Tutors who join go through an ID check. Tell us the class, board and your area: we share two or three matched tutors, each with their fee, and the first class is a free demo, at home or online.
Book a free demo classAcross NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Tutors set their own fee, and you see each tutor's fee before the demo class.
Monthly example: 3 one-hour classes a week ≈ ₹9,600–₹32,500 a month (12–13 classes at ₹800–₹2,500 an hour). An example, not a quote: your tutor's own fee decides the real figure.

A Varanasi student aiming at JEE usually already has a full timetable: school, a batch in the afternoon or evening, homework from both, and a ride across town in between. A home tutor added to that load only earns the fee by doing something the other two cannot. This page is about agreeing that job before the first class, choosing hours that hold through a Varanasi year, finding a tutor whose route to your door is short, and handling the particular questions of UP Board, Hindi-medium and second-attempt students. Everything about the exam itself, in full, sits on the national JEE home tutor page.
The National Testing Agency conducts JEE (Main). Its 2026 bulletin set Paper 1 as a three-hour computer test of 75 questions: 25 in each of physics, chemistry and mathematics, of which 20 were multiple choice and 5 needed a numerical answer. The paper totalled 300 marks; a correct response earned four and an incorrect one cost one, in both kinds of question. There were two sessions in the year, a choice of 13 languages and no age limit. Rank in Paper 1 decides who may sit JEE (Advanced), which in 2026 meant two compulsory papers of three hours each, set in English and Hindi, with no more than two attempts in consecutive years. These details shift; confirm them each year on jeemain.nta.nic.in and jeeadv.ac.in.
Families who get good value from a JEE tutor tend to be precise about what the hour is for. A vague request, "help with physics", usually turns into the tutor re-teaching whatever the batch taught last week. Pick one or two of these and say so at the demo:
| Brief | What happens in the hour | Signs it is working |
|---|---|---|
| Backlog breaker | Unfinished sheet questions and every wrong answer from the latest batch test, solved by the student with prompts | The pile of skipped questions shrinks each week instead of growing |
| One-subject rescue | All the tutor's time on the subject pulling the total down, usually physics or mathematics | Test marks in that subject rise without the other two falling |
| Board guard | Written, step-by-step answers for the Intermediate or Class 12 paper, alongside entrance practice | Pre-board scripts lose fewer marks for missing steps and units |
| Paper coach | Full timed papers, then a question-by-question review of time spent and guesses made | Fewer negative marks; the student leaves weak questions alone |
A tutor without a batch alongside has a heavier load: the chapter order, the pace and the test calendar all have to come from the tutor, written down from the NTA syllabus in the first fortnight and checked monthly with the family.
JEE students lose more time to tiredness than to any single chapter. A pattern that many families can keep:
Our article on coaching or a home tutor for JEE uses another city's examples, but its way of dividing the work between batch, tutor and family applies here unchanged.
Traffic around Varanasi Junction is heavy at most hours, and the main bus stand lies close by near Lohamandi, so evening trips that have to pass them are the ones most likely to run late. Start with a tutor from your own side of the stations, and look further only if the subject needs it.
| Locality | Typical route | Practical note |
|---|---|---|
| Chitaipur | Two-wheeler from Sunderpur, Kailashpuri Colony or the Lanka side | Newer lanes are not widely known; send a map pin and a turning landmark |
| Brij Enclave Colony | From the Lanka side or from the Banaras station side | Two directions to draw on; give the lane and house number, as streets look alike |
| Varanasi Cantonment | Short ride for tutors living in Nadesar or near the junction station | Give the guard the tutor's name and timing; ask whether ID is needed at the gate |
| Shivpur | Along Shivpur Road, the Lucknow road or the ring road | Look first in Shivpur, Bhojuveer and Parmanandpur; earlier evening slots travel better |
| Pandeypur | Two-wheeler from Paharia, Danganj or Nadesar | Many homes are flats: share the block and floor, and the class days with the guard |
| Danganj | From Pandeypur, Paharia or Lalpur next door | Register the tutor at the building gate before the demo, and keep the slot fixed |
Zone pages give more detail: south-west Varanasi (Sunderpur–Chitaipur), north-west Varanasi (Cantonment–Shivpur) and north-east Varanasi (Pandeypur–Sarnath). The full list of localities is on the Varanasi home tutors page, and our Varanasi home tuition guide walks through every zone.
