What home tuition costs in Kanpur

Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Tutors set their own fee, and you see each tutor's fee before the demo class.

Monthly example: 3 one-hour classes a week ≈ ₹9,600–₹32,500 a month (12–13 classes at ₹800–₹2,500 an hour). An example, not a quote: your tutor's own fee decides the real figure.

Physics home tutor in Kanpur: the hour that turns a crowded coaching week into finished problems

A Class 11 or 12 physics student in Kanpur often has a packed timetable already: school in the day, then a JEE or NEET batch, very possibly in Kakadeo, where coaching centres line the roads. What that week seldom includes is a teacher who reads the student's own working line by line and fixes the step that keeps going wrong. That is where a home physics tutor earns their place. Whether your child writes the UP Board Intermediate paper, CBSE, ISC or an international course, NXTutors puts forward two or three physics tutors who know that exam and can reach your locality after coaching ends. You compare their fees before booking, and the opening session costs nothing.

Which physics exam is the real target?

The chapters overlap, but each exam pays for different skills. Settle the main target in the first week; the practice the tutor sets should follow from it.

Five physics exams a Kanpur senior-secondary student may be aiming at, side by side
ExamPhysics in itHow it is markedWhat to practise most
UP Board Intermediate, Class 1270-mark paper in five sections plus 30 practicalWritten answers; pass at 23 and 10Derivations and numericals laid out in full, in the student's answer language
CBSE Class 12 (042)70-mark theory paper of 33 compulsory questions, 30 practicalWritten; no calculatorDerivations, ray diagrams, case-based reading
JEE Main (2026 pattern)25 of 75 questions, 5 of them numerical-answer+4 correct, −1 wrongMulti-step problems against the clock, then error review
JEE Advanced2026 eligibility: the first 2,50,000 JEE Main candidatesSet by the organising institute each yearProblems joining several ideas; past Advanced papers
NEET (UG), 202645 of 180 questions; 180 of 720 marks; pen and paper+4 correct, −1 wrongNCERT-level precision and fewer blind guesses

A board deleting a topic does not delete it from an entrance exam, whose syllabus the conducting body publishes separately; read the latest bulletin on nta.ac.in first. Chapter-level advice is in our JEE physics, topic by topic and NEET physics high-yield list; our JEE physics tutor and NEET physics tutor pages explain matching for each.

How is UP Board Intermediate physics marked?

The UP Board (UPMSP) examines physics in both Class 11 and Class 12 with a 70-mark paper and a 30-mark practical; in Class 12 a pass needs 23 on the paper and 10 in the practical. The paper is split into two parts of 35 marks each, which makes the year easy to divide.

UP Board physics, Classes 11 and 12: the two 35-mark parts of each paper
ClassPart A (35)Part B (35)
11Physical world and measurement 1, kinematics 6, laws of motion 7, work, energy and power 7, rigid bodies and systems of particles 7, gravitation 7Properties of bulk matter 10, thermodynamics 9, ideal gases and kinetic theory 6, oscillations and waves 10
12Electrostatics 8, current electricity 7, magnetic effect of current and magnetism 8, electromagnetic induction and AC 8, electromagnetic waves 4Optics 13, dual nature 6, atoms and nuclei 8, electronic devices 8

Optics, at 13, outweighs every other Class 12 unit, so ray diagrams drawn with a ruler deserve regular practice. The board's model paper has five sections and is printed in Hindi, so a student who answers in Hindi needs a tutor fluent in the Hindi terms; one moving to English for JEE needs both. Our UP Board tutors in Kanpur page covers the other subjects.

Where do the 70 CBSE Class 12 theory marks sit?

CBSE's 2026-27 sample paper keeps last session's design, with fourteen NCERT chapters grouped into four marking blocks. Electricity and magnetism, from electrostatics to alternating current, carries 33, close to half the paper. Optics with electromagnetic waves carries 18, dual nature with atoms and nuclei 12, and semiconductor electronics 7, which now stops short of transistors and logic gates; old notes covering those can be set aside.

