Tutors who join go through an ID check. Tell us the class, board and your area: we share two or three matched tutors, each with their fee, and the first class is a free demo, at home or online.
Book a free demo classAcross NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Tutors set their own fee, and you see each tutor's fee before the demo class.
Monthly example: 3 one-hour classes a week ≈ ₹9,600–₹32,500 a month (12–13 classes at ₹800–₹2,500 an hour). An example, not a quote: your tutor's own fee decides the real figure.

Wanting a woman to teach your daughter, your son or a very young child is an ordinary preference, and you do not need to explain it. In Chennai the harder question is practical: can she get to your street, at your hour, week after week? The answer depends on which rail line runs near you, whether your area is still waiting for its metro, and how your building or community lets visitors in. Read it alongside our national female home tutor guide; what follows is the Chennai layer: setting the preference in a search, the differences between our eight zones, her route and your gate, and the options when the strongest match lives a long way off.
Type the request the way you would say it, and include a word such as female, lady or madam: lady chemistry tutor State Board Class 12, for example. Enter your locality, say Velachery or Anna Nagar West, in the Location box and leave the switch on Home tutor. Our search treats such a word as a filter on the gender every tutor picked on her profile, and lists matching tutors with the nearest first.
If you prefer menus, open Find Tutors with Chennai, home and female already set, then add the subject and your area. More filters lets you add board, class, a maximum fee, minimum experience or rating. Every filter is applied strictly, so if the list comes back empty, remove one at a time. The fee cap or the board is more often the cause than gender.
Booking a demo sends us a WhatsApp message carrying the subject, board, class, home or online, location and the time you prefer; there is no box for gender. Put the preference in the Message box, for example: "Woman tutor, firm. Madipakkam, near the lake. Mon/Wed after 5." With firm or flexible in the note, the team knows whether to search a bigger area, try another hour or add other tutors when the local pool is small.
Our zones are drawn for travel. Any extra condition, gender included, shortens a list, so a preference is easiest to keep where tutors can arrive from several directions by rail, and needs more planning where everyone comes by road.
| Zone | How tutors arrive | Tip for your request |
|---|---|---|
| Adyar, Besant Nagar & Mylapore | MRTS down the eastern side, Teynampet on the Blue Line | Name your nearest MRTS station; on Mylapore festival days, move the lesson to the morning |
| T Nagar, Nungambakkam & Kodambakkam | South Line trains, two Blue Line stops in Saidapet | A tutor who comes by train usually keeps better time here than one who drives |
| Velachery, Guindy & Tambaram | Blue Line, MRTS and suburban trains, but no rail in Pallikaranai or Medavakkam | For the rail-less pockets, ask for a tutor from your own or the next locality |
| OMR & ECR | Mostly two-wheeler, bus or cab | Add her as a regular visitor in your community's app before the demo |
| Anna Nagar, Kilpauk & Aminjikarai | Underground Green Line stations across the belt | Metro plus a short walk makes this one of the easier zones for regular visits |
| Vadapalani, KK Nagar & Porur | Green Line in the east; buses along Arcot Road further west | West of Vadapalani, prefer a tutor who lives along Arcot Road or in Porur |
| Mogappair, Ambattur & Avadi | Arakkonam-line local trains; buses for Mogappair | In defence areas or gated estates, arrange entry before her first visit |
| Perambur, Kolathur & North Chennai | Suburban trains and the northern Blue Line | Send a landmark and door number; old lanes can look alike to a newcomer |
Our regional guides go further for south Chennai and for west and north Chennai.
Most tutors in Chennai travel by suburban train, MRTS, metro, bus or two-wheeler, and many teach in more than one home in an evening. A woman tutor will also be thinking about her journey back. A few habits keep the arrangement comfortable for both sides:
Entry in Chennai ranges from a doorstep knock at an independent house in Ashok Nagar or Kolathur to a watchman's register in a small block, and on the OMR to a community app where a resident must approve each visitor. Sorting this out before the demo saves the first quarter of an hour and keeps a record of each visit.
Whether she sits the SSLC, the State Board plus-two papers, or a CBSE or ICSE board, start the request with the board, the medium of the paper and each subject by name; the gender preference comes second. For a board year, accept a tutor from a little further along your rail line if she has taught that paper before. Our pages for Tamil Nadu Board, CBSE and ICSE and ISC tutors in Chennai describe what each board asks for.
Young children need someone close by who can come three times a week for shorter sessions, and deep subject knowledge matters less than patience. Lots of tutors take the younger classes, so adding the female filter rarely leaves you short of names at this level. Our Class 1 to 5 tutors in Chennai page has more on this age group.
