Chemistry home tutor in Varanasi: find the branch that is leaking marks, then fix it the way the paper scores it

Ask a Class 12 student in Varanasi which part of chemistry is hard and the answer is rarely "all of it". It is usually one branch: the numericals of physical chemistry, the chains of organic reactions, or the trends and exact wording of inorganic chemistry. The same student may be writing a UP Board Intermediate paper in Hindi, a CBSE or ISC paper in English, and preparing for NEET or JEE at the same time, and each of those exams pays for a slightly different skill. A home chemistry tutor earns their fee by finding the weak branch and practising it in the exact form the exam rewards. NXTutors suggests two or three chemistry tutors suited to your child's syllabus and your neighbourhood, lists their fees before any meeting, and the first lesson is a free demo.

Which chemistry exams sit on your child's calendar?

UP Board Intermediate
A 70-mark written chemistry paper from the UP Board (formally Madhyamik Shiksha Parishad, Uttar Pradesh), which has kept a regional office in Varanasi since 1978. Its syllabus document also describes the practical component.
CBSE Class 12 (043)
Theory for 70 marks over three hours, in 33 compulsory questions, with a further 30 for practicals.
NEET (UG)
In 2026, chemistry made up 45 of the 180 questions and 180 of the 720 marks, all on paper.
JEE Main
Paper 1 in 2026 held 25 chemistry questions among 75: twenty with options and five asking for a number.

Both NTA exams in 2026 gave four marks for a right answer and took one away for a wrong one. NTA issues the pattern again each year, so read the newest bulletin. Entrance preparation is covered by our list of high-weight NEET chemistry chapters and by the NEET home tutors in Varanasi page.

Seven questions, 70 marks: the UP Board's Class 12 chemistry layout

The 2026-27 syllabus lays out a 70-mark paper in seven questions. Question 1 is a set of six multiple-choice items worth a mark each; the remaining questions step up through parts of two marks, then three, four and five. Numerical questions must supply no fewer than 8 marks, so a student who prefers theory cannot quietly skip solutions, electrochemistry or kinetics.

Three habits matter on this paper:

  1. Number every answer as the paper does. Question and part number written above each answer saves the examiner a search and saves the student a lost mark.
  2. Formula, substitution, unit. In every numerical, all three must be on the page; a correct final number on its own earns little.
  3. One language for terms. Many UP Board students in Varanasi write chemistry in Hindi. Words such as upachayan (oxidation) and apachayan (reduction) should be practised in the medium of the answer sheet every time, since swapping languages close to the exam causes slips.

Model papers and a month-by-month syllabus are published on the board's website too. The monthly plan keeps tuition level with the classroom, and from the second term a full model paper each month, timed and marked question by question, shows where the seven-question layout is costing marks. Confirm the current scheme on upmsp.edu.in; other subjects are covered on our UP Board tutors in Varanasi page.

Which CBSE Class 12 chapters carry the most marks?

Every theory chapter has its own fixed share of marks under CBSE, and for 2026-27 the layout of the paper is unchanged from last session. Sorted by weight, with the branch each belongs to:

CBSE Class 12 chemistry 2026-27: the ten theory chapters sorted by marks, with their branch
ChapterMarksBranch
Electrochemistry9Physical
Aldehydes, Ketones and Carboxylic Acids8Organic
Solutions7Physical
Chemical Kinetics7Physical
Biomolecules7Organic
Coordination Compounds7Inorganic
d- and f-Block Elements7Inorganic
Haloalkanes and Haloarenes6Organic
Alcohols, Phenols and Ethers6Organic
Amines6Organic

Add them up and organic is worth 33, physical 23 and inorganic 14. The paper has five lettered sections, a few questions with an internal choice, and neither calculators nor log tables. About two-fifths of the marks test recall and understanding; the rest ask for application, analysis or evaluation. The Class 12 organic and inorganic chemistry guide goes chapter by chapter, and the Class 12 chemistry tutor page sets out a board year.

What has CBSE removed, and does NEET or JEE still need it?

CBSE Class 12 chemistry 2026-27: topics removed from the course and topics assessed only in school
Status this sessionTopics
Removed from Class 12The solid state; the p-block elements of Groups 15 to 18
Taught, but marked by the school onlySurface chemistry; polymers; isolation of elements; chemistry in everyday life

The board's list is not the entrance list. NTA publishes the NEET and JEE syllabuses separately, and a topic the board has let go can still turn up there. Use CBSE's list for board revision and NTA's list for entrance revision, and keep the two apart.

How should a home tutor treat each branch?

Physical chemistry loses marks on units and powers of ten more than on ideas. Two numericals a week, watched line by line with the unit checked at each step, fix most of it. Organic chemistry feels impossible when reactions are learnt one at a time. One map that links alcohols to carbonyl compounds, acids and amines, sketched again without notes every week, turns conversions into routes. Inorganic chemistry is lost on loose wording and trends memorised without reasons. Short oral quizzes straight from NCERT, with a reason demanded for every answer, tighten both.

Finish each lesson with a pair of "give reasons" answers, written in full and marked on the spot. Where a coaching batch is also running, keep home lessons on the chapter the batch is teaching now instead of racing ahead; our article on coaching or a home tutor for NEET shows how the two can share the work.

Can the CBSE practical be prepared at home?

