Dhanbad Home Tuition Guide: Hirapur, Bank More, Saraidhela, Bhuli, Jharia and Sindri
Dhanbad is not one compact town but several joined together. When the municipal corporation was formed in 2006, it brought the old Dhanbad municipality together with Jharia, Sindri, Katras and other towns and villages. For a family looking for a tutor, that shapes almost everything: which tutors live near enough to visit every week, how to describe the address, and when online lessons make more sense. This guide groups the city into five zones and walks through all eighteen localities one by one.
Landmarks a Dhanbad tutor will know
Most tutors here come on a two-wheeler or by auto, so a landmark everyone knows does more work than a long postal address. Dhanbad Junction is the city's main railway station and the headquarters of a railway division, on the Grand Chord line between Howrah and New Delhi. Luby Circular Road runs through Hirapur, Bank More is the city's garments hub, Dhansar Chowk is a well-known junction on the Jharia road, and National Highway 18 passes through Saraidhela. Further out, Bhuli has its own halt for local trains, and the line from Dhanbad has reached Katrasgarh since 1894.
| Zone | Localities | Landmark to send | The detail tutors most often need |
|---|---|---|---|
| Hirapur & Dhaiya | 3 | Luby Circular Road, the Barwada road | The lane you turn into, and which side of the road |
| Bank More & Jharia Road | 4 | Bank More, Katras Road, Dhansar Chowk | A side lane away from the shopping roads |
| Saraidhela & Koyla Nagar | 4 | NH 18, Koyla Bhawan, Kusum Vihar Road | Quarter number and type, or building and floor |
| Bhuli & Katras Side | 4 | Bhuli halt, Hirak Road, Katras Bazar | Block letter first in Bhuli; mohalla in Katras |
| Jharia & Sindri | 3 | The Jharia road, the Damodar side of Sindri | Current mohalla or quarter, and one clear landmark |
Hirapur & Dhaiya
This central belt is one of the easiest parts of Dhanbad for tuition, because the three localities sit side by side. A tutor who already teaches in one of them can often take a second class nearby on the same evening, which widens the choice for senior subjects.
Hirapur: one of the older addresses in the city; the subdivision's headquarters moved to Hirapur mouza in 1908. Homes, flats and offices line Luby Circular Road, with Bartand, Pandey Muhalla and Surya Vihar Colony close by. Name the lane you turn into from Luby Circular Road rather than the road alone.
Bartand: a residential neighbourhood between Hirapur and Dhaiya, with independent houses and apartment buildings. Say which side you are nearer, Hirapur or Dhaiya, so the tutor plans the route. If two children need help, put both in one request; one tutor can sometimes take them back to back.
Dhaiya: stretched along the main road towards Barwada, with Chanchani Colony and Jay Prakash Nagar among its neighbours. The same road passes many lanes, so give the colony or apartment block first and then the side of the road you live on.
Bank More & Jharia Road
The commercial side of central Dhanbad. The shopping roads stay crowded into the evening, while the lanes behind them are much calmer, so the right slot and a sensible approach route matter more here than distance.
Bank More: the city's garments hub, with Gandhi Road, Manaitand and Matkuria around it. Many homes are flats above or behind the shops. Give the building and floor, suggest a side lane for the tutor to use, and fix a time that does not fall in the busiest shopping hours.
Matkuria: along Katras Road next to Bank More, with much of its housing in apartment buildings. Tutors from Bank More, Manaitand and Shastri Nagar can all reach it easily. Send the apartment name, block and floor.
Manaitand: a quieter residential area of mostly independent houses on the Purana Bazar side, with ponds such as Chhath Talab, Singara Talab and Dhobi Bandh around it. Name the nearest pond, the turn from the main road and the colour of your gate.
Dhansar: on the road between Dhanbad and Jharia, around Dhansar Chowk, with houses and small apartment buildings in the lanes behind. Say whether you are on the main road or behind it, and name the closest turning from the Chowk. Tutors can come from either direction here.
Saraidhela & Koyla Nagar
The north-eastern side of the city, towards Govindpur. Township quarters and private flats sit close together, so the details a tutor needs change from one home to the next.
Saraidhela: a former census town that joined the corporation in 2006 and now forms part of Ward 39, with National Highway 18 running through it. State Bank Colony and Subhash Nagar are among its residential pockets. Name the colony first, then the lane off the main road.
Kusum Vihar: a residential area with Binod Nagar, Steel Gate and Kolakusma as neighbours, and much of its private housing in apartment buildings along Kusum Vihar Road. Part of the township also lies here. For a flat, give tower and flat number; for a quarter, the number and type as written on the door.
Steel Gate: a residential locality near Koyla Nagar, listed among the neighbours of Kusum Vihar, with mostly apartment buildings. Start the address with Steel Gate, then the lane, the building and the floor.
Koyla Nagar: the township around Koyla Bhawan, with Kusum Vihar and Steel Gate beside it. Families here sometimes arrive on a job transfer mid-session, so a tutor who can spot gaps between two boards is a real help. Give the full quarter number and road name, and pass the tutor's name on if the entry has a check.
Bhuli & Katras Side
The western side of Dhanbad. Bhuli, Nawadih and Jharudih share tutors easily, while Katras, at the far western end of the corporation, usually needs a tutor who lives nearby.
Bhuli: a planned township laid out in 1951 in five blocks, A to E, spread over parts of Wards 14, 15 and 16. Put the block letter and quarter number first; they lead straight to the door. A tutor from the same block or the next one makes a regular weekly plan much easier.
Nawadih: a growing residential area beside Bhuli Hirak Road and Jharudih, where new apartment buildings stand among older houses. Lanes are still filling in, so send a map pin with the building, floor and the nearest turning from Hirak Road.
