Tutors who join go through an ID check. Tell us the class, board and your area: we share two or three matched tutors, each with their fee, and the first class is a free demo, at home or online.
Book a free demo classAcross NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Tutors set their own fee, and you see each tutor's fee before the demo class.
Monthly example: 3 one-hour classes a week ≈ ₹9,600–₹32,500 a month (12–13 classes at ₹800–₹2,500 an hour). An example, not a quote: your tutor's own fee decides the real figure.

A student on the Karnataka state board meets two public examinations: the SSLC at the end of Class 10, and the II PUC at the end of the second pre-university year, which is Class 12. In Mangaluru, as across the state, both are set by the Karnataka School Examination and Assessment Board, and the board publishes far more than a timetable. For every main subject it posts a blueprint that fixes how many questions of each mark value appear and which chapters carry them, along with model papers, question banks, past papers with model answers and, for II PUC, the scheme for marking practicals. This page reads those documents with a tutor's eye. It shows how the 2026-27 SSLC maths and social science papers are weighted, how four II PUC science papers and the accountancy paper are built, what the board says about second sittings, how language and medium affect tuition here, and how to find a tutor who can reach your part of the city each week. Treat every figure as the current published version and confirm it on the board's site before planning around it.
The Karnataka School Examination and Assessment Board (KSEAB) works under the state's Department of School Education and Literacy. Alongside the SSLC and II PUC it also runs several smaller examinations, but for a school family those two are what count. In practice a tutor needs two bookmarks:
Marks cards can also be fetched through DigiLocker. Anything a tutor says about dates, eligibility or rules should be checked against these two sites, not against last year's memory or a guidebook.
The 2026-27 maths blueprint sets an 80-mark paper of 38 questions: sixteen worth one mark, eight worth two, nine worth three, four worth four and a single five-mark question. Extra questions are printed as internal choices at every level from two marks upward, but not among the one-mark items. The more useful part for planning is the chapter weighting.
| Marks | Chapters | What it suggests for tuition |
|---|---|---|
| 9 | Triangles | The single heaviest chapter; proofs need to be written in full, step by step |
| 8 each | Pair of Linear Equations in Two Variables; Arithmetic Progressions | Reliable marks once the methods are routine; drill them early |
| 7 | Surface Areas and Volumes | Formula recall plus careful arithmetic; units lose marks |
| 6 each | Quadratic Equations; Coordinate Geometry; Introduction to Trigonometry | Core algebra and identities that also feed PUC maths |
| 5 each | Real Numbers; Polynomials; Circles | Short chapters worth finishing completely |
| 4 each | Some Applications of Trigonometry; Statistics; Probability | Neat diagrams and tables; easy to lose through presentation |
| 3 | Areas Related to Circles | Small, but no one-mark choice exists to cover a gap |
Two lessons follow. No chapter is safe to drop, because the one-mark section offers no choice. And the four- and five-mark questions reward complete, well-labelled answers more than speed. Our maths home tutors in Mangaluru page covers the subject more broadly, and the Class 10 maths preparation guide, though written for CBSE, covers many of the same chapters.
Social science is often the paper families think about last, yet its blueprint is the most varied. The 2026-27 version again sets 38 questions for 80 marks, drawn from six strands:
| Strand | Marks |
|---|---|
| History | 25 |
| Geography | 22 |
| Political Science | 11 |
| Sociology | 8 |
| Economics | 7 |
| Business Studies | 7 |
History and geography together carry close to 60% of the paper, so they deserve most of the revision time. The extra questions at two, three and four marks are internal choices; only the map question offers an open choice, which makes regular map practice one of the simplest ways to protect marks. A tutor can help here by turning each history chapter into a short timeline and each geography chapter into a labelled sketch the student can reproduce.
The SSLC blueprint list shows how wide the language choice is. First-language papers are published for Kannada, English, Hindi, Marathi, Tamil, Telugu, Urdu and Sanskrit, and the second language is English or Kannada. Language papers count towards the total like any other subject, so a weak one can pull a good result down.
