What home tuition costs in Dhanbad

Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Tutors set their own fee, and you see each tutor's fee before the demo class.

Monthly example: 3 one-hour classes a week ≈ ₹9,600–₹32,500 a month (12–13 classes at ₹800–₹2,500 an hour). An example, not a quote: your tutor's own fee decides the real figure.

Maths home tutor in Dhanbad: start from the board, the class and the lane you live on

Ask three Dhanbad parents about maths tuition and you may hear about three different papers. One child sits the Jharkhand Academic Council exam, a neighbour studies for CBSE, and a cousin across town follows ICSE and then ISC. The chapters look alike from a distance, yet each board marks working in its own way, and a tutor who knows only one of them can drill the wrong habits. So the first step is simple: tell NXTutors the class, the board and your locality, from Hirapur to Saraidhela, and we send two or three maths tutors who suit all three. You see every tutor's fee before you meet, and the first class is a free demo.

Which maths paper will your child actually write?

Two named authors stand behind the exam detail on this page. Ajay Vatsyayan covers the IB, IGCSE and ISC maths sections, and Abhinandan Tiwary covers Class 10 maths for CBSE and ICSE. The Jharkhand board is described from the council's own website. Find your child's row first; the last column is a fair opening question for any tutor.

How should tuition work for a JAC maths student?

The Jharkhand Academic Council, based in Ranchi, holds the Secondary examination at Class 10 and the Intermediate examination at Class 12, and it prescribes the courses of study for both. The council was set up under the Jharkhand Academic Council Act of 2002. Its website in 2026 also runs special or compartmental exam portals for Classes 8, 9, 10, 11 and 12, so the council's reach starts well before the board year. Because the council revises its syllabus and question design from time to time, this page gives no JAC paper pattern; the official site, jac.jharkhand.gov.in, is the place to check.

What we can say is how a good JAC maths tutor works. Three habits matter:

  • Teaching from the prescribed book. The tutor uses the textbook the school follows, not a guidebook from another board. The council's site links to NCERT e-books and JCERT e-content, which helps if a copy goes missing mid-year.
  • The medium your child writes in. Many JAC students write maths in Hindi. Explanations can mix languages, but written steps should use the words your child will put on the answer sheet.
  • Practice from the council's own model papers. The JAC site publishes model question papers. Working through them in full, with every step written, is the closest rehearsal for the real paper.

For the other JAC subjects, see our Jharkhand board tutors in Dhanbad page.

CBSE Class 10 maths: where do the 80 marks come from?

CBSE's 2026-27 Class 10 course has 14 NCERT chapters grouped in seven units, and the paper keeps the design of the previous session. Algebra is the largest unit at 20 marks; it covers polynomials, pairs of linear equations, quadratic equations and arithmetic progressions. Geometry brings 15, trigonometry with heights and distances 12, statistics and probability 11, and mensuration 10. Real numbers and coordinate geometry carry 6 marks each.

The paper itself has five sections. Section A has 20 questions of one mark, 18 of them multiple-choice and 2 of the assertion–reason type. Section B has five questions worth two marks, C has six worth three, D has four worth five, and E closes with three case studies of four marks each. No calculator is allowed, and π is 22/7 unless the question says otherwise.

Standard and Basic cover the same chapters but at different depth. Around 54% of the Standard paper tests remembering and understanding, while in Basic the figure is around 75%. A child who may want maths in Class 11 should take Standard. CBSE also offers an optional second Class 10 exam to improve up to three subjects, and maths can be one of them; for dates, rely only on cbse.gov.in. Our Class 10 maths preparation guide, the board-year planner and the Class 10 maths tutor page go into more detail.

Classes 11 and 12: what should a home tutor take on, and what should it leave?

Senior maths is where a home tutor either earns a place or simply adds more time at the desk. A tutor who repeats the school lesson word for word adds little. The useful work is more targeted, and it usually falls into three tasks:

  1. Mending Class 11. Functions, trigonometry and limits from Class 11 hold up most of Class 12. A tutor who spots a weak base early saves a hard year later.
  2. Writing for the board. On the CBSE Class 12 paper, 38 compulsory questions make up 80 marks, and calculus alone accounts for 35. Board examiners want complete working, so the tutor marks full written answers, not just final values.
  3. Keeping a mistakes register. After every school test, each lost mark goes into one of three columns: a gap in the idea, a slip in arithmetic, or a question read wrongly. The next fortnight's plan comes from that register.

