Home Tuition in East Pune: Viman Nagar to Camp and Wanowrie
East Pune stretches from the old cantonment streets of Camp and the bungalow lanes of Koregaon Park, across the Mula-Mutha river, to the office towers of Viman Nagar and Kharadi and out along Nagar Road to Wagholi. Homes range from British-era bungalows and cantonment villas to gated societies of 2 and 3 BHK flats, so the first visit can mean anything from ringing a bell at a garden gate to a guard's register in a tower lobby.
This guide covers two zones: Viman Nagar, Kalyani Nagar and Kharadi; and Koregaon Park, Camp and Wanowrie. For each area it sets out how tutors usually arrive, the gate or doorstep routine and when a weekday class is most likely to start on time.
How does the Aqua Line shape east Pune?
The Aqua Line runs from Vanaz in the west to Ramwadi, its elevated eastern terminus in Viman Nagar. Pune Railway Station stop opened on 1 August 2023. The section east of there, with Bund Garden, Kalyani Nagar and Ramwadi stations, opened on 6 March 2024, and Yerwada station followed on 21 August 2024 after its entry and exit points were revised. A tutor living anywhere along the line, from Kothrud to Deccan, can therefore reach much of east Pune by metro and finish with a short auto ride.
Beyond Ramwadi the picture changes. Kharadi and Wagholi have no station yet; an Aqua Line extension from Ramwadi towards Wagholi has central government approval, but it is not yet built. Nagar Road, the Pune to Ahmednagar road, starts at Yerawada and passes through Vadgaon Sheri, Kharadi and Wagholi, and Airport Road branches from it at Yerawada.

Viman Nagar, Kalyani Nagar and Kharadi
This zone grew around offices. Kharadi was a village on the river until IT offices began arriving around 2005, and Wagholi was added to the Pune Municipal Corporation area only in 2021. Pune Airport sits at Lohegaon just to the north; its new terminal opened to passengers on 14 July 2024. For tuition, the practical point is that Nagar Road and Airport Road fill up at the start and end of the working day, so class timing matters more here than almost anything else.
- Viman Nagar: its name means airport town in Marathi, and before independence the area was known as Dunkirk Lines. Apartment complexes and a few row-house pockets sit among offices and restaurants. Ramwadi station is on Nagar Road beside it. Most families live in gated societies, so register the tutor at the gate once.
- Kalyani Nagar: mainly residential, on the river with Koregaon Park on the far bank and a bridge between them. It has its own Aqua Line station, with Yerwada and Ramwadi on either side. A fixed weekly slot helps the guard desk recognise the tutor; weekday evenings near the bridge can be slow.
- Kharadi: a major office hub where most families live in towers and gated societies. The Kharadi to Mundhwa and Kharadi to Hadapsar bypass roads carry traffic south across the river. Large societies may limit visitor parking, so sort out both the gate entry and parking before the first class.
- Wagholi: an old village core with individual homes, and newer societies that grew with the offices in Kharadi and Viman Nagar. The highway, now signed as the Pune to Ahilyanagar road, is the spine, with Lohegaon Road and Bakori Road branching off. Many societies are spread out, so a clear block number saves time.
- Yerawada: a large, densely built area north of the river, reached from Bund Garden by an old bridge, with homes in distinct pockets between office parks and large campuses. In independent houses the tutor comes to the door; apartment blocks may keep a visitor register. Junctions around the bridges are busy at office times.
- Vadgaon Sheri: also spelt Wadgaon Sheri, between Nagar Road and the river. Its central part, once Digambar Nagar, is now widely called New Kalyani Nagar. Nagar Road is the quickest way in, and Ramwadi station is on the Viman Nagar side. Gated societies ask for a one-time registration.
Koregaon Park, Camp and Wanowrie
The Pune Cantonment, usually called Camp, was established in 1817 to house troops and is still run by the Pune Cantonment Board. It was planned over four villages: Mali, Munjeri, Wanowrie and Ghorpuri. Koregaon Park came later, laid out in the early 1920s on Ghorpuri village land and first called Koregaon Road Estate. Solapur Road, part of National Highway 65, begins at Pulgate and runs through Camp towards Hadapsar.
- Koregaon Park: leafy lanes of old bungalows beside newer apartment buildings, between North Main Road and South Main Road. Bund Garden is the closest station. In bungalows the tutor comes straight to the gate and parking is simple. Restaurant traffic fills lanes six and seven in the evening, so an after-school slot is smoother.
- Camp: apartments, older villas and builder floors around East Street and the other shopping streets, with army areas close by. The Pune Railway Station stop gives tutors a metro route. Lanes are narrow and parking is tight, and army areas have their own entry rules, so confirm access before the first visit.
- Wanowrie: one of the four villages taken into the cantonment in 1817, now a settled area of older housing, apartment complexes and a few villas. There is no station, so tutors come by road, often from east or south Pune. Traffic towards Solapur Road and Hadapsar builds at office times.
- Salunke Vihar: also written Salunkhe Vihar, a settled pocket between Wanowrie, Kondhwa and NIBM Road that includes Sainik Vihar. Independent homes let the tutor straight to the door; societies may ask for an ID at the gate. Evening traffic builds where the main road meets Wanowrie and NIBM Road.
When should a weekday class start?
- Before or after the office wave. Nagar Road, Airport Road and the Kharadi bypass roads peak at the start and end of the working day. An after-school slot that finishes before the evening wave, or one that starts once it has passed, keeps classes on time.
- Weekday afternoons in Camp and Koregaon Park. Shopping crowds in Camp peak on weekend evenings, and restaurant traffic fills Koregaon Park's lanes at night.
- Weekends for Kharadi and Wagholi. Where every trip is by road, a weekend morning often suits both sides.
- Online for the specialist. Families looking for IB, IGCSE or senior-science specialists here often pair a local tutor with online sessions.

Frequently asked questions
Which metro station is nearest to Viman Nagar?
The nearest metro station to Viman Nagar is Ramwadi, the eastern terminus of the Aqua Line, which stands on Nagar Road and opened on 6 March 2024. A tutor from Kothrud, Deccan or the railway station side can ride the line and take an auto for the last stretch. Most families there live in gated societies, so register the tutor at the gate once.
Is there a metro station in Kharadi?
Kharadi has no metro station yet, so tutors usually arrive by two-wheeler, bus or auto, with Ramwadi on the Aqua Line as the nearest station. An extension from Ramwadi towards Wagholi has central government approval but is not yet built. Until then, time classes away from the Nagar Road office rush and sort out visitor parking with the society.
Can a tutor visit a home in the army areas of Camp?
Visiting a home in the army areas of Pune's Camp depends on their own entry rules, so confirm what the tutor needs before the free demo. Share your full address and any pass details in advance. In Camp's civilian lanes the tutor comes to the door or checks in with the watchman, and the Pune Railway Station metro stop gives a route in.
When is the easiest time for a class in Koregaon Park?
The easiest time for a class in Koregaon Park is usually a weekday slot soon after school, before restaurant traffic fills lanes six and seven in the evening. Bund Garden is the closest station. Bungalows let the tutor come straight to the gate with simple parking, while apartment buildings keep a visitor log, so share the tutor's name in advance.
How much does home tuition cost in east Pune?
Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Each tutor in east Pune sets their own fee, which you see before the free demo.
How do tutors reach Wagholi?
Tutors reach Wagholi by road, on a two-wheeler, bus or auto, because the area has no metro station yet. The highway, now signed as the Pune to Ahilyanagar road, is its spine, with Lohegaon Road and Bakori Road branching off. Many societies are spread out, so share a clear block number with the gate pass details; weekend mornings often suit both sides.
