Book a free demo classAcross NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Tutors set their own fee, and you see each tutor's fee before the demo class.
Monthly example: 3 one-hour classes a week ≈ ₹9,600–₹32,500 a month (12–13 classes at ₹800–₹2,500 an hour). An example, not a quote: your tutor's own fee decides the real figure.

In a great many Firozabad homes, English belongs to the classroom and the textbook, while Hindi or Brajbhasha belongs to the dinner table. The gap shows in familiar places: literature answers that stop after two lines, sentences built in Hindi word order, a translation question left blank, and a child who understands far more English than they will say aloud. Extra grammar worksheets seldom close it. Writing that someone marks every week, slow reading of the prescribed books and a few minutes of speech in each lesson usually do. Write to NXTutors with the board, the class, the skill that is weak and your locality. Our shortlist names two or three English tutors, each fee visible, and the opening lesson costs you nothing: it is a free demo.
"English" on a Firozabad timetable can mean a UP Board paper, a CBSE paper, a CISCE pair of papers or an international course. The skills overlap, but the weights do not, and a tutor should plan from the right one.
| Board | Class 10 | Class 12 | Where time goes |
|---|---|---|---|
| UP Board (UPMSP) | 70 on paper, 30 from school. Of the 70: literature 35, grammar 15, reading 10, writing 10 | 100 on paper, nothing from school. Literature 40, grammar 25, writing 20, reading 15 | Set-book answers, Hindi-to-English translation, letters and articles |
| CBSE | Language and Literature: 80 board, 20 school | English Core: 80 written, plus 20 for listening, speaking and a project | NCERT texts, CBSE sample questions and marking schemes |
| CISCE | ICSE: an 80-mark language paper and an 80-mark literature paper, plus internal work | ISC: the same two-paper pattern, with project work | The council's set texts and specimen papers |
| Cambridge or IB | IGCSE English as a First Language (0500) or Second Language (0510, 0511) | IB Language A, with unseen analysis, a comparative essay and an oral | Past papers for the exact entry and level |
Half of the 70-mark High School paper is literature. Under the 2026-27 syllabus, the First Flight reader supplies 23 of those 35 marks, split 15 for prose and 8 for poetry, and the supplementary reader, Footprints Without Feet, supplies 12. Grammar adds 15. Reading comprehension and writing take 10 apiece. Schools add the remaining 30 through internal assessment.
The model paper begins with a reading period and lasts three hours. Its opening part is twenty objective questions for a mark each, shaded on an OMR sheet; its second part carries 50 marks of written answers. A home plan follows from that. Give literature the most lesson time, with each answer planned in points and anchored to a quotation. Teach grammar from the mistakes in your child's own exercise book. Run the objective block as short timed rounds every couple of weeks. The rest of the High School timetable is on our UP Board tutors in Firozabad page.
Class 12 has no internal cushion. The whole 100 marks ride on one paper: 40 for Flamingo and Vistas, 25 for grammar, 20 for writing and 15 for reading. The writing task is an article of roughly 150 words plus a letter, either to an editor, a complaint or a business letter, and poetry questions may ask about figures of speech. The syllabus mentions four school unit tests meant for remedial teaching, which are not added to the result.
So timed writing earns its place every week. A sensible pattern is one article or one letter per week, returned with comments on layout, ideas and language, plus a growing notebook page of figures of speech, each with a line from a set poem beside it.
Both UP Board papers carry translation from Hindi into English in the grammar section: four sentences worth 4 marks in Class 10, and seven or eight sentences worth 5 marks in Class 12. A child who thinks in Hindi can make these some of the safest marks on the paper, yet many leave them for the last week.
A small drill is enough. At the start of a lesson, the tutor reads out five short Hindi sentences mixing past, present and future; the child writes them in English; and every slip is tagged, whether it is the tense, an article, a preposition, the word order or a missing word. After a few months, the tags make clear which grammar topic needs a proper lesson. CBSE and ICSE pupils who think in Hindi or Brajbhasha gain from it too, though their papers set no translation.
CBSE Class 10 uses the same two NCERT readers, but its 2026-27 paper of 80 shares the marks out another way. Literature takes 40 and reading 20, the reading coming from a discursive passage and a factual one built around a chart or numbers. Writing and grammar take 10 each, the writing being a formal letter and an analytical paragraph describing a graph, chart or map. Within the 20 school marks, listening and speaking count for 5.
In Classes 11 and 12, English Core moves from Hornbill and Snapshots, where Class 11 gives literature 31, reading 26, and grammar with creative writing 23, to Flamingo and Vistas, the readers UP Board students also use. ISC English is two papers, one on language (composition, directed writing and a proposal) and one on literature. On every one of these papers, literature is a large share, so two marked literature answers a week tends to help more than a pile of grammar sheets. For IGCSE, check whether your child is entered for First or Second Language; IB Language A rests on unseen analysis and an individual oral. Local teachers for these are few, so online lessons are often the realistic choice, and the national English home tutor page covers each course.
