What home tuition costs in Cuttack

Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Tutors set their own fee, and you see each tutor's fee before the demo class.

Monthly example: 3 one-hour classes a week ≈ ₹9,600–₹32,500 a month (12–13 classes at ₹800–₹2,500 an hour). An example, not a quote: your tutor's own fee decides the real figure.

Maths home tutor in Cuttack: the right board, the right lane, and a tutor who checks every step

In Cuttack, a maths notebook can belong to one of several worlds. An Odia-medium child writes the HSC paper set by the Board of Secondary Education, Odisha, whose main office is in the city itself. An English-medium child may sit CBSE or ICSE, and a senior student may be on the state council's +2 Science course with an entrance exam in view. The tutor who helps most is the one who knows which examiner will read the page, and who can reach your sahi, vihar or CDA sector at an hour that holds all term. Tell NXTutors the class, the board and the locality, and a shortlist of two or three maths tutors comes back with every fee on it; the opening lesson with the one you pick costs nothing.

Who will mark your child's maths paper?

Two named authors are responsible for the exam guidance on this page. Ajay Vatsyayan wrote the IB, IGCSE and ISC parts, and Abhinandan Tiwary the Class 10 parts for CBSE and ICSE. The Odisha board material comes from the boards' own websites. Find your child's row first; the last column is a fair opening question for any tutor.

What should a tutor bring to HSC maths under BSE Odisha?

The Board of Secondary Education, Odisha conducts the Annual HSC Examination at the end of Class 10, followed by a supplementary HSC examination for students who need another attempt. It also publishes the Class 9 and Class 10 textbooks, and before the annual exam each school uploads its internal assessment marks to the board. For a family in Cuttack this means three practical things. The board's own books are the starting point for practice. The school's internal marks are earned through the year, not in one sitting. And the board's notices come straight from its website, so dates and rules should be read there rather than from forwarded messages.

We could not confirm a published paper layout, so none is given here; bseodisha.ac.in carries the current scheme. Judge a tutor on four points instead:

  • Language of teaching. A child who learned maths in Odia may need ideas explained in Odia for a while, then practised in the words the paper uses. Tell us the medium your child writes in.
  • Book before guidebook. Exercises from the board's textbook come first, then the school's tests; material prepared for another board comes last.
  • Every step on paper. Examiners credit working they can follow, so from Class 8 each line of a solution should show one move.
  • An eye on +2. If the plan is +2 Science, algebra, geometry and trigonometry must be secure by Class 10, not just good enough to pass.

Our Odisha board tutors in Cuttack page covers the board's other subjects.

CBSE Class 10 maths: how should the weeks follow the marks?

For 2026-27, CBSE keeps last session's design: fourteen NCERT chapters in seven units, 80 marks on the board paper and 20 awarded by the school. Weekly tuition time should roughly track those weights.

CBSE Class 10 maths, 2026-27: units and marks, with a sign at home that the unit needs more time
UnitMarksSign it needs more time
Algebra: polynomials, linear pairs, quadratics, arithmetic progressions20Equations are solved, but word problems are left blank
Geometry: triangles and circles15A proof lists statements without the reason for each
Trigonometry, with heights and distances12A ratio is picked before the figure is drawn
Statistics and probability11The method is right but a column total is wrong
Mensuration10Units go missing in a combined-solid question
Real numbers; coordinate geometry6 + 6Short questions rushed and marks dropped

Both levels, Standard and Basic, are built on one chapter list. The gap is in the questions: about 54% of a Standard paper asks a child to recall or explain, while Basic puts about 75% there. Anyone who might want maths in Class 11 is safer on Standard, and since schools collect the choice by a fixed date, settle it early in Class 10.

How is the CBSE Class 10 paper laid out, and is there a second attempt?

Five lettered sections make up the paper. A opens with twenty one-mark items, of which eighteen are multiple-choice and two pair an assertion with a reason; B has five worth two marks; C six worth three; D four long answers worth five; and E closes with three four-mark case studies. No calculator is permitted, and π is taken as 22/7 when no other value is printed.

After the main exam, which everyone sits, CBSE runs a later optional sitting where a student may raise the score in as many as three subjects, and maths is allowed. Read its dates on cbse.gov.in only, and plan the year around the main exam. For depth, use our chapter-wise Class 10 maths preparation and the month-by-month board-year plan; the Class 10 maths tutor page explains how we match in the board year.

Classes 11 and 12: can one tutor handle the +2 paper and JEE?

Yes, if the tutor treats them as two different jobs. A board paper rewards full, readable solutions; an entrance test rewards accurate answers at speed, with marks lost for wrong guesses.

