions, trigonometry and limits; gaps left there resurface in every II PUC calculus answer.
Plenty of science students here write both. The syllabus overlaps; the scoring pulls the other way. In the Karnataka Examinations Authority's 2026 bulletin, CET maths was 60 one-mark multiple-choice questions with no negative marking, so a blank answer is simply a lost chance. In JEE Main 2026 Paper 1, maths was 25 of the 75 questions (20 with options, 5 with a numerical answer), scored +4 for a correct answer and −1 for a wrong one, so a blind guess costs.
The CET also reaches back into school. For the 2026 engineering ranking, CET physics, chemistry and maths marks and the qualifying exam marks counted equally, so II PUC answers weighed as much as the entrance paper. Dropping board writing for speed drills gives away half the rank. Read each new bulletin before planning; our KCET guide describes the paper, while the JEE maths topic-wise guide and our JEE home tutor in Hubballi-Dharwad page cover the national test.
The 2026-27 CBSE Class 10 paper is worth 80, with 20 more from school. Algebra holds 20 of the board marks, geometry 15, trigonometry 12, statistics and probability 11, mensuration 10, and real numbers and coordinate geometry 6 apiece. Section A has twenty one-mark items (eighteen multiple-choice, two assertion–reason), then come five two-mark, six three-mark and four five-mark questions, and Section E closes with three four-mark case studies. No calculator is allowed, and π is 22/7 unless stated.
Standard and Basic cover one syllabus at two depths: roughly 54% of Standard marks test remembering and understanding, against roughly 75% in Basic. A child who might take maths in Class 11 should sit Standard. CBSE also offers an optional second Class 10 exam to improve up to three subjects, maths among them; dates come only from cbse.gov.in. See the Class 10 maths preparation guide and our Class 10 maths tutor page.
The Class 12 paper sets 38 questions, all compulsory, for 80 marks, and calculus accounts for 35 of them, so it deserves a big slice of each week from the first month. Read the Class 12 calculus and algebra guide or visit the Class 12 maths tutor page.
Teachers for these courses are scarcer in the twin city than SSLC and CBSE teachers, so put the course in your first message. An online specialist can carry the course while a local tutor checks practice.
Tutors here mostly come by scooter, auto or the BRTS buses linking the two cities, so a clear address and a fixed hour matter more than anything else on day one. Compare tutors by locality on our Hubballi-Dharwad page.
| Locality | Homes | Finding you | Agree in advance |
|---|---|---|---|
| Old Hubli | Family houses in the narrow lanes of the city's oldest part | Numbers do not always run in order; name a circle or a shop everyone knows | An evening slot booked early, before board months fill them |
| Keshwapur | Older houses beside newer apartment buildings, north-east of the centre | Building, wing and floor for a flat; cross road and turning circle for a house | The board and textbook, since local children attend many kinds of school |
| Vidyanagar | Homes and flats on the main road towards Dharwad, with colleges around | Cross number and nearest BRTS stop | An early-morning or late-evening slot around long PU days |
| Unkal | An old village by Unkal Lake with newer layouts beside it | Old village or new layout, plus the corridor stop | Two or three shorter weekly sessions for a middle-school child |
| Gokul Road | Colonies of houses and flats along a long road running west to the airport | Colony, cross and which side of the road | A later hour, or an online lesson when both parents work late |
| Rajendra Nagar | A residential colony entered from Gokul Road | Cross number and the landmark you give any visitor | Weekday evenings or a longer weekend class, plus a first-month goal |
Zone guides for Central and East Hubballi, Vidyanagar and Unkal and Gokul Road and West Hubballi add detail, and the Hubballi-Dharwad home tuition guide covers the Dharwad side.
Ask for this week's school chapter rather than a showpiece topic, and put your child's latest marked test in front of the tutor. Good signs:
Not the right fit? Tell us, and the next shortlisted tutor gives a demo; changing tutor later costs nothing. Our demo class checklist for parents lists more questions. Home or online? A tutor at the table catches a wrong step as it is written, which helps younger children and long proofs; online suits a specialist on the other side of the twin city or a late PU day, and one of each a week often works. The home tutor or online tutor article and our online tutors for Hubballi-Dharwad page compare the two.
Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Tutors name their own rate, which tends to follow the paper, their experience with it, the trip to your locality and how many sessions you book. You see every fee before the demo; our Hubballi-Dharwad home tuition fees article lists what to ask.
Send the class; the paper by its full name (SSLC, II PUC, CBSE Standard or Basic, ICSE, ISC, IB or IGCSE); your locality with cross number and landmark; the hours free around school or college; the language your child prefers; and a budget. Two or three maths tutors come back with fees, and you pick one for a free demo. If no one suitable can reach you at that hour, we suggest an online or mixed plan. Tutors who join go through an ID check; the Verified badge appears only after the ID check is complete (how we check tutors). NXTutors works from Sector 66, Gurugram, and teaches online across India; see the national maths home tutor page, or our Mysuru, Bengaluru and Mangaluru pages elsewhere in Karnataka. For sciences here, try physics or science.
Maths teachers living in Hubballi or Dharwad who want students nearby can see open requests on the Hubballi-Dharwad tuition jobs page.

Maths tutors in Hubballi-Dharwad set their own rate. Ask which paper they taught last year, how many weekly sessions they suggest, and whether one lesson can move online in exam weeks.
NXTutors needs the class, the full paper name, your locality and landmark, and your child's free hours. Add the cross number, the preferred language and a budget too. We send two or three matched maths tutors, each fee shown before you meet. The first class is a free demo, and switching tutor later is free.
Triangles, Pair of Linear Equations, Arithmetic Progressions and Surface Areas and Volumes carry 32 of the 80 SSLC maths marks in the 2026-27 KSEAB blueprint. Triangles alone is worth 9. A Hubballi-Dharwad tutor should give proofs and word problems a weekly slot from the first term, then secure the shorter chapters well before the final month.
The 2026-27 SSLC maths paper has 38 questions for 80 marks, with internal choice in the larger questions. There are sixteen of one mark, eight of two, nine of three, four of four and one of five. KSEAB revises blueprints, so a tutor in Hubballi-Dharwad should plan from the current copy on kseab.karnataka.gov.in and the board's model papers.
Yes, a tutor at ease in Kannada and English can bridge the switch within a term. Useful steps are a paired list of maths terms, word problems read in English and explained in Kannada where needed, and every written answer kept in the medium of the paper. Mention your child's stronger language in the request so we match for it.
II PUC answers count as much as the entrance paper in the CET engineering ranking. Under the 2026 bulletin, CET physics, chemistry and maths marks and the qualifying exam marks counted equally. CET maths had 60 one-mark questions with no negative marking, while JEE Main took a mark away for each wrong answer, so each paper needs its own habits.
II PUC maths is an 80-mark paper over thirteen chapters in five parts, A to E, with choice inside Parts B to E. Part E holds a six-mark and a four-mark question, and linear programming is drawn on graph sheet. A tutor should drop a chapter only after checking the CET and JEE syllabi, which do not follow the board's choices.
Book the slot early and give an exact address. In Old Hubli name a circle or shop, since house numbers do not always run in order. In Vidyanagar give the cross number and nearest BRTS stop, and allow for long PU days. On Gokul Road add the colony, the cross and which side of the road you live on.
Maths tuition usually suits a home tutor for younger children and for any child with weak basics, because the tutor needs to watch each step being written. Older students revising known chapters can move some lessons online. Many families keep one home lesson a week and add a short online session for marked homework in exam months.
Tell us the class, board and your area. We share two or three matched tutors, and the first class is a free demo.
