Tutors who join go through an ID check. Tell us the class, board and your area: we share two or three matched tutors, each with their fee, and the first class is a free demo, at home or online.
Book a free demo classAcross NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Tutors set their own fee, and you see each tutor's fee before the demo class.
Monthly example: 3 one-hour classes a week ≈ ₹9,600–₹32,500 a month (12–13 classes at ₹800–₹2,500 an hour). An example, not a quote: your tutor's own fee decides the real figure.

Biology looks like the gentle science until the senior years, when the volume arrives. A student in Mira Road and Bhayandar heading for NEET or MHT-CET (PCB) has to hold thousands of exact facts, draw structures cleanly, and still write full answers for the board paper. College lectures move through the syllabus at speed; what is often missing is someone who quizzes your child point by point, corrects the written answers and keeps the practical file honest. Tell NXTutors the standard, the board, the entrance goal and your building. A shortlist of two or three biology tutors follows, each fee in plain sight, and your opening class with one of them is a free demo.
| Paper | How it is marked | What it rewards |
|---|---|---|
| HSC Biology, State Board | Written and practical parts across the two junior-college years, under the scheme now in force | Answers in the textbook's terms, with neat labelled figures |
| CBSE Biology (044) | Out of 100 in each of Classes 11 and 12: theory 70, practical 30 | Complete NCERT-based answers sized to the marks |
| ISC Biology (863) | Class 12: a 70-mark theory paper, then 30 more from practicals (15), a project (10) and the file (5) | Precise vocabulary and tidy diagrams |
| NEET (UG) | In 2026, 90 of 180 questions were biology, on a 720-mark paper with +4 and −1 | Exact recall under time pressure |
| MHT-CET (PCB) | Pattern published by the State CET Cell on cetcell.mahacet.org | Check the Cell's syllabus each year |
| IB Biology; IGCSE | IB Diploma at Standard or Higher Level; IGCSE set by Cambridge (0610) or by Edexcel (4BI1) | Data analysis and the student's own investigation (IB) |
Up to Class 10, biology is one strand of general science; our science tutor page for this city covers those years.
Once the SSC is done, most State Board students go to junior college, and biology students there often have a medical or allied entrance test in view. The board recognises Marathi-medium as well as English-medium schools, and many children here speak Hindi, Gujarati or Urdu at home, so the thick layer of English terms in Standard XI can come as a jolt. HSC biology marks are not given here; mahahsscboard.in carries the scheme in force.
When you meet a tutor, look for three things: questions drawn from the board's prescribed book and its sample papers, never borrowed from a different board; explanations in whichever language your child understands fastest, with the written answer kept in the paper's language; and a monthly look at the journal, not a rush before the practical exam. Other subjects on the board are on our Maharashtra Board home tutor in Mira-Bhayandar page.
| Class 11 unit | Marks | Class 12 unit | Marks |
|---|---|---|---|
| Human Physiology | 18 | Genetics and Evolution | 20 |
| Diversity of Living Organisms | 15 | Reproduction | 16 |
| Cell: Structure and Function | 15 | Biology and Human Welfare | 12 |
| Plant Physiology | 12 | Biotechnology and its Applications | 12 |
| Structural Organisation in Plants and Animals | 10 | Ecology and Environment | 10 |
By skill, the Class 12 design is 50% recall and understanding, 30% applying and 20% analysing or evaluating. Genetics, the largest Class 12 unit, is learned by working crosses, so it needs a handful of problems every week from the start. Human physiology and the cell, both heavy in Class 11, come back in NEET, which makes a short refresher on both during the holidays between Class 11 and Class 12 worth the effort.
The ISC Class 12 theory paper is out of 70: reproduction 16, genetics and evolution 15, ecology 15, biology and human welfare 14, and biotechnology 10. Thirty further marks are earned away from the paper: practical work brings 15, the project 10 and the practical file 5. Examiners reward exact terms and clean labelled figures, so presentation needs rehearsal as much as content. Few biology teachers in any one locality have taught ISC recently, so put the board in the very first line of your request and stay open to an online tutor or one from the Mumbai side.
In 2026, NEET (UG) set 180 multiple-choice questions, every one compulsory, for a total of 720 marks. Biology supplied 90 of them, as many as physics and chemistry combined, and each answer earned four marks if right and lost one if wrong. The National Medical Commission notifies the syllabus and NTA publishes each year's pattern on neet.nta.nic.in, so plan from the latest bulletin. Three habits pay off: reading every NCERT line, figure and table without skipping, sitting timed question sets often, and returning to a log of past mistakes until they stop recurring. More on the medical route is on our NEET home tutor in Mira-Bhayandar page and in the article NEET: coaching or a home tutor?
The lecture introduces; the home tutor checks and fixes. A two-week rhythm like this covers board and entrance needs without repeating college:
| Session | Focus | What the student leaves with |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Recall of the chapter just taught, book closed | A list of points that would not come back |
| 2 | A pair of long board-style answers, figures included, marked during the session | One corrected model answer to revise from |
| 3 | A timed objective set on older chapters | An error log entry for every wrong option chosen |
| 4 | Practical record, slides and specimens from photographs, viva questions | A record that is up to date |
Book the visits after college and the batch have finished for the day. Handing the tutor both timetables in week one lets the plan fill real gaps.
