Tutors who join go through an ID check. Tell us the class, board and your area: we share two or three matched tutors, each with their fee, and the first class is a free demo, at home or online.
Book a free demo classAcross NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Tutors set their own fee, and you see each tutor's fee before the demo class.
Monthly example: 3 one-hour classes a week ≈ ₹9,600–₹32,500 a month (12–13 classes at ₹800–₹2,500 an hour). An example, not a quote: your tutor's own fee decides the real figure.

In Vadodara, two children in the same class can be preparing for quite different maths papers. One writes the Gujarat board's SSC in Gujarati, another sits CBSE Standard maths, a third is in an ICSE, IB or IGCSE school. Each examiner rewards a different kind of working, so a tutor who suits one family can be a poor fit for the next. The city also splits neatly around Vadodara Junction, with the old city and Raopura on one side and Alkapuri on the other, and the northern and eastern suburbs beyond. Tell NXTutors the syllabus, the class and your locality, and we propose two or three maths tutors who match all three. Every fee is on screen before you meet anyone, and the first lesson is a free demo.
Two named authors stand behind the exam sections of this page. Abhinandan Tiwary writes on Class 10 maths for CBSE and ICSE; Ajay Vatsyayan writes on ISC, IB and IGCSE maths. Their advice starts from the same point: settle the examining body before you compare tutors, because it fixes the book, the layout of a good answer and the practice material that actually earns marks.
In practice, Vadodara families bring us five kinds of maths course: the Gujarat board's SSC and HSC, CBSE at Class 10 (Standard or Basic) and Class 12, CISCE's ICSE and ISC, the IB Diploma, and Cambridge IGCSE. The sections below take them in that order.
The Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board, usually called GSEB, is based in Gandhinagar. It runs the SSC examination at the end of Standard 10 and the HSC examinations at the end of Standard 12, where students take either the Science or the General stream. It also conducts GUJCET, the state's entrance test. We do not print a GSEB maths pattern here, since the board publishes and revises its own question-paper designs; families should read the current version on the board's sites. What a good tutor for a Gujarat board student should already use is the material the board itself puts online:
Two more points are worth settling early. First, the medium: a child answering in Gujarati needs Gujarati terms and explanations, while an English-medium GSEB student needs the textbook's English vocabulary. Second, the stream: a Standard 10 student who may choose HSC Science, or who has an eye on JEE or GUJCET, needs algebra and geometry made secure now, not just enough to pass. Take every GUJCET rule only from the board's official notices. Our Gujarat Board tutor page for Vadodara covers SSC and HSC across subjects.
The tutor you want at eleven is not the tutor you want at seventeen. This table sets out the shift, whatever the board.
| Stage | The tutor's real task | A sign it is working |
|---|---|---|
| Classes 5 to 7 | Number sense, fractions and the habit of writing each step on its own line | Your child can explain a sum aloud, not just get it right |
| Class 8 | Algebra as a language: letters, brackets and simple equations | Fewer sign errors in homework from one month to the next |
| Standard 9 or Class 9 | Proof in geometry and a first serious look at polynomials | Reasons appear beside geometry statements without prompting |
| Standard 10 or Class 10 | Board-paper practice, timed sections and the board's own model papers | Marks on school tests become predictable |
| Classes 11 and 12 | Functions, calculus and, for many, entrance problems alongside the board paper | Long answers are finished in full, not abandoned halfway |
CBSE keeps the design of last session's paper. The 80 board marks are spread over 14 NCERT chapters in seven units, and the paper itself is laid out in five sections. A tutor who knows both maps can tell a student where an hour of practice pays most.
| Section | Questions and marks | How to practise |
|---|---|---|
| A | 20 questions of one mark: 18 multiple-choice, 2 assertion–reason | Short daily sets; read every option before choosing |
| B | 5 questions of two marks | Two clean lines of working, never a bare answer |
| C | 6 questions of three marks | Proofs and word problems with each step justified |
| D | 4 questions of five marks | Full-length answers under a clock, checked against a marking scheme |
| E | 3 case studies of four marks | Read the situation first, then pull out the numbers |
By unit, algebra leads with 20 marks, geometry follows with 15, trigonometry has 12, statistics and probability 11 and mensuration 10, while real numbers and coordinate geometry carry 6 each. Calculators are not allowed, and π is taken as 22/7 unless a question says otherwise. Standard and Basic cover the same chapters but differ in demand: about 54% of Standard marks sit on remembering and understanding, against about 75% for Basic. If maths in Class 11 is possible, Standard is the safer choice; check your school's registration deadline.