The deciding question is whether the tutor needs to watch the pen. For JEE, that splits the three subjects fairly cleanly.
| Subject | Usual format | Reason |
|---|---|---|
| Physics | Home | Students stall at the set-up: which law, which body, which direction. A tutor at the table sees the stall happen. |
| Mathematics | Home for new methods; online for reviewing timed papers | Long working on paper needs watching; reviews are quick on a shared screen |
| Chemistry | Mostly online, with home sessions if physical-chemistry numericals lag | Inorganic and much of organic is recall, checked well in short, frequent bursts |
Advanced-level problem solving is a narrow skill. If no tutor near you has it, a specialist teaching online from another part of the city, or another state, is the stronger choice. Our home tutor or online tutor article weighs it up, and the online tutors for Varanasi page explains how to set it up.
Varanasi students come to JEE from three school routes, and each leaves a different gap.
Language. Plenty of Varanasi students learn science partly in Hindi. Pick the JEE (Main) paper language early from the current bulletin's list, practise in that language from Class 11, and ask for a tutor who can give each technical term in both Hindi and English until the student settles on one. For the board side subject by subject, see our Varanasi maths, physics and chemistry pages, and the UP Board tutors in Varanasi page for the state board itself.
This is where the entrance syllabus really begins: kinematics and laws of motion, functions and limits, mole concept and atomic structure. Start an error notebook in the first month and have the tutor read it every week. A Class 11 chapter left half understood comes back to cost marks in Class 12.
Three demands overlap: new chapters, revision of Class 11, and the board paper. Put dates on all three at the start of the session. Leave a block of written board practice before the pre-boards, whichever board your child sits, and move to full papers well before the first JEE session.
Begin with last year's scorecards and mock papers, sorted by the cause of each lost mark. With school over, daytime home sessions open up, and tutors who are busy in the evenings become available. Read the current eligibility rules first; in 2026 Advanced allowed two attempts in consecutive years.
For topic order, hand the tutor our plans for JEE maths, JEE physics and JEE chemistry, and see the JEE physics tutor page for the subject in depth.
If the answers disappoint, the next matched tutor gets a demo, and changing tutor later costs nothing. Our demo class checklist for parents has more to try.
Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Each tutor sets their own fee and you see it before the demo. The pricing guide and our post on home tuition fees in Varanasi explain which questions to ask about hours, travel and test reviews.
Send the class, board, target exam, the subject in the brief, batch days and your locality with one landmark. We come back with two or three matched tutors and you book a free demo class. Tutors who join go through an ID check; the Verified badge appears only after our team has reviewed the ID, as explained on how we check tutors. You can also browse tutor profiles. For medical entrance, see the NEET home tutor in Varanasi page; teachers can find requests on Varanasi tuition jobs.
Give the tutor a narrow brief rather than general help. Common choices are clearing unfinished sheet questions and test errors each week, concentrating on the one subject pulling the total down, keeping board answers in practice, or running full timed papers with a careful review. Agree the brief at the demo.
Tutors teach across the city, from Chitaipur and Brij Enclave Colony in the south-west to the Cantonment and Shivpur in the north-west and Pandeypur, Danganj and Sarnath in the north-east. Evening trips past Varanasi Junction run slow, so we look for tutors on your side of the stations first.
Yes. The tutor keeps the prescribed books and board papers covered for school, maps every chapter against the NTA syllabus, and adds the speed and objective practice the board paper does not test. Take board formats and notices only from upmsp.edu.in, and entrance rules only from the current NTA bulletin.
The 2026 JEE Main bulletin offered 13 languages, and the 2026 JEE Advanced brochure offered English and Hindi. Check the current documents, choose the paper language early and practise in it from Class 11. A tutor who gives technical terms in both languages helps until your child settles on one.
Physics usually suits home lessons, because students stall while setting up a problem and the tutor needs to see that happen. Mathematics suits home for new methods and online for paper reviews. Chemistry recall works well online in short sessions. A specialist online often beats the nearest available tutor for Advanced problems.
Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Each tutor sets their own fee, which you see before the demo, so ask what each session includes.
It can be, once the year has a plan. Start from last year's scorecards and mocks, sorted by why each mark was lost. Without school, daytime sessions open up and more tutors become free. Read the current eligibility rules first; in 2026 JEE Advanced allowed two attempts in consecutive years.
