Tutors who join go through an ID check. Tell us the class, board and your area: we share two or three matched tutors, each with their fee, and the first class is a free demo, at home or online.
Book a free demo classAcross NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Tutors set their own fee, and you see each tutor's fee before the demo class.
Monthly example: 3 one-hour classes a week ≈ ₹9,600–₹32,500 a month (12–13 classes at ₹800–₹2,500 an hour). An example, not a quote: your tutor's own fee decides the real figure.

Ask three Aligarh parents what "maths tuition" means and you may hear three different things. One child sits the UP Board High School paper and answers in Hindi; a cousin writes CBSE Standard maths in English; a neighbour on an ICSE course has a project due before the pre-boards. Each paper rewards a different kind of practice, so a good tutor for one is not always right for another. Tell NXTutors the class, the board, the language of the answer sheet and your colony. We come back with two or three maths tutors matched on all four points, each fee printed on the shortlist before anyone visits, and the opening lesson with your chosen tutor costs nothing: it is a free demo.
Two people wrote the exam advice here: Ajay Vatsyayan covers ISC, IB and IGCSE maths, while Abhinandan Tiwary covers CBSE and ICSE maths in Class 10. Everything said about the UP Board comes from syllabus files and model papers published on upmsp.edu.in. Locate your child's course in the table; the right-hand column is something concrete to ask on the first phone call.
| Course | Examining body | How marks are built | Opening question |
|---|---|---|---|
| Class 10, the High School exam | UPMSP, the UP Board | 30 marks stay with the school, project work among them; the exam paper carries 70 | Have your students practised on OMR sheets? |
| Intermediate, Classes 11 and 12 | UPMSP | A yearly paper out of 100 with no school share | How much of Class 12 will go to calculus, and when? |
| Class 10 and Class 12 | CBSE | 80 marks on the board's paper, 20 given by the school | Standard or Basic in Class 10, and on what evidence? |
| ICSE (Class 10), ISC (Class 12) | CISCE | 80 in the written exam; 20 from internal or project work | Is your syllabus copy for my child's exam year? |
| IB Diploma; Cambridge IGCSE | IB; Cambridge | IB: exams plus a written exploration. IGCSE: entered at Core or Extended | Have you taught this exact course in the last two years? |
Founded in 1921 with its seat in Prayagraj, the Uttar Pradesh Madhyamik Shiksha Parishad runs the High School examination at the close of Class 10 and the Intermediate examination at the close of Class 12. Its 2026-27 Class 10 maths syllabus splits 100 marks into 70 for the written paper and 30 for school assessment, project work included, and a pass needs 23 from the paper plus 10 from school. The seven units of the written paper, heaviest first:
| Unit | Marks | Habit to drill |
|---|---|---|
| Algebra | 18 | Read the word problem twice, name the unknown, then form the equation |
| Trigonometry | 12 | Sketch first; in heights and distances the board keeps to 30°, 45° and 60°, with no more than two right triangles in a figure |
| Geometry | 10 | Each line of a proof carries its reason in brackets |
| Mensuration | 10 | Write the unit after every number, especially when two solids are joined |
| Statistics and probability | 10 | Build the class-interval table cleanly before computing anything |
| Number systems | 5 | Small questions answered in full sentences, never skipped |
| Coordinate geometry | 5 | State the formula, then substitute, then simplify |
Algebra alone is over a quarter of the paper, and Class 9, which uses the same 70 plus 30 split, is the calm year to repair it. Our UP Board tutors in Aligarh page covers the board's other subjects.
Look at the board's Class 10 model paper and the first thing after the reading period is a block of twenty multiple-choice questions, one mark apiece, marked on an OMR sheet. That is Section A. The remaining 50 marks sit in Section B, spread over five questions, and every question states how many of its parts may be answered. On the OMR sheet, no cutting, eraser or whitener is allowed, so a circle filled in haste cannot be put right.
So the habit to build is simple: solve in rough work first, decide, and only then fill the circle. A tutor can print OMR-style grids and run a timed block of twenty questions once a fortnight, then go through every wrong choice. The board's site also carries a month-by-month syllabus, a handy pacing chart for home lessons, and its 2026-27 textbook notice tells schools to use only the books it has authorised. Practise from those, not from a guide printed for another board.