Mangaluru adds its own layer. In localities such as Derebail, Kannada and Tulu are the main languages spoken, and a child may speak one language at home, study in another and write the paper in a third. Tell us all three when you ask for a tutor. For maths and science, explanation can happen in whichever language the child follows most comfortably, but written practice has to use the terms of the textbook and the medium in which the board paper will be sat. Our English home tutors in Mangaluru page covers the English paper.
The board now numbers its main sittings. For 2026 it held the SSLC as Exam 1 and Exam 2, and the II PUC student corner lists results for II PUC Exam-1 and Exam-2, each updated after revaluation and retotalling. There is a registration route for repeater and improvement candidates for Exam-2, a separate one for private candidates, and a government order on improving II PUC results. Students can also apply for a scanned copy of their answer script, revaluation or retotalling after a result.
None of this should change the plan for the first sitting, which a student should prepare for as the main event. Eligibility and dates for a second attempt are set in each year's notices, so read the current one rather than assuming last year's rules still apply.
Every II PUC science blueprint for 2026-27 opens with the same rule: Part A has twenty one-mark questions and all of them must be answered. After that the papers diverge.
| Paper | Maximum | After Part A, the student answers | Chapters or units |
|---|---|---|---|
| Mathematics (35) | 80 | 6 of 9 two-mark; 6 of 9 three-mark; 4 of 7 five-mark; then one of two six-mark and one of two four-mark questions in Part E | 13, from Relations and Functions to Probability |
| Physics (33) | 70 | 5 of 8 two-mark; 5 of 8 three-mark; 5 of 9 five-mark | 14, from Electric Charges and Fields to Semiconductor Electronics |
| Chemistry (34) | 70 | 3 of 5 two-mark; 8 of 15 three-mark; 4 of 6 five-mark | 10, from Solutions to Biomolecules |
| Biology (36) | 70 | 5 of 7 two-mark; 5 of 7 three-mark; 5 of 10 five-mark | 13, from reproduction in flowering plants to biodiversity and conservation |
The pattern tells a tutor where to spend time. Chemistry's large three-mark section rewards a student who can write short, exact answers across many units. Biology and physics lean on five-mark answers, where diagrams and full working matter. In maths, linear programming appears only as a six-mark Part E question, so it is worth practising in full. Practicals carry their own marks and follow the board's scheme of evaluation, which a tutor should read with the student early in the year. Subject help sits on the Mangaluru physics, chemistry and biology pages.
The II PUC blueprint list covers far more than the sciences. Commerce students meet Accountancy, Business Studies, Economics, Statistics and Basic Mathematics; arts students choose among History, Political Science, Sociology, Geography, Psychology, Logic, Education, Hindustani Music and others; and the languages run from Kannada, English and Hindi to Tamil, Telugu, Urdu, Sanskrit, Arabic, French and Optional Kannada. There are also vocational subjects such as information technology, retail, automobile, and beauty and wellness.
Accountancy shows how different a commerce paper feels. It carries 80 marks over ten chapters, from the basics of partnership accounts to the cash flow statement. Part A has twenty one-mark items of four kinds: multiple choice, fill in the blanks, match the following and very short answers. Then the student answers three of five two-mark questions, three of five six-mark problems and three of six twelve-mark problems. Those long problems, on admission, retirement or death of a partner, share capital, debentures and analysis of statements, decide the grade, and a tutor's main job is to make the student fast and tidy at them. For commerce help, see the guide to choosing a board and stream before PU admissions.
A tutor who builds lessons on these documents, rather than on a guidebook's guess at the pattern, is the first thing to look for.
Students preparing for national entrance exams alongside the PU course can read our JEE and NEET pages for Mangaluru.