A good part of it. The 30 practical marks divide as 8 for titration, 8 for salt analysis, 6 for an experiment based on theory, and 4 each for the project and for the record together with the viva. This session the titration uses potassium permanganate against oxalic acid or Mohr's salt, and every student weighs out and prepares the standard solution personally. At home, a tutor can rehearse:

  • the molarity calculation for the weighed sample;
  • burette readings set out neatly, with concordant values marked;
  • the logic of salt analysis, from preliminary tests to confirmatory ones;
  • a project small enough to finish and explain;
  • viva questions, such as why permanganate needs no separate indicator.

For the UP Board practical, the scheme on upmsp.edu.in is the reference.

Chemistry lessons in six Varanasi neighbourhoods

Senior lessons usually fall in the evening, when the central roads and the routes towards Lanka are slowest, so where a tutor lives matters almost as much as what they know. Browse tutors by locality on our Varanasi page.

Central Varanasi

Sigra is easy to reach from almost any direction, but its roads are congested and parking is limited, so a tutor on a two-wheeler and a fixed weekly time are the safest choice. In Shivpurwa, many families live in homes they built on their own plots, so the tutor usually comes straight to the door; give the house number and lane, and expect traffic towards Sigra in the evening. Lohamandi has flats above shops and narrow lanes behind the market, so name the exact entrance; evenings are often easier than market hours there.

South Varanasi

Bhelupur mixes independent houses and builder floors; a floor number helps in shared buildings, and the Rathyatra crossing makes a clear landmark. Durgakund is named after the pond at its centre, which doubles as the easiest meeting point; the road towards Lanka fills up in the late afternoon. Sunderpur is calmer and home to many teachers and long-term tenants, which helps when looking for a tutor close by; colony lanes look alike, so share the nearest well-known turning.

Close to the pre-boards, if a route becomes unreliable, moving one lesson a week online with the same tutor keeps revision on schedule.

What to ask for with ISC, IB or IGCSE chemistry

  • ISC: along with theory, CISCE marks practical and project work, and answers are expected to explain, not just define.
  • IB Diploma: offered at SL and HL, with the course arranged around structure and reactivity. The student alone owns the scientific investigation; a tutor can question it but must not steer it.
  • Cambridge IGCSE: Core and Extended tiers; the comparison of Cambridge and Edexcel IGCSE explains how the two boards differ.

Varanasi has fewer of these specialists than board tutors, so raise the course in your first message. If none can come to the house, pair an online specialist with a nearby tutor who checks written work.

Why is Class 11 the year to get chemistry right?

Mole calculations, equilibrium and the first organic chapters sit underneath nearly all Class 12 numericals and conversions, whoever sets the paper. Securing them in Class 11 takes less effort than repairing them while the board year is running. See the Class 11 chemistry tutor page.

What does a chemistry home tutor in Varanasi charge?

Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Tutors decide their own rates. Expect a higher figure for entrance targets and for tutors with long experience of them; your neighbourhood, an evening slot and the number of lessons each week also count. All fees are visible before the demo, and the Varanasi home tuition fees article covers what to weigh up.

How do you get matched?

Share your child's class, board and answer-sheet language, the exam that matters most, the weakest branch, coaching days if any, your neighbourhood with a landmark and the free evenings. Tutors who join go through an ID check. Two or three chemistry tutors come back to you with fees attached, and you pick one for the free demo; if the fit is poor, another demo follows, and a later change of tutor is free. Should nobody suitable be able to reach you, we offer an online or part-online plan. NXTutors is based in Sector 66, Gurugram, and teaches online across India. Chemistry Home Tutor in Varanasi: common questions

What will a chemistry home tutor in Varanasi cost?

Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Each tutor sets a personal rate, and the whole shortlist shows fees before you book a demo.

How is UP Board Class 12 chemistry set out?

For 2026-27 it is a 70-mark paper in seven questions. The first holds six one-mark multiple-choice items, and later questions carry parts of two, three, four and five marks. Numerical questions must account for at least 8 marks, so physical chemistry cannot be left out.

Which branch carries most marks in CBSE Class 12 chemistry?

Organic chemistry, with 33 of the 70 theory marks in 2026-27. Physical chemistry follows at 23 and inorganic at 14. The single heaviest chapter is electrochemistry at 9, then aldehydes, ketones and carboxylic acids at 8. No calculators or log tables are allowed in the paper.

Can my child skip topics CBSE has dropped if NEET is the goal?

Not safely. CBSE removed the solid state and the Group 15 to 18 p-block from Class 12, but NTA sets the NEET and JEE syllabuses on its own and may still include material a board has dropped. Revise each exam from its own official list.

How much of the CBSE chemistry practical can a tutor help with?

Most of the preparation. Titration and salt analysis are worth 8 each, the theory-based experiment 6, and the project and the record-plus-viva 4 apiece. A tutor can rehearse molarity working, burette tables, salt-analysis logic and likely viva questions, though the experiments themselves happen in school.

Do you have chemistry tutors who teach in Hindi?

We can look for them. Tell us whether your child writes the paper in Hindi or English, because terms such as upachayan and apachayan for oxidation and reduction should be practised in the language of the answer sheet. Mixing the two close to the exam often causes avoidable slips.

Can a tutor come to Sunderpur or Durgakund for evening lessons?

Usually, as many tutors live in the southern colonies. The road towards Lanka gets crowded from late afternoon, so agree a slot slightly before or after the peak. In Sunderpur, send the nearest well-known turning, since colony lanes look alike to someone arriving for the first time.

Is Class 11 chemistry worth a tutor?

Often it is the year that pays back most. Mole concept, equilibrium and early organic chemistry resurface in nearly all Class 12 numericals and conversions, for the UP Board, CBSE, NEET and JEE alike. Making them secure early is easier than repairing them during the board year.
