Science home tutor in Nashik, Classes 6 to 10: activity sheets, labelled diagrams and a slot that fits after school

Between Class 6 and Class 10, science stops being a set of observations and becomes physics, chemistry and biology, each with its own numericals, equations and diagrams. Nashik children meet that change through different books and papers. On the Maharashtra State Board, Science and Technology ends in two separate SSC papers written as activity sheets; on CBSE it is one board paper built on NCERT; on ICSE it becomes three papers. A tutor has to know which of these your child is heading for, teach from the book already on the desk, and reach your home at the same hour each week. NXTutors shortlists two or three science tutors who fit, shows every fee in advance, and makes the first class a free demo.

What should a science tutor be doing in each class?

Aaditya Kashyap writes the CBSE and ICSE guidance in this guide. The tutor's role changes as a child moves up the school, and parents can check progress with one simple question at each stage.

Science tuition in Nashik from Class 6 to Class 10: the tutor's focus and a parent's check
StageWhere the tutor's effort goesA parent's check
Classes 6 and 7Turning each activity in the textbook, whether NCERT's Curiosity, the state book or the school's own, into a clear sentence and a neat sketchCan your child explain the activity without reading from the page?
Class 8Separating the three sciences and starting simple numericals and word equationsDoes every number carry its unit?
Class 9A heavier book: motion, matter and the cell arrive in the same term, and on the State Board the two-part scheme beginsIs each gap fixed before the next chapter starts?
Class 10Practising in the exact format of the board paper your child will writeHas your child finished a full timed paper at home?

Up to Class 10, one tutor for all three sciences usually works well, because one person can see whether a wrong physics answer comes from the idea or from weak arithmetic. Our national science home tutor page explains the approach, and the Class 6 science tutor page covers the early years.

How does SSC Science and Technology differ from other boards?

On the Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education, science in Standards IX and X is called Science and Technology (subject code 72). The board's scheme examines it as two papers of 40 marks each, sat on different days and answered as activity sheets, with a further 20 marks for experiments, a journal and projects assessed in school. An activity sheet asks a student to complete tables, explain observations, draw and label, and reason from a given situation, not only to recall definitions.

That shapes what a State Board science tutor should do:

  • Practise the format, not just the content. Each week, a few activity-style questions answered in full: complete the table, give the reason, draw the labelled figure.
  • Keep the two papers in balance. Because they are separate papers, a strong showing in one cannot rescue the other. Track both parts on the same weekly chart.
  • Treat the journal as marks. Experiments, the journal and projects make up the internal 20, so a tutor should look at the journal regularly, not only before submission.
  • Teach in the child's medium. The board recognises Marathi-medium and English-medium schools. Explanations and technical terms should match the language of the textbook and of your child's answers.

Formats and dates come from the board, so check mahahsscboard.in before you plan the year. For all State Board subjects, see the Maharashtra Board tutor in Nashik page.

How is the CBSE Class 10 science paper built?

The board paper is worth 80 marks, and the school adds 20, divided equally between periodic tests, multiple assessment, the portfolio and practical-based subject enrichment. By subject, biology carries 30 of the 80, while chemistry and physics carry 25 each. By unit, the 2026-27 weights look like this:

CBSE Class 10 science units, 2026-27: board marks and the habit a Nashik tutor should build for each
UnitMarksHabit to build
Chemical Substances: equations, acids, bases and salts, metals and non-metals, carbon compounds25Balancing and naming practised every week
World of Living: life processes, control and coordination, reproduction, heredity25Diagrams drawn from memory and labelled in full
Effects of Current13Circuit numericals with a unit on every line
Natural Phenomena: light and the eye12Ray diagrams with arrows on every ray
Our Environment5Quick revision so these marks are not left behind

The 2026-27 sample paper has 39 questions: twenty of one mark, some multiple-choice and some assertion–reason; six short answers of two marks; seven of three marks; three four-mark questions built on a case or a source; and three long answers of five marks. Half the paper tests knowledge and understanding, 30% application and 20% analysis and evaluation. The CBSE Class 10 science notes go chapter by chapter, and the Class 10 science tutor page maps out a board year.

Which CBSE topics are marked by the school, and how many exams are there?

For 2026-27, three areas stay out of the board paper and are assessed only in school: the electric motor, electromagnetic induction and the generator; evolution; and the arrangement of elements in the periodic table. They still count towards internal marks and return in Class 11, so they deserve proper teaching, just not board revision weeks. The curriculum also lists 14 experiments, and board questions draw on them, so the practical file belongs in revision too.

Every Class 10 student sits a compulsory main exam, and eligible students may take an optional second sitting to improve up to three subjects, science among them. Dates for 2027 are for CBSE to announce on cbse.gov.in, so prepare as though the main exam is the only chance. The board-year planner lays out the months.

What changed in CBSE Class 9 science?

CBSE now follows NCERT's new Class 9 book, Exploration. The annual exam is still 80 marks with 20 internal, shared across four units: matter, its nature and behaviour, at 27; the world of living at 25; motion, force, work and sound at 23; and Earth as a system at 5. Notes handed down from an older sibling follow the earlier book, so the tutor should plan from the new chapters. Our Class 9 science tutor page has more.

What does ICSE science need from a tutor?

At ICSE Class 10, CISCE examines Physics, Chemistry and Biology as three separate papers, each with its own internal assessment, and schools choose their textbooks within the CISCE syllabus. A tutor therefore works from the books your child has and from CISCE specimen papers, not from an NCERT plan. ICSE marks are won with precise definitions and numericals completed to the last line. Some families want help in just one of the three, usually from Class 9. Teachers who know ICSE science well are fewer, so ask early; an online tutor widens the choice.

