Saharanpur Home Tuition Guide: Old City, Behat Road, Ambala Road, Gill Colony and the South
Saharanpur spreads outward from its old walled city and the railway junction at its centre. For tuition, think of six groups of colonies: the old city around Nawabganj, the north along Behat Road, the west towards Ambala Road, the central belt south of the junction, the south-east along Paper Mill Road, and the outer south-west around Pant Vihar. Below, all twenty localities, with the address detail and timing that suit each.
Roads and landmarks a tutor will know
Most tutors here ride a two-wheeler, so a known landmark beats a long postal address. Saharanpur Junction, which the district administration describes as centrally located, stands at New Patel Nagar and is the reference point most people use. Three main roads leave the city: NH 344 heads west for Yamunanagar and Ambala and east for Roorkee, NH 709B starts in Saharanpur and runs south towards Shamli and Delhi, and State Highway 57, the Delhi-Yamunotri road, passes through the old city side.
| Zone | Road or landmark to mention | Watch out for on a first visit |
|---|---|---|
| Old City & Nawabganj | SH 57, Nawabganj, the old city lanes | Narrow lanes and house numbers that are hard to follow |
| Behat Road & Madhav Nagar | Behat Road, Janta Road | Several small colonies with similar names |
| Ambala Road & Patel Nagar | Saharanpur Junction, Ambala Road (NH 344), the Nakur road | Through vehicles on Ambala Road at busy hours |
| Mission Compound & Gill Colony | The junction, Delhi Road, Gangod Road | Which side of the railway line you are on |
| Haqikatnagar & Paper Mill Road | Paper Mill Road, NH 709B | Two spellings of the same name |
| Pant Vihar & Navin Nagar | Chander Nagar Park, Nawada Road | Outer colonies that are new to many tutors |
Old City & Nawabganj
This is the part of Saharanpur that grew inside the old city walls, and old names such as Lakhi Gate and Nakhasa still serve as everyday landmarks. Homes sit close together, often beside shops, and a tutor from one colony can usually reach the others on a short ride.
Nawabganj: one of the older parts of the city, where family homes and shops share the lanes, with Behat Road, Ram Jivan Nagar and Subhash Nagar around it. Name the lane, a known shop and your gate colour.
Subhash Nagar: a settled area of family houses between the old city and the western roads, with Pratap Nagar and Mehandi Sarai close by. Send the gali name and a turning that shows on a map app.
Mehandi Sarai: a residential neighbourhood on the western edge of the old city, near Purani Mandi, Kamela Colony and Patel Nagar. Some streets are narrow, so tell the tutor where to leave a two-wheeler and give a phone number that someone at home will answer.
Behat Road & Madhav Nagar
This northern side spreads along and beyond the roads that lead out towards Behat, a town in the north of the district. Colonies are spaced more widely than in the old city, so the nearest suitable tutor may live a colony or two away.
Krishna Nagar: a quieter pocket of family houses near the Behat Road side, with West Krishna Nagar, Ahmed Colony and the Mandi Samiti area listed nearby. The two Krishna Nagars are easy to confuse, so say clearly which one you live in.
Pratap Nagar: a residential colony on the north-western side of the centre, with Mehandi Sarai, Kamela Colony and the Municipal Colony listed around it. Add the block or gali and a landmark an outsider would recognise.
Madhav Nagar: a residential area in the north-east, beyond the older centre, surrounded by small colonies such as Bhagwati Colony, Gyan Vihar and Keshav Nagar. Put the small colony name before the house number.
Numaish Camp: a residential area on the eastern side, with Janta Road, Behat Road and Nawabganj listed near it. Give the lane and the turning you use from Janta Road or Behat Road.
Ambala Road & Patel Nagar
The western side of central Saharanpur runs along the railway line and out along Ambala Road. NH 344 leaves the city on this side for Yamunanagar and Ambala, so the road carries a steady flow of through vehicles at busy hours.
