What home tuition costs in Saharanpur

Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Tutors set their own fee, and you see each tutor's fee before the demo class.

Monthly example: 3 one-hour classes a week ≈ ₹9,600–₹32,500 a month (12–13 classes at ₹800–₹2,500 an hour). An example, not a quote: your tutor's own fee decides the real figure.

ICSE and ISC home tutors in Saharanpur: a council-trained tutor in a state-board city

The UP Board's own history page notes that only a few secondary schools in Uttar Pradesh follow the ICSE or CBSE, while most seek UP Board recognition. For an ICSE family in Saharanpur, that has one practical result: plenty of tutors know the state board well, but fewer know how the council marks a long English answer, a physics derivation or an ISC project. This page explains what CISCE asks for, how to judge a tutor against that standard, how ISC sits beside entrance work, what to weigh after Class 10, and how tutors reach six colonies in the central and southern parts of the city. It is written with Abhinandan Tiwary (ICSE maths), Aaditya Kashyap (ICSE science) and Ajay Vatsyayan (ISC maths).

Why a CISCE-trained tutor matters here

A tutor who mostly teaches UP Board students is used to a different paper. The state board's Class 11 maths, for example, is one 100-mark paper with no internal part, and its science subjects pair a 70-mark paper with a practical. ICSE in Class 10 splits science into three separate papers, follows texts the council prescribes, expects extended English answers in nearly every subject, and gives real weight to internal work. None of that makes a state-board tutor a poor choice, but it does mean you should ask for proof. A useful test in the demo is to hand the tutor a marked ICSE answer and ask where the marks were lost. Someone who knows the council's style can say at once.

How the Class 10 subjects are grouped

ICSE subject groups and their exam-to-internal split
GroupContentsPaper : internal
Group I (compulsory)English, a second language, and History, Civics and Geography80 : 20
Group II (two or three subjects)Choices that include Mathematics, Science, Commercial Studies, Economics, a modern foreign or classical language, and Environmental Science80 : 20
Group III (one subject)One applied subject, for example Computer Applications, Economic Applications, Art or Physical Education50 : 50

The Group III subject earns half its marks from internal work, so steady project work through Class 9 and 10 is worth far more than a late rush. Put the project deadlines on the family calendar in the first week of term.

Mathematics and the three science papers

In ICSE Mathematics, the written paper is worth 80. The other 20 come from internal assignments, two at the least, and both the subject teacher and an examiner from outside the school mark them. Banking, shares and other commercial arithmetic sit beside algebra, geometry, trigonometry and statistics, and the examiner wants every stage of working. A correct answer with steps missing still loses marks, so the tutor should check the working, not just the result.

Physics, Chemistry and Biology are three separate 80-mark papers, each with 20 marks of internal practical work. Strength in one does not carry the others. Ask early whether one tutor can teach all three to the same standard, or whether the weakest needs its own specialist. The council's specimen papers and its subject-wise Analysis of Pupil Performance, which shows where candidates lost marks, are the right reference for any tutor. Our science tutors in Saharanpur page covers Classes 9 and 10 in more detail.

Writing to the council's standard

In ICSE papers, how an answer is written matters nearly as much as what the student knows. A tutor can build that skill with a plain weekly habit.

  • One long answer, every session. Written by the student against the clock, then marked line by line for content, order and English.
  • Diagrams with labels. Biology and physics diagrams drawn in pencil, labelled neatly, every week.
  • A rotation of old chapters. Class 9 chapters come back in the Class 10 papers, so every few weeks one session returns to an older chapter.
  • English across subjects. A history answer with weak sentences loses marks too; the tutor should correct the language, not only the facts.
  • A dated project list. Checked at the start of each month, so no internal work is left to the end.

For literature and language papers, see English home tutors in Saharanpur.

ISC in Classes 11 and 12: rules to know early

  • Subjects. English for everyone, plus three to five electives, with no more than six subjects in total.
  • Fixed choices. Once a cut-off date in the Class 11 registration year has passed, the subject list is locked, and a Class 12 subject must have been studied in Class 11.
  • Promotion. 35% in four subjects, English included, and 75% attendance.
  • Practicals. Compulsory wherever a subject has them; Physics cannot be combined with Engineering Science.
  • The certificate. Grades go from 1 to 9. To pass, a student needs four subjects with English among them, and also Socially Useful Productive Work and Community Service.

In both ISC years, Mathematics is 80 marks of theory and 20 of project work. Agree the project topic in the first term, so it never competes with revision. For the paper itself, read our ISC maths tutor page and the ICSE and ISC maths guide, and maths home tutors in Saharanpur covers the subject locally.

ISC science beside JEE or NEET

The entrance syllabus is built on NCERT content, while ISC follows its own books and its own order, so the same topic can arrive at school months before or after an entrance student needs it. In the first weeks of Class 11, ask the tutor for a one-page map that pairs every ISC chapter with its NCERT counterpart and shows the month each is taught. The tutor then fills gaps in both directions, adding NCERT phrasing and quick objective practice where ISC is light, and keeping long answers, practicals and projects on track where entrance work does not look. See JEE and NEET home tutors in Saharanpur for the entrance side.