How does your locality shape an after-school science slot in Nashik?

A Class 6 to 10 lesson usually falls between school and dinner, so a short, predictable trip for the tutor matters more than anything. Six localities show what to arrange; browse tutors by area on the Nashik page.

The zone guide for Panchavati, Mhasrul and Adgaon adds tips for the newer colonies on the city's northern and eastern edges.

Which science skills should become automatic before Class 10?

Careful children gain marks on diagrams, equations and stepwise reasoning, and hurried ones lose them there, whatever the board. A tutor should return to these until they need no thought:

  1. Ray diagrams for mirrors and lenses, arrows on every ray and virtual rays dotted.
  2. Circuits drawn with standard symbols, ammeter in series and voltmeter in parallel.
  3. Biology figures such as the heart, the digestive system and the nephron, labelled and spelled correctly.
  4. Chemical equations balanced, with state symbols where the question wants them.
  5. Observation tables completed with units and a one-line conclusion, which the State Board activity sheets reward directly.

At the free demo, ask the tutor to teach your child's current chapter and notice whether these habits appear without prompting. The demo class checklist for parents suggests more. If the first tutor is not right, the next demo is with someone else on the shortlist, and a later change is free too.

How much does a science home tutor in Nashik cost?

Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Science Home Tutor in Nashik: common questions

How much per hour do Nashik science tutors ask for Classes 6 to 10, and what pushes it up?

Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Each Nashik science tutor sets their own fee. Board-year teaching usually sits higher than middle-school support, and the trip and lessons a week count too.

After a Nashik parent names the hardest science strand, how are tutors offered and tried out?

After a Nashik parent sends the class, board, hardest science strand, locality with a landmark and free afternoons, we send two or three matched science tutors. Each fee is shown before the first class, and the first class is a free demo. If the first tutor is not right, the next demo is with someone else, and switching tutor later is free.

How do the SSC Science and Technology activity sheets work for a Nashik Standard X student?

For a Nashik Standard X student, the Maharashtra State Board examines Science and Technology as two 40-mark papers, written on different days as activity sheets. Another 20 marks come from experiments, a journal and projects marked in school. Practise completing tables, giving reasons and drawing labelled figures, and confirm details on mahahsscboard.in.

Our Nashik child answers science in Marathi; will the tutor use the same textbook terms?

Yes, we can look for a Nashik science tutor who teaches in Marathi, since the State Board recognises both Marathi-medium and English-medium schools. Tell us the language your child writes answers in. A good tutor explains in that language and uses the textbook's own technical terms, so nothing has to be translated twice at exam time.

Across biology, chemistry and physics, how do the 80 CBSE Class 10 science board marks fall for a Nashik student?

For a Nashik CBSE Class 10 student, biology carries 30 of the 80 science board marks, with chemistry and physics at 25 each. By unit, Chemical Substances and World of Living take 25 apiece, Effects of Current 13, Natural Phenomena 12 and Our Environment 5. School-based assessment supplies the other 20, across four components.

Which Class 10 science chapters does a Nashik CBSE school mark itself in 2026-27, outside the board paper?

For 2026-27, a Nashik CBSE school assesses the electric motor, electromagnetic induction and the generator, evolution, and the periodic arrangement of elements itself. These stay out of the Class 10 science board paper. Teach them properly, since Class 11 builds on them, but spend board revision weeks on the examined chapters.

Can an older sibling's Class 9 science notes still serve a Nashik CBSE student?

Probably not, because a Nashik CBSE Class 9 student now uses NCERT's new Exploration book, not the one older notes follow. Its exam gives matter 27 marks, the world of living 25, motion, force, work and sound 23 and Earth as a system 5, with 20 internal. Plan from the current chapters instead.

Where a new lane in Makhmalabad or the Dindori Road side of Mhasrul is hard to find, how do we set up science visits?

For science visits in Makhmalabad or Mhasrul in Nashik, send a map pin, colony name and landmark before the demo, since some newer lanes are not well known. In Mhasrul, Dindori Road carries most traffic and is busy morning and evening. A mid-afternoon or early-evening slot usually keeps the lesson regular through the term.

Up to Class 10 in Nashik, is one teacher for all three sciences enough, or should ICSE families split them?

For Nashik State Board and CBSE students up to Class 10, one science tutor usually covers all three strands well and spots when weak arithmetic, not physics, costs marks. ICSE examines physics, chemistry and biology as separate papers, so some ICSE families add a specialist for the weakest one from Class 9. Online widens the choice.

Ray diagrams, circuit symbols, balanced equations: which of these should a Nashik child do without thinking by Standard X?

Before Class 10, a Nashik science tutor should drill ray diagrams with arrows on every ray, circuits with standard symbols and labelled biology figures until they are automatic. Balanced chemical equations with state symbols, and observation tables with units and a one-line conclusion, matter too. State Board activity sheets reward those tables directly.

For after-school science in Nashik, does a tutor at home or an online lesson suit a Class 6 to 10 child?

For Class 6 to 10 science in Nashik, a home tutor usually suits after-school lessons when the trip is short and predictable, because sessions fall between school and dinner. If nobody suitable can travel to you at that hour, we offer an online or part-online plan. ICSE science teachers are fewer, so an online tutor widens the choice.