Since 2026, every Class 10 student sits one compulsory main exam, and those eligible may take an optional second exam to improve their result in up to three subjects, maths included. Dates for 2027 have not been announced, so follow cbse.gov.in. For chapter-by-chapter help, read the Class 10 maths preparation guide and the board-year planner; our Class 10 maths tutor page explains how we match for that year.
A senior student aiming at engineering is usually juggling three things: the school board, a national entrance test and, for a Gujarat student, possibly GUJCET as well. A home tutor earns a place in that week by doing what the rest of the timetable leaves undone, not by teaching every chapter a second time.
A workable rhythm for many students is one session on entrance problems left unsolved during the week and one on board-style writing that ends with a full long answer. See the Class 12 calculus and algebra guide, the topic-wise JEE maths plan and our Class 12 maths tutor page.
| Course | How it is assessed | Confirm with the tutor |
|---|---|---|
| ICSE Class 10 | A written paper of 80 marks and 20 from internal assessment | That they mark the working, not only the answer |
| ISC Class 12, 2027 and 2028 | One 80-mark paper of seven units with no choice between Sections B and C; calculus 35 marks; two projects for 20, each out of 10 as format 1, content 4, findings 2, viva 3 | That their notes follow the new single-paper layout |
| IB Analysis and Approaches | Algebra, functions, calculus and proof, with one paper taken without a calculator | SL or HL, and how they support the exploration without writing it |
| IB Applications and Interpretation | Modelling and statistics, with a graphic display calculator in every paper | Fluency with the calculator the school uses |
| Cambridge IGCSE | Core, capped at grade C, or Extended, graded A* to G | Which tier your child is entered for, settled with the school early |
In the IB, SL is two papers worth 40% each; HL is two at 30% and a third at 20%; the exploration makes up the remaining 20% at both levels and must be the student's own work. Further reading: the ICSE Class 10 maths guide, the ICSE and ISC maths guide, the IB maths AA or AI guide and, for a family weighing a change, switching from CBSE to IB or IGCSE. Specialists for these courses are fewer than for CBSE or GSEB, so name the course in your first message; an online specialist can take that part if nobody nearby is free.
Most tutors in Vadodara get about by two-wheeler or auto, and city buses run from the Central Bus Stand in Sayajigunj. The practical question is whether a tutor's usual route crosses the railway line or the busier main roads at your lesson hour. All localities are listed on our Vadodara page.
Alkapuri lies beyond the platform 6 exit, mostly apartment buildings with some builder floors, houses and villas among offices and showrooms. Its commercial streets stay busy into the evening, so fix the slot once and tell the gate the tutor's name. Across the tracks in the old city, Raopura is a shopping district of apartment buildings; give the clock tower or Kothi Kacheri as the first landmark, share a map pin, and consider an earlier or weekend slot when the market streets are crowded.
Fatehgunj, next to Sayajigunj, has flats and independent houses and many students living nearby; if a tutor is still studying, ask about board-year experience and judge the demo closely. Sama, with New Sama and the Sama-Savli Road stretch, is a broad belt of apartment complexes, villas and houses. Register the tutor at the security desk with tower and flat number, and if you live far along the main road, an earlier evening slot is usually easier.
Karelibaug was among the first neighbourhoods built outside the old city and is well served by VIP Road and Harni Road; older houses give doorstep access, while New Karelibaug's complexes register visitors. Harni, home to Vadodara Airport, mixes gated flats with standalone houses. Harni Road is the main way in, so a tutor already based around Karelibaug or Ajwa Road tends to keep a weekday slot most reliably.
The Central Vadodara, North Vadodara and East Vadodara zone pages add landmarks and timing tips, and our Vadodara home tuition guide compares every part of the city.
Bring three things: the latest marked test, the school notebook for the current chapter, and the list of chapters left before the next exam. A capable tutor will look at all three before teaching anything. Then watch for these signs:
If the match is wrong, tell us and we set up a demo with another tutor from your shortlist; switching tutor later is free as well. The demo class checklist for parents has more questions to ask.
