Tutors who join go through an ID check. Tell us the class, board and your area: we share two or three matched tutors, each with their fee, and the first class is a free demo, at home or online.
Book a free demo classAcross NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Tutors set their own fee, and you see each tutor's fee before the demo class.
Monthly example: 3 one-hour classes a week ≈ ₹9,600–₹32,500 a month (12–13 classes at ₹800–₹2,500 an hour). An example, not a quote: your tutor's own fee decides the real figure.

Ask around any Bhilai colony and you will hear two boards named again and again: the Chhattisgarh board and CBSE. Parents on the CBSE side usually want a tutor for one of three reasons. A younger child is slipping in maths and the gaps need finding. A Class 9 or 10 student is losing marks on the case-based questions CBSE now sets. Or a senior student is spending evenings on entrance practice and the written board answers are getting thin. This guide sets out how CBSE assesses each stage, what the 2026–27 curriculum changed, how it compares with the state board, what a well-run session contains, and how tutors travel to six Bhilai localities. Abhinandan Tiwary, who teaches Class 10 CBSE and ICSE maths, wrote the maths advice, and Aaditya Kashyap, who teaches CBSE and ICSE science, wrote the science advice.
Most Bhilai schools are affiliated to one of these two boards. We have no dependable figures on how students split between them, so we do not quote any. For tuition, the useful question is how the papers differ, because plenty of children change board after Class 8 or after Class 10.
| Point | CBSE | CGBSE, 2026-27 scheme |
|---|---|---|
| Split of marks in main subjects | 80 in the board paper, 20 given by the school | 75 written, 25 for practical or project work |
| Books | NCERT titles | Printed by the state's textbook corporation in Raipur; the English reader is called "Flight" |
| How papers are built | Around half the marks on competency questions | A blueprint per subject fixing marks by chapter and question type |
| Second chance | A second board exam to improve up to three subjects | A second main exam, which the board's site also calls the avsar exam |
English shows the gap clearly. In the CGBSE Class 10 English blueprint, only 19 of the 75 written marks come from the reader; grammar carries 15 and reading and writing tasks carry 41, among them data analysis, a notice, a report, a letter and an essay. A child arriving from CBSE has to learn those formats, not only a new book. Before hiring someone for a board switch, ask them to show you that they know both papers. The Chhattisgarh Board home tutor in Bhilai page explains the state board fully.
| Stage | Exam set by | Where children stumble | What the tutor does |
|---|---|---|---|
| Classes 6–8 | School | Fractions, signed numbers, reading a science paragraph slowly | Mends old gaps; insists on written working |
| Class 9 | School; annual paper of 80 with 20 internal | Algebra and science step up together | Short chapter tests; helps decide on the Advanced paper |
| Class 10 | CBSE; 80 plus 20 from school | Case-based items; incomplete answers | Current sample papers, marked to the official scheme |
| Class 11 | School | The jump in physics, chemistry and maths | Builds the base the board year needs |
| Class 12 | CBSE; theory with practical or internal marks | Revising everything while other pressures grow | One calendar covering school and entrance work |
The pass mark in each Class 10 subject is 33%. When algebra "suddenly" goes wrong in Class 9, Abhinandan nearly always finds the cause further back, in fractions or first equations. Tuition for a younger child should therefore repair before it races.
All Class 9 students now write one common 80-mark maths paper and one common science paper. Alongside these, a student can opt for an Advanced paper of 25 marks in maths, in science, in both or in neither. It consists only of higher-order questions on additional content, and its marks are kept out of the aggregate, although a score of 50% or above is noted on the marksheet. Maths is also leaving the Basic and Standard split behind; the 2026–27 Class 10 batch is the final one to sit it. Abhinandan's view is simple: the Advanced paper is for a child who already likes maths, not a way to fix a weak one.
In Class 10 there are now two board examinations. The first is compulsory. After passing, a student may sit the second to try for better marks in no more than three subjects from science, mathematics, social science and the languages. Prepare as though the first sitting is the only one; the second exists for a bad day, not as a plan.
| Subjects and codes | Theory | Other component |
|---|---|---|
| Physics 042, Chemistry 043, Biology 044 | 70 | 30 for practicals |
| Mathematics 041, or Applied Mathematics 241 in its place | 80 | 20 internal |
| Accountancy 055, Business Studies 054, Economics 030 | 80 | 20 internal |
The Class 12 board paper draws on the whole Class 12 syllabus, and CBSE has indicated more questions that apply ideas to real settings. Each year's design is published with its sample paper, so the tutor's practice set should be this year's. Useful reading for the board year: Class 12 physics strategies, organic and inorganic chemistry, and Class 12 calculus and algebra.