Mangaluru classrooms also follow CBSE and CISCE, with smaller groups on IB or IGCSE. The chapters often overlap with the state syllabus, but the papers are built differently, so a tutor should be chosen for the board the child will actually sit. See our CBSE and ICSE and ISC pages for Mangaluru. Families elsewhere in the state can read Karnataka Board tutors in Bengaluru or start from our Bengaluru tutors page.
A weekly tutor makes the same trip for a full year, so we match within your part of the coast first.
The other two zones are Hampankatta and City Centre and Kadri and Bejai. Every locality is on our Mangaluru tutors page, and the Mangaluru home tuition guide goes zone by zone. For SSLC maths and science a tutor at the table is usually worth it; in the PU years, one home visit plus a shorter online session can be easier to keep, and an online option on heavy monsoon days saves the week. See the home or online tutor comparison.
We send two or three matched tutors, show each fee before the demo, and the first class is free; switching tutor later is free too. Tutors who join go through an ID check; the Verified badge appears only after our team has reviewed the ID (see how we check tutors). The demo class checklist has more.
Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Tutors set their own fee. Read the pricing guide and our post on home tuition fees in Mangaluru.

In the 2026-27 KSEAB SSLC maths blueprint that Mangaluru students sit, Triangles carries 9 of 80 marks, Linear Equations and Arithmetic Progressions 8 each, and Surface Areas and Volumes 7. No chapter is safe to skip, because the sixteen one-mark questions offer no choice. Internal choices appear only from the two-mark questions upward.
For a Mangaluru Class 10 student, the 2026-27 SSLC social science blueprint sets 38 questions for 80 marks. History carries 25, Geography 22, Political Science 11, Sociology 8, Economics 7 and Business Studies 7. Extra questions are internal choices, and only the map question has an open choice, so steady map practice protects marks cheaply.
For Mangaluru SSLC and II PUC students, Exam 1 and Exam 2 are the Karnataka board's numbered main sittings, used for the 2026 SSLC and II PUC results. There are registration routes for repeater, improvement and private candidates. Prepare for the first sitting as the main exam, and read the current notice for any second attempt.
For Mangaluru science students, every 2026-27 II PUC science blueprint starts with twenty compulsory one-mark questions. Maths is out of 80, and physics, chemistry and biology are out of 70, with choices in the longer parts. Chemistry has a large three-mark section, while physics and biology lean on five-mark answers; practicals follow the board's own scheme of evaluation.
Yes, a Karnataka board tutor in Mangaluru can explain in Tulu, Kannada or whichever language your child follows most easily, if you tell us when you ask. Written practice must still use the textbook's terms and the medium of the board paper. In parts of Mangaluru such as Derebail, Kannada and Tulu are the main languages spoken.
A Mangaluru state board tutor should plan from the board's own material: subject blueprints, model papers, the question bank and past papers with model answers. For II PUC, add the practical scheme of evaluation and answer scripts that scored full marks. A tutor who plans from these, rather than a guidebook's guess at the pattern, is what to look for.
Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Each Karnataka board tutor in Mangaluru sets their own fee, and you see it before the free demo.
For Mangaluru commerce students, the deciding marks in II PUC accountancy sit in the twelve-mark problems, of which three of six must be answered. The 80-mark paper spans ten chapters, with twenty one-mark items, then two-mark and six-mark choices. Problems on partners, share capital, debentures and analysis of statements decide the grade, so speed and tidiness matter.
For SSLC maths and science in Mangaluru, a Karnataka board tutor at the table is usually worth it. In the PU years, one home visit plus a shorter online session can be easier to keep alongside college. An agreed online option on heavy monsoon days saves the week without losing the routine.
In a first class with a Karnataka board tutor in Mangaluru, ask which papers they taught recently, since SSLC, PUC science, commerce and arts differ. Ask them to walk through this year's blueprint and mark an answer from a model paper. Check they can teach in your child's medium, guide the practical record without writing it, and switch online on heavy-rain days.
Tell us the class, board and your area. We share two or three matched tutors, and the first class is a free demo.
