Tutors who join go through an ID check. Tell us the class, board and your area: we share two or three matched tutors, each with their fee, and the first class is a free demo, at home or online.
Book a free demo classAcross NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Tutors set their own fee, and you see each tutor's fee before the demo class.
Monthly example: 3 one-hour classes a week ≈ ₹9,600–₹32,500 a month (12–13 classes at ₹800–₹2,500 an hour). An example, not a quote: your tutor's own fee decides the real figure.

In Mangaluru, a student aiming at JEE usually carries three loads at once. There is the college day, either at a PU college working towards the II PUC or at a school following CBSE or ISC. There is the entrance syllabus, often with a coaching programme attached. And there is the city itself, stretched along the coast from Surathkal in the north to Jeppu and Bolar on the Netravati, where the heavy monsoon months can turn a simple evening ride into a slow one. A home tutor is worth paying for only when they take one clear load off the student. This page covers which load that should be, the slots that tend to hold through a Mangaluru year, how tutors reach six localities, how a II PUC, CBSE or ISC student bridges to the NTA syllabus, and what changes across Class 11, Class 12 and a repeat year. The national JEE home tutor hub explains the exam in full.
The National Testing Agency runs JEE (Main). In its 2026 bulletin, Paper 1 was a three-hour computer-based test of 75 questions, split evenly across mathematics, physics and chemistry, for a total of 300 marks. Each subject had 20 multiple-choice items and 5 numerical-answer items; a correct response earned four marks and a wrong one cost a mark in both kinds. There were two sessions, and the better score counted. Candidates ranked highest on Paper 1 could then sit JEE (Advanced), set by the IITs as two compulsory papers of three hours each, available in English and Hindi. Details shift between years, so take every rule from jeemain.nta.nic.in and jeeadv.ac.in rather than from a tutor's memory.
Three people often teach a Mangaluru aspirant: the college lecturer, the coaching faculty and the tutor. When all three teach the same chapter the same week, the student hears it three times and practises it once. Divide the work instead.
| Part of the work | Usually covered by | The home tutor's share |
|---|---|---|
| First teaching of a new chapter | College or coaching | Only for a student without coaching, from a written chapter plan |
| Backlog of unsolved sheet problems | Nobody, unless someone owns it | The main job: cleared every week before it piles up |
| Mistakes in the latest test | The student, often skipped | Each wrong answer reworked and logged by type: concept, reading or arithmetic |
| Board-style written answers | College, late in Class 12 | A short written answer in most sessions, so the habit never lapses |
| Practical record and internal work | College | A check that it is moving, never writing it for the student |
Our coaching or home tutor for JEE article was written for a different city, but its reasoning on splitting the work applies unchanged here.
The research notes for almost every locality say the same thing in different words: the main junctions, Pumpwell, KPT and Nanthoor among them, and the national highway towards Surathkal are busiest when offices and shifts close. A tutor slot set inside that rush starts late all year. Plan around it.
| Slot | Put it towards | Why it works here |
|---|---|---|
| Early morning before college | One demanding maths or physics topic at home | Clear roads, a fresh student, nothing else competing |
| Late evening on coaching days | A short online doubt check | No travel after a long day; questions are still fresh |
| Sunday block | A full timed paper, then its review | Weekend traffic on the highway and the Airport Road is lighter |
| Heavy monsoon days | The same session, moved online | Agreed at the start, so a downpour costs nothing |
Mangaluru runs a long way from north to south, and a weekly tutor has to make the same trip for two years. Start with someone from your own stretch of the coast and widen only if the subject demands it.
