What home tuition costs in Kanpur

Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Tutors set their own fee, and you see each tutor's fee before the demo class.

Monthly example: 3 one-hour classes a week ≈ ₹9,600–₹32,500 a month (12–13 classes at ₹800–₹2,500 an hour). An example, not a quote: your tutor's own fee decides the real figure.

Maths home tutor in Kanpur: match the examiner first, then the side of the city

In Kanpur, two Class 10 students on the same street can face very different maths papers: one fills in an OMR sheet for the UP Board High School exam, another writes five lettered CBSE sections, a third works through an ICSE paper. By Class 12, some are also juggling JEE coaching in Kakadeo. A teacher who suits one of these students may not suit the next, and the route matters as well, since a tutor based near Kalyanpur on GT Road reaches Civil Lines very differently from Swaroop Nagar. Give NXTutors the syllabus, the class and your locality; we reply with two or three maths tutors who fit all three, with each fee listed, and your opening lesson is a free demo.

Whose maths paper is your child preparing for?

The exam sections on this page carry two bylines. Ajay Vatsyayan is responsible for the IB, IGCSE and ISC maths guidance, and Abhinandan Tiwary for Class 10 maths on CBSE and ICSE; the NXTutors Academic Team covers the rest. Matching starts with the examining body, because it decides the book, the shape of a full-mark solution and the practice that pays.

UP Board High School: where the 70 written marks come from

The UP Board's formal name is Madhyamik Shiksha Parishad, Uttar Pradesh (UPMSP). For Class 10 maths in 2026-27, its syllabus puts 70 marks on the written paper and 30 on school-level assessment that includes a project, with 23 and 10 needed to pass. Unit by unit, the written 70 break down like this, with a habit worth building for each:

  • Algebra (18). More marks than any other unit; turn the wording into an equation before touching numbers.
  • Trigonometry (12). Heights-and-distances problems keep to 30°, 45° and 60° and at most two right triangles, so draw first, then pick the ratio.
  • Geometry, mensuration, statistics with probability (10 apiece). A reason for every proof line, units kept through combined solids, and the frequency table built neatly before any average.
  • Number systems; coordinate geometry (5 apiece). Short items, but the cheapest marks on the paper to lose through haste.

The model paper adds the practical picture. After a reading period, students have three hours. Section A is twenty one-mark objective items answered on an OMR sheet that tolerates no cutting, erasing or whitener; Section B is worth 50 across five questions, and each question states how many of its parts to do. So a good routine is timed OMR practice in which every choice is first fixed in rough work. Model papers are printed in Hindi, which is why we ask about the language of your child's answers.

Two more things on upmsp.edu.in help a tutor: a month-by-month syllabus for pacing, and links to the NCERT books. For 2026-27 the board has told schools to use only textbooks it has authorised, so drill from those. The UP Board tutors in Kanpur page covers other subjects.

UP Board Intermediate: one paper, so how should the year be spent?

From Class 11 the board drops the school share for maths: each year ends in a paper out of 100, and that paper is the whole result. The syllabus weights read as a timetable.

UP Board Intermediate maths weights, Class 11 beside Class 12
Class 11 areaMarksClass 12 areaMarks
Algebra35Calculus44
Sets and functions28Vectors and 3D geometry18
Coordinate geometry15Algebra15
Statistics and probability12Relations and functions10
Calculus10Probability / linear programming8 / 5

With 44 marks, calculus is nearly half of Class 12, and it leans on Class 11 functions, so a shaky Class 11 costs marks a year later. Nine compulsory questions make up the Class 12 model paper; each one names how many parts to attempt, and part values rise from one mark to eight. Long parts reward complete steps, so set one long question every week, written end to end and checked against the model paper. Confirm any change on upmsp.edu.in rather than trusting last year's notes.

