Tutors who join go through an ID check. Tell us the class, board and your area: we share two or three matched tutors, each with their fee, and the first class is a free demo, at home or online.
Book a free demo classAcross NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Tutors set their own fee, and you see each tutor's fee before the demo class.
Monthly example: 3 one-hour classes a week ≈ ₹9,600–₹32,500 a month (12–13 classes at ₹800–₹2,500 an hour). An example, not a quote: your tutor's own fee decides the real figure.

By Std XII, chemistry is the subject where many Madurai students feel busiest and least certain. School covers the textbook at its own pace, an entrance batch for NEET or JEE adds a thick file of notes each week, and the board paper still wants reasons written in full sentences, balanced equations and a practical file. A home tutor can tie those threads together in one calm session: what was taught this week, whether it was understood, and how each exam wants it written. NXTutors suggests two or three chemistry tutors who know your child's syllabus and can reach your part of the city. Every fee is visible before you meet anyone, and the first lesson is a free demo.
A Std XII student may be preparing for two or three chemistry tests in the same year, each scored on its own terms.
| Exam | Size of the chemistry part | What scores |
|---|---|---|
| Tamil Nadu Higher Secondary, Std XII | A subject of the public examination conducted by the Directorate of Government Examinations | The scheme the Directorate publishes on dge.tn.gov.in |
| CBSE Class 12 (043) | A 70-mark, three-hour theory paper of 33 compulsory questions, and a 30-mark practical | Clear written reasons, balanced equations, tidy numericals |
| NEET (UG), 2026 pattern | 45 of 180 questions, carrying 180 of 720 marks, on paper | Quick and exact recall of NCERT lines |
| JEE Main 2026, Paper 1 | 25 of the 75 questions: twenty with options, five with a numerical answer | Mechanisms and physical chemistry problems with several stages |
Under the 2026 rules, each NTA exam added four for a right response and deducted one for a wrong response; NTA confirms the pattern every year, so read the newest bulletin. For more depth, see the important NEET chemistry chapters, our JEE chemistry guide by branch and the NEET chemistry tutor page.
The Directorate of Government Examinations, Tamil Nadu, conducts the Std XII Higher Secondary examination in March/June sessions, lists chemistry among its subjects, and keeps one of its seven regional offices in Madurai. We give no paper pattern here, because the Directorate sets and revises it; dge.tn.gov.in has the current details. Ask for a tutor who teaches straight from the state textbook in your child's medium, keeps the practical record moving through the year, and, if NEET or JEE is also in view, marks early the places where the entrance syllabus asks for more than the book. Our Tamil Nadu Board tutor page for Madurai has more on the State Board.
CBSE fixes chemistry marks chapter by chapter, which makes a tutor's planning unusually simple. With the paper design unchanged from last session, the 2026-27 curriculum ranks the ten theory chapters like this:
| Branch | Chapter (marks) | Practice that pays |
|---|---|---|
| Physical, 23 | Electrochemistry (9), Solutions (7), Chemical Kinetics (7) | Numericals solved slowly, with units and powers of ten checked on every line |
| Organic, 33 | Aldehydes, Ketones and Carboxylic Acids (8), Biomolecules (7), Haloalkanes and Haloarenes (6), Alcohols, Phenols and Ethers (6), Amines (6) | Conversions written as chains; distinguishing tests; short structures |
| Inorganic, 14 | The d- and f-Block Elements (7), Coordination Compounds (7) | One clear reason per trend; naming and isomers |
The paper allows three hours for five lettered sections, offers internal choice in a few questions, and bans calculators and log tables. Roughly two-fifths of it checks recall and understanding; the rest asks the student to apply, analyse or evaluate. A chapter-wise treatment is in our Class 12 organic and inorganic chemistry guide, and the Class 12 chemistry tutor page shows a board-year schedule.
For 2026-27, CBSE has taken the solid state and the p-block's Groups 15 to 18 out of the Class 12 syllabus entirely. A separate group of four stays in the classroom but is marked only internally: surface chemistry, polymers, chemistry in everyday life, and how elements are extracted from ores.
Entrance students should be careful. NTA releases the NEET and JEE syllabi separately, and material the board has dropped, parts of the p-block included, may still be examined there. Check the official entrance list before putting any notes away, and use the board list only for board revision.
The home session should follow the batch's chapter rather than run ahead, and give each branch the slow, personal attention a large room cannot.
End each session with two board-style "give reasons" questions, marked before the tutor leaves, so the Std XII paper keeps pace with entrance work.
More than families expect. Titration and salt analysis bring 8 marks each, an experiment linked to theory 6, the project 4, and the record with the viva another 4. This session's titration uses a permanganate solution against oxalic acid or Mohr's salt (ferrous ammonium sulphate), and each student weighs and prepares the standard solution personally.
Glassware and chemicals stay at school, yet at home a tutor can rehearse the molarity calculation for the weighed sample, a neat burette-reading table leading to the result, the sequence of salt analysis from preliminary tests to confirmatory ones, a project the student can genuinely carry out, and viva staples such as why no separate indicator is needed with permanganate.