Thirty-three questions fill five sections. A is the one-mark block: 16 items, of which 12 are multiple-choice and 4 assertion–reason. B has five worth two, C seven worth three, D two case studies worth four, and E three long answers worth five. Recall earns only about 38% of the paper; the rest is application and reasoning, with constants supplied and no calculator. There is a single main Class 12 board exam, dates for 2027 still to come on cbse.gov.in. Derivations that come up year after year are gathered in our Class 12 physics strategies; for a month-by-month approach, see the Class 12 physics tutor page.

Can practical marks be prepared at home?

Largely, yes, and it is the part of physics coaching batches rarely touch. In CBSE's 30-mark practical, two experiments bring 14 (one per section, 7 apiece), the viva 5, the record 5, and the activity and the investigatory project 3 each. A complete record holds eight or more experiments split evenly between the two sections, six or more activities split the same way, and the project write-up. The UP Board's 30 practical marks call for the same kind of care.

Nobody can run the experiments at home, but a tutor can go through the record page by page (aim, labelled set-up, readings table, result), drill the precautions and likely errors for each experiment, and play examiner in a practice viva: why repeat a reading, what does this gradient tell us, which error matters most here?

What should a home tutor do that a coaching batch does not?

  1. Work through the backlog. A batch moves at the pace of the room, and problems the student could not finish pile up. The home hour takes them one at a time until each can be solved without help.
  2. Keep the board paper alive. Entrance coaching rarely asks for full derivations or labelled diagrams, yet board marks depend on them. One session a week on board-style answers keeps them sharp.
  3. Insist on a solving routine. Every solution in the same order: a diagram with directions marked, the principle named in words, substitution with units on each line, and a check that the answer's sign and size make sense.

We compare JEE coaching and a home tutor in one article, and the NEET equivalent in another. See also our JEE and NEET home tutor pages for Kanpur.

How should a tutor read a mock test?

A mock score alone says little. Bring the two latest coaching tests to the free demo and ask the tutor to sort every lost mark into one of three piles: a concept the student does not yet hold, a careless slip in a step the student does know, and a question that should have been left alone under negative marking. The size of each pile decides the next fortnight: concept work, slower written practice, or exam strategy. A tutor who can do this sorting on the spot, before teaching anything new, is usually the right one.

Can a physics tutor reach you after coaching in these six Kanpur localities?

Senior students often get home after dark, which pushes physics late into the evening. Whether that hour holds depends on the tutor's route. Find tutors locality by locality on our Kanpur page.

Late physics lessons in six Kanpur localities: how a tutor gets there and the arrangement that helps
LocalityGetting thereArrangement that helps
KakadeoTwo-wheeler is easier than a car on the coaching roads; Geeta Nagar station serves the next-door areaA slot clear of batch changeover; register the tutor at the apartment gate
RawatpurMetro at Rawatpur Chauraha, linked with the railway station on GT RoadThe lane name and a landmark by the crossing for inner-lane homes
Swaroop NagarMoti Jheel station on the Orange Line, then a walk or an autoThe tutor's name left with the guard for regular visits
Arya NagarTo the door of an independent house; Moti Jheel is in neighbouring Swaroop NagarA well-known shop or crossing as the meeting point on the first visit
KeshavpuramMetro to Kalyanpur or Rawatpur, then an auto; room for a two-wheeler outside most housesFull block and plot number, as lanes in the scheme look alike
PankiBy road on the highway, or train to Panki station and an auto from its standA time outside shift changes, when work traffic is heaviest

On evenings when coaching overruns, swap the home visit for an online hour with the same tutor rather than cancelling. The Central Kanpur zone guide has more on the coaching roads.

What about ISC, IB or IGCSE physics?

