What home tuition costs in Madurai

Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Tutors set their own fee, and you see each tutor's fee before the demo class.

Monthly example: 3 one-hour classes a week ≈ ₹9,600–₹32,500 a month (12–13 classes at ₹800–₹2,500 an hour). An example, not a quote: your tutor's own fee decides the real figure.

Physics home tutor in Madurai: one person who reads your child's working, line by line

Senior physics in Madurai usually has two masters. There is the Std XII paper, whether set by the Tamil Nadu State Board, CBSE or CISCE, which wants derivations, diagrams and practical records; and for many students there is JEE or NEET, which wants speed and accuracy under negative marking. School and an entrance batch can fill the week, yet neither leaves much time for someone to sit with the student, look at a wrong solution and find the exact step that failed. That is what a home physics tutor is for. NXTutors suggests two or three physics tutors who know your child's target exam and can reach your side of the city in the evening. You see their fees first, and the opening lesson is a free demo.

Is your child training for a board paper, JEE or NEET?

The chapters overlap a great deal; the scoring does not. Agree the main target at the first meeting, because it decides what kind of practice the tutor sets every week.

Physics in the exams Madurai's Std XI and XII students prepare for, with the format and the practice each one needs
ExamPhysics in itHow answers are scoredPractice that suits it
Tamil Nadu Higher Secondary, Std XIIConducted by the Directorate of Government ExaminationsTake the current scheme from dge.tn.gov.inThe state textbook, worked in full, in the student's medium
CBSE Class 12 (042)Theory out of 70 with 33 compulsory questions; practical out of 30Written answers, no calculatorDerivations, diagrams and reading case-based passages
JEE Main, 2026 pattern25 of the 75 questions, five of them numerical-answerPlus four for a right answer, minus one for a wrong oneTimed multi-step problems, then a review of each error
JEE AdvancedIn 2026, open only to the first 2,50,000 JEE Main candidatesDecided each year by the organising instituteProblems that join several ideas; earlier Advanced papers
NEET (UG), 2026 pattern45 of 180 questions, worth 180 of 720 marks, on paperPlus four, minus oneNCERT-level precision and fewer guesses

Each entrance syllabus comes from its conducting body, not from the school board, and it may keep a topic that a board has dropped, so read the current bulletin on nta.ac.in before striking anything off. For chapter priorities see the JEE physics topic-by-topic plan and high-yield NEET physics chapters; our JEE physics tutor and NEET physics tutor pages explain how we match.

What should a State Board physics student look for?

The Directorate of Government Examinations, Tamil Nadu, conducts the Std XII Higher Secondary examination, held in March/June sessions, and physics is one of its listed subjects; in the Directorate's 2025-26 schedule, practical examinations came before the theory papers. We do not describe the physics paper itself, since the Directorate publishes and revises it; check dge.tn.gov.in for the current version. What to ask of a tutor is simpler: teaching from the state textbook in the medium your child writes in, practical records kept up to date through the year, and, if JEE or NEET is also on the list, early work on the topics where the entrance syllabus goes further than the textbook. Our Tamil Nadu Board tutor page for Madurai covers the State Board more broadly.

Your child already attends an entrance batch. What is left for a home tutor?

Plenty, as long as the tutor does not simply deliver the batch lecture again. Three jobs tend to fall through the gaps of a crowded week:

  • The unsolved pile. A batch moves at the pace of the room. Problems left unfinished, or copied down without being understood, build up quietly; a home hour works through them one by one.
  • The school paper. Batches are built around objective questions. Board marks still need full derivations, neat ray and circuit diagrams and a practical file, and one home session a week can keep all three moving.
  • Reading the mock. A total score hides the cause. A tutor can sort every lost mark into a concept gap, a careless slip or a question that should have been left, and set the next week's work from that list.

We compare a JEE batch with a home tutor in one article, and the NEET version does the same for medical entrance.

How should the physics error log be kept?

Keep one notebook for wrong answers, used by both student and tutor. Every entry gets four things: the problem as printed, the student's original attempt with its mistakes left in, a single line naming the mistake, and a clean redo written days later from memory. The redo always runs in the same sequence: sketch with directions, the law stated in words, numbers substituted with units, and a sanity check on sign and size.

