Tutors who join go through an ID check. Tell us the class, board and your area: we share two or three matched tutors, each with their fee, and the first class is a free demo, at home or online.
Book a free demo classAcross NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Tutors set their own fee, and you see each tutor's fee before the demo class.
Monthly example: 3 one-hour classes a week ≈ ₹9,600–₹32,500 a month (12–13 classes at ₹800–₹2,500 an hour). An example, not a quote: your tutor's own fee decides the real figure.

Families in Kalaburagi (Gulbarga) rarely ask for "a maths teacher" in general. They ask for someone who can take a Class 10 child through the state SSLC paper, or a CBSE student through calculus, or a PU student through the Karnataka CET and JEE Main in the same year. Many children here speak Kannada or Urdu at home and write their maths in English at school, and that gap shows up in word problems long before it shows up in sums. So the right tutor is chosen on three counts: the paper, the language and the free hour after school. Share those with NXTutors and you get two or three matched maths tutors. You see each fee on the shortlist before anyone visits, and the first class is a free demo.
The exam guidance on this page carries two names. Ajay Vatsyayan answers for the IB, IGCSE and ISC parts. Abhinandan Tiwary writes the Class 10 CBSE and ICSE advice. For the state papers we rely on what the Karnataka board itself publishes: blueprints and model papers. Each board decides the chapters, what a full-marks answer looks like and which past papers deserve practice time, so find your child's line in the table before you speak to anyone.
| Course | Examined by | What comes after | Ask the tutor |
|---|---|---|---|
| State syllabus, Class 10 (SSLC) | KSEAB | PU science, commerce or arts | Which strand of this year's blueprint do my child's marks leak from? |
| PU science with maths (II PUC) | KSEAB | Karnataka CET, JEE Main, or both | How do you keep board writing alive during CET practice? |
| CBSE Classes 10 and 12 | CBSE | Engineering entrance, the CET, or a non-maths stream | Should my child take Standard or Basic, and why? |
| ICSE Class 10, ISC Class 12 | CISCE | Entrance tests open to every board | Is your ISC material for my child's exam year? |
| IB Diploma, Cambridge IGCSE | IB; Cambridge | University study in India or overseas | Have you taught this exact course or tier lately? |
KSEAB, the state's School Examination and Assessment Board, conducts the SSLC at the end of Class 10 and II PUC at the end of the pre-university years. It began in 1966 as the Karnataka Secondary Education Examination Board, took its present name in 2022, and runs its work from Bengaluru with divisional offices in four cities, one of them Kalaburagi. Students who do not clear the main SSLC get a repeat sitting.
Its 2026-27 blueprint sets maths as one paper of 80 marks and 38 questions: 16 of one mark, 8 of two, 9 of three, 4 of four and a single five-mark question, with internal choice in the longer ones. Fourteen chapters share the marks. Grouped by strand rather than by chapter, the picture tells a tutor where the weekly hours should go:
| Strand | Chapters and marks | Total | Habit to build |
|---|---|---|---|
| Algebra | Arithmetic Progressions 8; Pair of Linear Equations 8; Quadratic Equations 6; Real Numbers 5; Polynomials 5 | 32 | Turning a word problem into an equation, in writing, before solving |
| Geometry | Triangles 9; Coordinate Geometry 6; Circles 5 | 20 | A neat figure, then every reason written beside its step |
| Trigonometry | Introduction to Trigonometry 6; Some Applications of Trigonometry 4 | 10 | Standard values learned cold; a sketch for every heights question |
| Mensuration | Surface Areas and Volumes 7; Areas Related to Circles 3 | 10 | Units carried on every line, not added at the end |
| Data | Statistics 4; Probability 4 | 8 | Clean tables; a fraction answer checked against 0 and 1 |
Algebra alone is two-fifths of the paper, so a child weak there cannot make it up elsewhere. The sixteen one-mark questions are a separate skill: exact definitions and careful reading, most easily practised as a short quiz to open each lesson. KSEAB also posts model papers and a question bank, and these show how long an answer the examiner expects. Blueprints are revised, so plan from the current copy on kseab.karnataka.gov.in. Our Karnataka board tutor in Kalaburagi page follows a state-syllabus student from Class 9 up to the end of PU.