  • ISC. CISCE assesses practical work and a project beside the theory paper and rewards answers that explain, not just state. Confirm the tutor is teaching your exam year's syllabus.
  • IB Diploma. Today's course is built on five themes labelled by letter; options and Paper 3 are gone. Written exams decide 80% of the grade, and the remaining 20% comes from an investigation that must be the student's own design. IB recommends 150 teaching hours for SL and 240 for HL. More in our IB physics SL and HL guide.
  • Cambridge IGCSE. Entered at Core or at Extended. Students joining an Indian board in Class 11 afterwards usually need extra time on vectors and graphs.

On timing: starting in Class 11 usually costs less overall, because the vectors and graphs of mechanics return throughout Class 12. The Class 11 physics tutor page and our guide to choosing a stream go further.

What does a physics home tutor in Kanpur charge?

Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Tutors set their own fees, which follow the target exam, their record with it, how late the journey to your locality runs and how many sessions you book a week. All fees appear before the demo, and our Kanpur home tuition fees post covers what to ask.

Requesting a physics shortlist

Send the class, board and main aim (school paper, JEE or NEET), which days coaching takes, your locality and a landmark, and the evenings left open. You get two or three physics tutors with fees and choose one to meet at a free demo; if the fit is wrong we arrange another, and swapping tutors later costs nothing. If nobody suitable can come at that hour, we suggest online or part-online lessons. Tutors who join go through an ID check; the Verified badge appears only after our team has reviewed the ID (how it works). NXTutors is based in Sector 66, Gurugram, and teaches online nationwide; the physics home tutor page covers other cities, and the maths and chemistry pages cover Kanpur's other senior subjects.

Physics Home Tutor in Kanpur: common questions

What does a physics home tutor in Kanpur charge?

Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Physics tutors set their own rates, and your shortlist lists each one before you choose a demo.

How is UP Board Class 12 physics split?

A 70-mark paper and a 30-mark practical, with 23 and 10 needed to pass. The paper has two parts of 35: Part A covers electrostatics, current, magnetism, induction and electromagnetic waves; Part B covers optics, worth 13, dual nature, atoms and nuclei, and electronic devices. The model paper has five sections.

My child is in a coaching batch in Kakadeo. What does a home tutor add?

Three things a batch rarely gives: time to solve the backlog of unfinished problems one by one, regular practice of full board-style derivations and diagrams, and a careful reading of every mock test. Set the home lesson around the batch timetable, since Kakadeo roads crowd when batches change.

Which CBSE Class 12 physics block carries the most marks?

Electricity and magnetism, at 33 of the 70 theory marks, covering electrostatics through to alternating current. Optics with electromagnetic waves follows with 18, dual nature with atoms and nuclei 12, and semiconductor electronics 7. Transistors and logic gates have left the syllabus, so ignore notes that still teach them.

Can a tutor help with the physics practical exam at home?

Yes, a good deal. The apparatus stays at school, but a home tutor can check each record entry for aim, diagram and observation table, go over precautions and sources of error, and run a mock viva. In CBSE the viva alone is worth 5 of the 30 practical marks.

How do physics tutors reach Rawatpur or Swaroop Nagar in the evening?

A tutor living along the Orange Line can ride it: Rawatpur station sits at Rawatpur Chauraha and links with the railway station, and Moti Jheel station serves Swaroop Nagar. Others come by two-wheeler. For inner-lane homes near the crossing, share the lane name and a landmark before the first lesson.

Is it better to start physics tuition in Class 11 or Class 12?

Class 11 is usually the better investment. Mechanics depends on vectors and graphs that return all through Class 12, and the UP Board sets Class 11 physics as its own 70-mark paper with a practical. Gaps fixed then cost less time than gaps found during the board year.

Do you find tutors for ISC or IB physics in Kanpur?

Yes, though there are fewer of them than CBSE or UP Board teachers, so mention the course and exam year at the start. IB physics has five themes, papers worth 80% and a student-designed investigation worth 20%. If no specialist can travel to you, online lessons are the fallback.