Take this notebook, or the last two mock papers, to the free demo. Within a few pages, a capable tutor should be able to point at the step that keeps breaking, before any new teaching starts.

How are the 70 CBSE Class 12 physics theory marks spread?

The 2026-27 sample paper keeps last session's design. For marking, the fourteen NCERT chapters fall into four blocks:

CBSE Class 12 physics theory, 2026-27: marks by block and where the tutor's attention should go
BlockMarksTutor's focus
Electrostatics through alternating current33Close to half the paper; derivations and circuit numericals every week
Optics and electromagnetic waves18Ray diagrams drawn to the standard the examiner expects
Dual nature, atoms and nuclei12Short numericals and exact statements
Semiconductor electronics7Transistors and logic gates are no longer in the syllabus; older notes need pruning

Five lettered sections hold the 33 questions: sixteen one-markers in A (twelve with options, four assertion–reason), five two-markers in B, seven three-markers in C, two four-mark case studies in D and three five-mark long answers in E. Recall alone earns only around 38%, the paper supplies constants, and no calculator may be used. There is a single main board sitting in Class 12; look for 2027 dates on cbse.gov.in. Recurring derivations are gathered in our Class 12 physics strategies, and the Class 12 physics tutor page shows how a year can run.

Can the 30 practical marks be prepared away from the lab?

Largely, yes, and few marks in physics are as predictable. The split is: two experiments, one per section, worth 7 apiece; the viva and the record file, 5 each; and an activity plus the investigatory project, 3 each. Inside the file CBSE expects a minimum of eight experiments and six activities, shared equally between the two sections, along with the project report.

The equipment never comes home, but the paperwork can. A tutor can go through the file entry by entry (aim, labelled diagram, observation table), rehearse precautions and likely sources of error, and play examiner for a practice viva: why repeat a reading, or what does the gradient of this graph tell you?

ISC, IB and IGCSE physics: what changes for the tutor?

  • ISC. CISCE pairs the theory paper with practical work and a project, and it looks for fuller reasoning than a one-line answer. Check that the tutor teaches the syllabus for your child's exam year.
  • IB Diploma. Since the May 2025 exams the course has five lettered themes and no longer has options or a Paper 3. The investigation, designed and written by the student alone, is 20% of the grade; the papers are the other 80%. SL has 150 teaching hours, HL 240. See our IB physics SL and HL guide.
  • Cambridge IGCSE. Taken at Core or Extended level. Anyone joining an Indian board in Class 11 afterwards should expect to shore up vectors and graphs.

Tutors for these courses are fewer, so mention the course in your first message; an online specialist can cover it if nobody nearby is free.

Will a tutor reach you after the batch in these six Madurai localities?

Std XI and XII students often get home after dark, which pushes physics late into the evening. Whether that slot holds depends on the tutor's route home. Browse every locality on our Madurai page.

Six Madurai localities: how a tutor gets there and what to agree for a late physics lesson
LocalityGetting thereAgree in advance
GoripalayamA junction of several main roads on the north bank, with an old bridge across to NelpettaiThe lane to turn into and a parking spot for a two-wheeler
SellurEasy by two-wheeler from Goripalayam, Tallakulam and ThathaneriA street name and landmark, since several streets share similar numbers
Koodal NagarIts own railway station, where some trains stop; Arappalayam is the nearest big bus hubA map pin, and a time clear of the busy hours towards Arappalayam
ArappalayamBy bus, train or two-wheeler; the bus terminus and Madurai Junction are closeThe exact street, because homes sit away from the crowded terminus
Anna NagarCity buses and the Mattuthavani terminus; tutors from K.K. Nagar and Melamadai ride overFor a flat, the building name and a word with the entrance staff
AnuppanadiCity buses; Madurai East railway station is the closest stationThe exact street and a landmark, as homes and small workshops share streets

If the batch overruns, turn that evening's lesson into an online hour with the same tutor so nobody crosses the river late at night. The West Madurai zone page has more on getting around the Arappalayam side.

When is the right time to start physics tuition?

Std XI usually costs least in the long run. Mechanics leans on vectors and graphs that return all through Std XII, and gaps left there turn up a year later in electrostatics and in every entrance mock. Read the Class 11 physics tutor page and our stream choice guide.