Six localities on the north bank and the east side show the practical differences. Every locality is listed on our Madurai page.
Tallakulam is home to the Corporation's head office and Tamukkam Ground, with homes on side streets behind busy roads; a class that starts a little after the evening office rush suits a tutor coming over a bridge. In Sellur, evening traffic builds towards the Goripalayam junction, so agree an early-evening slot at the start and send a street name with a landmark.
Koodal Nagar and Vilangudi sit on the north-western side, both now inside the Corporation, and the Koodal Nagar railway station serves this corner. Ask for a tutor who already lives nearby, in Thathaneri, Sellur or Koodal Nagar itself, and share a map pin before the first visit. Roads into the centre are busiest in the morning and early evening.
K.K. Nagar mixes independent houses and apartment buildings close to the Mattuthavani bus terminus; tell the watchman or the association the tutor's name before the demo. In Melamadai, Vandiyur Lake is the landmark to give first, and an apartment security desk should know the tutor's timing in advance.
Close to the pre-boards, if a route turns unreliable, switch one weekly visit to an online lesson so revision does not slip. The North Madurai zone page has more local tips.
Specialists for these courses are fewer than for the State Board or CBSE, so ask early. If none can travel to you, pair an online specialist with a local tutor who marks the written practice.
Almost everything in Std XII leans on Std XI. Moles return in every solutions problem, equilibrium returns in electrochemistry, and the opening organic chapters return in each conversion. A shaky start therefore shows up a year later, on the board paper and in entrance mocks alike. One term of steady repair in Std XI usually saves far more effort than an emergency fix during the board year. See the Class 11 chemistry tutor page, or how we match in other cities on the national chemistry home tutor page.
Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Each tutor names their own rate, which tends to rise with the exam being targeted and the tutor's experience of it; the evening journey and the number of weekly sessions matter too. Every fee is visible before the demo, and the Madurai home tuition fees article lists the questions to ask.
Send the class and syllabus, your child's main exam, the branch that loses marks, the batch days, your locality and a landmark, and the free evenings. We reply with two or three chemistry tutors and their fees, and you choose whom to meet at a free demo class. A wrong first pick simply leads to another demo, and changing tutor later is free. Tutors who join go through an ID check; the Verified badge appears only after our team has reviewed the ID (read how we check tutors). If no suitable tutor can reach you, we propose online or part-online lessons. NXTutors has its office in Sector 66, Gurugram, and teaches online all over India. A Madurai student should send the chemistry class and syllabus, main exam, the branch that loses marks, batch days, locality with a landmark and free evenings. We reply with two or three matched tutors, each fee shown before the first class. The first class is a free demo, and switching tutor later is free.
Yes, a Madurai chemistry tutor can teach straight from the Tamil Nadu Higher Secondary textbook in the medium your child writes in, and keep the practical record moving. The Directorate of Government Examinations sets and revises the Std XII scheme, and has a regional office in Madurai, so take exam details from dge.tn.gov.in.
A chemistry home tutor adds a slower, personal hour to a Madurai NEET or JEE batch, following the batch chapter rather than running ahead. Physical numericals are watched line by line, an organic reaction map is redrawn weekly, inorganic lines are quizzed from NCERT, and two board-style reasons are marked before leaving.
A Madurai CBSE student should secure electrochemistry first, worth 9 of the 70 Class 12 chemistry theory marks, then aldehydes, ketones and carboxylic acids at 8. By branch, organic holds 33 marks, physical 23 and inorganic 14, so conversion practice belongs in every week. Calculators and log tables are banned.
A Madurai CBSE student can skip the solid state and p-block Groups 15 to 18 for the 2026-27 board paper, since both are out of the Class 12 syllabus. NTA sets NEET and JEE syllabi separately, and some of that material may still appear there, so check before discarding notes.
A Madurai tutor can rehearse much of the 30-mark CBSE chemistry practical at home, even with glassware at school. Titration and salt analysis carry 8 each, a theory-linked experiment 6, the project 4, record and viva 4. Practise molarity for the student-weighed permanganate standard against oxalic acid or Mohr's salt.
Yes, a chemistry tutor can usually visit KK Nagar in Madurai in the evening, since it sits close to the Mattuthavani bus terminus and tutors arrive by bus or two-wheeler. In an apartment, tell the watchman or association the tutor's name before the demo, and allow margin near the busy terminus.
Std XI is usually the right time to start chemistry tuition in Madurai, because moles, equilibrium and the first organic chapters return throughout Std XII. Weakness shows up a year later in solutions, electrochemistry and conversions, so one term of steady repair in Std XI lightens the board year and entrance preparation.
If no ISC, IB or IGCSE chemistry specialist can travel to a Madurai home, pair an online specialist with a local tutor who marks written practice. These specialists are fewer than State Board or CBSE tutors, so ask early. Near the pre-boards, an unreliable route can also move one weekly visit online.