Patel Nagar: beside the railway line, with Khalasi Lines, the Railway Colony and the Tobacco Factory Colony listed around it. New Patel Nagar next door is where the junction stands. Write Patel Nagar or New Patel Nagar exactly, then the lane and house number.
Sharda Nagar: a residential area on the Ambala Road side, with Ankit Vihar, Railway Road and Pratap Nagar listed nearby. It lies a little away from the centre, so ask the tutor how they will travel and pick an hour away from the early evening rush on Ambala Road.
Kamela Colony: a colony of family homes in the west, where the road to Nakur begins; its urban primary health centre on that road is a handy stop-and-call point. Give a clear turning off the Nakur road so the tutor does not have to ask around.
Mission Compound & Gill Colony
The central belt lies just south and east of Saharanpur Junction, which opened in 1868 and sits on the Moradabad-Ambala, Delhi-Meerut-Saharanpur and Delhi-Shamli-Saharanpur lines. Being central, these colonies draw tutors from almost every part of the city, which helps when a senior subject needs a specialist.
Mission Compound: a central area just south of the junction, with Gill Colony, Kapil Vihar, Narayanpuri and the Railway Colony listed nearby. Name the chapter your child needs help with, not only the subject, and send a map pin with the house name or number.
Gill Colony: a residential colony south of the railway line, between Mission Compound, Kapil Vihar, New Kapil Vihar and Janak Nagar. In homes where both parents work, tell the tutor who will open the door and who to speak to after class.
Janak Nagar: a colony of family houses on the eastern side of the centre, beside Khan Alampura and Gill Colony, with Delhi Road and Gangod Road listed nearby. Give the turning from Delhi Road.
Khan Alampura: an area of family houses near Janak Nagar, Kapil Vihar and Ram Nagar, which also gives its name to an Indian Railways electric loco shed commissioned in 2015. If you moved here mid-year, tell the tutor which chapters the old school covered.
Haqikatnagar & Paper Mill Road
The south-east of central Saharanpur runs along the Paper Mill Road side, where most new listings are residential plots. NH 709B, which starts in Saharanpur and runs to Delhi through Shamli and Baghpat, passes the New Awas Vikas side.
Haqikatnagar (Hakikat Nagar): a busier pocket where shops sit among the homes, near Chander Nagar, Gill Colony and Punjabi Bagh. Write both spellings, with the lane and house number.
Raj Vihar Colony: a colony of family houses beside the Paper Mill Road side, with Punjabi Bagh, Himmat Nagar and Kapil Vihar listed around it. Give the turning from Paper Mill Road.
Avas Vikas Colony (Awas Vikas): a residential colony in the south with a newer part, New Awas Vikas, beside NH 709B. Say which part you live in, block number first. Tutors coming down the highway keep better time outside the early evening rush.
Pant Vihar & Navin Nagar
The south-western colonies sit on the outer side of the city, with Indraprasth Colony, Rohit Vihar, Sawalpur Nawada, Vasant Vihar and Vinay Nagar around them. Fewer tutors live inside these colonies, so NXTutors often looks first at tutors who already travel here, then at the wider city and online.
Pant Vihar: a residential colony where plots stand alongside houses, near Navin Nagar and Indraprasth Colony. Name a neighbouring colony the tutor may know, such as Indraprasth Colony or Rohit Vihar, and share a map pin the evening before the first visit.
Navin Nagar (Naveen Nagar): a colony of family houses near Pant Vihar, Chander Nagar and the Nawada Road side. Map apps and residents use both spellings, so write both, along with a corner people know.
Chander Nagar (Chandra Nagar): a residential colony just south of the centre, near Mission Compound and the Railway Colony. Chander Nagar Park is a clear landmark; say which side of it you live on.
Boards and subjects across the city
Saharanpur students follow the UP Board, CBSE or the CISCE's ICSE and ISC. The UP Board, officially the Madhyamik Shiksha Parishad, Uttar Pradesh, holds the High School examination after Class 10 and the Intermediate examination after Class 12; its site, upmsp.edu.in, is the place for notices and results. The board lists its Regional Office at Meerut for exam and result matters in Saharanpur district.