From Class 11 the school share disappears: each year ends in one 100-mark paper, and the unit weights decide where the months go.
In the board's Class 12 model paper, all nine questions must be attempted, each stating how many of its parts count. The parts rise from one-mark multiple-choice items to eight-mark answers, and those long answers are where complete working matters most. Set one long question a week, written out in full and marked against the model paper's layout. Dates and scheme changes come only from upmsp.edu.in.
Yes, and in Aligarh this question comes up often. The board's model maths papers are set in Hindi, many UP Board students answer in Hindi, CBSE and ICSE pupils generally write in English, and some children understand a new idea fastest when it is first explained in Hindi or Urdu. Explanation can be in whichever language helps; the written practice should be in the language of the answer sheet from the first week.
A change of medium at Class 9 or Class 11 is where marks slip quietly: a child who learnt samantar shreni now meets "arithmetic progression" and is doing two jobs at once. A two-column term list at the back of the notebook, and solutions written in English even while the talk is in Hindi, close the gap within a term.
CBSE has kept last session's paper design for 2026-27. Of the 80 Class 10 board marks, algebra takes 20, geometry 15 and trigonometry 12; statistics with probability takes 11, mensuration 10, and real numbers and coordinate geometry 6 each. Section A holds twenty one-mark items, mostly multiple-choice plus a pair of assertion–reason questions; Sections B, C and D ask for two-, three- and five-mark answers; Section E closes with three four-mark case studies. Calculators stay outside the hall, and π is taken as 22/7 unless the question says otherwise.
Parents also choose between Standard and Basic. The chapter list is shared, but Basic puts about three-quarters of its marks on remembering and understanding, while Standard puts about 54% there and asks for more application. A child who might want maths after Class 10 should sit Standard. CBSE has also added an optional second Class 10 exam in which a student may try to improve up to three subjects, maths included; only cbse.gov.in gives its schedule. Chapter help is in our CBSE Class 10 maths preparation post and the month-by-month board-year plan; the Class 10 maths tutor page explains matching for that year.
The CBSE Class 12 paper has 38 questions, all compulsory, for 80 marks, and 35 of those marks are calculus. If JEE Main is also on the list, the scoring changes: in 2026, Paper 1 carried 25 maths questions (twenty with options, five needing a number), with four marks gained for a right answer and one lost for a wrong one. Check jeemain.nta.nic.in each year before relying on that. The calculus and algebra guide for Class 12, our topic-wise JEE maths plan and the JEE home tutors in Aligarh page take it further.
Fewer teachers in the city work with these courses than with UP Board or CBSE students, so name the course at the very start. If nobody suitable can come to your home, an online specialist can carry the syllabus while a local tutor marks written practice in between.
The six colonies below sit on the north and north-east side of the city, around Civil Lines and along Ramghat Road. Compare tutors by locality on our Aligarh page.
| Colony | Homes and setting | Send ahead |
|---|---|---|
| Civil Lines | Older family houses on wide lanes and newer apartment blocks, around Jawahar Park | The colony or lane inside Civil Lines, the house or flat number, and a crossing that shows on a phone map |
| Dodhpur | Older houses, newer flats and some buildings with offices below, along Dodhpur Road near Medical Road | Whether the entrance is from the front lane or the back, plus a landmark on Dodhpur Road |
| Dhaurra Mafi | Mostly family houses between Jamalpur and the Medical Road area; also spelt Dhorra Mafi or Dhourra Mafi | The exact spelling on your gate, the pocket name and the turning off the main road |
| Ramghat Road | Shops and offices on a long main road, homes on the quieter lanes behind it | Which stretch you live on: the city end, the middle near Swarn Jayanti Nagar, or the Quarsi end |
| Swarn Jayanti Nagar | Houses and apartment buildings in a colony just off Ramghat Road, with Ramesh Vihar and Kuldeep Vihar close by | Block or house number, the building name if you live in a flat, and the nearest turn from Ramghat Road |
| Quarsi | An older settlement at the bypass end of Ramghat Road with newer colonies still being added; city bus route 3 from Ghantabagh ends here | A phone map pin with the colony, plot or house number and the nearest chauraha |
The Civil Lines and Medical Road and Ramghat Road and Quarsi zone pages add more local tips, and our Aligarh home tuition guide covers the old city, Vishnupuri and the Agra Road side as well.