CBSE Class 10: units, sections and the Standard or Basic choice

CBSE Class 10 maths 2026-27: board marks by unit and the slip a Kanpur tutor should hunt for
UnitMarksSlip to hunt for

Geometry15Proof steps with no stated reason
Trigonometry, with heights and distances12Ratios picked before the figure exists
Statistics and probability11Arithmetic errors inside grouped data
Mensuration10Units lost when solids are joined
Real numbers; coordinate geometry6 eachHaste on short items

Those 80 marks cover 14 NCERT chapters, and this session's paper design matches last session's. Section A packs 20 one-mark items (18 objective, 2 assertion–reason); B has five two-markers; C six three-markers; D four five-markers; E three four-mark case studies. No calculator is allowed, and π = 22/7 unless stated. Standard and Basic share chapters but not difficulty: roughly 54% of Standard marks and roughly 75% of Basic marks rest on recall and understanding. If Class 11 maths is on the cards, take Standard, before the school's cut-off.

Since 2026 there is a compulsory main board exam plus an optional second sitting in which up to three subjects, maths among them, can be improved; 2027 dates are awaited on cbse.gov.in. See the Class 10 maths preparation guide, the board-year plan and our Class 10 maths tutor page.

Senior maths next to a Kakadeo coaching batch

Kakadeo is known for its many entrance-exam coaching centres, so a Class 11 or 12 student here may already have a full evening of maths lectures. Another lecture at home adds little. What a home tutor can add is narrower: work through the sheet problems the batch had no time for, and protect the school board paper.

The exams want different things. CBSE Class 12 maths is 38 compulsory questions out of 80, with 35 of those marks in calculus, which therefore earns a big slice of each week from day one. In JEE Main 2026 Paper 1 (75 questions, 300 marks) maths had 25 questions, five of them needing a numerical answer, scored +4 if correct and −1 if not; the next pattern will be on jeemain.nta.nic.in. One coaching-sheet session plus one board session that closes with a fully written long answer is a sound week, and a UP Board Intermediate student can use the same rhythm with the 100-mark paper. Six Kanpur localities: what to arrange before the first maths lesson

Tutors generally arrive by two-wheeler, auto or car. Where the Orange Line runs, it helps: its first section links Kalyanpur, Gurudev Chauraha, Geeta Nagar, Rawatpur and Moti Jheel, and the underground stretch carries on through Chunniganj, Naveen Market, Bada Chauraha and Nayaganj to Kanpur Central. Every locality is listed on our Kanpur page.

North-west, between Mall Road and the Ganga

Civil Lines sits just north of Mall Road, the main business street, with homes from flats to independent houses. Bada Chauraha, the road's busiest crossing, jams at office hours, so an afternoon or early-evening lesson works better; underground stations at Bada Chauraha and Naveen Market suit a tutor from the Kanpur Central side. Swaroop Nagar mixes apartment buildings with residential plots near Moti Jheel station; give the guard the tutor's name once for regular visits. More in the North-West Kanpur zone guide.

The centre: coaching roads and Rawatpur Chauraha

Kakadeo has coaching centres and apartment buildings on the same roads, which crowd at batch changeover, so time the lesson around the batch and prefer a two-wheeler to a car. Rawatpur has its metro station at Rawatpur Chauraha, connected with the railway station on GT Road, so tutors can come from either direction along the line; for inner-lane homes, send a landmark by the crossing and the lane name. See the Central Kanpur zone guide.

West, along GT Road

Kalyanpur is big enough that the part matters: Indira Nagar, Navsheel Dham, Guba Gardens and Bara Sirohi are separate trips, so name yours. Its metro station is on the highway at Guba Gardens. Keshavpuram, a plotted state housing scheme, numbers its houses by block and plot; send both, as adjoining lanes look much the same. The West Kanpur zone guide has more.