What does a physics home tutor in Madurai charge?

Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Tutors set their own fees. The target exam, the tutor's experience with it, how late the trip to your street is, and the sessions you book each week all play a part, and online lessons with the same tutor may be priced differently. Every fee is shown before the demo; see the Madurai home tuition fees article for questions worth asking.

How do you ask for a physics shortlist in Madurai?

Send the class, the board and the main goal (school paper, JEE or NEET), the days the batch runs, your locality with a landmark, and the evenings still free. Two or three physics tutors come back with their fees, and you choose whom to meet at a free demo class. If the first tutor does not suit, another from the list takes a demo, and any later change of tutor costs nothing. Tutors who join go through an ID check; the Verified badge appears only after the ID check is complete, as this page explains. If nobody suitable can come at that hour, we offer an online or part-online plan. NXTutors has its office in Sector 66, Gurugram, and teaches online across India; the national physics home tutor page covers other cities, and our chemistry and maths pages for Madurai cover the other subjects.

Physics Home Tutor in Madurai: common questions

What sets the hourly rate of a Std XI or XII physics tutor in Madurai?

Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Each Madurai physics tutor fixes their own rate, shaped mainly by the target exam, their experience with it, how late the trip to your street is and sessions per week. You see every fee before the demo.

Can a Madurai physics tutor teach the Tamil Nadu Higher Secondary course in my child's medium?

Yes, a Madurai physics tutor can teach Tamil Nadu Higher Secondary physics from the state textbook in your child's medium, keeping the practical record current. The Directorate of Government Examinations conducts the Std XII examination and can revise its scheme, so take paper details from dge.tn.gov.in rather than older guides.

What is left for a home physics tutor once a Madurai student joins an entrance batch?

A home physics tutor beside a Madurai entrance batch clears unsolved problems, reads each mock mark by mark, and keeps board derivations, diagrams and practical work moving. The tutor should not repeat the batch lecture; one or two focused sessions a week usually suffice.

Which CBSE Class 12 physics block should a Madurai tutor spend most time on?

A Madurai tutor should spend most CBSE Class 12 physics time on electrostatics through alternating current, worth 33 of the 70 theory marks. Optics with electromagnetic waves adds 18, dual nature with atoms and nuclei 12, and semiconductor electronics 7. All 33 questions are compulsory, and about 38% of marks reward recall.

How large is the physics share of JEE Main and NEET for Madurai aspirants?

For Madurai aspirants, physics was a third of JEE Main 2026 Paper 1, with 25 questions, five needing a numerical answer. In NEET (UG) 2026 it was a quarter: 45 questions worth 180 of 720 marks. Both exams gave four marks for a right answer and took one for a wrong one.

Can a physics tutor come to Koodal Nagar in Madurai after the evening batch?

A physics tutor can usually come to Koodal Nagar in Madurai in the evening if they live on that side. Koodal Nagar has its own railway station, and Arappalayam is the nearest big bus hub. Share a map pin before the first visit, and fix a time clear of busy hours on roads towards Arappalayam.

How can a Madurai tutor help with the CBSE Class 12 physics practical file?

A Madurai tutor can check the CBSE Class 12 physics file entry by entry, since it needs at least eight experiments, six activities and the project report. The record is worth 5 of the 30 practical marks; two experiments carry 7 each, the activity and project 3 each, and the viva 5, which the tutor can rehearse.

Does an IB physics student in Madurai need materials for the new guide?

Yes, an IB physics student in Madurai needs materials for the current guide, first examined in May 2025, with five lettered themes and no options or Paper 3. Written papers count for 80% and the student's own investigation for 20%. Revision books for the earlier course will not match it.

What should a Madurai family send to receive a physics tutor shortlist?

To receive a physics shortlist in Madurai, send the class, board, main goal (school paper, JEE or NEET), batch days, locality with a landmark and free evenings. We send two or three matched tutors, each fee shown before the first class. The first class is a free demo, and switching tutor later is free.

When should a Madurai physics student switch a home lesson to an online hour?

A Madurai physics student should switch to an online hour with the same tutor when the batch overruns, so nobody crosses the river late at night. Home lessons suit reading working line by line. For ISC, IB or IGCSE, where tutors are fewer, an online specialist can cover the course if nobody nearby is free.