Skip the showpiece lesson. Ask the tutor to pick up the chapter your child's class is doing right now, and put the most recent marked test beside the notebook. Then notice:
When the fit is poor, let us know: another tutor from your shortlist gives the next demo, and a switch later in the year is free as well. More questions are in our checklist for the demo class, and the home or online tutor article helps if an online specialist is on the table.
Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Each tutor fixes their own rate, and you see it before the demo. Beyond the number, compare how many weekly sessions each tutor proposes and whether exam weeks can switch to online. The Aligarh home tuition fees guide lists more points.
Send us the class, the exact course (High School or Intermediate on the UP Board, CBSE Standard or Basic, ICSE, ISC, IB, IGCSE), the language your child writes the paper in, your colony and a landmark, and the hours left free after school. Our shortlist names two or three maths tutors, fee beside each, and you choose who gives the free demo. If the hour you want is one no nearby tutor can manage, we will say so and offer online or mixed lessons. Tutors who join go through an ID check; the Verified badge appears only after the ID check is complete (how the ID check works).
NXTutors is run from Sector 66, Gurugram, with online lessons available India-wide. The national maths home tutor page explains matching in general, and families elsewhere in Uttar Pradesh can compare Agra and Lucknow. In Aligarh itself, see the physics and science pages. If you teach maths and live in Aligarh, the Aligarh tuition jobs page lists families near you; joining is free.
Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Each Aligarh maths tutor fixes their own rate, and you see it on the shortlist before the free demo, so you can compare session counts and online options first.
Tell us the class, the exact course, the language of the answer sheet, your colony with a landmark and the free hours after school. We send two or three matched maths tutors with fees shown, the first class is a free demo, and switching tutor later is free. If nobody nearby suits the hour, we suggest online or mixed lessons.
In the UP Board's 2026-27 Class 10 maths syllabus, algebra carries 18 of the 70 written marks and trigonometry 12. Geometry, mensuration, and statistics with probability carry 10 each, while number systems and coordinate geometry carry 5 each. School assessment, including project work, adds 30, and a pass needs 23 in the paper and 10 from school.
Because Section A of the UP Board Class 10 maths model paper is twenty one-mark multiple-choice questions marked on an OMR sheet that allows no cutting, eraser or whitener. A circle filled in haste cannot be corrected. A tutor can run timed OMR-style blocks every fortnight and teach the child to settle each answer in rough work first.
No, UP Board maths in Classes 11 and 12 is one 100-mark paper each year with no school share. In Class 12, calculus carries 44 marks, vectors and 3D geometry 18 and algebra 15. The model paper has nine compulsory questions with parts worth one to eight marks, so long answers written in full are worth weekly practice.
The written practice should be in the language of your child's answer sheet, whatever language the explanation uses. UP Board model maths papers are set in Hindi, CBSE and ICSE students usually write in English, and some children grasp a new idea faster in Hindi or Urdu first. A two-column term list helps a child who is changing medium.
Choose Standard if maths in Class 11 is at all possible. Both levels share the chapters, but about 54% of Standard marks test remembering and understanding against about 75% in Basic, so Standard asks for more application. CBSE also offers an optional second Class 10 exam to improve up to three subjects, with dates only on cbse.gov.in.
Say which stretch of Ramghat Road you live on, the city end, the middle near Swarn Jayanti Nagar or the Quarsi end, with the colony and house number. In Quarsi, where new colonies are still filling in, also share a phone map pin and the nearest chauraha, so only tutors who can reach you regularly are suggested.
Yes, but name the course in your first message, because fewer local teachers work with ISC, IB or IGCSE maths. If nobody suitable can visit, an online specialist can carry the syllabus while a nearby tutor marks written practice. ISC 2027 sets one 80-mark paper with two projects worth 20 more.
Tell us the class, board and your area. We share two or three matched tutors, and the first class is a free demo.
