Tutors who join go through an ID check. Tell us the class, board and your area: we share two or three matched tutors, each with their fee, and the first class is a free demo, at home or online.
Book a free demo classAcross NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Tutors set their own fee, and you see each tutor's fee before the demo class.
Monthly example: 3 one-hour classes a week ≈ ₹9,600–₹32,500 a month (12–13 classes at ₹800–₹2,500 an hour). An example, not a quote: your tutor's own fee decides the real figure.

For a Madurai student in Std XI or XII, biology often does two jobs at once. The board paper, whether State Board, CBSE or ISC, wants complete written answers with labelled diagrams; NEET, where biology is half of every question paper, wants fast, exact recall with a penalty for each wrong guess. A student who learnt science in Tamil medium also has a new layer of English technical words to master. NXTutors asks for the board, the class, whether NEET is part of the plan and where you live, then sends two or three biology tutors who fit, with fees shown. The first class with the tutor you choose is a free demo.
| Board or exam | What it looks like | Tutor's focus |
|---|---|---|
| Tamil Nadu Higher Secondary | Biology, Botany and Zoology appear among the Part III subjects the Directorate examines | The state textbook in your child's medium; the scheme from dge.tn.gov.in |
| CBSE (044) | A 70-mark theory paper of three hours and 30 practical marks, in each of Class 11 and 12 | NCERT depth, case-based reading, an up-to-date practical record |
| ISC (863) | Class 12 theory worth 70, with practical 15, project 10 and the file 5 | Careful diagrams and exact terminology |
| NEET (UG) | 90 of the 180 questions, set by NTA | Rapid, precise recall, practised with negative marking in mind |
| IB; Cambridge or Edexcel IGCSE | Biology SL or HL; 0610 or 4BI1 in Grades 9 and 10 | Data handling, practical skills and, in the IB, the investigation |
Until Std X, biology sits inside science; for those years start with our science home tutor in Madurai page.
The Directorate of Government Examinations, Tamil Nadu, conducts the Std XII Higher Secondary examination in March/June sessions, and its timetable lists Biology as well as Botany and Zoology as separate Part III subjects. Check which of these your child's school offers, because a tutor for a combined Biology paper and a tutor for Botany and Zoology prepare rather differently. We do not describe the papers themselves; the Directorate sets and revises them, so take the current scheme from dge.tn.gov.in. A good fit teaches from the prescribed textbook, explains in Tamil where it helps, and, if NEET is also in view, lays the NCERT chapters beside the state book early so that gaps are filled in Std XI rather than in the final months. Our Tamil Nadu Board tutor page for Madurai has more.
The theory paper is out of 70 in each year, and the unit weights in CBSE's 2026-27 curriculum work as a ready timetable:
Of the Class 11 units, physiology and the cell are the two that keep coming back, in Class 12 revision and in NEET alike, so revisit both in the last weeks of Class 11. Practical work adds 30 marks a year through experiments, spotting, the record, and a project with viva; a file kept up after every lab session is far easier to defend at the viva than one finished in the final fortnight.
Biology brings more new vocabulary than any other school science, and a student changing language meets each word twice. A tutor who bridges well usually works like this:
The NEET (UG) 2026 bulletin set 180 compulsory multiple-choice questions worth 720 marks. Physics and chemistry had 45 apiece; biology, split into botany and zoology, had the other 90. A right answer added four, a wrong one subtracted one, and when candidates tied, the biology score was the first thing compared. NTA confirms the pattern every year and the National Medical Commission notifies the syllabus; the 2027 bulletin had not been published at the time of writing, so watch neet.nta.nic.in. For tuition that means NCERT read line by line, figures and tables included, timed objective sets, and an error log kept from every mock. See our NEET home tutor page and the NCERT-first NEET biology guide.
Yes, if the tutor plays a different role. Repeating the batch lecture wastes the hour. Useful work fills the batch's gaps: the week's hardest chapter taken slowly, board-style written answers that the batch never marks, and each mock test analysed question by question. Fix the home slot so it never collides with batch timings, and keep it away from the hours when roads into the centre are busiest. Our article on coaching, a home tutor or both for NEET weighs the options.
Every school runs to its own calendar, so treat the outline below as adjustable. It is written for a student facing both a board paper and NEET in one year.
| Phase | For the board | For NEET |
|---|---|---|
| Opening months | Reproduction and genetics, with written answers every week | An objective set at the end of each chapter |
| Mid-session | Human welfare, biotechnology and ecology; practical file kept current | Class 11 physiology and cell revisited in short rounds |
| Run-up to the pre-boards | Full board papers under time, checked against the marking scheme | A full mock every fortnight, each followed by an error log |
| After the board exam | Finished | Every Class 11 and 12 chapter revised from NCERT, with weekly mocks |
A State Board or ISC student follows the same outline with that board's own papers in place of CBSE's. The point is that neither exam waits for the other to finish.
