What home tuition costs in Varanasi

Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Tutors set their own fee, and you see each tutor's fee before the demo class.

Monthly example: 3 one-hour classes a week ≈ ₹9,600–₹32,500 a month (12–13 classes at ₹800–₹2,500 an hour). An example, not a quote: your tutor's own fee decides the real figure.

Physics home tutor in Varanasi: one syllabus, a board paper and an entrance test pulling in different directions

Senior physics in Varanasi is rarely about one exam. A Class 12 student may write the UP Board Intermediate paper in Hindi, or a CBSE or ISC paper in English, while also working towards JEE Main or NEET. The board wants derivations, ray diagrams and complete written steps; the entrance test wants the correct option quickly and takes a mark away for a wrong guess. A home tutor is useful when they know which of those goals matters this month and teach to it. NXTutors puts forward two or three physics tutors who fit your child's board, target exam and part of the city. Their fees are shown before you meet anyone, and the opening class is a free demo.

Board paper, JEE or NEET: what is each one asking of a physics student?

Physics in the three exams a Varanasi senior student most often prepares for, and what each means for home lessons
GoalHow physics is testedWhat home lessons should drill
UP Board or CBSE Class 12A 70-mark written paper beside 30 practical marksDerivations, labelled diagrams and numericals with every step and unit
JEE Main (2026 Paper 1)25 physics questions, 5 of them needing a numerical answer; four marks for a correct answer and one deducted for a wrong oneMulti-step problems against the clock, then a calm review of each error
NEET (UG) 202645 of the 180 questions and 180 of the 720 marks, on pen and paper, with the same plus-four, minus-one ruleNCERT-level accuracy and the discipline to leave a question rather than guess blindly

JEE Advanced in 2026 admitted only the first 2,50,000 scorers from JEE Main, and an organising institute sets it afresh each year; it is where problems that mix several chapters live. NTA fixes each entrance syllabus on its own, independent of the school boards, and a topic a board has dropped may still be examined, so look at the latest bulletin on nta.ac.in before ticking a chapter off.

How is UP Board Intermediate physics marked in Class 12?

The UP Board (Madhyamik Shiksha Parishad, Uttar Pradesh), which has had a regional office in Varanasi since 1978, examines Class 12 physics through a written paper of 70 marks, with practical work worth 30; a pass needs 23 in the first and 10 in the second. The 2026-27 syllabus splits the written marks into two halves of 35:

  • Part A, electricity and magnetism: electrostatics 8; magnetic effect of current and magnetism 8; electromagnetic induction and alternating current 8; current electricity 7; electromagnetic waves 4.
  • Part B, light and modern physics: optics 13; atoms and nuclei 8; electronic devices 8; dual nature of radiation and matter 6.

The board's model paper is set in Hindi, lasts three hours after a reading period, and is laid out in five sections. Optics is worth 13 marks, more than any other unit, which means ruled ray diagrams, an arrow on every ray and the sign convention written out should be second nature by the half-year. Part A rewards a student who can move from a field picture to a circuit rule to the right formula without blending them. A child who writes English answers while practising from a model paper printed in Hindi needs a tutor at home in both. The UP Board tutors in Varanasi page covers the board's other subjects.

Why start with Class 11?

Almost every Class 12 chapter borrows tools from Class 11: vectors, graphs, rates of change and the free-body diagram. In Class 11 the UP Board again sets 70 written marks with 30 practical. Part A is mechanics, where gravitation, the laws of motion, rigid bodies and systems of particles, and work, energy and power take 7 marks each, kinematics 6, and the physical world and measurement 1. Part B covers bulk matter 10, oscillations and waves 10, thermodynamics 9, and ideal gases with kinetic theory 6.

Mechanics is where confidence often cracks first, and it is also the opening chapter of JEE and NEET physics. A tutor brought in at the start of Class 11 usually has an easier job than one hired to rescue mechanics in the board year. See the Class 11 physics tutor page and our guide to choosing a Class 11 stream.

What does the CBSE Class 12 physics paper look like this session?

Marks
70 in theory and 30 for practicals. The 2026-27 design is unchanged from last session.
Content blocks
Fourteen NCERT chapters fall into four groups. Electricity and magnetism is the heaviest at 33; optics together with electromagnetic waves brings 18; modern physics 12; semiconductor electronics 7, now without transistors or logic gates.
Questions
Thirty-three, all compulsory. Section A has sixteen one-mark items, twelve multiple-choice and four assertion–reason; after that, five questions of two marks, seven of three, a pair of case studies at four marks each, and three long answers at five.
Conditions
Physical constants are printed on the paper; calculators are not allowed. Around 38% of the marks check recall. Watch cbse.gov.in for the 2027 dates.