| Locality | Getting there | Practical note |
|---|---|---|
| Kankanady | City bus along Balmatta Road or from Pumpwell; Mangaluru Junction at Padil is close for anyone coming by train | Fix the time early, because Balmatta Road fills on weekday evenings |
| Bolar | City bus or auto from Hampankatta; tutors in Jeppu and Attavar are near | Give the riverbank or a junction as the landmark so the lane is found first time |
| Derebail | Bus or auto from Bejai, Kadri or Bondel without a long ride | Most homes are flats; pass the tutor's name and flat number to the gate in advance |
| Bondel | City bus along the Airport Road, or a two-wheeler | Tower security desks register visitors, so register once before the demo |
| Surathkal | Tutors living on the Surathkal side arrive quickly; others travel up the highway by bus or two-wheeler | Avoid shift-closing hours on the highway |
| Kulai | Easy from Surathkal and Hosabettu; a longer run north from the centre | A tutor from the northern wards is the one most likely to stay all year |
The zone pages go further: Hampankatta and City Centre, Kadri and Bejai, Kankanady and Jeppu, Urwa to Kavoor and Surathkal. Every locality is listed on our Mangaluru tutors page, and the Mangaluru home tuition guide walks through the city zone by zone.
Our comparison of a home tutor and an online tutor sets out the trade-offs in more detail.
Mangaluru classrooms follow the Karnataka state board, CBSE and CISCE, with fewer students on IB or IGCSE. The gap to the NTA syllabus looks different from each one.
The state board side is covered on our Karnataka Board tutors in Mangaluru page, and subject help sits on the Mangaluru maths, physics and chemistry pages.
| Stage | Main focus | Mangaluru angle |
|---|---|---|
| Class 11 or I PUC | Mechanics, calculus basics and mole concept; an error log from the first test onward | The step up from Class 10 is steepest here; losing the first term of physics is costly later |
| Class 12 or II PUC | New chapters, steady Class 11 revision, then full papers before the first session | Board practicals and the record come due in the same months; schedule written answers rather than squeezing them in |
| Repeat year | Read last year's papers for patterns of loss, rebuild weak chapters, many timed papers | Daytime sessions avoid the evening rush and widen the choice of tutor across the city |
Before planning a repeat year, read the eligibility sections of the current bulletin and brochure; in 2026, Main set no age limit and Advanced allowed at most two attempts in consecutive years. For subject plans, share our JEE maths, JEE physics and JEE chemistry guides with any new tutor, and see the JEE physics tutor page.
If the fit is wrong, we arrange the next demo, and switching later is free. The demo class checklist for parents has more questions.
Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Each tutor sets their own fee and you see it before the demo. Read the pricing guide and our note on home tuition fees in Mangaluru for the questions worth asking about hours and travel.
Send the class, board, target exam, subjects, college or coaching hours and your locality with a landmark. We come back with two or three matched tutors, and the first class is a free demo. For medical entrance, see NEET home tutors in Mangaluru; teachers can find requests on Mangaluru tuition jobs.
Take one clear job off the student. Usually that means clearing the week's unsolved coaching or college problems, reworking every wrong answer from the latest test, and keeping written board answers in practice. Teaching new chapters is only the tutor's job when there is no coaching programme, and then from a written chapter plan.
Early mornings before college, short online doubt checks late on coaching evenings, and a Sunday block for a timed paper and its review. Avoid the hours when offices and shifts close, because junctions such as Pumpwell, KPT and Nanthoor and the highway to Surathkal are busiest then. Agree an online fallback for heavy monsoon days.
Yes. The tutor works from the board's blueprints and model papers for the II PUC side, maps each unit against the current NTA syllabus, and adds the timed, multi-concept practice that the board paper does not ask for. Take every board format and date only from the Karnataka School Examination and Assessment Board's website.
Tutors are matched across the city: Hampankatta and the centre, Kadri and Bejai, Kankanady and Jeppu, Urwa to Kavoor along the Airport Road, and Surathkal in the north. Because the city runs a long way from north to south, we start with tutors from your own side. Share your locality and a landmark.
Physics usually goes better at home, because most mistakes happen in the diagram and the choice of principle, which a tutor beside the student can watch. Maths can be split between home lessons and online paper reviews, and chemistry recall suits short online checks. A specialist for Advanced-level problems may teach online from another city.
Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour, with JEE toward the upper end and JEE Advanced specialists able to charge more. Each tutor sets their own fee, which you see before the demo. Ask whether travel from the far end of the city is included.
Send the class, board, subjects, college or coaching hours and your locality. We send two or three matched tutors with their fees, and the first class with your chosen tutor is a free demo. Bring problems your child could not finish and watch who does the solving. Switching tutor later is free.
