Tutors who join go through an ID check. Tell us the class, board and your area: we share two or three matched tutors, each with their fee, and the first class is a free demo, at home or online.
Book a free demo classAcross NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Tutors set their own fee, and you see each tutor's fee before the demo class.
Monthly example: 3 one-hour classes a week ≈ ₹9,600–₹32,500 a month (12–13 classes at ₹800–₹2,500 an hour). An example, not a quote: your tutor's own fee decides the real figure.

An Aligarh student who starts thinking about engineering entrance in Class 11 is usually juggling three things: the school day, the board course and some form of entrance practice, whether a class, a test series or self-study from past papers. A home tutor is most useful when given one clear job inside that week. Sometimes the job is clearing problems that were left half done. Sometimes it is lifting a single weak subject, or making sure the UP Board, CBSE or ICSE chapters are understood deeply enough to carry entrance questions. This page explains how families in Aligarh set that up: what the board's own Class 11 papers cover, where the entrance syllabus asks for more, which hours stay free, and how tutors reach different parts of the city. The national JEE home tutor page has the exam in full.
The National Testing Agency conducts JEE (Main). Its 2026 bulletin describes Paper 1 as a computer test in three subjects, mathematics, physics and chemistry, with twenty-five questions apiece: twenty with options to pick from and five that need a numerical value typed in. Seventy-five questions in total, worth 300. Four marks were added for each correct response and one taken away for each incorrect one, whichever the question type. Students could sit two sessions, with the higher score kept, and choose from 13 paper languages, Hindi included.
The IITs set JEE (Advanced), open to those who become eligible through Main as its brochure lays down. The 2026 edition had two papers, both compulsory, in English or Hindi, and nobody could take it more than twice, and then only in two years running. Any of this can change from one year to the next; the bulletin on jeemain.nta.nic.in and the brochure on jeeadv.ac.in are the documents to trust, ahead of any website summary, ours included.
Many Aligarh students sit the UP Board, and its Class 11 syllabus files for 2026–27, published in Hindi on upmsp.edu.in, are a good starting point for a JEE plan. They show where the board puts its marks, and so where a student may be tempted to go lightly.
| Unit | Board marks | What the entrance adds |
|---|---|---|
| Sets, relations and functions, with trigonometric functions | 28 | Fast, accurate identities and graphs; functions reappear in calculus later |
| Algebra: complex numbers, quadratics, inequalities, permutations and combinations, binomial theorem, sequences and series | 35 | Multi-step problems that join two chapters, often under time pressure |
| Coordinate geometry: straight lines, conic sections, an introduction to three dimensions | 15 | Much more practice on circles, parabolas, ellipses and hyperbolas than the marks suggest |
| Calculus: limits and derivatives | 10 | A secure base for the large Class 12 calculus portion |
| Statistics and probability | 12 | Probability problems with careful counting |
The point for a tutor is the gap between weight and importance. Calculus and conic sections carry modest board marks in Class 11, yet entrance papers lean on both, so a student who skims them now pays for it in Class 12. The physics file tells a similar story. Its 70-mark written paper is split into two halves of 35: mechanics in the first (kinematics, the laws of motion, work and energy, rigid bodies and gravitation), and in the second, matter in bulk, thermodynamics, kinetic theory, and oscillations and waves. A separate 30-mark practical exam sits beside it. The board also asks schools to hold four unit tests in Class 11 for remedial teaching; those marks do not go into the result, but they are an early warning a tutor should read. Our UP Board tutors in Aligarh page covers the papers in more detail.
"Help with JEE" is too vague to judge after a month. The families who get the most out of a tutor pick one of these and say so at the start:
Our coaching or home tutor article sets out the same split of responsibilities in more depth; its examples come from Gurgaon, yet an Aligarh family can apply its questions unchanged.
| Slot | Good for | Local point |
|---|---|---|
| Soon after school | A home session in the weaker subject while the day's lesson is fresh | Main roads such as GT Road and Agra Road are calmer than in the evening |
| Weekend morning | A timed practice paper, reviewed that afternoon | Old-city lanes are easier to move through before the shops are busiest |
| Late evening | A short online session on the day's doubts | Nobody has to travel |
| School exam weeks | Revision only; no new entrance chapters | Keeps half-yearly and annual papers safe |
Lay the school timetable and any class timetable side by side before you ask for a tutor, and look for the slot that never moves. A tutor from your own side of the city is also far easier to keep than one who crosses the centre in the evening. The Vishnupuri and GT Road and Sasni Gate and Agra Road zone pages give more timing advice.