Senior maths targets for Cuttack students, what is officially known about each, and the home tutor's task
TargetWhat is knownHome tutor's task
CHSE +2 Science mathematicsThe council writes the syllabus, holds the exam and publishes results; its syllabus page lists a mathematics syllabus marked Rationalised 2023Plan chapter by chapter from the current file on chseodisha.nic.in, not from an older guide
CBSE Class 1238 compulsory questions for 80 marks; calculus alone is worth 35Start calculus early and keep one written long answer in every session
JEE Main, 2026 Paper 175 questions for 300 marks; 25 in maths, 20 multiple-choice and 5 with a numerical answer; +4 right, −1 wrongTimed sets, then a review of every lost mark; the next year's pattern is announced on jeemain.nta.nic.in

A workable week has one session for entrance problems left unsolved and one for the board, ending with a long answer the tutor marks before leaving. Keep an error log as well. Every mark that slips away is filed under a missing idea, a careless calculation or a question read wrongly, and the following week is built on that file. See the Class 12 calculus and algebra guide, our JEE maths topic-wise guide, the JEE home tutors in Cuttack page, and the tutor pages for Class 11 and Class 12 maths.

ICSE, ISC, IB and IGCSE maths: what is particular to each?

ICSE Class 10
One written paper of 80 marks, with 20 for internal assessment. Working is judged line by line, so neat, complete steps matter as much as the final answer.
ISC Class 12
Students writing in 2027 or 2028 face a single 80-mark CISCE paper across seven units. The earlier option of Section B or Section C has gone, which makes vectors, 3-D geometry, linear programming and probability compulsory for all. Calculus is worth 35 of the 80, and the two projects bring another 20. The ICSE and ISC maths guide covers both years.
IB Diploma
Of the two courses, AA (Analysis and Approaches) is heavier on algebra, functions, calculus and proof and keeps one calculator-free paper, while AI (Applications and Interpretation) is heavier on modelling and statistics and uses a graphic display calculator in every paper. At SL, two papers weigh 40% apiece; at HL, three papers weigh 30%, 30% and 20%. The final 20% at both levels is the exploration, written by the student alone. Read our guide to choosing IB maths AA or AI.
Cambridge IGCSE
A Core entry can earn at most a C, whereas Extended covers A* down to G. Agree which tier your child will take with the school long before the entry deadline.

Fewer teachers in the city handle these courses than CBSE or the Odisha boards, so put the course name in the very first line of your request. When no suitable teacher can travel to you, an online specialist can take the course while a nearby tutor checks written practice.

Six Cuttack localities: what helps a maths tutor arrive on time?

Old-city lanes and the planned CDA sectors need different kinds of address, and tutors mostly arrive by two-wheeler. Compare tutors by locality on our Cuttack page.

Six Cuttack localities: where they sit, what to put in the address, and one arrangement to make early
LocalityWhere it sitsIn the addressArrange early
BidanasiThe western end of the city, near the Mahanadi; the city was once called Bidanasi KatakaThe vihar first (Tareni, Laxmi, Jyoti or Satabdi Vihar), then the lane and a chhakA start time that leaves your child a short break after school
CDA Sector 7The south of the CDA township, with the Kathajodi ring road on its southern sideSector and plot number; add Abhinaba Bidanasi if that is on your gate plateOne weekly day kept free for school practicals and records
TulasipurThe western old city, spread over three municipal wardsThe colony, such as Chahata Nagar or Srivihar Colony, and the laneSiblings taught one after the other in a single visit, if two children need help
Chandni ChowkA central old-city neighbourhood with the Kathajodi to its southThe sahi name, since several streets branch off the chowkA slot soon after school, before the chowk gets busy in the evening
Choudhury BazarThe heart of the old city, with sahis such as Nandi Sahi and Jhola Sahi around itThe sahi before the bazar, and the door to useWhere a two-wheeler can stand, because many lanes are narrow
DolamundaiThe eastern old city, where the road to Badambadi beginsThe colony, such as Pithapur or Kothasahi, and a chhak on the Badambadi roadA short timed test every second week in the Class 10 year

The zone pages for CDA and Bidanasi and the eastern old city add more local detail, and our Cuttack home tuition guide takes each zone in turn.

What should you watch for in the free maths demo?

Skip the rehearsed showpiece. Hand over this week's school chapter and the last marked test, then look for:

  1. An attempt before an explanation. The tutor has your child try a question on paper before teaching anything.
  2. Mistakes sorted by kind. The tutor names what went wrong, whether a calculation, the wording of the question or the concept itself, because each one is mended differently.
  3. Working laid out for the examiner. HSC, CHSE, CBSE or CISCE: the page should look the way that marker expects.
  4. A plan you can repeat. You leave knowing the next few topics and which homework will be checked.

Not the right person? Let us know, and another tutor from the same shortlist comes for a demo; a switch later in the year is free too. The demo class checklist for parents lists more points to watch.

Should Cuttack maths lessons be at home, online or both?