A move from a Hindi-medium school into an English-medium one, often at Class 6, 9 or 11, means new content and a new language at the same moment. The fix is a planned handover from Hindi to English:
Speaking, yes, and it pays in marks, because CBSE, ICSE and ISC assess listening and speaking. End each lesson with a two-minute spoken retelling of that day's passage, and over the term move up to short prepared talks and unplanned questions. If the goal is fluency for an interview, a debate or a college presentation, mention it when you write; we then look for a different kind of tutor. Our spoken English guide for students has ideas.
For Classes 1 to 5, the goal is simpler: a child who reads willingly and accurately. Watch for guessing a word from its first letter, losing the line, or avoiding books. Little and often works, with sounding out, reading aloud and retelling the story. If English is rarely heard at home, the tutor can chat in English about pictures and switch to Hindi only when the child is truly stuck. Ask for a tutor who has taught young readers before.
A weekly English lesson lasts the whole school year more easily when the tutor lives nearby. Every locality is listed on our Firozabad home tuition page; here are six on the north and west side.
| Locality | Where it sits | Arrange beforehand |
|---|---|---|
| Vibhav Nagar | North side, beside Sarswati Nagar at the start of Jalesar Road | Gali number and a landmark on Jalesar Road; a younger sibling can often share the tutor in a second slot |
| Sarswati Nagar | Next to Vibhav Nagar, with English-medium and Hindi-medium pupils in the same lanes | A map pin, as colony lanes look alike; say which medium your child studies in |
| Dakhal | Between the Jalesar and Kotla roads | The smaller colony name first, then Dakhal; a slot an hour or so after school |
| Tapa Kalan | North edge beside Dakhal, also shown as Tapa Kala | Colony name, house number and a known shop; weekend mornings for longer reading sessions |
| Kakrau | Far north-west, where the canal-side road begins | Which side of the canal road you are on; a daylight slot in winter, or online lessons |
| Mahaveer Nagar | West side along the old highway, also written Mahavir Nagar | On the highway side, a call from the nearest crossing; say if you want English taught with Hindi explanations |
For the north side, the Jalesar Road and Kotla Road zone page has local tips, and the west side is covered by Suhag Nagar and Agra Road. Our Firozabad home tuition guide covers the whole city. From around Class 3, English can be taught online too, provided written work is sent to the tutor ahead of each lesson; see online tutors for Firozabad.
Hand the tutor your child's last marked English answer and ask for a lesson built on it. In the hour that follows, a promising tutor will:
If it does not feel right, tell us; the next tutor on the shortlist gives a demo, and a change later in the year is also free.
Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Tutors decide their own fees, and you see every fee before the demo. Good comparison questions: which board's English has the tutor taught recently, will written work be corrected between visits, and how many lessons a week would they advise? See the Firozabad home tuition fees guide for more.

Literature carries the most, 35 of the 70 written marks, in the UP Board 2026-27 Class 10 English paper, with 30 more marks internal. Of the literature marks, First Flight gives 23 and Footprints Without Feet 12. Grammar brings 15, including a 4-mark translation, and reading and writing bring 10 each. Part A of the model paper is twenty OMR questions.
No, UP Board Class 12 English is a single 100-mark paper with no internal share. Literature from Flamingo and Vistas brings 40, grammar 25, writing 20 and reading 15. The writing section asks for an article of about 150 words and a letter, so one marked piece of timed writing each week helps most.
Translation carries 4 marks in Class 10, for four Hindi sentences, and 5 marks in Class 12, for seven or eight sentences, within the grammar section. A ten-minute drill each lesson, with every slip labelled as tense, article, preposition, word order or vocabulary, makes these some of the safest marks for a Hindi-speaking child.
A tutor helps most with a planned handover, starting bilingual and moving to English-only lessons after about one term. Early weeks use daily short English readings and a word book; later weeks add stock phrases for letters and answers and two-way Hindi-English translation to catch tense and word-order habits.
CBSE Class 10 English uses the same two NCERT readers but sets an 80-mark board paper. Literature takes 40, reading 20, and writing and grammar 10 each, with 5 of the 20 school marks for listening and speaking. On both boards literature is about half the written paper, so marked literature answers matter most.
Yes, spoken English can be built alongside exam work, and CBSE, ICSE and ISC all assess listening and speaking. A two-minute spoken retelling at the end of each lesson, growing into short prepared talks, builds confidence. If fluency for an interview or presentation is the goal, say so, as it points us to a different tutor.
In Mahaveer Nagar, also written Mahavir Nagar, say whether you live on the highway side and ask the tutor to call from the nearest crossing. In Dakhal, write the smaller colony name first and then Dakhal. In both, mention whether you want English taught with Hindi explanations, so we match the right tutor.
Young children need a tutor who builds willing, accurate reading rather than exam skills. Short, frequent sessions with sounding out, reading aloud and retelling work well. If little English is spoken at home, the tutor can chat in English about pictures and stories and use Hindi only when the child is truly stuck.
Tell us the class, board and your area. We share two or three matched tutors, and the first class is a free demo.
