Tutors who join go through an ID check. Tell us the class, board and your area: we share two or three matched tutors, each with their fee, and the first class is a free demo, at home or online.
Book a free demo classAcross NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Tutors set their own fee, and you see each tutor's fee before the demo class.
Monthly example: 3 one-hour classes a week ≈ ₹9,600–₹32,500 a month (12–13 classes at ₹800–₹2,500 an hour). An example, not a quote: your tutor's own fee decides the real figure.

Kanpur is a wide city. The metro's Orange Line now links the western side to the centre and Kanpur Central, but a family in Naubasta, Chakeri or Ratan Lal Nagar still depends on roads, autos and two-wheelers, and a tutor living on the far side of the city may not keep coming through a whole school year. Online tuition removes that problem. It also opens the door to specialists who do not live in Kanpur at all. This guide from the NXTutors Academic Team sets out when an online tutor is the better choice for a Kanpur student and when a home tutor still wins, how online lessons are arranged through NXTutors, what your child needs at the desk, and how to mix home visits and online sessions with the same teacher.
The open Orange Line sections run from the western side through Kalyanpur, Gurudev Chauraha, Geeta Nagar and Rawatpur to Moti Jheel, and underground from Chunniganj through Naveen Market, Bada Chauraha and Nayaganj to Kanpur Central. None of those stations is in the southern belt or the eastern edge. A tutor from Kalyanpur teaching in Barra or Jajmau faces a long road trip every visit, and that is usually what ends the arrangement. Online, the distance stops mattering.
An ISC elective, an IB or IGCSE paper, JEE Advanced-level problem solving or a particular UP Board commerce subject: for each, the number of suitable tutors in any one part of Kanpur is small. Online opens the search to the whole country. Our ICSE and ISC and UP Board pages for Kanpur explain what a specialist should know.
Kakadeo is known for entrance-exam coaching, and a Class 11 or 12 student travelling to a batch there and back has little room left in the evening. A short online session late in the evening is realistic; a tutor arriving at that hour usually is not. See JEE and NEET tutors in Kanpur for how sessions fit around a batch.
In several southern localities the market roads are busiest in the evening, and on the eastern side the highway is busiest during working hours. When the only slot your child has falls in those hours, online keeps the lesson on time.
None of these is permanent. A child can move online once habits are settled, and a student new to a board can switch after the first month or two.
| Situation | Usually suits | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Primary child with a tutor in the same locality | Home | Close supervision and a short trip for the tutor |
| Class 9 or 10 on the UP Board, CBSE or ICSE, a focused student | Online or both | A wider choice of board specialists, no evening travel |
| Class 11 or 12 with a coaching batch across the city | Online on batch days, a home session on a free day | Late evenings work on a screen; the free day suits long practice |
| Southern belt or eastern edge, tutor from the other side of the city | Online, or one home visit a week | Removes the longest trips without losing contact |
| Specialist paper: ISC elective, IB, IGCSE | Online | Specialists are few in any one part of the city |
| Locality with few tutors living inside it, such as Chakeri | Home for one subject, online for others | Uses the nearby tutor where they are strongest |
Our home tutor or online tutor comparison goes through the trade-offs in detail.
You may see online tutors even when you asked for home tuition. Locality pages list tutors in the area first, then the zone, then the city, then online tutors, and each card says where the tutor is based. An online name on the list usually means the specialist you need does not live within easy reach. Tutors who join go through an ID check; the Verified badge appears only after our team has reviewed the ID. It is not a police or background check, so judge the teaching yourself in the demo.
Equipment matters most where there is working to show. The tutor must see the pen move, not wait for a photo of the finished answer.
Test all of this during the free demo. Our article on online and offline tutoring has more practical advice.
Many Kanpur students think in Hindi and write their exams in English, or study in Hindi medium under the UP Board. Online lessons make language mismatches easier to miss, because the tutor cannot see a confused face as clearly. Tell us the medium your child writes in, ask the tutor at the demo to explain one technical term in both languages, and check afterwards whether your child followed. For board answers, insist that some practice is written by hand and shown to the camera, not typed: exam papers are handwritten, and handwriting speed and layout need practice too.
In the demo and the first few classes, watch for these signs: your child speaks and writes more than the tutor; mistakes are caught in the middle of a step, with a question rather than a correction; both cameras stay on; the school's own tests or past papers are used, not generic worksheets; and the lesson ends with a short written note of what was done and what to practise. A tutor who reads from slides for the whole lesson is giving a talk, not tuition. Our demo class checklist lists further questions.
Keeping one teacher across both formats matters more than the format itself.
Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Tutors set their own fee for online and home lessons, and you see it before the demo. Class, board, subject and the tutor's experience usually matter more than the format. Ask each tutor whether their online and home fees differ. See the pricing guide and home tuition fees in Kanpur.
Tell us the class, board, subjects and medium, whether you want online only or a mix with home visits, your locality if visits are part of it, and the evenings that work. To see who teaches near you first, open a locality page such as Kidwai Nagar, Naubasta, Ratan Lal Nagar, Yashoda Nagar, Chakeri or Shyam Nagar; each lists local tutors first and then online options. The south Kanpur and east Kanpur zone guides describe travel on each side.

When the right tutor lives on the far side of the city, when your locality has no open metro station and few tutors nearby, when your child needs a narrow specialist such as an ISC elective or IGCSE, or when a coaching batch leaves only late evenings. Online lets you choose on teaching alone.
Choose Online in the switch under the home-page search, or open Find Tutors set to online and narrow by subject, board and class. Distance then stops counting, so tutors from any city can appear. Choosing Either lets the list mix a nearby home tutor with online tutors elsewhere.
Yes. Choose online in the mode field of the demo request and add the class, board and the times that suit you. We send two or three tutors with their fees, and the first class with the one you pick is a free lesson on screen. The tutor and family agree the video tool.
A laptop or tablet, a headset with a microphone and a way for the tutor to watch the notebook live, such as a phone on a stand pointing at the page or a stylus tablet. Add a shared whiteboard, a table in a shared room, and mobile data in case the connection fails.
Yes. A common pattern is one home visit a week for new chapters and written practice, with online sessions on other days for doubts and homework. Coaching students can keep visits for days without a batch. Families in Barra, Naubasta or Chakeri can use this to avoid the longest trips.
It can, if the tutor teaches in the medium your child writes the exam in. Tell us the medium when you send a request, ask the tutor at the demo to explain one technical term in both languages, and keep some answers handwritten and shown to the camera, since board papers are written by hand.
Not always. Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Tutors set their own fees, so ask each one whether the online fee differs.
