Tutors who join go through an ID check. Tell us the class, board and your area: we share two or three matched tutors, each with their fee, and the first class is a free demo, at home or online.
Book a free demo classAcross NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Tutors set their own fee, and you see each tutor's fee before the demo class.
Monthly example: 3 one-hour classes a week ≈ ₹9,600–₹32,500 a month (12–13 classes at ₹800–₹2,500 an hour). An example, not a quote: your tutor's own fee decides the real figure.

In a lot of Nanded homes, English lives inside one schoolbag rather than at the dinner table. Conversation may run in Marathi, grandparents may speak Urdu or Hindi, and the child's other subjects may be taught in a Marathi, Urdu or semi-English class. The English paper still expects a neat formal letter, an accurate reading answer and a literature response with a point of view. So the job of an English tutor here is to build one reliable written voice first and a spoken one next, not to bury the child in worksheets. Share the board, the worry and the languages in the house. NXTutors suggests two or three English tutors with their fees, and your first lesson with the chosen one is a free demo.
Same subject name, quite different papers. Before the first lesson, the tutor should know which of these your child is working towards:
Nanded has Marathi-, Urdu-, English- and semi-English-medium classes, so the same SSC or HSC English paper is written by children with very different amounts of English around them. For some it is the only paper in English all year. We do not quote the board's English marks; read the current scheme and the sample papers on mahahsscboard.in, and expect the tutor to teach from them and the prescribed textbook.
Across mediums, three routines do most of the work. Every comprehension answer is checked against a line in the passage. Each writing format, such as a letter or report, is learnt once and then filled with new content week after week. Literature answers are sketched as three or four points before a sentence is written. Other State Board subjects are on our Maharashtra Board home tutor in Nanded page.
The two readers are First Flight and Footprints Without Feet. Literature takes 40 of the 80 written marks, so it deserves the largest slice of tuition time. Reading is next with 20, from one discursive passage and one factual, case-based passage that includes a chart or data. Grammar is worth 10, and writing another 10: a formal letter for 5 and an analytical paragraph on a graph, chart or map for 5. Inside the 20 internal marks, 5 are for listening and speaking.
Practical consequences: correct two literature answers every week; time each reading attempt and ask the child to show the line behind every answer; collect grammar errors from the child's own writing instead of random exercises; and fix the letter and paragraph layouts early so later practice can focus on ideas.
Some Nanded children move from Urdu- or Marathi-medium classes into English around Class 6 or Class 8. Usually the subject ideas are fine and the language is what slows them down. A tutor can plan the first term in three phases:
| Phase | In lessons | At home between lessons |
|---|---|---|
| Weeks 1–4: bridge | New words explained in Marathi, Urdu or Hindi, then used in an English sentence; short two-way translations to find tense and word-order slips | Ten lines of easy reading a day and a two-word notebook |
| Weeks 5–8: build | Ready-made openings and linking words for letters, paragraphs and literature answers | One short paragraph written and photographed for the tutor |
| Weeks 9 onward: English only | Lessons run fully in English, with the home language kept for real sticking points | Reading aloud to a family member for a few pages |
Tell us which language your child is most at ease in, so we suggest a tutor who can use it in the opening weeks.
Early on, the aim is fluent reading, neat letters and a liking for stories; exam technique comes much later. Warning signs are a child who guesses a word from its first letter, skips lines, or quietly avoids books. Frequent short sessions work better than one long one, mixing phonics for new words, reading aloud with kind correction, and telling the story back in the child's own words. Sitting in on part of the first few lessons shows you quickly whether your child is relaxed with the tutor. Where English is rarely heard at home, picture talk in simple English is a gentle start.
CBSE English Core in Class 11 weights reading at 26, grammar with creative writing at 23 and literature at 31, taught from Hornbill and Snapshots, with Flamingo and Vistas following in Class 12. ISC students write a language paper, including a composition of 400 to 450 words from six topics plus directed writing and a proposal, and a separate literature paper. IGCSE families should check first-language or second-language entry, and IB Language A students need regular unseen analysis and oral practice. HSC students follow the board's current scheme, and those taking English Literature have a second paper to plan for. Specialists for ISC, IGCSE and IB English are few in Nanded, so online lessons are common; our national English home tutor page covers each course further.
It can. Speaking and listening carry internal marks in CBSE and CISCE, and a child who talks about a text usually writes about it better. Close every lesson with a one-minute retelling, then build up to short talks and unplanned questions. If fluency for interviews or college presentations is the real goal, mention it, since a different kind of tutor may suit.