Our Class 12 physics strategies gather the derivations that come up again and again, and the Class 12 physics tutor page shows a board year in outline.

How should a home tutor work beside entrance coaching?

Many senior students already spend evenings at a coaching batch. A home tutor who simply repeats that lecture wastes the hour. The better split is for the batch to introduce new chapters and the tutor to clear the problems left unsolved from the batch sheet, then keep the board paper alive with one long written answer a week. The JEE physics topic-wise plan ranks chapters by return, and our JEE and NEET home tutor pages for Varanasi explain entrance matching. For a fuller comparison of the two routes, read coaching or a home tutor for JEE.

How much of the 30 practical marks can be prepared at home?

The UP Board and CBSE both reserve 30 marks in Class 12 for practical work. CBSE's split is set out below, and its record needs a minimum of eight experiments and six activities, drawn from both sections, together with the project report.

CBSE Class 12 physics practical marks and the part a home tutor can help with
ComponentMarksHelp at home
Two experiments, one from each section14 (7 each)Circuit and ray diagrams, observation tables and the graph each experiment ends in
Practical record5Each entry checked for aim, diagram, readings and result
Viva5A mock viva: why readings are repeated, what a slope means, the main source of error
Activity3Rehearsing the steps and the explanation
Investigatory project3Choosing a project the student can complete and explain

UP Board students should take their own practical scheme from upmsp.edu.in; the habits above carry over.

What should a physics answer look like, and how does a doubts notebook help?

Examiners on every board give credit for the same order of work, and it should become automatic: start with a sketch showing directions, charges or rays; state the law being used, such as conservation of momentum or Kirchhoff's junction rule; write the equation before putting numbers in, keeping units throughout; and end by asking whether the sign and size of the answer make sense.

One shared notebook keeps this honest. Each page holds the original question, the student's first attempt left as it was, a single line naming the slip, and a fresh solution attempted a few days later from memory. Before a test, the notebook is the revision list.

Evening physics in six Varanasi localities

Class 11 and 12 students get back from school and coaching later, so physics tends to land in the evening, when the central and southern roads are at their busiest. A tutor whose route stays off the worst stretch is the one who keeps the slot. Compare tutors by locality on our Varanasi page.

Lohamandi
Dense housing behind the iron and hardware market, with the main bus stand close by. Daytime market traffic is heavy and evenings are often easier; tell the tutor which entrance to use for a flat above a shop.
Rathyatra
A crossing where several main roads meet, simple to describe to a tutor coming from Sigra, Bhelupur or Lanka. Set the lesson just before or after the evening jam at the crossing.
Shivpurwa
Mostly self-built homes on plots, so the tutor usually comes straight to the door; share the house number and lane. Traffic towards Sigra and the railway stations builds in the evening.
Lanka
Beside a large campus, with many students and teachers living nearby, so a physics tutor close at hand is often easy to find. The gate road is crowded at peak times; morning or weekend lessons avoid it.
Nagwa
Near the southern riverside, close to Lanka. Tutors from Lanka or Durgakund can come without crossing the centre; register them at the gate of an apartment block.
Sunderpur
A calmer colony of independent houses where lanes can look alike, so give the nearest well-known turning. If the tutor comes from the Lanka side, a slightly earlier or later slot keeps the start time steady.

When coaching overruns, switching that evening's lesson to online with the same tutor spares everyone a late journey. Our home or online tutor article compares the two.

ISC, IB and IGCSE physics

ISC. Alongside the theory paper, CISCE assesses practical work and a project, and it expects explanations that go past a single line; confirm the tutor teaches the syllabus for your child's exam year. IB Diploma. The guide first examined in May 2025 is organised in five themes labelled by letter, with no option topics and no Paper 3. Exam papers count for 80% and the student's own investigation for the remaining 20%; SL is taught over 150 hours and HL over 240. Our IB physics SL and HL guide goes further. Cambridge IGCSE. Core or Extended tier. Joining an Indian board in Class 11 after IGCSE usually means spending extra weeks on vectors and graphs.

Varanasi has fewer tutors for these courses than for the boards, so mention the course in your first message. Where nobody suitable lives nearby, an online specialist fills the gap.