If your child is also writing JEE Main, the 2026 Paper 1 set 25 maths questions, 20 multiple-choice and 5 with a numerical answer, with +4 for each right answer and −1 for a wrong one. NTA publishes the pattern afresh each year, so confirm it on jeemain.nta.nic.in. Our JEE maths topic-wise guide, the Class 12 calculus and algebra guide, the Class 12 maths tutor page and our JEE home tutors in Dhanbad page take this further.

ICSE, ISC, IB and IGCSE maths: what changes?

ICSE Class 10
The written maths paper carries 80 marks, and internal assessment adds 20. ICSE examiners expect neat, fully shown working, so a tutor should insist on each line being written, even in short sums.
ISC Class 12
For the 2027 and 2028 exams, CISCE sets a single 80-mark paper in seven units and removes the old choice between Sections B and C. Vectors, three-dimensional geometry, linear programming and probability all become compulsory. Calculus is worth 35 marks. Two projects add 20, each marked out of 10 for format, content, findings and viva. Our ICSE and ISC maths guide lays out the units.
IB Diploma
Analysis and Approaches stresses algebra, functions, calculus and proof, with one paper taken without a calculator. Applications and Interpretation stresses modelling and statistics and uses a graphic display calculator throughout. At SL there are two papers at 40% each; at HL, two at 30% and a third at 20%. The exploration supplies the final 20% and must be the student's own work. See the IB maths AA or AI guide.
Cambridge IGCSE
The Core tier tops out at grade C, while Extended runs from A* to G. Settle the tier with the school well before entries close.

Teachers for ISC, IB and IGCSE can be fewer on the ground than JAC or CBSE teachers, so name the course clearly in your first message. When no one suitable lives close by, an online specialist can teach the course while a local tutor checks weekly practice at home.

Classes 5 to 8: is a maths tutor needed this early?

Often the most useful maths tuition happens before any board paper is in sight. Fractions, decimals, ratio and early algebra are the base for every later chapter, and a child who guesses through them in Class 6 tends to struggle in Class 9. In these years, a tutor's job is to slow down: ask the child to say each step aloud, check the school diary, and fix one weak idea at a time. Two or three sessions a week usually work better than one long one. If two children at home need help, mention both in a single request; one tutor may be able to take them one after the other.

What should you tell a maths tutor about your locality in Dhanbad?

Central Dhanbad's localities sit close together, so a tutor who already teaches in one of them can often fit in a lesson nearby on the same evening. You can compare tutors by locality on our Dhanbad page; these six show what to share before the first visit.

Six Dhanbad localities: the homes you find, the address detail a tutor needs, and a timing tip

The Hirapur and Dhaiya zone page has more local detail, and the Dhanbad home tuition guide covers every part of the city, from Katras to Sindri.

What should you watch for in the free maths demo?

Ask the tutor to teach the chapter your child is doing in school this week rather than a prepared topic, and keep the last test paper on the table. Four signs tell you a lot:

  • Reading before teaching. The tutor looks at a few old answers first and finds where marks went.
  • Mistakes given names. A sign slip, a misread question and a missing idea are each fixed in a different way, and the tutor says which is which.
  • Layout that fits the board. The working on the page looks the way a JAC, CBSE or CISCE examiner expects.
  • A plan you can repeat. By the end you know the next three topics and what homework will be checked.

If the fit is not right, tell us and the next tutor on your shortlist takes a demo; switching tutor later is free too. Our demo class checklist for parents lists more questions.

Should maths tuition in Dhanbad be at home, online or both?

Sitting beside the child, a tutor catches a wrong step as it is written. That counts most for younger children, for geometry, and for students writing in Hindi whose terms need checking. Online lessons suit a specialist who lives in another part of the city, an ISC or IB course with few local teachers, or a week when the school timetable runs late. Many families settle on one home visit and one online session each week. Our home or online tutor article and the online tutors for Dhanbad page compare the two.

