Tutors who join go through an ID check. Tell us the class, board and your area: we share two or three matched tutors, each with their fee, and the first class is a free demo, at home or online.
Book a free demo classAcross NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Tutors set their own fee, and you see each tutor's fee before the demo class.
Monthly example: 3 one-hour classes a week ≈ ₹9,600–₹32,500 a month (12–13 classes at ₹800–₹2,500 an hour). An example, not a quote: your tutor's own fee decides the real figure.

Senior biology looks like a reading subject, and that is the trap. A student can read a chapter three times and still lose marks, because the board wants labelled diagrams and complete sentences while NEET wants the exact NCERT line, recalled in seconds. Aligarh students also move between Hindi, Urdu and English in daily life, and biology's long Latin-based vocabulary can turn that into a second hurdle. A home tutor helps by testing recall aloud, marking long answers and keeping the practical record up to date. Tell us the board, the class, whether NEET is planned and where you live; we come back with two or three biology tutors, fees included, and the first lesson is a free demo.
| Exam | Assessment | What earns the marks |
|---|---|---|
| UP Board Intermediate (Classes 11 and 12) | A 70-mark written paper and 30 practical marks in each year | Complete answers with neat diagrams, in the exam's medium |
| CBSE (044) | Each year: a 70-mark theory paper, then a 30-mark practical | Close NCERT reading, case-based questions, a current record |
| ISC (863) | Class 12: 70 in theory, and 30 more from practical (15), project (10) and file (5) | Large, fully labelled drawings and correct technical words |
| NEET (UG), 2026 bulletin | Half of all questions, 90 of 180, drawn from botany and zoology | Exact recall under time pressure; a wrong answer costs one mark, a right one earns four |
| IB; Cambridge IGCSE | IB Biology at SL or HL; IGCSE Biology 0610 | Data questions and lab technique; the IB adds an investigation the student designs |
Until Class 10, biology is part of science; our science home tutor in Aligarh page covers those years.
In both Intermediate years, UP Board biology is out of 100: a written paper of 70 and practical work of 30. The unit weights in the board's syllabus files show where the months should go.
| Class 11 (UP Board) | Marks | Class 12 (UP Board) | Marks |
|---|---|---|---|
| Human physiology | 16 | Genetics and evolution | 18 |
| Diversity in the living world | 14 | Reproduction | 14 |
| Cell | 14 | Biology in human welfare | 14 |
| Plant physiology | 14 | Ecology | 14 |
| Structural organisation in plants and animals (including the frog's organ systems) | 12 | Biotechnology | 10 |
The spread is fairly even, so no unit is safe to skip. Genetics is the one to start early, because inheritance questions are problems to solve rather than facts to recall. UP Board and CBSE both build on NCERT biology, so a UP Board student preparing for NEET can use one careful reading of the chapters for both. The difference lies in output: the board marks sentences and drawings, NEET marks a single correct option chosen quickly. Our UP Board tutors in Aligarh page covers the other subjects.
CBSE gives each year's theory paper 70 marks, with 30 for practicals. Its 2026-27 unit marks differ from the UP Board's in useful ways:
On both boards, genetics leads Class 12 and human physiology leads Class 11, and both return in NEET, so a brief re-run of physiology and the cell before Class 12 starts is time well used. ISC Biology (863) sets a Class 12 theory paper of 70, with 15 for the practical, 10 for the project and 5 for the practical file; ISC answers reward detailed diagrams and exact terms.
The 2026 NEET (UG) paper, as set out in NTA's bulletin, held 180 questions, all compulsory and all multiple-choice, for a total of 720. Biology supplied 90 of them, from botany and zoology, with physics and chemistry at 45 apiece. Scoring was four marks gained per correct answer and one lost per wrong answer. The National Medical Commission notifies the syllabus, and NTA confirms the pattern each year on neet.nta.nic.in.
In practice, a NEET biology tutor reads NCERT with the student down to the captions under figures and the rows of tables, sets timed objective blocks, and keeps a running list of every wrong answer and why it happened. Our Aligarh NEET home tutors page explains matching, and the NCERT-first approach to NEET biology goes deeper.
A two-visit week, repeated over a fortnight, keeps both kinds of preparation moving without one crowding out the other:
| Visit | What happens | What you should see afterwards |
|---|---|---|
| Week 1, visit 1 | Spoken recall of this week's school chapter, checked line by line against NCERT | A short list of lines your child could not reproduce |
| Week 1, visit 2 | Two long board answers with a labelled diagram, marked during the lesson | Corrected answers kept together in one file |
| Week 2, visit 1 | A timed set of objective questions on older chapters, then each wrong option discussed | An error log that grows and shrinks |
| Week 2, visit 2 | Practical record entries, spotting and viva practice | A record that is current, not a backlog |
Where a coaching class is also in the week, set the home visits on the days it does not meet. Whether to combine the two at all is discussed in our post on NEET preparation with coaching, a home tutor or both.