No school science piles up vocabulary like biology does, and a student who thinks in Marathi, Hindi, Gujarati or Urdu is in effect learning each new word in two languages. These habits lighten the load:
In CBSE, practical work carries 30 marks; in ISC, practicals, project and file add up to the same 30. On the State Board, the board's practical rules apply. Lab work itself is done at school. At home, though, a tutor can check that every record entry has its aim, a clear figure and the observations; quiz the student on slides and specimens using pictures; and rehearse likely viva questions. Writing up a little every week keeps the file whole.
Tutors are listed locality by locality on our Mira-Bhayandar page. Here is what to tell a biology tutor in six of them:
| Locality | Local point | Arrangement |
|---|---|---|
| Mira Road East | Many colonies under one name; parents often back late from Mumbai | Colony, building, wing and floor with a map pin, and a seven or eight o'clock slot |
| Hatkesh Udyog Nagar | Newer apartment buildings and recently arrived families | Mention any board change so the first weeks go on finding gaps |
| Kashimira | At the Mumbai boundary; senior students often combine junior college with NEET or MHT-CET preparation | Share the coaching timetable, and say which side of the highway you live on |
| Mira Gaon | Old village lanes; some families speak Marathi at home | Lane, house name and landmark; say whether terms should be explained in Marathi |
| Penkarpada | An older settlement on the Kashimira side, near the Mumbai edge | Welcome a tutor from the Mumbai suburbs, and draw one diagram together in the demo |
| Bhayandar East | East of the railway; journals and coaching tests often clash | Write Bhayandar East in full, and agree how each chapter will be checked |
The Kashimira and Mira Gaon and Bhayandar East and Navghar zone pages and the Mira-Bhayandar home tuition guide say more. Biology also works on a screen: the tutor sketches on a shared board and checks your child's drawing through the camera. A common pattern is one visit at home and one class online every week; see online tutors for Mira-Bhayandar.
If the fit is wrong, another tutor from your shortlist gives a demo, and changing tutor later is free.
Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Each tutor sets their own rate, shown on the shortlist before the demo. Worth asking: which board and entrance test have you taught in the last year, and how would you divide the week between them? Further questions are in the Mira-Bhayandar home tuition fees guide.
Tell us the standard and board, whether NEET or MHT-CET is the aim, the units that cause most trouble, which days college and coaching already fill, the language your child learns in most easily, your building and locality, and when you are free. Our reply lists two or three biology tutors and what each charges. If the first demo feels wrong, the next tutor on the list gives one, and a change later in the year is free. Tutors who join go through an ID check; the Verified badge appears only after the ID check is complete (how the ID check works). For physics and chemistry, open this city's physics and chemistry pages. IGCSE and IB families can start with the all-India biology home tutor page; families across the boundary can try biology tutors in Mumbai or the Mumbai hub. Biology teachers based in Mira Road or Bhayandar will find open requests on the Mira-Bhayandar tuition jobs page.
Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Biology tutors in Mira-Bhayandar set their own rates, shown before the demo. Ask how they would divide each week between board and entrance work.
Send the standard, board, entrance test, hardest units, college and coaching days, your child's easiest language, your building and locality, and free hours. NXTutors suggests two or three biology tutors with their fees. The first lesson is a free demo, and a change of tutor later is free.
Genetics and Evolution leads CBSE Class 12 biology with 20 of the 70 theory marks, followed by Reproduction with 16. Biology and Human Welfare and Biotechnology carry 12 each, and Ecology 10. Genetics is learned by working crosses, so a few problems every week from the start helps most.
ISC Class 12 biology has a 70-mark theory paper: reproduction 16, genetics and evolution 15, ecology 15, biology and human welfare 14, and biotechnology 10. Practical work adds 15, a project 10 and the practical file 5. Examiners reward exact terms and clean labelled figures.
Biology made up 90 of the 180 NEET (UG) questions in 2026, as many as physics and chemistry combined, on a 720-mark paper. Each right answer earned four marks and each wrong one lost a mark. Slow NCERT reading, timed sets and a revisited error log help most.
A home biology tutor can run a two-week rhythm: closed-book recall, two marked board answers with diagrams, a timed objective set, and practical record work. Visits should be booked after college and coaching end. Share both timetables in the first week so tuition fills real gaps instead of repeating lectures.
Biology terms should be pronounced, explained in the language that works, and then written onto a labelled sketch. Learning word roots helps a student decode new terms, and a personal glossary tested weekly keeps them fresh. Answers are always written in the language of the exam paper.
Yes, a home tutor can check every record entry for aim, figure and observations, quiz slides and specimens from photographs, and rehearse viva questions. CBSE practical work carries 30 marks, and ISC practicals, project and file total 30 too. State Board students follow their own board's rules.
No, HSC biology marks are left out on purpose; mahahsscboard.in carries the scheme in force. A State Board biology tutor should practise from the board's prescribed book and sample papers, explain in the language your child grasps fastest, and check the journal monthly rather than before the practical exam.
Yes, Kashimira students combining junior college with MHT-CET (PCB) or NEET preparation often take home biology tuition. Share the coaching timetable and say which side of the Western Express Highway you live on. The State CET Cell publishes the MHT-CET pattern on cetcell.mahacet.org, so check it each year.