Questions worth asking at the free physics demo

  • "Which board and which entrance test have your recent students taken?"
  • "Look at my child's last test paper. What would you work on first, and why?"
  • "How will the board paper stay on track alongside coaching?"
  • "What do the next three lessons cover, and what homework will you set?"

If the answers do not convince you, another tutor from your shortlist gives the next demo, and switching later costs nothing. For more ideas, use the demo class checklist for parents.

What does a physics home tutor in Varanasi charge?

Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Every tutor sets an individual rate. It tends to rise with the target, from a board paper to JEE Main, NEET or JEE Advanced, and with how long the tutor has taught that target; your locality, the evening hour and how often you meet matter too. All fees are shown before the demo, and our Varanasi home tuition fees article suggests questions to ask.

Physics Home Tutor in Varanasi: common questions

What hourly fee do physics home tutors in Varanasi set?

Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. A physics tutor's rate tends to rise with the target, from a board paper to JEE Main, NEET or JEE Advanced, and every fee is visible before the demo.

Which details help NXTutors shortlist a senior physics tutor who can reach a Varanasi home?

To request a physics home tutor in Varanasi, list the class, board, answer language, target exam, coaching days, locality and free evenings. We send two or three matched tutors, each fee shown before the first class. The first class is a free demo, switching tutor later is free, and online lessons are offered if nobody can reach you.

Which unit is worth the most in UP Board Class 12 physics for Varanasi students?

Optics is worth the most in UP Board Class 12 physics for Varanasi students, with 13 of the 70 written marks in 2026-27. The paper splits into two halves of 35: electricity and magnetism in Part A, light and modern physics in Part B. Practical work adds 30, and a pass needs 23 written and 10 practical.

Is Class 11 the right moment to start physics tuition in Varanasi?

Class 11 is often the easiest moment to start physics tuition in Varanasi, because Class 12 chapters lean on its vectors, graphs and free-body diagrams. Mechanics also opens JEE and NEET physics. On the UP Board, Class 11 is again a 70-mark written paper with 30 practical marks, with mechanics filling Part A.

What is new in the CBSE Class 12 physics paper for Varanasi students this session?

For Varanasi students, CBSE Class 12 physics in 2026-27 keeps last session's layout, and transistors and logic gates have left the syllabus. The paper has 33 compulsory questions for 70 marks, with constants printed and no calculators. Electricity and magnetism is the largest block at 33 marks, then optics with electromagnetic waves at 18.

How should a Varanasi home physics tutor work alongside a JEE batch?

A Varanasi home physics tutor should do what the JEE batch does not, rather than repeat its lecture. Let coaching introduce new chapters while the tutor clears unsolved sheet problems, reviews mock-test errors and keeps one long board answer a week. Keep the home slot off batch days so the two never collide.

How much of NEET comes from physics for a Varanasi aspirant?

Physics gave a Varanasi NEET aspirant 45 of the 180 questions and 180 of the 720 marks in NEET (UG) 2026, on pen and paper. Each correct answer earned four marks and each wrong one cost a mark. NTA publishes the pattern afresh each year, so read the latest bulletin before planning revision.

Can a physics tutor manage evening lessons in Lanka or Nagwa, Varanasi?

A physics tutor can often manage evening lessons in Lanka or Nagwa in Varanasi, since many teachers and students live around Lanka. The campus-gate road is crowded at peak hours, so morning or weekend lessons tend to start on time. In an apartment block, register the tutor at the gate first.

What part of the Class 12 physics practical can be rehearsed at a Varanasi home with a tutor?

A Varanasi home tutor can prepare the paperwork and talk behind the 30 Class 12 physics practical marks, though the lab stays at school. That means circuit and ray diagrams, observation tables and graphs, a record checked for aim, readings and result, and a mock viva. UP Board students should take their own practical scheme from upmsp.edu.in.

Are IB, ISC or IGCSE physics specialists available for Varanasi students?

IB, ISC and IGCSE physics specialists are fewer in Varanasi than board tutors, so name the course and exam session in your first message. When nobody suitable can travel to your home, an online specialist is the usual answer, sometimes paired with a local tutor for written practice.

When should a Varanasi physics lesson move online instead of happening at home?

A Varanasi physics lesson should move online with the same tutor when coaching overruns or evening roads make the trip late, rather than being cancelled. Home lessons stay most useful for setting up problems and writing derivations, where a tutor at the table sees each line. Specialist courses often go online from the start.