Sitting at the same desk, a tutor spots a wrong sign the moment it is written, which matters most for younger children and for geometry proofs. Online lessons make sense when the right IB, ISC or HSC Science specialist lives across the city, or when a coaching day finishes late. One home visit and one online session each week is a workable split. Our article on choosing a home tutor or an online tutor sets out the trade-offs.
Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Each tutor sets their own fee. The syllabus and class, the tutor's experience with that paper, the journey to your locality at your chosen hour and how many lessons you book each week all shape it. Ask each shortlisted tutor what is included, such as marked homework or test analysis. You see every fee before the demo, and the Vadodara home tuition fees article explains more.
Five details help most: the class; the syllabus by its full name (GSEB SSC or HSC with the medium, CBSE Standard or Basic, ICSE, ISC, IB or IGCSE); your locality with a nearby landmark; the days and times you can offer; and a budget. We reply with two or three matched maths tutors and their fees, and you choose one for a free demo. Tutors who join go through an ID check; the Verified badge appears only after our team has reviewed the ID (see how we check tutors). If nobody suitable can reach your part of Vadodara at that hour, we suggest an online or mixed plan. NXTutors works from Sector 66, Gurugram, and teaches online across India; the national maths home tutor page explains how we work everywhere else.
Maths teachers who live in Vadodara and want students close to home can see open requests on the Vadodara tuition jobs page.
Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Each Vadodara maths tutor names their own rate, shaped by syllabus, class, journey and lessons per week, and every fee is shown before the free demo.
A Vadodara maths tutor for GSEB should already use the board's question bank, past SSC and HSC papers, and model papers with the pariroop. Teaching should follow the state textbook in your child's medium, Gujarati or English. GSEB revises its paper design, so ask the tutor to show the current pariroop at the demo.
Maths home tutors in Vadodara are matched across the city: the centre around the Junction, Fatehgunj to Sama and Gorwa, and Harni, Ajwa and Waghodia roads. The western suburbs from Gotri to Bhayli and the south from Manjalpur to Tarsali are covered too. Where nobody suitable can travel, we suggest online lessons.
For Vadodara students, algebra carries the most CBSE Class 10 maths marks, 20 of the 80 board marks. Geometry has 15, trigonometry 12, statistics and probability 11 and mensuration 10, while real numbers and coordinate geometry carry 6 each. The 2026-27 paper keeps last session's design, so current sample papers suit timed practice.
A Vadodara CBSE Class 10 student should register for Standard maths if maths in Class 11 is at all possible. Both cover the same 14 chapters for 80 marks, but about 75% of Basic marks sit on remembering and understanding, against about 54% for Standard. Schools fix the choice at registration, so check the deadline.
A Vadodara maths tutor fits around JEE coaching by clearing problems left unsolved during the week, not re-teaching chapters. A second session should end with a full board-style long answer, since the CBSE Class 12 paper puts 35 of 80 marks on calculus. GSEB students should take GUJCET rules only from official notices.
A Vadodara ISC Class 12 student should be careful because, from 2027, maths is one 80-mark paper of seven units with no choice between Sections B and C. Vectors, three-dimensional geometry, linear programming and probability are therefore compulsory. Calculus carries 35 marks, and two projects add 20.
For a Vadodara child, maths tuition shifts from number sense and step-by-step writing in Classes 5 to 7 to algebra as a language in Class 8. Class 9 brings geometry proof and polynomials, and Class 10 board-paper practice. Classes 11 and 12 add functions, calculus and often entrance problems alongside the board.
Before a maths tutor's first visit to an Alkapuri or Sama flat, give security the tutor's name, tower and flat number. Also say where a two-wheeler can be parked. Commercial streets in Alkapuri and the main Sama-Savli Road get busy in the evening, so fix one regular slot at the start.
Yes, online maths works for a Vadodara student when the right IB, ISC or HSC Science specialist lives across the city, or coaching ends late. A tutor at the same desk spots a wrong sign instantly, which matters most for younger children and geometry proofs. One home visit plus one online session weekly is a workable split.
A Vadodara family should send the class, the full syllabus name with medium, locality with a landmark, times and a budget. We reply with two or three matched maths tutors, each fee shown before the first class. The first class is a free demo, so bring the latest marked test; switching tutor later is free.
Tell us the class, board and your area. We share two or three matched tutors, and the first class is a free demo.