Tutors mostly travel by two-wheeler, city bus or auto, and the river bridges and main junctions are what slow them down. Every locality is listed on our Madurai page.
Tallakulam and Goripalayam are central and reachable from both banks, but the roads near Tamukkam Ground, the bridges and the Goripalayam junction are crowded at office and school hours. A class that begins a little after the evening rush, with the lane and a two-wheeler parking spot shared in advance, keeps the weekly slot steady.
Koodal Nagar has its own railway station; send a map pin, as some streets are hard to find. Arappalayam sits beside the state bus terminus and near Madurai Junction, so a tutor can come by bus, train or two-wheeler; name the exact street, because homes are set back from the terminus.
In Anna Nagar, a visit is either straight to a house door or via a building entrance, so share the building name with the street. In Melamadai, give Vandiyur Lake as the first landmark and let any security desk know the tutor's timing. Mattuthavani is the main bus hub for both.
The North Madurai and East Madurai zone pages carry more local detail.
Biology at this level travels well online. A labelled sketch works on a tablet or in front of a webcam, and going through a NEET mock is easier on a shared screen than across a table. In-person lessons win when a student drifts without someone beside them, or when parents want the practical file inspected page by page. Since the right ISC, IB or NEET specialist may live across the Vaigai, a weekly pattern of one visit plus one online lesson is common.
If the fit is wrong, we arrange a demo with the next tutor on your shortlist, and changing tutor later costs nothing. Book through our demo class page.
Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Std XI and XII biology and NEET preparation sit in that upper part. Tutors set their own fees, which you see before the demo; the Madurai home tuition fees article explains what shapes them.
Tell us the class, the board, whether NEET is in the plan, the chapters causing trouble, the language your child prefers for explanations, your locality and times, and a budget. We send two or three matched biology tutors and their fees. Tutors who join go through an ID check; the Verified badge appears only after our team has reviewed the ID, as set out on how we check tutors. For the other sciences, see our physics and chemistry tutor pages for Madurai; the national biology home tutor guide covers IGCSE and IB in depth. Biology teachers in Madurai can find open requests on Madurai tuition jobs.
Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. In Madurai, Std XI and XII biology and NEET preparation usually sit in that upper part. Each tutor sets their own fee, and every fee appears before the demo.
To match a Madurai student with a biology tutor, we need the class, board, whether NEET is planned, the troublesome chapters, the explanation language, locality, times and budget. We send two or three matched tutors, each fee shown before the first class. The first class is a free demo, and switching tutor later is free.
A Madurai Higher Secondary student should first check which paper the school offers, because the Directorate's timetable lists Biology, Botany and Zoology as separate Part III subjects. A combined Biology tutor and a Botany and Zoology tutor prepare rather differently. Take the current exam scheme from dge.tn.gov.in.
A NEET biology tutor in Madurai should fill the batch's gaps instead of repeating its lecture. That means the week's hardest chapter taken slowly, board-style written answers the batch never marks, and each mock analysed question by question. Keep the home slot clear of batch timings and the busiest road hours.
Biology carries half of NEET for a Madurai aspirant: 90 of the 180 questions in the NEET (UG) 2026 bulletin, across botany and zoology. The paper was worth 720 marks at plus four and minus one, and biology broke ties first. NTA confirms each year's pattern, so check neet.nta.nic.in for 2027.
A Tamil-medium Madurai student masters English biology terms when each word is spoken, explained in Tamil if needed and written onto a labelled English diagram. The tutor also teaches common Greek and Latin roots, keeps a two-column personal glossary quizzed weekly, and keeps written answers in English from day one.
A Madurai CBSE biology tutor should prioritise Human Physiology, 18 of 70 Class 11 theory marks, and Genetics and Evolution, 20 of 70 in Class 12. Physiology returns in Class 12 revision and NEET, while genetics needs worked inheritance problems weekly. Practicals add 30 marks a year, so keep the file current.
A Madurai Std XII student can split biology into four phases, so neither exam waits for the other. Reproduction and genetics come first with weekly written answers and chapter objective sets, then the remaining units, then timed board papers with fortnightly mocks, and finally full NCERT revision with weekly mocks after the board exam.
A biology tutor can reach Arappalayam in Madurai by bus, train or two-wheeler, as it sits beside the state bus terminus near Madurai Junction; give the exact street. Koodal Nagar has its own railway station, but some streets are hard to find, so share a map pin before the first visit.
Senior biology works well online for a Madurai student, since labelled sketches suit a tablet or webcam and NEET mocks are easier to review on a shared screen. A home visit wins when a student drifts alone or parents want the practical file checked; one visit plus one online lesson weekly is common.