Five signs of a good maths demo

Ask for this week's school chapter rather than a polished set piece, then look for:

  1. Questions before teaching. The tutor probes what your child knows before explaining.
  2. Mistakes sorted. Arithmetic slip, misreading or missing concept: each is named and treated differently.
  3. Board-shaped working. OMR care and full Section B steps for UPMSP, sectioned answers for CBSE, reasoned lines for ICSE.
  4. Language that fits. A Hindi-medium child hears the textbook's Hindi terms, not a translation.
  5. A visible plan. You leave knowing the next three sessions and the homework.

Not convinced? We line up a demo with the next shortlisted tutor, and a later change of tutor costs nothing. More pointers are in the demo class checklist for parents. Face-to-face lessons help younger children and proofs; online lessons help when the specialist lives across the city or coaching runs late, as the home tutor or online tutor article explains.

Maths tuition fees in Kanpur

Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Rates are each tutor's own and shift with the class and syllabus, experience of that paper, the journey at your hour and sessions per week. You see each fee on the shortlist before any demo; the Kanpur home tuition fees post lists questions worth asking.

Sending us a maths request

Include the class, the full syllabus name (UPMSP High School or Intermediate, CBSE Standard or Basic, ICSE, ISC, IB or IGCSE), the answer-sheet language, your locality and a landmark, the days and hours on offer, and a budget. Two or three matched maths tutors come back with fees, and you choose one for the free demo. Where nobody suitable can get to you at that time, we propose online or part-online lessons. Tutors who join go through an ID check; the Verified badge appears only after our team has reviewed the ID (about the ID check). Our office is in Sector 66, Gurugram, and online lessons run India-wide; the national maths home tutor page covers other cities, and the Kanpur home tuition guide walks through each zone.

Maths Home Tutor in Kanpur: common questions

How much does a maths home tutor in Kanpur cost?

Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Kanpur tutors name their own rates, and your shortlist shows every one before a demo is booked.

What does the UP Board Class 10 maths paper look like?

It is worth 70 marks, with 30 more from school assessment that includes a project; passing needs 23 on paper and 10 internally. Section A holds twenty one-mark objective items filled in on an OMR sheet that allows no erasing, and Section B carries 50 marks across five questions.

Which topic matters most in UP Board Class 12 maths?

Calculus, at 44 of the 100 marks, followed by vectors and three-dimensional geometry at 18. Intermediate maths has no school-assessed share, so the year-end paper decides everything. A tutor should finish Class 11 functions securely and give calculus most of the weekly time, with one long answer written out each week.

My child writes maths answers in Hindi. Can you find a matching tutor?

Yes. UP Board maths model papers are printed in Hindi, and a Kanpur student may well answer in Hindi. Mention the answer-sheet language in your request, and we shortlist tutors who explain with the same Hindi terms the textbook uses, while switching to English for a student who is moving medium.

Does a home tutor help if my child already attends coaching in Kakadeo?

It can, provided the tutor does not repeat the batch. A useful home session clears coaching-sheet problems left unsolved and keeps board answers in practice, since board papers reward full written steps that entrance tests do not. Set the lesson around the batch timetable, when Kakadeo roads are quieter.

Standard or Basic maths in CBSE Class 10: which should we pick?

Pick Standard whenever Class 11 maths is a realistic option. The chapters are identical, but roughly three-quarters of Basic marks test recall and understanding, against roughly 54% in Standard, which asks for more application. The school records the choice at registration, so decide well before its deadline.

Can tutors use the metro to reach Civil Lines or Swaroop Nagar?

Some do. Moti Jheel station on the Orange Line is close to Swaroop Nagar, and the underground stations at Bada Chauraha and Naveen Market serve Civil Lines. Others ride a two-wheeler or take an auto. An afternoon or early-evening slot avoids Bada Chauraha when office traffic is heavy.

Are ISC, IB or IGCSE maths tutors available in Kanpur?

Some are, though fewer than for UPMSP or CBSE, so state the course and exam year when you first write. If no specialist can come to your locality at your hour, we propose online lessons with one, sometimes alongside a nearby tutor who checks written homework each week.