It matters more than most parents expect. Kannada and Urdu are both widely spoken across the city, and a child may explain a method perfectly at home and still lose marks because "frustum", "common difference" or "perpendicular bisector" did not register in the question. The method is sound; the words are new. A tutor who can move between languages fixes this in weeks rather than terms:
If your child changed medium recently, or will move to English-medium PU next year, say so in your request; it narrows the shortlist to tutors who do this well.
The paper stays at 80 marks but the content jumps: thirteen chapters from Relations and Functions to Probability, with calculus and matrices at the centre. The board's blueprint and model paper lay it out in five parts, and each part asks for a different kind of answer:
So much choice tempts students to drop whole chapters. A careful tutor agrees to that only once the CET and JEE syllabi have been checked, because entrance papers do not honour the board's internal choice. The real work starts in I PUC: functions, trigonometry and limits left shaky in the first year come back in every second-year calculus answer.
Many PU science students in the city write both tests. The chapters overlap; the scoring rewards opposite habits. The Karnataka Examinations Authority's 2026 bulletin set CET maths as 60 multiple-choice questions worth a mark each, and a wrong answer cost nothing, so leaving a bubble empty simply wastes a chance. JEE Main 2026 Paper 1 gave maths 25 of its 75 questions, twenty multiple-choice and five numerical, marked +4 or −1, which makes a wild guess expensive.
The CET also looks back at the board. For the 2026 engineering ranking, CET marks in physics, chemistry and maths and the qualifying exam marks counted in equal measure, so skipping II PUC written practice to drill speed throws away half of what decides the rank. Check every new bulletin before fixing the plan. Our KCET guide explains the state paper. For the national exam, read our topic-by-topic JEE maths plan or visit the JEE home tutor in Kalaburagi page.
For 2026-27 the CBSE Class 10 board paper carries 80 marks and the school adds 20. Of those 80, algebra has 20 and geometry 15; trigonometry brings 12, statistics with probability 11 and mensuration 10, leaving 6 apiece for real numbers and for coordinate geometry. The paper opens with twenty one-mark items (eighteen multiple-choice and two assertion–reason), after which Sections B, C and D hold five, six and four questions worth two, three and five marks, and Section E closes with three case studies of four marks. Calculators are not allowed, and π is 22/7 unless the question says otherwise.
Standard and Basic share a syllabus at two depths. In Standard roughly 54% of the marks reward recall and understanding; in Basic the share is roughly 75%. Any child who might choose maths after Class 10 is safer on Standard. A second, optional Class 10 sitting lets students try to raise their marks in as many as three subjects, and maths qualifies; its timing comes only from cbse.gov.in. How we match for this year is on our Class 10 maths tutor page, and chapter help is in the Class 10 maths preparation guide.
Class 12 brings 38 questions, none optional, worth 80 in all. Calculus supplies 35 of those marks, which earns it a slot in every week from the start of the year. See the Class 12 calculus and algebra guide and our Class 12 maths tutor page.
Specialists in these four courses are scarcer locally than state-syllabus and CBSE teachers, so mention the course in the very first message. Often the answer is an online specialist for the syllabus and a tutor nearby who marks practice at home.
On the first day, an exact address and an agreed hour do more than any teaching plan, because time spent hunting for the house comes out of the lesson. Compare tutors locality by locality on our Kalaburagi page.
| Locality | Setting | Finding you | Agree first |
|---|---|---|---|
| Brahmpur | An older, closely built part of the centre, often with grandparents at home | The spelling your landmark uses (Brahmpur, Brhampur or Brahmapur), the nearest chowk and a map pin | A slot straight after school for an SSLC student, before tiredness sets in |
| Vidya Nagar | The south-west side of the centre, with colleges and study centres around it | Cross road and a landmark; many students in the area, so be specific | Whether your child attends coaching, so the tutor fills gaps instead of repeating it |
| Kailash Nagar | A colony north-west of the centre, towards the old fort | Cross road and a landmark on the fort side, as colony edges are blurred | A first-month plan to rebuild fractions and word problems before algebra races ahead |
| Aland Road | Colonies and newer layouts along a long road running north-west from the fort | Layout name, cross number and which side of the road | Whether the tutor already teaches this way, or an online lesson on some days |
| Adarsh Nagar | A colony on the east side near the Ring Road, with CBSE and state-syllabus families | Which part of the colony and the nearest Ring Road junction | NCERT or state textbook, since tutors here often teach both |
| GDA Layout | A planned layout of numbered plots on the east side | Block or plot number with the cross road, plus a landmark the first time | Two home visits and one short online doubt session, if both parents work |
The zone guides for Brahmpur and the City Centre, the Fort Area and Aland Road and Adarsh Nagar and the East add local detail, and the Kalaburagi home tuition guide walks through every part of the city.
