What home tuition costs in Meerut

Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Tutors set their own fee, and you see each tutor's fee before the demo class.

Monthly example: 3 one-hour classes a week ≈ ₹9,600–₹32,500 a month (12–13 classes at ₹800–₹2,500 an hour). An example, not a quote: your tutor's own fee decides the real figure.

Maths home tutor in Meerut: name the paper, name the pocket, then meet the tutor

UP Board has kept a regional office in Meerut since 1973, and its High School and Intermediate papers sit beside CBSE, ICSE and ISC maths in the city's homes, with IB and Cambridge courses for some children. Each of those papers rewards a different way of setting out a solution, so the tutor who suits a High School student on Garh Road may be the wrong person for an ISC student in Pallavpuram. Tell NXTutors the board, class, medium and the colony you live in, and we come back with two or three maths tutors who fit all four. Their fees are listed on the shortlist, and the opening lesson with the tutor you choose is a free demo.

Which of six maths papers is your child working towards?

The exam detail on this page has two authors. Ajay Vatsyayan is responsible for the IB, IGCSE and ISC maths guidance, and Abhinandan Tiwary for the Class 10 CBSE and ICSE sections. Both start from the same point: the paper at the end of the year shapes every lesson before it, so it has to be named before any tutor is suggested.

How should a tutor plan UP Board High School maths?

UP Board's 2026-27 syllabus for Class 10 maths puts 70 marks on the written board paper and 30 on internal assessment at school, which includes project work. A student must reach 23 in the paper and 10 internally to pass. Sorted by weight, the seven units suggest an order of priority for the year:

  1. Algebra, 18 marks. Worth more than the next unit by six marks. Word problems that have to be turned into equations deserve a fixed slot every week.
  2. Trigonometry, 12 marks. Heights and distances use only angles of 30, 45 and 60 degrees and never more than two right triangles, so a tutor can drill the standard figures until they feel routine.
  3. Geometry, mensuration, and statistics with probability, 10 marks each. Theorems need reasons written beside each step; mensuration needs units carried to the last line.
  4. Number systems and coordinate geometry, 5 marks each. Short questions that a well-drilled student should not drop.

The board's model paper shows the shape of the exam. A reading period comes before writing starts. Section A holds 20 multiple-choice questions of one mark, answered on an OMR sheet where cutting, erasing and whitener are not allowed, so a practice routine of deciding before marking is worth building early. Section B carries the other 50 marks in five questions, and each one states how many of its parts must be answered. Choosing parts well is a skill a tutor can teach on old papers. The model paper we read is printed in Hindi, which matters for the next point.

Medium. A child who writes maths in Hindi needs a tutor who explains and marks in Hindi, with the same terms the textbook uses. A child moving to English medium in Class 9 or 11 needs both languages for a while. Say which one applies in your request. The board's 2026-27 notice also says that only board-authorised textbooks are to be taught in its schools, so practice should start from the book your child has been issued.

What changes once a UP Board student reaches Intermediate maths?

Two things change at once. The internal 30 disappears, because Class 11 and Class 12 maths are each assessed through one 100-mark paper. And the weight moves sharply towards calculus.

UP Board Intermediate maths: unit marks in Class 11 and Class 12, and where a home tutor should spend time
ClassUnit and marksWhere tutor time goes
11Algebra 35; sets and functions 28; coordinate geometry 15; statistics and probability 12; calculus 10Functions and graphs, which every Class 12 chapter leans on
12Calculus 44; vectors and three-dimensional geometry 18; algebra 15; relations and functions 10; probability 8; linear programming 5Integration and its applications, practised every week of the session

The Class 12 model paper sets nine compulsory questions, with the marks for each part rising from one-mark multiple-choice items at the start to eight-mark questions at the end. Long questions reward a full line of working, so a tutor should mark method as strictly as the answer. Students who also plan to take JEE need algebra and coordinate geometry pushed further than the board asks; see our Class 12 maths tutor page for how that year is matched, and the UP Board tutor in Meerut page for every subject on the board.

What does the board's Meerut office mean for families?

UP Board's head office is in Prayagraj, where the board was set up in 1921. Its Meerut regional office, opened in 1973, deals with results, mark sheets, verification and scrutiny requests for Meerut district. If a question about marks or a certificate comes up after the exam, the board's own website lists the office and the process; a tutor cannot settle it for you.

