Tutoring in Meerut: what to know
For a tutor, Meerut on NXTutors falls into four zones. North Meerut follows the Roorkee road through Pallavpuram, Shradhapuri, Sainik Vihar, Kanker Khera and Daurli up to Modipuram; East Meerut takes in Shastri Nagar and Jagriti Vihar on Garh Road plus Lohia Nagar, Ganga Nagar and Rakshapuram; Central Meerut holds Saket, Begum Bagh, Thapar Nagar and Brahmpuri around the old Delhi road; and South Meerut runs through Shatabdi Nagar, Ved Vyas Puri, Rithani and Partapur towards the Delhi side. Many homes are houses in development authority schemes laid out in phases, sectors and pockets, with flats more common in places such as Jagriti Vihar, Daurli and Shatabdi Nagar.
Families here choose between the UP Board, CBSE and the CISCE boards (ICSE for Class 10, ISC for Class 12), and a smaller number follow IB or Cambridge IGCSE. The Uttar Pradesh Madhyamik Shiksha Parishad, whose head office is in Prayagraj, has had a regional office in Meerut since 1973; it prescribes the courses and textbooks for High School and Intermediate and conducts both examinations. A tutor taking UP Board students should work from those prescribed books, in the medium the student studies in, and read every syllabus and notice on upmsp.edu.in. CBSE, CISCE, IB and Cambridge students need their own board's material, which each body publishes on its official site.
Travel in Meerut changed on 22 February 2026, when the first Meerut Metro section opened from Meerut South to Modipuram, alongside the Namo Bharat trains to the Delhi side that have served Meerut South in Partapur since 18 August 2024. A tutor living near the old Delhi road can now reach Daurli, Brahmpuri or Rithani by train and finish by auto, while East Meerut, with no station, remains a two-wheeler zone. Requests reach tutors in widening circles: the family's own locality first, then tutors who already go there, then the zone, the whole city and finally online. Online teaching also lets you take students well beyond Meerut.

Teach at home, online or both
Then teach at homes in the colonies you picked, online for students anywhere in India, or both; a tutor near a metro station might pair weekday online classes with weekend visits.
Boards you can teach in Meerut
In Meerut you can teach four groups of boards: the UP Board, with its High School and Intermediate stages; CBSE; the CISCE pair of ICSE and ISC; and IB or Cambridge IGCSE, whose students here are fewer and often learn online. For UP Board work, rely on the Uttar Pradesh Madhyamik Shiksha Parishad's website for syllabi, textbook lists and notices, because the board itself prescribes courses and books. The other bodies publish their own material: CBSE's academic portal, CISCE regulations, IB guides and Cambridge syllabuses. List each board, class and medium you cover on your profile.
UPMSP
Class 10 (High School); Class 12 (Intermediate)
Founded in 1921 at Prayagraj, which is still its head office, the board added a Regional Office in Meerut in 1973. It grants recognition to schools, sets courses and textbooks, and runs the High School and Intermediate examinations. Lessons should follow the prescribed books in the medium the student uses; check every syllabus, pattern and date on upmsp.edu.in at the start of each term.
CBSE is a common choice in Meerut. Lessons usually rest on NCERT textbooks, with practice drawn from the sample papers and marking guidance on the CBSE academic portal. Ask about the board before planning anything: a CBSE child and a UP Board child in the same Shastri Nagar lane can need quite different preparation for the same class.
CISCE
Class 10 ICSE; Class 12 ISC
Answers in CISCE papers are long and written, the syllabus is wide, and English brings literature texts that reward steady reading. If you know ICSE in Class 10 and ISC in Class 12, you can teach families near your colony and offer ISC electives online to students elsewhere. Rely on the current regulations and specimen papers on cisce.org.
Only a few Meerut students take the IB Diploma, and the right subject specialist may be in another city, so this work is mostly online. Coursework such as Internal Assessments plus the Extended Essay counts with the exams; you can guide structure and give feedback, but the work must remain the student's. Plan from the IB's published subject guides.
IGCSE learners in Meerut, whether entered with Cambridge or Pearson Edexcel, are a smaller group and often learn online. Find out the awarding body and tier first, then teach from the official syllabus, past papers and mark schemes, with attention to command words. Cambridge syllabuses are on cambridgeinternational.org.