Ask for the chapter your child is doing at school this week, not a polished showpiece, and keep the last marked test on the table. These are the signs worth watching for:
If the fit is wrong, tell us and the next tutor on the shortlist gives a demo; switching tutor later is free too. The demo class checklist for parents has more questions. On home versus online: a tutor sitting beside your child sees a mistake while the pencil is still moving, which matters for young children and lengthy proofs. Online lessons suit a specialist across the city or a long PU day. One of each a week works for many families. Our online tutors for Kalaburagi page and the home tutor or online tutor article weigh up both.
Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Each tutor sets their own rate, which tends to follow the paper, how long they have taught it, the trip to your locality and the number of sessions you book. Every fee is visible before the demo, and our Kalaburagi home tuition fees article lists what to ask.
Six details are enough: the class; the paper by its full name (SSLC, II PUC, CBSE Standard or Basic, ICSE, ISC, IB or IGCSE); your locality with cross road and landmark; the hours free around school, college or coaching; the language your child is most at ease in; and a fee range. We reply with two or three maths tutors and their fees, and you choose one for a free demo. If nobody suitable can reach you at that hour, we suggest an online or mixed plan. Tutors who join go through an ID check; the Verified badge appears only after the ID check is complete (how the ID check works). NXTutors works from Sector 66, Gurugram, and teaches online across India. See the national maths home tutor page, or our Hubballi-Dharwad, Bengaluru and Mysuru pages elsewhere in Karnataka. For sciences here, try physics or science.
Maths teachers who live in Kalaburagi and want students nearby can see open family requests on the Kalaburagi tuition jobs page.
Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Maths tutors in Kalaburagi set their own rates. Ask each one which board and class they taught recently, how many sessions a week they suggest, and whether an online lesson can replace a visit in exam weeks.
NXTutors needs the class, the full paper name, your locality with a landmark, free hours and the language your child prefers. We then send two or three matched maths tutors with their fees shown. The first class is a free demo, and switching tutor later is free.
In the 2026-27 KSEAB blueprint, algebra carries 32 of the 80 SSLC maths marks, geometry 20, trigonometry 10, mensuration 10 and statistics with probability 8. The paper has 38 questions, sixteen of them worth one mark, so a tutor should drill algebra word problems weekly and open each lesson with a short recall quiz.
It can, because word problems use English terms a child may not yet know, even when the method is clear. A tutor who explains in the child's stronger language, keeps a two-column word list and insists that written working stays in the exam language usually closes this gap quickly.
The II PUC maths paper is worth 80 marks in five parts, A to E, across thirteen chapters from Relations and Functions to Probability. Part A has twenty objective items, Parts B to D give choices, and Part E ends with linear programming on graph sheet, so check entrance syllabi before letting chapters drop.
For the 2026 engineering ranking, CET marks in physics, chemistry and maths and the qualifying exam marks counted equally. The CET maths paper itself had 60 one-mark questions with no negative marking, so speed matters, but dropping written board practice gives away half of what decides the rank.
CET maths gives one mark per correct answer with no penalty, while JEE Main takes a mark away for each wrong answer. In 2026, CET maths had 60 questions, and JEE Main Paper 1 had 25 maths questions, five numerical, scored +4 or −1. So blanks waste marks on the CET, and blind guesses cost on JEE.
A Kalaburagi CBSE student who may want maths in Class 11 should take Standard rather than Basic. Both share one syllabus for 80 board marks, but roughly 54% of Standard marks test recall and understanding, against roughly 75% in Basic. An optional second Class 10 exam can improve maths too; dates come from cbse.gov.in.
ISC, IB and IGCSE maths specialists are fewer in Kalaburagi than SSLC, PU and CBSE teachers, so name the course in your first message. Where nobody suitable lives nearby, an online specialist can teach the course while a local tutor checks written practice. From 2027, ISC maths is one 80-mark paper with vectors and probability compulsory.
Families in Brahmpur should give the spelling their landmark uses, Brahmpur, Brhampur or Brahmapur, with the nearest chowk and a map pin, since lanes are narrow. On Aland Road, give the layout name, cross number and side of the road, and ask whether the tutor already teaches that way or could take some lessons online.
Tell us the class, board and your area. We share two or three matched tutors, and the first class is a free demo.