Jharudih: mostly residential, next to Nawadih and near Bhuli, with houses making up much of the area. Give the house number, the lane and a shop or neighbour everyone knows. Late afternoons are usually calm here, which suits younger children.
Katras (Katrasgarh): Ward 1 of the corporation and the trading centre for the area around Sijua. Give the mohalla or colony, the lane and a landmark near Katras Bazar. We look for a tutor in Katras first, and some families here prefer an afternoon slot so the tutor travels in daylight.
Jharia & Sindri
The southern side of the city. Jharia and Sindri were separate notified areas until 2006, and each still works almost like a small town of its own, so a tutor who lives locally is usually the practical choice.
Jharia: one of the oldest towns of the area, now spread over parts of Wards 36, 37 and 38. Describe your current mohalla, the lane and something easy to spot. Students who study through Hindi gain from a tutor who explains in both Hindi and English.
Jealgora: Ward 44, with Jharia to its north. Colony quarters can look alike to a newcomer, so give the colony name, quarter number and a landmark, and offer to meet the tutor at a known corner for the first class.
Sindri: an industrial township beside the Damodar river, inside the municipal limits. Give the area name, quarter or house number and one landmark. We search within Sindri first, then nearby, and add online tutors for narrow subjects.
Boards, classes and timing across Dhanbad
Dhanbad students follow three main boards. The Jharkhand Academic Council (JAC), based in Ranchi, conducts the Secondary (Class 10) and Intermediate (Class 12) examinations and prescribes their courses; its site, jac.jharkhand.gov.in, is the source for notices and model question papers. CBSE and the CISCE's ICSE and ISC are the other two, and a few students need IB or IGCSE help, usually online.
Each board has its own page, with tutors who teach it: JAC (Jharkhand board) tutors in Dhanbad, CBSE home tutors in Dhanbad and ICSE and ISC home tutors in Dhanbad. By subject, start with maths or science up to Class 10, then physics, chemistry and biology for the senior classes, and English at any stage. Students preparing for national entrance tests alongside school can look at JEE home tutors and NEET home tutors in the city.
Timing follows the school day more than the zone. Primary children usually do well an hour or so after school, once they have eaten and rested. Board-year students often want a longer weekend sitting for full papers. Before half-yearly and annual exams, agree early whether classes are added, moved or turned into revision.
Home, online or both
Younger children tend to settle faster with a teacher in the room, and so do older students who drift when left alone with a screen. Online lessons earn their place when the right specialist lives on the far side of Dhanbad, when the only free hour is late, or when the subject is narrow, such as ISC computer science. An online tutor for Dhanbad students can be added to a home plan in any term. Before you agree a rate, our post on home tuition fees in Dhanbad explains what a quote should cover, and home tutor or online tutor weighs the two formats. Families elsewhere in Jharkhand can start from home tutors in Ranchi or home tutors in Jamshedpur.
How NXTutors can help
Write one message with your child's class, board and subjects, plus the locality from this guide. NXTutors replies with two or three matched tutors. Those who live closest come first; after them we look across your zone, then across Dhanbad, and then at online tutors elsewhere in India when the subject calls for it. Every tutor's fee is on the shortlist before you book, your first class with each of them is a free demo, and moving to a different tutor later is free. Tutors who join go through an ID check; the Verified badge appears only after the ID check is complete. The steps are on how we check tutors.
Go to home tutors in Dhanbad to see profiles, print the checklist for the demo class, and then request a free demo class. If you teach and live in Dhanbad, open requests from local families are listed on Dhanbad tuition jobs, and joining is free.
Frequently asked questions
Which Dhanbad localities are in this guide?
Eighteen Dhanbad localities are in this guide, grouped in five zones: Hirapur & Dhaiya, Bank More & Jharia Road, Saraidhela & Koyla Nagar, Bhuli & Katras Side, and Jharia & Sindri. Every locality name above opens its own page, where you will find address tips, timing notes and the tutor profiles we can show for that part of Dhanbad.
How should we describe our address to a tutor in Dhanbad?
Start with a landmark the whole city knows, such as Dhanbad Junction, Bank More, Luby Circular Road, Dhansar Chowk or Koyla Bhawan. Then add the colony, block or quarter number and the house or flat. In newer lanes of Nawadih or busy pockets near Bank More, a map pin on WhatsApp saves the tutor a search.
Can NXTutors find a JAC tutor for my child in Dhanbad?
Yes, NXTutors can find a JAC tutor in Dhanbad once you tell us the class and the language your child writes exams in, Hindi or English. The shortlist starts with Jharkhand board tutors who live nearest. If nobody close by fits, we add online tutors who teach the JAC syllabus, so lessons still follow your child's own textbooks.
What if no home tutor lives near us in Katras, Jharia or Sindri?
NXTutors widens the search step by step when no home tutor lives near you in Katras, Jharia or Sindri. We move from nearby localities to your zone, then the rest of Dhanbad, then online tutors across India. Plenty of families keep one local tutor for a core subject and take a second subject online, with a free demo each time.
What time of day suits home tuition in Dhanbad?
The time that suits home tuition in Dhanbad depends more on the school day than on the zone. Primary children often do well an hour after school, board-year students may want a longer weekend sitting, and families near Bank More should avoid the busiest shopping hours. Online classes cover late slots when weekday evenings are full.
Are the tutors NXTutors suggests in Dhanbad checked?
Every tutor who joins NXTutors, in Dhanbad or anywhere else, goes through an ID check, and the Verified badge is shown only once our team has reviewed that ID. Each request brings you two or three matched tutors with their fees visible before the demo. Your first class with each one is free, and changing tutor later costs nothing.
