Book a free demo classAcross NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Tutors set their own fee, and you see each tutor's fee before the demo class.
Monthly example: 3 one-hour classes a week ≈ ₹9,600–₹32,500 a month (12–13 classes at ₹800–₹2,500 an hour). An example, not a quote: your tutor's own fee decides the real figure.

English sits quietly behind every other subject. A child who reads slowly struggles with science questions, and a student who thinks in Hindi but writes in English can lose marks on sentence order even when the idea is right. In Bhilai, English papers are set by the Chhattisgarh board, CBSE or CISCE, and each splits its marks between reading, writing, grammar and literature in its own way. Some families want board marks; others want a child who can speak without freezing. Tell us the board, the class, the skill that needs work and your sector or colony, and NXTutors sends two or three English tutors who fit, each with a fee you see first. The first class is a free demo.
Most Bhilai students write English for the Chhattisgarh board (CGBSE) or CBSE; a smaller group studies ICSE and ISC under CISCE, IGCSE or the IB. The subject's name is the same everywhere, but the paper behind it is not.
| Board | Class 10 | Class 12 | Books to bring |
|---|---|---|---|
| CGBSE | Written paper of 75 and a project of 25, passed separately (25 and 8) | 80 written and 20 internal, with pass marks of 26 and 7 | Flight in Classes 9 and 10; Hornbill and Snapshots in Class 11 |
| CBSE | Language and Literature: board paper of 80, school assessment of 20 | English Core: 80 on paper, while 20 cover listening, speaking and a project | NCERT readers; CBSE's own sample papers and their marking schemes |
| CISCE | ICSE: separate language and literature papers of 80 each, with internal assessment | ISC: two papers of 80, project work attached to each | Set texts, plus the council's specimen papers |
| Cambridge, IB | IGCSE English as a first language (0500) or second language (0510/0511) | IB Language A: analysing unseen texts, a comparative essay, an oral | Past papers matching the school's chosen entry |
The Chhattisgarh Board of Secondary Education, with its head office in Raipur, sets English in the High School examination at the end of Class 10 and the Higher Secondary examination at the end of Class 12. In Classes 9 and 10 English is one of six subjects: a written paper of 75 (pass mark 25) and a project of 25 (pass mark 8), taught from the board's textbook Flight in both years.
In Classes 11 and 12 a student studies two languages out of Hindi, English and a third language, and one of the two must be Hindi or English. A student who keeps English writes a paper of 80 with 20 internal marks, needing 26 and 7 to pass. In Class 11 the books are Hornbill and Snapshots, the same readers CBSE uses that year, so revision guides written for either board's Class 11 often fit.
A good CGBSE English tutor teaches from Flight or the senior readers, uses the board's model papers and question bank from cgbse.nic.in, and checks that answers are written in full English sentences rather than translated phrase by phrase from Hindi. Our Chhattisgarh board tutors in Bhilai page covers the rest of the board.
The board's 2026-27 plan gives 20 of the 25 to the project record and a questionnaire on one project, and 5 to a viva. The record needs at least three projects from those the textbook suggests, written up with the problem, aim, materials, method, reasoning, conclusion and difficulties met, and one of them must be about the environment. For English, that viva is also speaking practice. A tutor should never write the project, but can help a student choose a manageable topic, check that every part of the write-up is there, and rehearse the viva until the student can talk about the work in their own words.
CBSE's two Class 10 readers are First Flight and Footprints Without Feet. In the 2026-27 board paper, literature from those books is worth 40 of the 80 marks, reading 20, grammar 10 and writing 10. The reading section pairs a discursive passage with a factual, case-based one that includes a chart or data. Writing asks for a formal letter (5) and an analytical paragraph built on a graph, map or chart (5). A tutor can turn those numbers into a weekly routine:
Of the 20 school marks, 5 are for listening and speaking. Since literature is half the written paper, marked literature answers usually repay the time better than extra grammar sheets.
A child moving to English medium, or preparing for an English-language entrance exam after Hindi-medium schooling, meets new words and new content at once. The tutor should start bilingual and end in English:
It can, and it helps exam marks too: CBSE, ICSE and ISC assess listening and speaking, and the CGBSE project ends in a viva. Lessons can close with the student retelling the day's passage aloud, building over the weeks to short talks and interview-style questions. When the goal is speaking itself (a job interview, a group discussion, a presentation), mention it when you write to us, since a different kind of tutor may suit. Our spoken English guide for students has practical ideas.
At this age the goal is confident, accurate reading, not exam drill. Warning signs include guessing a word from its first letter, losing the place on the page, or steering clear of books. Little and often beats one long session: decoding new words, reading aloud with gentle correction, and telling the story back in the child's own way. In homes where English is seldom spoken, a tutor can chat in English about pictures and short stories, dropping into Hindi only to rescue a stuck moment. Ask for a tutor with primary-class experience.