Every chapter brings new words, and a child who thinks in one language and writes in another meets each word twice. Four habits keep that manageable:
Thirty marks ride on practicals for both UP Board and CBSE students. The slides, specimens and experiments stay at school, yet a tutor at home can read each new record entry (aim, drawing, observation, result) in the week it is written, quiz the student on photographs of common slides and specimens, and rehearse the "why" questions an examiner asks in the viva. A file built steadily from the start of the session saves a frantic last fortnight.
A first visit goes smoothly when the tutor knows exactly where to turn. Here is what to send from six colonies on the north and east side; the full list of localities is on our Aligarh tuition page.
Both sit in the far north, next to each other and the Medical Road side. Jamalpur's family houses are often a little way off the main road, so give the mohalla and say where a two-wheeler can stand. In Dhaurra Mafi, use the spelling on your gate, since Dhorra and Dhourra are also written, and name your pocket.
Marris Road mixes flats and independent houses between the railway side and Civil Lines; for a flat, send the building, wing and floor. Janakpuri, on the eastern side beside Surendra Nagar and Ramesh Vihar, is found by lane and house number, so share both together.
Both colonies lie just off Ramghat Road in east Aligarh, and homes are found by number rather than street name. Give the block or house number, any phase name, the building name for a flat, and the nearest turn from Ramghat Road.
For more on these neighbourhoods, open the Civil Lines and Medical Road zone page or our city-wide Aligarh home tuition guide.
Biology travels well over a video call. A tutor can sketch on a tablet, your child can hold a drawing up to the camera, and a practice paper can be marked on a shared screen. A tutor in the room suits a student who drifts when alone at the screen, and a parent who wants the practical file checked as a physical book. NEET, ISC and IB specialists may live far from your colony, which is why many families mix one visit and one online lesson each week; our online tutors for Aligarh page has the details.
When it does not click, ask us for the next tutor on the list and a fresh demo; a change of tutor later in the year is also free.
Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Rates are set by each tutor and shown on the shortlist before any demo. For a list of questions to put to tutors when comparing, read our Aligarh home tuition fees guide.
A helpful message covers: class and board; NEET or not; the chapters giving trouble; coaching days, if any; the language your child thinks in; and your colony and free hours. You receive two or three biology tutors matched to that, each with a fee. Tutors who join go through an ID check; the Verified badge appears only after the ID check is complete (how the ID check works).
Aligarh students taking all three sciences can also look at our physics and chemistry pages. The national biology home tutor guide is fuller on IGCSE and the IB, and families elsewhere in Uttar Pradesh can compare biology tutors in Agra. If you teach biology and live in Aligarh, the Aligarh tuition jobs page lists families near you; joining is free.

UP Board Class 12 biology has a 70-mark written paper and 30 practical marks. Genetics and evolution carry 18 written marks; reproduction, biology in human welfare and ecology carry 14 each; biotechnology carries 10. Because the spread is even, no unit is safe to skip, and genetics problems are worth starting early.
Human physiology is the heaviest UP Board Class 11 biology unit at 16 of the 70 written marks in 2026-27. Diversity in the living world, the cell and plant physiology bring 14 each, and structural organisation, which includes the frog's organ systems, brings 12. Practical work adds 30 marks.
Yes, largely, because the UP Board and CBSE both build biology on NCERT, and NEET draws on the same chapters. The reading can be shared; the writing cannot. Board answers need full sentences and labelled drawings, while NEET needs one correct option chosen quickly, so a tutor should practise both every fortnight.
NEET (UG) 2026 had 90 biology questions out of 180, drawn from botany and zoology, in a 720-mark paper. Each correct answer earned four marks and each wrong answer lost one. The National Medical Commission notifies the syllabus, and NTA confirms the pattern every year on neet.nta.nic.in, so check the current bulletin.
A tutor can explain each new term in Hindi or Urdu, then have the child write it in English on a labelled sketch. Learning common prefixes and endings helps the child work out unfamiliar words, and a two-column glossary tested aloud each week fixes them. Written answers should always be in the exam's language.
Both colonies lie just off Ramghat Road, and homes are found by number rather than by street name. Give the block or house number, any phase name, the building name if you live in a flat, and the nearest turn from Ramghat Road. That usually brings a tutor straight to the door on the first visit.
A good part of it can be prepared at home, although experiments stay in the school lab. Practicals carry 30 marks on the UP Board and in CBSE. A tutor can check each record entry for aim, drawing and observation, run spotting drills from photographs of slides, and rehearse viva questions.
Tell us the class, board and your area. We share two or three matched tutors, and the first class is a free demo.
