Tutors who join go through an ID check. Tell us the class, board and your area: we share two or three matched tutors, each with their fee, and the first class is a free demo, at home or online.
Book a free demo classAcross NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Tutors set their own fee, and you see each tutor's fee before the demo class.
Monthly example: 3 one-hour classes a week ≈ ₹9,600–₹32,500 a month (12–13 classes at ₹800–₹2,500 an hour). An example, not a quote: your tutor's own fee decides the real figure.

Two Pune students can both say "I'm weak in economics" and need opposite things. One is a junior college student whose HSC answers are thin; another is an IB student whose diagrams are fine but whose commentaries never reach a judgement. So rather than describe economics in general, this page starts from four typical situations, then covers what each board examines, how a tutor reaches each part of Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad, when online lessons make sense, and how to judge the free demo. For the subject itself, read our national economics home tutor guide.
When answers are correct but short and marks slip on presentation, the tutor works from the State Board textbook, sets past HSC questions, and teaches the student to write a definition, an explanation and an example in the space the paper allows.
Class 11 Statistics for Economics carries 40 of the 80 theory marks, and the tables and index numbers look alarming. It is arithmetic, set out carefully and then interpreted. A tutor who insists on tabulated working turns it into a reliable half of the paper.
ISC Economics takes 60 of its 80 theory marks from five 12-mark answers chosen from eight, after 20 compulsory short-answer marks. The fix is timed practice: one full question per session, marked against the syllabus, until pace and structure are automatic.
The ideas are understood, but evaluation is missing. IB HL adds a policy paper, and A Level essays come without parts to guide the structure. The tutor pushes for a reasoned judgement and a short written plan before every essay.
| Board and course | Content and weighting | Coursework |
|---|---|---|
| Maharashtra State Board, HSC | The board's own textbook and paper; pattern on its official website | As set by the board and junior college |
| CBSE 030, Class 11 | Statistics 40; Introductory Microeconomics 40 | 20-mark project |
| CBSE 030, Class 12 | Introductory Macroeconomics 40; Indian Economic Development 40 | 20-mark project, 3,500–4,000 words, with a viva worth 8 |
| ISC 856 | Class 11: basic concepts, Indian economic development, statistics. Class 12: micro theory, income and employment, money and banking, balance of payments, public finance, national income | Two projects of 10 marks each year |
| Cambridge IGCSE 0455 | Six sections, from the basic economic problem to international trade; two papers, 30% and 70% | None |
| Cambridge AS & A Level 9708 | Multiple choice plus data response and essays at both stages | None |
| IB Diploma, SL and HL | Four units; Papers 1 and 2, plus a Paper 3 policy paper at HL | Portfolio of three news commentaries (30% SL, 20% HL) |
The Pune hub describes IB and Cambridge students as a smaller group in the city, which is one reason online lessons often make sense for them. For board-wide help, see our CBSE tutors in Pune, ICSE and ISC tutors in Pune and IB tutors in Pune pages. On the IB commentaries, a tutor may teach the method on practice articles and explain the criteria, but must never write any part of them.
The Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education holds the HSC at the end of Class 12, and Pune's State Board students usually take Classes 11 and 12 in a junior college. Economics is taught from the board's prescribed textbook. We do not restate the paper pattern here because the board sets and revises it; the board's official website and your child's college are the places to check. In a request, say the course is HSC and name the medium your child writes in, because definitions and diagram labels need to match the paper's language. A tutor who practises with past HSC papers, not CBSE sample papers, is the right fit.
Students still choosing a stream can read our guide to the Class 11 stream choice; it is written for Gurugram, but the reasoning about commerce and humanities applies in Pune too.
Yes: NTA's CUET (UG) 2026 bulletin lists Economics / Business Economics (code 309) as a domain subject, with 50 compulsory questions in 60 minutes on NCERT's Class 12 syllabus. HSC and ISC students should map that syllabus against their own, and everyone should read the bulletin for their year. Objective questions reward quick concept recognition and accurate short calculations, which a tutor can drill once board answers are in good shape.
A good session has the student doing most of the work: recalling last week's idea, drawing a diagram from memory, solving one numerical and writing one exam-style answer that the tutor marks on the spot. Take a Class 12 macroeconomics question. If the marginal propensity to consume is 0.8, the investment multiplier is 1 ÷ (1 − 0.8), which is 5, so an extra ₹100 crore of investment raises income by ₹500 crore. Many students stop at the number. The tutor then asks the follow-up questions the paper rewards: why does a higher propensity to consume give a bigger multiplier, and what happens to the result if people save more of each extra rupee? A student who can answer those in two clear sentences has turned a three-mark calculation into a full-marks answer, and the habit carries over to every numerical in the syllabus.
Any family can request an economics tutor. We look first at tutors within easy reach of your zone, then widen to the rest of the city, then to online tutors across India.
| Zone | Nearest public transport | Sort out beforehand |

| Aundh, Baner and Pashan, e.g. Aundh | No working metro at the time of writing; road only | Gate entry with tower and flat a day ahead |
| Wakad, Hinjewadi and Pimpri-Chinchwad, e.g. Chinchwad | Suburban trains to Chinchwad or Akurdi; Purple Line to PCMC Bhavan | An early-evening or weekend slot away from IT traffic |

Economics adapts to screens easily: diagrams on a shared whiteboard, a news article read together, an essay marked on screen. Online lessons also reach the IB and A Level specialists Pune families may not find nearby. Home lessons suit students who need a tutor at their elbow, especially for Class 11 statistics, and families in road-dependent zones often settle on a mix: one home lesson at the weekend, one online midweek. On the heaviest monsoon days, when Satara Road or Sinhagad Road slows to a crawl, switching that week's lesson online keeps the plan intact without losing a session. Our home or online tutor article compares the options.
If not, we arrange the next tutor on your shortlist, and switching is free. Our demo class checklist lists more questions.
Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Tutors set their own fees, and you see every shortlisted fee before the demo. See the Pune home tuition fees guide and our pricing guide.
Send the course and level, which of the four situations sounds like your child, your locality, times, home or online, and a budget. We return two or three matched tutors and the first class is a free demo. Tutors who join go through an ID check, and you can browse tutor profiles yourself. For the other commerce subject, see accountancy tutors in Pune; for English, English home tutors in Pune. Economics teachers can find students on Pune tuition jobs.
You can request one, and we match on SL or HL. The Pune hub describes IB students as a smaller group in the city, so if nobody suitable can reach your suburb at your slot, online lessons open up IB economics tutors across India. Many families combine one home lesson with online sessions.
Under the 2026-27 curriculum, Introductory Macroeconomics and Indian Economic Development each carry 40 theory marks, and a 20-mark project completes the subject. In macro, income and employment is the largest unit at 12 marks; in Indian Economic Development, current challenges carry 20. The project includes a viva worth 8 marks.
Families can request one. We look for tutors who teach from the State Board's prescribed economics textbook and practise with past HSC papers, and we ask which medium your child writes in. The board publishes and revises its own paper pattern, so take current details from its official website.
Often, if the tutor already lives in Hadapsar, Kondhwa or NIBM Road. The zone has no metro, and a long ride across the city is the usual reason a weekly slot slips. We list nearby tutors first, and suggest online or mixed lessons when nobody close can teach your child's course.
No. The IB portfolio of three commentaries must be the student's own work. A tutor can teach the skill on practice news articles, explain the assessment criteria and help a student judge whether an article gives enough to work with, but must never write or rewrite any part of a commentary.