CBSE's Class 11 English Core paper gives reading 26 marks, grammar and creative writing 23, and literature 31, using Hornbill and Snapshots; in Class 12 the readers are Flamingo and Vistas. ISC divides the subject into a literature paper and a language paper covering composition, directed writing and a proposal. For IGCSE, check first which English entry the school has made; IB Language A students build towards analysis of unseen texts and an individual oral. Specialists for these courses are scarcer locally, so an online tutor is often the realistic answer. Each course is covered in more depth in the national English home tutor guide.
English lessons work well at a fixed weekly time, which is easier when the tutor lives nearby. Every locality is listed on the Bhilai home tuition page.
| Locality | Address to give | Plan for |
|---|---|---|
| Sectors 4 and 5 | Sector, street and quarter, and which end of the street | Ask how the tutor will set reading work for days they cannot come |
| Sector 10 | Sector, street and quarter, then the nearest colony such as Talpur or Pragati Nagar | A simple monthly record of chapters done and test marks, shared with you |
| Supela | Lane or colony, house number and the turning from the G. E. Road | A slot right after school or later in the evening, as the main road stays lively |
| Nehru Nagar | Nehru Nagar or Nehru Nagar East, then block or lane and house number | English added alongside maths and science from Class 10 if needed |
| Smriti Nagar | Block or lane, house number, the turning from Junwani Road; floor for a flat | One weekday kept free of tuition |
| Kohka | Housing board colony or the older part, then block and house number | Separate sessions if a younger and an older child both need help |
The zone guides for the township sectors, Supela and Nehru Nagar and Smriti Nagar and Kohka add local tips, and the Bhilai home tuition guide compares every part of the city. English also teaches well online from about Class 3 upward, as long as the tutor sees the written work first; see online tuition in Bhilai.

Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Each tutor decides their own rate. Useful questions: which board's English have you taught recently, how will you correct writing done between visits, and how many lessons a week would you advise? You see every fee before the demo; the Bhilai home tuition fees guide explains more.
Tell us the class and board, the area of English that concerns you most (reading, writing, grammar, literature or speaking), whether your child is more comfortable in Hindi or English, your sector or colony with a landmark, and the free days and times. A shortlist of two or three English tutors comes back with fees. Tutors who join go through an ID check; the Verified badge appears only after the ID check is complete (how the ID check works). Bhilai families can also look at our maths and science pages, and families in the state capital at English tutors in Raipur. If you teach English in Bhilai, current requests are on Bhilai tuition jobs.
Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. English tutors in Bhilai set their own rates. Ask which board's English each has taught recently, how they will correct writing done between visits, and how many lessons a week they would advise.
A Bhilai family should send the class, the board and the area of English that worries them most. Add the language the child is comfortable in, the sector or colony with a landmark, and free times. We reply with two or three English tutors and their fees, and the first class is a free demo.
CGBSE Class 10 English is marked as a written paper of 75 and a project of 25, and a Bhilai student must pass each part, with 25 and 8. The board teaches English from its textbook Flight in Classes 9 and 10, so a tutor should work from that book and the board's model papers.
English is not automatically compulsory on the Chhattisgarh board in Classes 11 and 12. Students take two languages out of Hindi, English and a third language, and one of the two must be Hindi or English. A student who keeps English writes a paper of 80 with 20 internal marks.
CGBSE Class 11 students in Bhilai use Hornbill and Snapshots for English, the same readers CBSE uses in Class 11. That means many revision materials written for either board's Class 11 fit, though a tutor should still practise with the Chhattisgarh board's own model papers and question bank.
A tutor can help with the CGBSE English project by guiding topic choice, checking that each write-up has every part, and rehearsing the viva, but never by writing it. The record of at least three projects plus a questionnaire is worth 20 marks, the viva 5, and one project must be environmental.
For Bhilai students, the 80 CBSE Class 10 English board marks divide into literature 40, reading 20, grammar 10 and writing 10. Writing is split between a formal letter and an analytical paragraph. The school's 20 internal marks include 5 for listening and speaking, so literature answers deserve weekly marked practice.
An English tutor helps a Bhilai child changing medium by starting bilingual and ending in English. Two-way translation shows where tense and word order break, a daily reading log builds vocabulary, stock openings make answers easier to begin, and an agreed switch date moves lessons fully into English.
In Sector 10, give sector, street and quarter number, then name the colony you are closest to, such as Talpur or Pragati Nagar. In Smriti Nagar, give the block or lane, house number and turning from Junwani Road, plus the floor and entrance name if you live in a flat.
A Bhilai English tutor can build spoken confidence alongside board work, since CBSE, ICSE and ISC assess listening and speaking and the CGBSE project ends in a viva. Lessons can close with a spoken retelling and grow into short talks. Mention interview or presentation goals in your request.