How much does a maths home tutor in Dhanbad charge?

Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Each tutor sets their own fee. When you compare, ask which board and class each tutor has taught lately, how many sessions a week they suggest, and whether an online session can stand in for a visit during exam weeks. All fees show before the demo, and our Dhanbad home tuition fees guide lists more questions to ask.

What should your request include?

Five details are enough to start: the class; the course by its full name (JAC, CBSE Standard or Basic, ICSE, ISC, IB or IGCSE); your locality with a landmark; the days and times that work around school; and the fee range you have in mind. We reply with two or three maths tutors and their fees, and you pick one for a free demo. If no suitable tutor can reach your locality at that hour, we suggest an online or mixed plan. Tutors who join go through an ID check; the Verified badge appears only after the ID check is complete (how the ID check works). NXTutors has its office in Sector 66, Gurugram, and teaches online across India. The national maths home tutor page explains how we match in general, and families elsewhere in Jharkhand can look at Ranchi or Jamshedpur. For science in Dhanbad, see science and physics.

Maths Home Tutor in Dhanbad: common questions

What should Dhanbad parents compare when looking at a maths tutor's fee?

Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Dhanbad maths tutors set their own fees, so ask each one which board they taught lately, how many weekly sessions they suggest, and whether an online class can replace a visit in exam weeks.

What details does NXTutors need to suggest maths tutors in Dhanbad?

NXTutors needs five details to suggest Dhanbad maths tutors. They are the class, the full course name such as JAC or CBSE Standard, your locality with a landmark, the times free around school, and a fee range. We send two or three matched tutors with fees shown first. The first class is a free demo, and switching tutor later is free.

Where can a JAC maths student in Dhanbad find the official syllabus and model papers?

A JAC maths student in Dhanbad should use the council's own website, jac.jharkhand.gov.in, for the current syllabus and model question papers. The site also links to NCERT e-books and JCERT e-content. A good tutor teaches from the book the school prescribes, in the medium your child writes in, and works through the model papers with every step shown.

Which units carry the most marks in CBSE Class 10 maths for a Dhanbad student?

For a Dhanbad student on CBSE Class 10, algebra carries the most, 20 of the 80 board marks in 2026-27. Geometry follows with 15, trigonometry 12, statistics and probability 11 and mensuration 10, while real numbers and coordinate geometry bring 6 each. A weekly plan that follows these weights keeps the heavy units in steady practice.

Should a Dhanbad Class 10 student choose CBSE Standard or Basic maths?

A Dhanbad Class 10 student who may take maths in Class 11 should choose CBSE Standard. Both levels share the same 14 chapters, but about 54% of Standard marks test remembering and understanding, against about 75% in Basic. A tutor can look at recent test answers before you decide, and the school confirms the final choice.

How can a home tutor help a Dhanbad student in Class 11 or 12 maths?

A home tutor helps a Dhanbad Class 11 or 12 student most by mending weak Class 11 topics, marking full board answers, and keeping a register of lost marks. On the CBSE Class 12 paper, calculus alone is worth 35 of the 80 marks across 38 compulsory questions, so complete written working matters as much as the final value.

What changes in ISC maths for Dhanbad students from the 2027 exam?

For Dhanbad students taking ISC maths in 2027 and 2028, CISCE sets one 80-mark paper in seven units and removes the choice between Sections B and C. Vectors, three-dimensional geometry, linear programming and probability become compulsory. Calculus is worth 35 marks, and two projects add 20, each marked out of 10.

What should a Kusum Vihar or Saraidhela family tell a maths tutor before the first visit?

A Kusum Vihar family should give the quarter number and type, or the block and flat number, and pass on the tutor's name if the entrance asks. In Saraidhela, name the colony, such as State Bank Colony or Subhash Nagar, and the lane off the main road towards Govindpur. Main-road homes there may prefer a slightly earlier slot.

What should a Dhanbad parent watch for in a free maths demo?

In a free maths demo, a Dhanbad parent should watch whether the tutor lets the child do the working. A good tutor asks the child to attempt one problem, spots the exact line where it went wrong, and explains only that step. Ask for a short plan for the next month, and check that the tutor marks written steps, not just answers.
