Tutoring in Aligarh: what to know
NXTutors splits Aligarh into five zones that follow the city's main roads. Civil Lines and Medical Road groups Civil Lines, Marris Road, Dodhpur, Jamalpur and Dhaurra Mafi on the north side around Jawahar Park. Ramghat Road and Quarsi strings Swarn Jayanti Nagar, ADA Colony, Janakpuri and Quarsi along the road to the north-east. Vishnupuri and GT Road covers Vishnupuri, Naurangabad and Surendra Nagar near the junction; the Old City takes in Upper Kot, Manik Chowk and Achal Taal; and Sasni Gate and Agra Road holds Sasni Gate, Avas Vikas Colony, Vikas Nagar and Sai Vihar in the south. Homes range from family houses on wide lanes to flats and homes above shops, and tutors mostly travel by two-wheeler, auto or city bus.
In Aligarh you will meet UP Board, CBSE and CISCE students, and now and then an IB or IGCSE learner, usually taught online. Uttar Pradesh Madhyamik Shiksha Parishad, the UP Board, runs two examinations, High School after Class 10 and Intermediate after Class 12, and lays down the textbooks for each. Plenty of children here are taught in Hindi, plenty in English and many switch between the two inside one subject, so your teaching medium is one of the first things a parent looks for. Hindi and Sanskrit tutors should list those subjects too, because both are examination papers for UP Board students.
You can teach at home, online or a mix. Picture a father in Swarn Jayanti Nagar asking for a Class 10 Maths tutor: NXTutors puts two or three tutors in front of him, choosing first among people who live in that colony, then among those who already visit it, and after that across the zone, the rest of Aligarh and the online pool. He sees your fee before booking a free first demo, and if he moves to another tutor later, that switch costs him nothing. Ramghat Road is long, GT Road and Agra Road get busy around school and office hours, and the old-city lanes are slow going, so list only the colonies you can reach at the same time every week and teach the rest online.

1
Sign up with a one-time code
Sign-up starts with a one-time code sent to your phone or email. After that, fill in the subjects and classes you take, your boards (UP Board, CBSE, ICSE or others), your teaching medium and the Aligarh colonies within your reach.
-
2
Upload your ID for the ID check
Upload a government photo ID for our team to review. This is the ID check that every tutor who joins goes through; it establishes who you are and does not involve the police or any background screening.
-
3
Your profile carries the Verified badge
Families then see your boards, your colonies anywhere from Dhaurra Mafi to Sai Vihar, your free hours and the fee you set, and the Verified badge appears on the profile only after the ID review is complete.

A family nearby sends a request
Suppose a request comes in from Naurangabad. NXTutors chooses two or three names, starting with Naurangabad residents, moving to tutors who already go there, and widening next to the zone, the city and the online pool.

5
Free demo; the family sees your fee first
The parent sees your fee before booking. Lesson one is a free demo in the family's home, with a parent requested to be present, and it shows you the child's level, exam medium and spare hours.

Teach at home, online or both
From there you set the balance: home lessons in the colonies you chose, video lessons for students anywhere in the state or the country, or a blend, such as two weekday visits in Vishnupuri and a Sunday class on video.
Boards you can teach in Aligarh
Expect four kinds of syllabus in Aligarh homes. For the UP Board, the prescribed textbooks are the base, and upmsp.edu.in carries the syllabus, model papers, a question bank and the board's notices; look there at the start of each term. For CBSE, start with the NCERT book and use the sample papers and marking schemes that CBSE puts online. For ICSE and ISC, read what CISCE issues each year. IB and IGCSE students here mostly learn over video, using the official guides and syllabuses. List your boards, classes and teaching medium clearly on your profile.
UPMSP
Class 10 (High School); Class 12 (Intermediate)
An act of the United Provinces Legislative Council created the board at Prayagraj in 1921, and its first examination followed in 1923; it has kept to 10+2 throughout. Its work includes recognising schools, laying down courses and textbooks for High School and Intermediate, and running both examinations. Use the board's own books in the student's exam medium, and practise from the model papers and question bank on upmsp.edu.in.
With an Aligarh CBSE student, follow the NCERT chapter the school is on and practise from the sample papers and marking schemes on cbseacademic.nic.in. At the demo, note the school's test dates and any evenings already taken by coaching. If a sibling in the same house sits the UP Board, give each child a separate plan, even when you teach them on the same visit.
CISCE
ICSE (Class 10); ISC (Class 12)
ICSE comes at Class 10 and ISC at Class 12, and both expect long, well-ordered written answers across many subjects, with set literature texts in English and project work. Base each term's plan on what cisce.org publishes, specimen papers included. An ISC specialist in Aligarh can combine home visits in one zone with online students in other cities.
IB
Diploma Programme (Classes 11–12)
IB Diploma students in Aligarh usually work with a tutor over video, using the subject guide on ibo.org as the common reference. Guidance on planning an Internal Assessment or Extended Essay, and feedback on a draft, is fine; the writing itself stays with the student. A fixed weekly slot outside school hours keeps the work moving.
Find out first whether the student is entered for Cambridge or Pearson Edexcel, and for which tier or paper, because the planning differs. Revision then rests on past papers, mark schemes and the meaning of each command word. Cambridge syllabuses are on cambridgeinternational.org, and an Aligarh learner normally reaches a specialist online.