At the same desk, a tutor sees a wrong step while it is being written, which matters most for younger children, geometry proofs and a child moving from Odia to English terms. Online lessons suit a specialist on the far side of the river, an ISC or IB course with few local teachers, or homes at the city's edge, such as the far CDA sectors, where few tutors live nearby. A common middle path is a weekly visit at home plus a weekly class on screen. Read home tutor or online tutor, and see our online tutors for Cuttack page.

What does a maths home tutor in Cuttack charge?

Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Each tutor sets a fee of their own. When you compare a shortlist, ask which board and class each tutor has taught recently, how many visits a week they suggest, and whether an online session can stand in during exam weeks. You will see all the fees ahead of the demo, and the Cuttack home tuition fees guide explains what else to ask.

What should your request to us include?

Send us the class, the course written out in full (HSC under BSE Odisha, CHSE +2 Science, CBSE Standard or Basic, ICSE, ISC, IB or IGCSE), your locality with its lane and nearest chhak, the free slots in your child's week, and a rough budget. A list of two or three maths tutors comes back with fees, and one of them gives a free demo. Where nobody suitable can get to your part of Cuttack at that time, we propose online or part-online lessons instead. Tutors who join go through an ID check; the Verified badge appears only after the ID check is complete (how the ID check works). NXTutors works from Sector 66, Gurugram, and teaches online across India; see the national maths home tutor page, our maths tutors in Bhubaneswar, and the Bhubaneswar page. Cuttack families looking beyond maths can try our physics or science pages.

Maths Home Tutor in Cuttack: common questions

What should Cuttack parents compare when looking at maths tutors' fees?

Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Each Cuttack maths tutor sets their own fee. Compare which board and class each has taught recently, how many visits a week they suggest, and whether online lessons can cover exam weeks.

What details help NXTutors match a maths tutor for a Cuttack child?

Send the class, the full course name, your locality with a lane and chhak, the free slots around school, and a budget. With those five details we send two or three matched maths tutors, each fee shown before you meet. The first class is a free demo, and switching tutor later is free.

How should a Cuttack tutor prepare a child for HSC maths under BSE Odisha?

A Cuttack tutor should start from the Class 9 and 10 textbooks that BSE Odisha publishes, finishing every exercise before extra material. Because schools upload internal assessment marks before the Annual HSC Examination, school tests matter all year. Check the current scheme on bseodisha.ac.in, and ask for explanations in Odia if your child learned maths in Odia.

Where can a Cuttack family find the CHSE +2 mathematics syllabus?

The current CHSE +2 mathematics syllabus is on the council's website, chseodisha.nic.in, where the Science list shows a mathematics file marked Rationalised 2023. A Cuttack tutor should plan chapter by chapter from that file rather than an older guidebook, because a guide printed earlier may still include topics the council has taken out.

Should a Cuttack student take CBSE Class 10 maths at Standard or Basic level?

A Cuttack student who may want maths in Class 11 should take CBSE Standard rather than Basic. Both levels use the same chapters, but about 54% of Standard marks reward recall and understanding against about 75% in Basic. Schools collect the choice by a fixed date, so discuss it with the tutor early in Class 10.

Which CBSE Class 10 maths unit deserves the most tuition time in Cuttack?

Algebra deserves the most tuition time for a Cuttack CBSE Class 10 student, because it carries 20 of the 80 board marks. Geometry follows with 15, trigonometry with 12, statistics and probability with 11 and mensuration with 10, while real numbers and coordinate geometry bring 6 each. Weekly lessons should roughly follow those weights.

Can one home tutor in Cuttack handle both +2 board maths and JEE Main?

One Cuttack home tutor can cover both +2 board maths and JEE Main if the two are treated as separate jobs. Board papers want full written working; JEE Main 2026 had 25 maths questions with +4 for a right answer and −1 for a wrong one. One session for timed entrance sets and one for board writing works well.

Which ISC maths topics become compulsory for Cuttack students in 2027 and 2028?

Cuttack students sitting ISC maths in 2027 or 2028 must study vectors, three-dimensional geometry, linear programming and probability, because CISCE has dropped the old choice between Sections B and C. The single paper carries 80 marks across seven units, calculus is worth 35 of them, and two projects add another 20 marks.

What address details help a maths tutor find homes in Bidanasi, Tulasipur or Dolamundai?

In Bidanasi, give the vihar name first, such as Tareni or Satabdi Vihar, then the lane and a chhak. Tulasipur covers three municipal wards, so add the colony name. In Dolamundai, name the colony, for example Pithapur or Kothasahi, and a chhak on the Badambadi road, so the tutor arrives on time for the first class.

When does online maths tuition make sense for a family in Cuttack?

Online maths tuition makes sense in Cuttack when the right tutor cannot easily travel to you. That includes a specialist across the river, an ISC, IB or IGCSE course with few local teachers, or a home in the far CDA sectors. Younger children and geometry proofs still gain from a tutor at the desk, so many families mix both.