One more note from the board is worth passing on to any Class 10 or 12 student. In a public notice, UP Board warns that callers may pose as board staff and offer marks details or higher marks for money. The board says it never contacts candidates one by one, and asks families not to share a roll number or bank details on such calls; they can be reported to the district's school inspector's office or the cyber helpline 1930.

CBSE maths and JEE: what should the home sessions cover?

CBSE maths in Class 10 and Class 12, and JEE Main, as a Meerut tutor should plan for them
ExamWhat the official scheme saysUse of the home hour
CBSE Class 10, 2026-27Algebra 20 of the 80 board marks; geometry 15; trigonometry 12; statistics with probability 11; mensuration 10; real numbers and coordinate geometry 6 apieceAlgebra word problems weekly; proofs with a reason on every line
CBSE Class 10 paperFive sections, from twenty one-mark items (two of them assertion–reason) to three case studies of four marks; no calculator, and π taken as 22/7 unless the question says otherwiseTimed sections from CBSE sample papers
CBSE Class 12Thirty-eight compulsory questions for 80, with calculus carrying 35Integration and differential equations through the whole session
JEE Main, 2026 patternMaths was 25 of the 75 questions: 20 with options and 5 needing a number; +4 for a correct answer, −1 for a wrong oneProblems left over from the coaching sheet, then an error log

Standard or Basic in Class 10? Both levels test the same chapters, yet Basic gives roughly three-quarters of its marks to recall and understanding while Standard gives only a little over half, so pick Standard whenever Class 11 maths is a possibility. Since 2026, CBSE lets Class 10 students sit an optional second exam to improve up to three subjects after the compulsory main one; the 2027 dates have not been announced. The NTA can change the JEE pattern each year, so read jeemain.nta.nic.in before planning. ICSE, ISC, IB and IGCSE maths in Meerut

  • ICSE Class 10: 80 marks on paper and 20 internal. Examiners give credit for visible working, so a tutor should never accept a bare answer. Our ICSE Class 10 maths guide has the detail.
  • ISC Class 12: from the 2027 exam, a single 80-mark paper in seven units with no section choice, which makes vectors, 3D geometry, linear programming and probability compulsory for all; calculus is worth 35, and two projects add 20 more. See the ICSE and ISC maths guide.
  • IB Diploma: Analysis and Approaches (algebra, functions, calculus, proof, one paper without a calculator) or Applications and Interpretation (modelling and statistics, calculator in every paper), each at SL or HL, with an exploration worth 20% that must be the student's own. Read the IB maths AA or AI guide.
  • Cambridge IGCSE: the Core tier tops out at grade C and Extended runs from A* to G; agree the tier with the school in good time, and read about switching from CBSE to IB or IGCSE if a move is on the cards.

Fewer Meerut teachers work with these four courses, so put the course name in the opening line of your request. An online specialist paired with a nearby tutor for written practice is a common answer.

Six colonies on the north and east side: what to arrange before the first lesson

Tutors in Meerut mostly ride two-wheelers or take autos. Since 22 February 2026 the Meerut Metro and the Namo Bharat line have run through the city as far as Modipuram, which helps homes near the Roorkee road stations; the Garh Road side has no station, so a tutor who lives nearby matters more there. All localities are on our Meerut page.

Along the Roorkee road

Pallavpuram was laid out by the development authority in two phases split into lettered pockets, and similar house numbers repeat from pocket to pocket, so send the phase and pocket letter with the address. Meerut North station serves it from the Roorkee road. In Daurli, apartment buildings face the main road and houses fill the lanes behind; its own station means a tutor can come by metro and walk, and registering the tutor at the society gate once saves time every week after.

The older lanes to the north

Kanker Khera grew lane by lane rather than to a layout, so an old house, a new build and an empty plot can share one street. Some inner lanes are narrow and suit a two-wheeler better than a car. Give the tutor a landmark on the main road, and fix the lesson time at the start, because evening traffic on the main roads builds up.

Either side of Garh Road

Shastri Nagar mixes independent houses, flats and builder floors, sometimes on a single street; name the building and floor for a flat, and a nearby park or bank for a house. Across the road, Jagriti Vihar is divided into sectors with many flats in multistorey buildings, so share sector, block and flat number and leave the tutor's name with the guard. Garh Road fills up later in the day, so an earlier start keeps the slot steady.

Further north-east

Ganga Nagar was developed in three phases of lettered pockets and has its own markets and bank branches. Homes range from independent houses to flats in approved gated colonies. Rakshapuram sits right beside it, so a tutor from either colony is a sensible ask.