For school-side subject help, see the Aligarh maths, physics and chemistry pages.
| Locality | What helps the tutor | Timing note |
|---|---|---|
| Vishnupuri | Being central, it is within reach of tutors from many sides; name a clinic or hotel nearby, then the lane and house | Soon after school, before the central roads fill |
| Naurangabad | Say which side of GT Road you live on and give a landmark visible from the main road | Afternoons or weekend mornings |
| Upper Kot | Meet the tutor at a corner on the main road the first time; give mohalla, gali and house number | Say where a two-wheeler can be left |
| Sasni Gate | Name your colony and the turn off Agra Road, since several colonies share one approach | Late afternoon, clear of school and office hours |
| Vikas Nagar | Say whether the tutor should come from the Sasni Gate side or the Avas Vikas side | A weekend morning suits a senior student with a long school day |
| Sai Vihar | Send a map pin and the plot number; some lanes in this newer colony are not on maps yet | A daylight slot in winter |
The Old City zone page covers the older lanes, every locality is listed on the Aligarh home tutors page, and our Aligarh home tuition guide describes each of the five zones in turn.
Physics problem set-up and long maths working are usually better at the table, where the tutor watches the student pick the principle and write each line. Chemistry recall, short doubt checks and the review of a finished mock work well online. When the need is advanced problem-solving in a single subject, the right person may well live in a different city and teach over video. In that case insist that the working stays visible: a phone propped above the page or a tablet with a stylus both do the job. Many Aligarh families settle on one home visit for the weak subject plus one online session a week. See online tutors for Aligarh and the home or online tutor comparison.
Take the lightly weighted board units seriously this year: limits and derivatives, conic sections, rigid-body motion. Keep an error log from the opening weeks, since almost every Class 12 chapter builds on one of these.
The board paper, the practical, revision of Class 11 and mock tests all want the same months. A calendar drawn up with the tutor in the first fortnight, with board-answer weeks and practical-record weeks blocked off, stops the school side being squeezed at the end.
Begin with an honest audit of the previous attempt, paper by paper, and rebuild the chapters that cost the most. A free daytime means many more tutors can take you on. Confirm you are still eligible under the latest rules first.
For chapter-level planning, read our topic-wise notes on maths, physics and chemistry, or the JEE physics tutor page.
Not convinced? Ask for a different tutor's demo; changing tutor at any later stage costs nothing either. Our checklist for demo classes lists further points.
Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Tutors fix their own rates, and every rate is on screen before a demo is booked. What pushes a quote up or down is covered in the pricing guide and in home tuition fees in Aligarh.
Tell us your child's class, board and medium, which subjects need help, the hours that are free, and your neighbourhood plus a landmark. Two or three tutors who fit are suggested, and lesson one is a free demo. Every tutor who joins NXTutors goes through an ID check; the Verified badge appears only after the ID check is complete (our checks explained). Browsing tutor profiles first is fine too. Families aiming at medicine should read NEET home tutors in Aligarh, and teachers will find open requests under tuition jobs in Aligarh.

The UP Board Class 11 maths syllabus covers the right chapters for JEE, but not at entrance depth. Its 2026-27 file gives calculus only 10 of 100 marks and coordinate geometry 15, while entrance papers lean heavily on both. A tutor should add multi-step problems on each board chapter, especially limits, derivatives and conic sections.
UP Board Class 11 physics for 2026-27 has a 70-mark written paper in two halves of 35, plus a 30-mark practical. The first half is mechanics, from kinematics to gravitation; the second covers bulk matter, thermodynamics, kinetic theory, and oscillations and waves. Mechanics underpins much of JEE physics, so a weak first half needs attention early.
JEE Main 2026 Paper 1 had 75 questions for 300 marks, according to the NTA bulletin. Each of maths, physics and chemistry had 25 questions, of which 20 were multiple-choice and 5 numerical. Correct answers earned four marks and wrong ones lost one. There were two sessions, the better score counted, and 13 languages were offered.
Yes, an Aligarh student can prepare for JEE in Hindi. The 2026 JEE Main bulletin offered 13 paper languages including Hindi, and the 2026 JEE Advanced brochure offered English and Hindi. Pick the paper language by Class 11, ask for a tutor who uses the scientific terms in that language, and confirm the options in the current documents.
For most Aligarh JEE students, the hour soon after school and weekend mornings are the slots that last all year. Main roads such as GT Road and Agra Road are calmer then. A short online session late in the evening suits doubt-clearing, and school exam weeks should be kept for revision rather than new chapters.
In Naurangabad, tell the tutor which side of GT Road you live on and name a landmark visible from the main road. In Upper Kot, meet them at a corner on the main road for the first visit. In Sai Vihar, send a map pin and plot number, and prefer a daylight slot in winter.
Yes, a JEE student in Aligarh should keep the board physics practical going, because the UP Board Class 11 practical is a separate 30-mark exam. Experiments, a viva, the record, a project and sessional work make up those marks. A tutor can set a short weekly slot for the record so entrance work never pushes it aside.
Tell us the class, board and your area. We share two or three matched tutors, and the first class is a free demo.