A tutor based near you is the easiest to keep on a weekly slot. Our Nanded home tuition page covers every locality.
In Hyder Bagh, give both spellings, Hyder Bagh and Haider Bagh, plus the lane; families here often ask for help after a move from Urdu or Marathi medium. Shivaji Nagar is mostly family homes, and many requests are for reading and handwriting in the primary classes; add "Nanded" to the name and fix one weekday and hour for the whole term.
Anand Nagar, Harsh Nagar and Vasant Nagar share their edges, so one tutor can often cover all three. Harsh Nagar parents of young children tend to want short, frequent lessons; in Vasant Nagar, Class 10 writing and literature come up often, with weekend revision in the board year. Give the building and flat number.
In Taroda, say Taroda Bk or Taroda Kh. Families who moved here recently sometimes have a child who changed board, so bring the old book list to the demo.
The Vazirabad and Shivaji Nagar and Anand Nagar and Vasant Nagar zone pages hold more local tips, and the Nanded home tuition guide walks through every zone, including New Nanded south of the Godavari.
From roughly Class 3, English travels well on a screen if the tutor receives written work beforehand, as notebook photos or a shared file, and going online widens the pool to ISC, IGCSE and IB specialists. In-person lessons matter more for new readers, for a child adjusting to a new medium, and for speaking. Our online tutors for Nanded page describes the set-up. Whichever you choose, use the free demo to check five things: the tutor reads a marked school answer before teaching; your child is comfortable and English gradually takes over the conversation; your child actually writes or speaks; the tutor can explain the layout of your child's paper; and you leave with checked homework and a plan for the coming weeks. If you are unsure, ask for a demo with another shortlisted tutor; a later change is free as well.
Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Rates are each tutor's own. Worth asking: which board's paper have you taught most, will you mark writing sent between lessons, and how often should my child be taught? All fees are visible before the demo, and the Nanded home tuition fees guide has other questions.
Five details help us match well: class and board; the main concern (reading, writing, grammar, literature or speaking); the languages spoken at home and used at school; locality plus a landmark; and the hours you can offer. You then receive two or three English tutors with fees. Tutors who join go through an ID check; the Verified badge appears only after the ID check is complete (how the ID check works). Nanded's maths and science pages cover other subjects; elsewhere in the state, see English tuition in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar or our Solapur hub. English teachers in Nanded can find nearby students on the Nanded tuition jobs page.
Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Nanded English tutors set their own fees, shown before the demo. Ask whether they mark writing sent between lessons.
You tell us the class and board, the main concern, the languages used at home and school, your locality and your free hours. NXTutors sends two or three English tutors with their fees. The first lesson is a free demo, and you can switch tutor later at no cost.
Yes, the State Board lists English Literature as an optional HSC subject with code 22, separate from compulsory English, code 01. A Nanded student taking both has two papers to plan for. Read the current scheme for each on mahahsscboard.in and tell the tutor which ones your child will sit.
A child who moved from Urdu medium can usually catch up within a term with a planned bridge. The tutor explains new words in Urdu first, uses short two-way translations, then moves to ready phrases and finally to lessons fully in English. Daily easy reading at home speeds this up a great deal.
Literature carries the most, 40 of the 80 written marks in 2026-27, drawn from First Flight and Footprints Without Feet. Reading is worth 20, grammar 10 and writing 10. A tutor who corrects two literature answers every week usually moves marks faster than extra grammar drills.
For a semi-English medium student in Nanded, the tutor should build steady reading and writing in English while the home language supports understanding. Comprehension answers should be traced to a line in the passage, letter formats learnt once, and literature answers planned in points before being written in full.
A Class 2 child in Shivaji Nagar or Harsh Nagar usually does well with short, frequent lessons rather than one long session. Phonics for new words, reading aloud with gentle correction and retelling stories build confidence. A fixed day and hour, and a parent sitting in early on, help the child settle.
An English home tutor can help with speaking, and CBSE and CISCE both mark listening and speaking internally. Retelling each passage aloud, then short talks and unplanned questions, builds fluency. If interviews or college presentations are the main goal, say so in the request so we suggest a suitable tutor.
Tutors for ISC, IGCSE and IB English are few in Nanded, so online lessons are a common choice for these courses. An online tutor can mark notebook photos or a shared document before each lesson. Tell us the exact course, and for IGCSE whether the entry is first or second language.
For a Class 7 student, online English works well if the tutor receives written work before each lesson. Home lessons suit a child still settling after a change of medium or one who needs speaking practice. Many Nanded families mix the two, with one visit and one online lesson a week.