Each board has its own page on NXTutors, and so does each main subject. Pick the one closest to your child's need:
| If your child needs | Start here |
|---|---|
| High School or Intermediate help on the state syllabus | UP Board tutors in Saharanpur |
| NCERT-based classes and CBSE board practice | CBSE home tutors in Saharanpur |
| Longer written answers for ICSE or ISC | ICSE and ISC tutors in Saharanpur |
| One subject, from early classes to Class 12 | Maths, science, physics, chemistry, biology or English |
| Entrance preparation next to Class 11 and 12 | JEE or NEET home tutors; both exams are run by the National Testing Agency, whose site, nta.ac.in, carries the current bulletin |
Mention the medium your child writes exams in along with the board, so the tutor's explanations match the answer sheet as well as the textbook.
Choosing between a home visit and a screen
Younger children usually do better with a tutor sitting beside them. A screen makes sense for a specialist who lives on the far side of the city or outside it, or when the only free hour comes late at night. You can add an online tutor for Saharanpur students for a single subject without dropping a home tutor. Read home tuition fees in Saharanpur for quotes, and home tutor or online tutor for the general trade-offs.
Other Uttar Pradesh hubs on NXTutors include Meerut, Lucknow, Kanpur and Agra; for home visits, though, we always look within Saharanpur first.
How NXTutors can help
Send us your child's class, board, exam medium and subjects, and name your Saharanpur colony. You receive two or three matched tutors. We look first at tutors living closest to you, then across your zone and the city, and bring in online tutors from other parts of India where a subject calls for it. Every tutor's fee is visible before the demo, each first class is a free demo, and moving to another tutor later costs you nothing. Tutors who join go through an ID check; the Verified badge appears only after the ID check is complete. Our page on how we check tutors sets out the steps.
Open home tutors in Saharanpur to begin, print the demo class checklist for parents, or go straight to a free demo class. If you teach in Saharanpur yourself, open family requests are listed under Saharanpur tuition jobs, and joining is free.
Frequently asked questions
How many Saharanpur localities and zones are in this guide?
Twenty Saharanpur localities, grouped into six zones, are covered here, running from Nawabganj in the old city to Pant Vihar on the south-western side. Every locality name links to a page of its own, where you find address tips for that colony and the tutors NXTutors can suggest there.
Which Saharanpur landmark helps a tutor find our home?
The landmark that helps most is one any Saharanpur rider knows, such as the junction, Ambala Road, Behat Road, Paper Mill Road or Chander Nagar Park. After it, write the colony, lane and house number. Older lanes need a corner shop and gate colour too, while outer colonies need a map pin.
Why do some Saharanpur localities need two spellings in the address?
Several Saharanpur localities are written in two ways, such as Haqikatnagar and Hakikat Nagar, Navin Nagar and Naveen Nagar, or Chander Nagar and Chandra Nagar. Map apps and residents use both forms. Writing both in your request helps a tutor who is searching on a phone find your home on the first visit.
Does NXTutors have tutors for UP Board students in Saharanpur?
NXTutors looks for UP Board tutors in Saharanpur once you tell us the class, the subject and whether your child writes in Hindi or English. The shortlist favours tutors who teach the High School or Intermediate syllabus and live nearby. When none fits, online tutors familiar with the state board are added.
What happens when our Saharanpur colony has no tutor nearby?
When your Saharanpur colony has no tutor nearby, the search moves outward. We check tutors who already travel your way, then your zone, the wider city, and online tutors in other states. A common answer is a home tutor for the main subject and an online class for whatever is left.
What checks apply to tutors suggested in Saharanpur?
Tutors who join NXTutors, in Saharanpur or elsewhere, go through an ID check, and the Verified badge appears only after the ID check is complete. Each request brings two or three matched tutors with fees shown before the demo. First classes are free demos, and a later change of tutor is free.