After Class 10: ISC, CBSE or the UP Board

Three paths after ICSE for a Saharanpur student
PathWhat changesBridge work in the gap
Stay with ISCSame council style; deeper electives; larger practical and project loadChoose electives carefully, since they are fixed early in Class 11
Move to CBSENCERT books, CBSE sample papers, shorter answers closer to the textbookRead the first NCERT chapters in physics and maths; see the CBSE page
Move to the UP BoardThe board's own syllabus files, papers in its style, a separate practical in science; the board runs advance registration for Class 11Read the board's Class 11 files on upmsp.edu.in and our UP Board page

Whichever way your child goes, decide before Class 11 begins, and spend the break after the Class 10 papers on the first chapters of the new course. Our guide to choosing a board and stream sets out the questions to ask.

How ICSE tutors reach six Saharanpur localities

  • Gill Colony: central and south of the railway line; tutors come from most colonies. With working parents, say who opens the door and who hears the tutor's update.
  • Khan Alampura: east of the centre near Janak Nagar; families who arrive mid-year should share the chapters the old school finished.
  • Chander Nagar: just south of the centre; Chander Nagar Park is the handiest landmark.
  • Haqikatnagar: shops among the homes; write both spellings and the lane.
  • Avas Vikas Colony: tutors come down NH709B; say whether you are in the older colony or New Awas Vikas.
  • Pant Vihar: on the outer south-west; fewer tutors live inside, so an ISC elective specialist may need to teach online.

The Mission Compound and Gill Colony, Haqikatnagar and Paper Mill Road and Pant Vihar and Navin Nagar zone pages add timing advice, and the Saharanpur home tuition guide explains each zone.

Home or online for ICSE?

Up to Class 10, keep maths and the three sciences at home if you can; the council marks every line of working, and a tutor beside the notebook catches slips early. Screens work well for an ISC elective or a literature paper taught by someone far away, for quick checks before exams, and for the outer colonies. Families can also look at ICSE and ISC tutors on our Meerut and Lucknow pages who teach online. Online maths or science only works if the tutor watches the working as it is written. See online tutors for Saharanpur.

Demo questions that reveal CISCE experience

  1. Ask which specimen paper and which year's Analysis of Pupil Performance the tutor teaches from.
  2. Given a marked ICSE answer, can the tutor say where the marks went?
  3. In maths, does the tutor insist on every step and a clearly stated final answer?
  4. When an answer is right but badly written, does the tutor fix the English as well?
  5. For ISC, can the tutor guide a project without doing it for your child?

The shortlist we send has two or three tutors, every fee is visible in advance, and a later switch costs nothing. Tutors who join go through an ID check; the Verified badge appears only after the ID check is complete (how we check tutors).

ICSE Home Tutor in Saharanpur (ICSE & ISC, Classes 6–12): common questions

What does an ICSE or ISC home tutor cost in Saharanpur?

Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. An ICSE or ISC tutor in Saharanpur sets their own fee, which you see before the demo.

How does NXTutors find an ICSE tutor for a family in Saharanpur?

For an ICSE family in Saharanpur, NXTutors looks first at tutors near your colony, then across the zone and city, then online. You get two or three matched tutors with fees shown, and the first class is a free demo. Switching tutor later is free if the fit is wrong.

Why should a Saharanpur ICSE student look for a CISCE-trained tutor?

A Saharanpur ICSE student gains from a CISCE-trained tutor because the council marks long English answers, three separate science papers and internal work in its own way. The UP Board says most Uttar Pradesh schools follow it, so many local tutors know the state paper better. Test the tutor with a marked answer.

How are ICSE Class 10 subjects split between paper and internal marks?

ICSE Class 10 subjects in Groups I and II are marked 80 for the paper and 20 internal, while the single Group III subject is 50 and 50. Saharanpur students should keep Group III project work moving through Class 9 and 10, since half its marks come from it.

How is ICSE Class 10 mathematics assessed?

ICSE Class 10 mathematics is one 80-mark paper with 20 internal marks from at least two assignments. The school teacher and an external examiner both mark them. Examiners want every step of working, so a Saharanpur tutor should check each line, not just the final answer.

What ISC rules should a Saharanpur family know before Class 11?

A Saharanpur family should know that ISC needs English plus three to five electives, up to six subjects. Choices are fixed after a set date in the Class 11 registration year. Promotion needs 35% in four subjects including English and 75% attendance, and practicals are compulsory where a subject has them.

How can an ISC science student in Saharanpur keep pace with JEE or NEET?

An ISC science student in Saharanpur can keep pace with JEE or NEET through a one-page chapter map made early in Class 11. It lists each ISC chapter, its NCERT match and when each is due. The tutor then adds NCERT wording and objective practice while keeping ISC practicals and projects on time.

Should an ICSE student in Saharanpur move to the UP Board for Class 11?

An ICSE student in Saharanpur can move to the UP Board for Class 11, but should read the board's Class 11 files on upmsp.edu.in first. The state board uses its own syllabus files and paper style, with a separate practical in science. Decide before Class 11 begins and bridge the gap.

How do ICSE tutors reach Gill Colony, Chander Nagar or Pant Vihar?

ICSE tutors reach Gill Colony from most of Saharanpur because it is central. In Chander Nagar, use Chander Nagar Park as the landmark. Pant Vihar on the outer south-west has fewer tutors living inside, so an ISC elective specialist may teach online while a nearby tutor takes maths.

Which ICSE subjects should stay at home rather than online in Saharanpur?

For Saharanpur ICSE students in Classes 6 to 10, maths and the three sciences should usually stay at home, where the tutor marks each written line. Online suits an ISC elective or literature specialist who lives far away, short checks before exams, and families in the outer colonies.
