What home tuition costs in Gorakhpur

Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Tutors set their own fee, and you see each tutor's fee before the demo class.

Monthly example: 3 one-hour classes a week ≈ ₹9,600–₹32,500 a month (12–13 classes at ₹800–₹2,500 an hour). An example, not a quote: your tutor's own fee decides the real figure.

ICSE and ISC home tutors in Gorakhpur: English that carries weight, three separate sciences, electives chosen once

CISCE is one of three boards Gorakhpur families meet, beside CBSE and the UP Board, and it asks for something a little different. ICSE papers reward full, well-ordered written answers; English matters in every subject, not only in the English paper; and the sciences are examined as three separate papers in Class 10. At ISC level the choice of electives is fixed early and cannot easily be undone. This page explains how the CISCE years work, what a tutor should do differently from a CBSE or UP Board tutor, and how families in different parts of Gorakhpur arrange the help. Every board fact below comes from the regulations and specimen papers on cisce.org; read the current versions for your child's year.

Where CISCE sits among Gorakhpur's boards

A Gorakhpur family choosing a tutor should start with the board, because the same chapter is taught and examined differently on each. CBSE builds on NCERT and asks many competency questions. The UP Board publishes its own syllabus, model papers and question bank, much of it in Hindi. CISCE sets its own syllabus and specimen papers, in English, with longer answers and project work through the year. A tutor who has taught only one of these boards may still be a good teacher, but should be honest about which papers they know.

How ICSE arranges the Class 10 subjects

ICSE subject groups under the CISCE regulations
GroupContentsPaper : internal
Group I, taken by allEnglish, a second language, and History, Civics & Geography80 : 20
Group II, two or three chosenOptions include Mathematics, Science, Economics, Commercial Studies, Environmental Science, or a classical or foreign language80 : 20
Group III, one chosenOne applied subject, such as Computer Applications, Economic Applications, Commercial Applications, Art or Physical Education50 : 50

Schools report progress through the year in Analysis of Pupil Performance reports. Ask the school for your child's report and share it with the tutor; it shows which papers lose marks, and why.

Maths and the three science papers

ICSE Mathematics is a single 80-mark paper with 20 internal marks earned from at least two assignments, marked by the teacher and an external examiner. Physics, Chemistry and Biology are each examined in a separate 80-mark paper, with 20 internal marks for practical work. That separation matters: a child cannot lean on a strong subject to cover a weak one, because each paper stands alone.

  • Maths. Full working, clear statements of what is being found, and neat geometry. A tutor should mark the method, not only the answer.
  • Physics. Definitions in exact words, labelled diagrams, and numericals with units at every line.
  • Chemistry. Balanced equations, observations written precisely, and the reasons behind each test.
  • Biology. Labelled diagrams drawn from memory and long answers in a logical order.

See our Gorakhpur maths, physics, chemistry and biology pages for subject help across boards.

English carries weight in every paper

Because CISCE answers are long and written, a child who understands a science idea but cannot express it clearly in English will lose marks in physics and history as well as in English itself. This matters for a Gorakhpur child who speaks Hindi at home, which is no disadvantage in understanding but needs steady writing practice. A good tutor sets one short written answer every session, reads it aloud with the child, and rewrites one sentence together. Over a term, that habit does more than any amount of reading. Our English home tutors in Gorakhpur page covers the English papers themselves.

ISC in Classes 11 and 12: rules to know before choosing

  • How many subjects: English for all, plus three to five electives, no more than six subjects in total.
  • Choices lock early: after a date the regulations set in the Class 11 registration year, subjects cannot be changed, and a Class 12 subject must have been studied in Class 11.
  • Promotion to Class 12: 35% in four subjects including English, and 75% attendance.
  • Practicals: compulsory wherever a subject has them; Physics cannot be paired with Engineering Science.
  • The certificate: grades run from 1 to 9; a pass needs four subjects including English, plus Socially Useful Productive Work and Community Service.

ISC Mathematics pairs an 80-mark theory paper with 20 marks of project work in each year. The ISC maths tutor page and our ICSE and ISC maths guide look at the paper closely.

Keeping ISC and entrance work in step

The ISC science and maths courses are broad, and their chapter order differs from the NCERT books that the JEE and NEET syllabi follow. A student aiming at either exam should ask the tutor, at the start of Class 11, for a two-column map: ISC chapters on one side, the matching entrance chapters on the other, with the weeks when each is covered at school. The map shows where extra entrance practice is needed and where the ISC course already does the job. See the JEE and NEET home tutor pages for Gorakhpur.

The CISCE years, one at a time

Classes 6 to 8

Build the writing habit now. Short paragraph answers in science and history, checked each week, make Class 9 far easier.

Classes 9 and 10

Revise in rounds across the two years, returning to each chapter three times rather than once. Keep internal work and practical files on schedule.

Classes 11 and 12

Choose electives with the rules in mind, keep projects moving from the first term, and plan Class 12 around the practicals and the theory papers together.

Four more CISCE subjects, and what each needs

Four CISCE subjects and the tutor’s first job
SubjectWhere marks usually goTutor's first job
History, Civics & GeographyLong answers that run out of order, and map work left to the endA plan for each answer before writing, and maps practised every week
Second language (often Hindi)Composition and grammar sections treated as easyTimed compositions, marked for structure as well as language
Computer ApplicationsPrograms that run but are not explainedWriting the logic in words before writing the code
Commercial Studies or EconomicsDefinitions given looselyExact terms, with an example from daily life for each

If two or three subjects need help, one tutor for the sciences and another for languages and humanities is often a better split than one tutor for everything.