The zone guides for North Meerut along the Roorkee road and East Meerut, Garh Road and Ganga Nagar add more practical detail, and our Meerut home tuition guide covers all four parts of the city.

How can you judge a maths tutor during the free demo?

Keep the demo honest by asking for this week's school chapter rather than a showpiece topic. Five things are worth noticing:

  • Questions before teaching. The tutor checks what your child already knows, or reads a marked test, before explaining.
  • Mistakes sorted. A careless sum, a misread question and a gap in the concept each get their own fix.
  • Board-shaped working. The steps look the way your child's examiner wants them, in the language your child writes.
  • Exam habits. OMR-style decisions for a UP Board student, a case study for CBSE, an extended proof for ISC or IB.
  • A visible plan. By the end you know the next few topics and which homework the tutor will mark.

If the match feels wrong, say so; the next tutor on the shortlist comes for a demo, and a later change of tutor is also free. Our demo class checklist for parents lists further signs.

Home, online or a mix of the two?

A tutor at the desk spots a dropped minus sign as it happens, and that is hard to replace for a Class 6 child or a student learning proofs. Online lessons make sense when the right specialist lives on the other side of Meerut or when coaching finishes late; photos of the notebook keep the written work in view. A week with one lesson of each kind, taught by the same person, suits many families. The home tutor or online tutor article compares them.

What does a maths home tutor in Meerut charge?

Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Rates are set by the tutors themselves and move with the class, the paper, the tutor's record with it, the journey to your colony at your chosen hour and how many lessons you book in a week. You see every fee on the shortlist before any demo; the Meerut home tuition fees article lists the questions to ask.

What should your request to us include?

Send the class, the exact paper (High School or Intermediate on the UP Board, CBSE Standard or Basic, ICSE, ISC, IB or IGCSE), the language your child answers in, your colony with its phase, pocket or sector, and the hours that suit you. Two or three maths tutors come back with their fees, and you pick one for the free demo. If none can reach your part of Meerut at that time, we propose online lessons or a mix. Tutors who join go through an ID check; the Verified badge appears only after our team has reviewed the ID, as explained on how we check tutors. Our office is in Sector 66, Gurugram, and lessons run online in every state; the national maths home tutor page covers other cities.

Maths Home Tutor in Meerut: common questions

How much does a maths home tutor in Meerut cost?

Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Each tutor names a rate, and every fee on your Meerut shortlist is visible before the demo.

Can you find a maths tutor for UP Board High School students?

Yes. Ask for a tutor who teaches from the board-authorised textbook in the medium your child writes, and who practises the OMR section of 20 one-mark questions. The 2026-27 syllabus puts 70 marks on the paper and 30 on internal work, and algebra alone carries 18 of the written marks.

Why does calculus matter so much in UP Board Intermediate maths?

Because it carries 44 of the 100 marks in the Class 12 paper, ahead of vectors and three-dimensional geometry at 18. The Class 12 paper itself carries the full 100 marks, so written practice decides the result. A tutor should keep integration practice running from the start of the session, not leave it for revision.

Which parts of Meerut do you take maths requests from?

All four parts of the city: North Meerut on the Roorkee road, East Meerut around Garh Road and Ganga Nagar, Central Meerut and South Meerut on the Delhi road. We look for tutors who can reach your colony at your hour, and suggest online lessons when nobody suitable can.

Should my child take CBSE Standard or Basic maths in Class 10?

Choose Standard if maths in Class 11 is possible at all. Both levels examine the same chapters for 80 marks, but Basic leans far more on remembering and understanding, while Standard asks for more application. Schools fix the choice at registration, so check the deadline with the school early in the year.

Whom should we contact about a UP Board result or mark sheet?

The board itself, not a tutor. UP Board's Meerut regional office, opened in 1973, deals with results, mark sheets, verification and scrutiny for Meerut district, and the board's website explains each process. The board also warns that it never phones candidates individually, so never share a roll number or bank details on such calls.

My child goes to JEE coaching. Does a home maths tutor still help?

It can, provided the home hour has a different job. Coaching covers new chapters quickly; a home tutor can clear the problems left unsolved on the coaching sheet, keep an error log from mock tests, and make sure board answers are written out in full with every step shown.

Can a maths tutor teach in Hindi for a UP Board student?

Yes, and for many UP Board students it is the right choice, since the board's model papers we read are set in Hindi. Tell us the medium in your request. If your child is moving to English medium, ask for a tutor who can explain in both languages and shift gradually to English.
