Tutors who join go through an ID check. Tell us the class, board and your area: we share two or three matched tutors, each with their fee, and the first class is a free demo, at home or online.
Book a free demo classAcross NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Tutors set their own fee, and you see each tutor's fee before the demo class.
Monthly example: 3 one-hour classes a week ≈ ₹9,600–₹32,500 a month (12–13 classes at ₹800–₹2,500 an hour). An example, not a quote: your tutor's own fee decides the real figure.

A three-year-old in Aliganj and a five-year-old in Sushant Golf City need the same few things from an early-years tutor: someone warm, someone who keeps the session short, and someone who turns sounds, shapes and counting into a game rather than a worksheet. What differs across Lucknow is everything around the lesson, from the language spoken at home and the school's medium to whether the tutor rings a doorbell on a plotted lane or waits at a township gate. This page, from the NXTutors Academic Team, explains what a good Nursery or KG tutor does, how much is enough, how to arrange visits in each part of the city, and what to watch for in the free demo.
Most children of this age do not need tuition in the school sense. They need talk, stories, songs, crayons and an adult who pays attention. A tutor earns a place when one of these is true:
If none of these fits, a tutor is optional. Ten minutes of reading together every night will do more than an extra hour of drills.
| Stage | Talk and listening | Early number | Hands and body | Session length |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Nursery (about 3) | Naming things around the house, rhymes in Hindi and English, following a two-step instruction | Counting objects to five, sorting by colour and size | Tearing paper, playdough, big crayons, scribbling with purpose | 20 to 30 minutes |
| LKG (about 4) | Retelling a short picture story, hearing the first sound of a word | Numbers to ten with real objects, more and fewer, simple patterns | Holding a pencil with three fingers, cutting along a thick line | 30 to 40 minutes |
| UKG (about 5) | Blending sounds into short words, reading a few common words, speaking in full sentences | Numbers to twenty and beyond, adding and taking away with objects, shapes in the room | Forming letters and numerals the right way round, colouring inside lines | 40 to 45 minutes, with a break |
Look for variety inside each session: a song to start, a story, something to build or sort, a little writing, and a game to finish. Twenty minutes of sitting at a table is too long at three; the tutor should move with the child, onto the floor, to the window, to the kitchen to count spoons. The point is a child who looks forward to the visit, not a full notebook.
Lucknow families raise young children in Hindi, Urdu, English and often a mix of them, and the city's schools teach through Hindi or English. In the early years that is a strength, not a problem. A tutor should build vocabulary in the home language and in the school's language side by side, rather than telling parents to drop one. Rhymes, picture books and everyday naming work in both.
The board question is still years away. Lucknow students later sit CBSE, CISCE's ICSE and ISC, the UP Board or, for a smaller group, IB and Cambridge. None of them sets a syllabus for Nursery or KG that a tutor must chase. The UP Board, run by the Madhyamik Shiksha Parishad, Uttar Pradesh, publishes syllabi only from Class 9 onwards; for younger children, the school's own books and activities are the guide. If you want to see where the road leads, our pages on CBSE, ICSE and ISC and UP Board tutors in Lucknow set out each route.
One practical tip: ask the school for its term plan or theme list for KG. A tutor who knows the class is doing "fruits", "my family" or "transport" this month can echo the theme at home, which children notice and enjoy.
Some Lucknow children start in schools that follow an international early-years framework. Both of the main ones put play at the centre:
For a tutor, the lesson is the same: follow the child's curiosity, talk a lot, and keep pencil work brief. If your child is in such a school, a tutor who can ask "what do you notice?" and wait for the answer suits better than one who brings a stack of tracing sheets. Our IB tutors in Lucknow page covers the later years of that programme.
With a young child, reliability matters more than anything; a tutor who arrives at the same time every week becomes part of the routine. A half-hour lesson also means the trip is often longer than the class, so a tutor from your own neighbourhood is usually the right choice. How that plays out by zone:
| Zone | What the home usually looks like | A slot that tends to hold |
|---|---|---|
| Gomti Nagar, Indira Nagar and Chinhat | Plotted houses in the khands and blocks; towers with gate passes in the Extension | Mid-afternoon, before office traffic on Shaheed Path and the commercial roads |
| Mahanagar, Aliganj and Jankipuram | Independent houses on sector lanes, with parking at the door | Soon after the child's nap, with a tutor from the same side of the Ring Road |
| Hazratganj, Lalbagh and Aminabad | Flats above shops or in older buildings, often without a lift or guard | Weekday afternoon or weekend morning, before the market crowds build |
| Alambagh, Ashiyana and Rajajipuram | Plotted sectors and lettered blocks; a few gated complexes | Any hour that keeps the tutor off Kanpur Road at its peak |
| Sushant Golf City, Vrindavan Yojana and Telibagh | Gated towers in the township; houses in Telibagh and much of Vrindavan Yojana | A fixed afternoon after the school run on Raebareli Road has eased |
Before the first visit, tell the guard the tutor's name if you live in a tower, or send a map pin and a landmark if you live on a lane. Keep the session in a shared room, with a parent or grandparent nearby. A small child settles faster when a familiar adult is within sight for the first few weeks.
