Tutoring in Mangaluru: what to know
Mangaluru gives a home tutor five zones spread from the Netravati River in the south to Surathkal in the north. The centre, Hampankatta, Kodialbail, Pandeshwar, Balmatta and Falnir, is mostly flats among offices and shops, with the City Bus Stand and Mangaluru Central railway station at its heart. Just east, Kadri, Bejai, Bendur and Nanthoor form the high-rise belt, where a security desk logs visitors. Kankanady, Jeppu and Bolar run south towards the river, with more houses in small lanes. Urwa, Derebail, Bondel and Kavoor follow the Airport Road north, and Surathkal, Hosabettu and Kulai sit further up National Highway 66.
Students here sit four kinds of examination. The Karnataka School Examination and Assessment Board, KSEAB, which works under the state's Department of School Education and Literacy, conducts the SSLC at the end of Class 10 and the II PUC examination at the end of the second pre-university year. Besides the state board, students take CBSE, CISCE's ICSE and ISC, and in fewer cases the IB or Cambridge IGCSE. Language matters too: in Derebail, for example, Kannada and Tulu are the main languages spoken, so say on your profile which languages you can explain in, and take every state-board pattern and date from KSEAB's own website.
Home lessons and online lessons both have a place. When a family in Bejai sends a request, NXTutors shortlists two or three tutors: those who live in Bejai first, then tutors who already travel there, then the rest of the zone, the city and online tutors. The family sees each tutor's fee before a free first demo and can switch later at no charge. If you live in the centre, buses and trains make most of the city reachable; if you live on the Surathkal side, it may suit you to keep home visits near the highway and teach the rest of Mangaluru online. Either way, you set your own fee.

1
Sign up with a one-time code
Sign in with the one-time code sent to your phone or email, then add the subjects, classes and boards you teach, from SSLC Maths to ISC Chemistry, the languages you explain in and the Mangaluru localities you reach.
-
2
Upload your ID; our team reviews it
Upload a government photo ID for our team to review. The check confirms identity; it is not a police or background check, and the Verified badge appears on your profile only once the review is done.

3
Your profile carries the Verified badge
After the review, the Verified badge sits beside your boards, languages, fee and travel localities, which could run from Hampankatta and Kadri down to Jeppu or up the highway to Surathkal.

A family nearby sends a request
A parent in Bondel or Kankanady sends a request. NXTutors puts forward two or three tutors, nearest first, then tutors who already travel there, the rest of the zone, the city and online.
-
5
Free demo; the family sees your fee first
The family sees your fee before booking a free first demo, and we ask a parent to be at home for it, so you can judge the student, the gate and the route before agreeing a timetable.

Teach at home, online or both
Then teach in the way that suits your week: home lessons in your own localities, online classes for students across Karnataka and India, or a weekend visit with online sessions in between.
Boards you can teach in Mangaluru
Mangaluru tutors teach KSEAB students preparing for the SSLC (Class 10) and II PUC (Class 12), CBSE students, CISCE's ICSE and ISC candidates, and a smaller number of IB and Cambridge IGCSE learners. For the state board, read notices and examination details only on KSEAB's official website, because forwarded copies go out of date. CBSE sample papers and marking schemes are on the CBSE academic site, ICSE and ISC regulations on the CISCE site, and IB and Cambridge guides on their own sites. Say on your profile which boards and languages you teach.
KSEAB
SSLC (Class 10); II PUC (Class 12)
KSEAB works under Karnataka's Department of School Education and Literacy and conducts the SSLC at the end of Class 10 and the II PUC examination at the end of the second pre-university year. For 2026 its site listed the SSLC as Exam 1 and Exam 2. Teach from the prescribed books in the student's medium, and take every pattern and date from kseab.karnataka.gov.in.
A CBSE student in Mangaluru needs lessons built on the NCERT chapter, followed by practice with the sample papers and marking schemes published on cbseacademic.nic.in. In Classes 11 and 12 the same NCERT base serves the board paper and entrance preparation, so one carefully built week can cover both without doubling the student's load.
CISCE
ICSE (Class 10); ISC (Class 12)
ICSE in Class 10 and ISC in Class 12 ask for long, well-organised written answers and set prescribed English texts. A Mangaluru tutor who knows the literature and the project work each subject requires is easier for a family to choose, and ISC electives can also be taught online to students in other cities. Regulations and specimen papers are on cisce.org.
IB
Diploma Programme (Classes 11–12)
IB Diploma Maths, Physics and Chemistry come at SL and HL, and families usually ask by course name. Internal assessment counts towards the grade, so a tutor guides the method but never writes the IA or Extended Essay. In Mangaluru the right specialist may live across the city, so online lessons often fit; subject guides are on ibo.org.
Cambridge IGCSE and Pearson Edexcel's International GCSE reward exam technique: command words, the correct tier and past papers marked against the official scheme. Check which board the school uses before the demo. For a family on the Surathkal side, an online specialist can work alongside a local tutor who covers the rest of the school week.