A single locality seldom has more than a handful of specialists in one programme. Combine that with a gender preference and a short-commute rule, and the list can disappear. Keep the preference, drop the commute: a mixed or online arrangement solves it. The IB and IGCSE tutor pages for Chennai list what to ask such a specialist.
Occasionally the honest answer is that no woman tutor for your subject can come to you at the hour you need. In that case we say so, instead of filling the slot with a poorer fit. Three ways round it:
A home search for Chennai may also include tutors based elsewhere who teach online, when local supply is thin; the card always shows her base city, so nothing is hidden.
Every tutor who joins confirms a phone number or email address with a one-time code and uploads a government photo ID, and our team looks at that ID before her profile is switched on. Real tutors who clear it show a Verified badge. The check confirms identity only: it is not a police or background check and tells you nothing about how she teaches. Read the full process on how we verify tutors. Sample profiles are clearly labelled, are never verified, and cannot be booked.
The free demo is where you judge the teaching. Sit nearby, see whether your child is the one writing and talking, and ask what she would start with. Later, ask your child on their own whether they would like her to return. If the answer is no, we line up the next name on your shortlist, and switching at any later point is free too. Our parents' checklist for demo classes suggests further questions.
A tutor's gender has nothing to do with the fee; every tutor fixes her or his own. Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. In Chennai a long road trip at a busy hour tends to push a quote up, and a tutor from your own neighbourhood may ask less. Fees appear on the shortlist before you book the demo. For planning, see the Chennai tuition fees guide and the general pricing guide.
| Detail | What it lets us do |
|---|---|
| Your locality, the nearest MRTS, metro or suburban station, and a landmark | Judge who can actually get to you by rail or a short ride |
| Class, board, medium and each subject | Build the shortlist on the right paper before applying the preference |
| Two or three days and a time band, for example "from 4.30" | Find someone free in that band rather than at one fixed minute |
| Whether a woman tutor is essential or preferred | Decide between a wider area, a hybrid plan or a mixed shortlist |
| Home, online or open to both | Offer a weekend visit with online lessons in between |
| Your gate arrangement | Brief her on the doorstep, watchman, security desk or community app before day one |
Before switching on the gender filter, it helps to look at who already teaches in your area; each locality page orders tutors by distance. Useful starting points are Pallikaranai, beside its marsh and still without a station; Kelambakkam at the southern end of the OMR; Valasaravakkam on Arcot Road; Saidapet, with suburban and metro stations; Arumbakkam on the Green Line; and Tondiarpet in the north.
When you are ready, send the class, board and subjects, your locality and nearest station, the hours that work and whether the preference is essential or preferred. Two or three suitable tutors come back to you; one of them takes a free demo, and moving to another later costs nothing. Go straight to female home tutors in Chennai, request a free demo class, or browse all eight zones on the Chennai home tutors page. Women teachers looking for students in the city can start at Chennai tuition jobs.
Type your need with a word such as female, lady or madam, for example "lady maths tutor Class 10", add your locality in the Location box and keep Home tutor selected. The search filters on the gender tutors chose on their profiles. Find Tutors also has a Tutor gender option under More filters.
In the Message box. The demo form sends subject, board, class, home or online, location and preferred time to our team on WhatsApp but has no gender field. Write something like "Woman tutor, firm" or "preferred but flexible", so we know whether to widen the area, change the hour or include other tutors.
We cannot promise that. Any extra condition shortens a list, and areas without rail, such as Pallikaranai, Medavakkam and much of the OMR, depend on tutors who come by road. Where nearby options are thin, a weekly home visit plus online lessons, or a fully online woman tutor, keeps the preference.
Share her full name and number with your watchman or security, send the address with a landmark and map pin, and on the OMR add her as a visitor in the community app if a resident must approve each guest. Hold lessons in a shared room and be at home for the demo.
No. Tutors who join go through an ID check: a one-time code for phone or email and a government photo ID that our team reviews before the profile is marked Verified. Real tutors who pass carry a Verified badge. It is not a police or background check, so judge the teaching yourself at the demo.
Gender does not set fees; each tutor sets her or his own. Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour, with senior classes, IB and IGCSE, and entrance work toward the upper end. A long trip at a busy hour can raise a quote.
Yes. Switch the search to Online and distance stops counting, so you can choose from women tutors across India. Online suits senior students and specialist subjects. Keep the device in a shared room, send lesson links to a parent's number, and keep cameras on for both sides.
Tell us the class, board and your area. We share two or three matched tutors, and the first class is a free demo.