Only in small doses. Screens do not suit the touching, sorting and moving that early learning depends on, and few young children hold attention on a video call for more than a quarter of an hour. Online can still help in three cases: a short story-reading or phonics session when the tutor cannot travel, a top-up while the family is away, or a bridge when the only tutor who speaks the family's home language lives across the city. In each case an adult should sit beside the child and handle the materials. For everything else, choose a tutor who comes to the house. Our comparison of home and online tutors explains the trade-offs in more detail.
The first class is free. With a young child, watch the tutor more than the child's output:
If the demo feels wrong, we arrange a demo with another tutor from your shortlist, and changing tutor later is free. Tutors who join go through an ID check before their profile is marked Verified. Our demo class checklist has more questions.
Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Early-years lessons generally sit at the lower end of that range, and because sessions run shorter than an hour, many tutors quote a per-visit rate. The number of visits a week and the length of the trip to your home also shape the figure. Each tutor sets their own fee, and you see it on the shortlist before the demo. The pricing guide and our article on home tuition fees in Lucknow go into more detail.
In Mahanagar, an older colony of houses, villas and a few apartment buildings, a tutor from Nirala Nagar or Kapoorthala can usually walk or ride over in minutes, which suits a short visit. Nishatganj puts market streets in front of quieter lanes; homes in the lanes are easy to reach from IT College station, but say which side of the market you are on. Out east, Chinhat has independent houses in its older pockets and townships on the Faizabad Road, with no metro, so a tutor living in the same area or in nearby Gomti Nagar is the practical choice.
Aishbagh, in the old centre, has houses that open onto the lane and newer blocks that keep a visitor book; give a landmark, as the streets are dense. On the Kanpur Road side, Krishna Nagar is largely independent houses beside its own Red Line station, so tutors can come by metro from Alambagh or Charbagh. In the south-east, Telibagh is a quiet area of houses on Raebareli Road where a tutor from the neighbourhood or from Vrindavan Yojana keeps an afternoon slot most easily.
When your child moves up, our page on primary home tutors in Lucknow covers Classes 1 to 5. To start, send your child's age and class, the school's medium, the language you speak at home, your locality and the afternoons that are free, and we return two or three matched tutors with their fees. Book a free demo, browse tutor profiles, or find your neighbourhood on home tutors in Lucknow.
Most Nursery and KG children in Lucknow do not need a home tutor for academics. A tutor helps when after-school hours have become screen time, a shy child hardly speaks in class, the school's medium is new to the family, or pencil grip lags. Otherwise, reading together every evening and plenty of play are enough.
To arrange an early-years tutor in Lucknow, send your child's age and class, the school's medium, the home language, your locality and free afternoons. We return two or three matched tutors, each fee shown before the first class. The first class is a free demo, and switching tutor later is free.

A Lucknow LKG session should last about 30 to 40 minutes and a UKG session up to 45 minutes with a break; Nursery needs only 20 to 30. Two or three sessions a week work better than one long one. Each should mix a song, a story, something to build or sort, a little writing and a game.
A UKG child in Lucknow should learn to blend sounds into short words, read a few common words and speak in full sentences with a tutor. Early number covers counting to twenty and adding or taking away with objects. Forming letters and numerals the right way round and colouring inside lines build fine-motor control.
Yes, an early-years tutor in Lucknow can teach in both Hindi and English; say which languages you speak at home and the school's medium. We match tutors comfortable in both, so instructions are understood and vocabulary grows in the home language and school language together. Rhymes, picture books and everyday naming work in both.
A KG tutor in Lucknow has little board syllabus to follow, because CBSE, ICSE and UP Board schools use their own books and themes in the early years. The UP Board's published syllabi begin at Class 9. Share the school's monthly themes, such as fruits or transport, so the tutor can echo them at home.
Online tuition suits a Nursery or KG child in Lucknow only in short, supervised doses, such as a 15-minute story or phonics session when the tutor cannot travel. Young children learn by handling, sorting and moving, which screens cannot replace. An adult should sit beside the child, and home visits should stay the main arrangement.
To let an early-years tutor into a gated Lucknow township, give the guard the tutor's name and number, or add them in the visitor app, before the demo. Share your tower and flat number. Townships along Shaheed Path often issue a pass for regular visitors, so ask in the first week; on a plotted lane, a map pin is enough.
In a free Nursery or KG demo in Lucknow, watch the tutor more than the child's output. In the first five minutes, does the tutor get down to the child's level and use their name? Check easy switching between Hindi and English, a change of activity when attention drifts, specific praise, and one clear strength and target afterwards.