Close to half of a CBSE secondary paper now tests competency. The student meets a short passage, a table of data or an everyday scene, and the questions check whether an idea can be put to work. Children who have learnt the chapter thoroughly still lose marks here, because they start writing before they have finished reading. Aaditya builds one such passage into every science lesson: the student marks the given facts, names the concept being tested, and only then answers. In maths, the matching habit is to write the equation from the words first and calculate second. Use CBSE sample papers and NCERT exemplar problems for this; most generic worksheets miss the style.
JEE and NEET draw on NCERT content, so the CBSE course and entrance preparation support each other. Trouble shows up in Class 12 answer sheets: after a long run of objective practice, students skip steps, drop units and leave diagrams unlabelled. A tutor working with an entrance student should list the chapters that were hurried, come back to them with board-style questions, set at least one complete written answer per lesson, and keep the practical file current. The entrance side is covered on our JEE and NEET pages for Bhilai.
In Classes 9 and 10, two moderate lessons a week tend to do more than a single long Sunday sitting. Each lesson can follow the same three steps. Start with the latest school test and trace each error back to the NCERT explanation. Move on to one new idea: textbook exercises first, then an exemplar or case-based item on that idea. Finish with one answer written out in full, which the tutor marks for steps, units, diagrams and neatness. Many Bhilai children think in Hindi and write in English; the tutor can explain in Hindi and still hold the written answer to clear English. A short note each month, listing chapters done, marks and repeated slips, keeps parents informed.
Our national CBSE board hub covers the board itself, and the Class 10 maths preparation post suggests a chapter order for the board year.
For timing advice, open the Vaishali Nagar and Kurud, Smriti Nagar and Kohka and Risali and Maitri Kunj zone pages; the Bhilai home tuition guide covers every zone.
Keep the tutor at home for young children, for any student who wanders off on a screen, and for subjects judged line by line: maths, physics problems, balanced equations and accountancy formats. Go online for a quick doubt session on a heavy school day, for a senior subject whose specialist lives on the far side of the city, or when a family near Bhilai-3 or Charoda finds the right teacher lives near the township or Supela. Mixing both with one tutor works well. Read our online tuition in Bhilai page and the comparison of home and online tutors.
We send two or three matched tutors, each with the fee shown upfront; the first class is free, and changing tutor later is free as well. Tutors who join go through an ID check; the Verified badge appears only after the ID check is complete (about our checks).
Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. A Bhilai CBSE fee moves mainly with the class, how many subjects are covered, how often the tutor comes and how far they travel. The pricing guide and our post on home tuition fees in Bhilai go into detail.

A CBSE Class 10 main subject is 80 board marks plus 20 from the school, with about half the paper on competency questions. A CGBSE subject is 75 written plus 25 practical or project marks, built to a published blueprint. A tutor should know both before teaching a child who switches.
A child moving from CBSE to CGBSE English should practise the writing tasks first, since they carry 41 of the 75 written marks in the Class 10 blueprint. Data analysis, notices, reports, letters and an essay all appear there, while the reader carries 19 and grammar 15.
Take the CBSE Advanced paper only if your child already enjoys the subject. It is a 25-mark paper of higher-order questions in maths, science or both, kept outside the aggregate, with a score of 50% or more noted on the marksheet. It is not a remedy for weakness.
The second CBSE Class 10 board exam is optional and follows a compulsory first one. A student who has passed may sit it to improve marks in up to three of science, mathematics, social science and the languages. Prepare for the first as if it were the only sitting.
A tutor helps with CBSE case-based questions mainly by teaching the reading before the solving. In science, the student marks the given facts and names the concept before answering; in maths, the words become an equation first. CBSE sample papers and NCERT exemplar problems are the right practice material.
For CBSE tutors visiting Vaishali Nagar, give the block and say whether you are on the Supela or Kurud side. In Junwani, write "Junwani, Bhilai" with the turning from Junwani Road. In Charoda, name your colony and mention Padum Nagar or Bhilai-3 if close.
A Class 12 CBSE student protects board marks by writing at least one full answer in every tutor session. After months of objective practice, steps, units and labelled diagrams slip. The tutor should revisit hurried chapters with board-style questions and keep the practical file current.
Online CBSE tuition often suits families near Bhilai-3 or Charoda when the right senior-subject specialist lives near the township or Supela. Keep younger children and line-by-line subjects such as maths and accountancy at home where you can, and mix both formats with one tutor if possible.