How ICSE tutors reach six Gorakhpur localities

  • Basharatpur, on the northern side, has families following CISCE as well as other boards. Ask the tutor which ICSE or ISC classes they have taught, and name the colony on the first call.
  • Rapti Nagar is laid out in phases; give the phase, block and house number first. Families new to the area may be settling a child into a new school, so tell the tutor what was taught before.
  • Asuran is reached through Asuran Chowk. Where a child also attends coaching, the tutor can take the school subjects coaching leaves out, such as English or History, Civics & Geography.
  • Taramandal is on the Ramgarh Tal side. Senior ISC science students here often have JEE or NEET in view as well, so ask for the two-column chapter map.
  • Mohaddipur lies east of the centre on the main road; agree how the tutor will report progress if both parents work.
  • Kunraghat is further east. A child joining an ICSE school from another board needs the gap chapters found and taught in the first weeks.

The Asuran and Rapti Nagar and Taramandal and East Gorakhpur zone pages go further, every locality is on the Gorakhpur home tutors page, and our Gorakhpur home tuition guide covers timing.

After Class 10: staying with CISCE or moving

Some ICSE students in Gorakhpur continue to ISC; others move to CBSE or the UP Board for Class 11. Either path works, but a move needs planning. The new board will order chapters differently, may ask shorter or more objective questions, and in the UP Board's case may use Hindi terms in its documents. A tutor can spend the weeks between the Class 10 result and the new session on the new board's first chapters and its paper style. Our guides to CBSE and UP Board tutors in Gorakhpur describe those boards.

Home or online for ICSE in Gorakhpur?

Fewer tutors teach ISC electives than school maths, so for a subject such as Computer Science or an ISC language, an online specialist from another city may be the better match. Home visits suit younger children, long written answers that need marking at the table, and maths. One tutor across both formats keeps the plan in one place. See online tutors for Gorakhpur.

Testing a tutor against the CISCE style

  1. Ask the tutor to mark one of your child's long answers and explain each mark lost.
  2. Ask which specimen paper they would use for your child's class this year.
  3. Ask how they would plan revision in rounds across Classes 9 and 10.
  4. For ISC, ask how they would support the project work without doing it.
  5. Ask whether they can keep a fixed weekly slot from where they live.

ICSE Home Tutor in Gorakhpur (ICSE & ISC, Classes 6–12): common questions

What does an ICSE or ISC home tutor in Gorakhpur charge?

Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Each ICSE or ISC tutor in Gorakhpur sets their own fee, and you see it before the demo class is booked.

How can a Gorakhpur family book an ICSE tutor through NXTutors?

A Gorakhpur family can book an ICSE tutor by sending the class, ICSE or ISC subjects, any electives and the locality with a landmark. We send two or three matched tutors and show each fee first. The first class is a free demo, and switching tutor later is free.

How are ICSE Class 10 subjects grouped for Gorakhpur students?

ICSE Class 10 subjects fall into three groups for Gorakhpur students, as for all CISCE candidates. Group I is compulsory, Group II takes two or three subjects, and both split marks 80 for the paper and 20 internal. Group III is one applied subject, split 50 and 50.

Are ICSE physics, chemistry and biology separate papers for a Gorakhpur Class 10 student?

Yes, ICSE physics, chemistry and biology are three separate 80-mark papers for a Gorakhpur Class 10 student, each with 20 internal marks for practical work. Because each paper stands alone, a strong subject cannot cover a weak one, so the tutor should plan revision for all three.

Why does English matter so much for ICSE students in Gorakhpur?

English matters for ICSE students in Gorakhpur because CISCE answers are long and written in every subject, not just English. A child who understands physics or history but writes unclearly still loses marks. A tutor should set one short written answer each session and rewrite a sentence together.

When are ISC subject choices fixed for a Gorakhpur student?

ISC subject choices are fixed for a Gorakhpur student after a date set by the regulations in the Class 11 registration year. After that, subjects cannot be changed, and any Class 12 subject must have been studied in Class 11. Choose English plus three to five electives with care.

How should a Gorakhpur ISC student plan for JEE or NEET alongside school?

A Gorakhpur ISC student planning for JEE or NEET should ask the tutor for a two-column chapter map at the start of Class 11. ISC chapters sit on one side and the matching entrance chapters on the other, with school weeks marked, showing where extra entrance practice is needed.

Can a Gorakhpur student move from ICSE to CBSE or the UP Board after Class 10?

Yes, a Gorakhpur student can move from ICSE to CBSE or the UP Board after Class 10, with some planning. The new board orders chapters differently and uses a different paper style, and UP Board documents use many Hindi terms. A tutor can cover the first chapters before the new session.

How do ICSE tutors reach Rapti Nagar, Taramandal or Kunraghat in Gorakhpur?

ICSE tutors reach Rapti Nagar on the northern side once you give the phase, block and house number. Taramandal is on the Ramgarh Tal side, and Kunraghat lies further east. Share the colony and a landmark, and use online lessons for an ISC elective whose specialist lives elsewhere.

What is a good test of an ICSE tutor at a Gorakhpur demo class?

A good test at a Gorakhpur demo is to ask the ICSE tutor to mark one of your child's long answers and explain each lost mark. Also ask which specimen paper they would use this year, and how they would support ISC project work without doing it for your child.
