Tutors who join go through an ID check. Tell us the class, board and your area: we share two or three matched tutors, each with their fee, and the first class is a free demo, at home or online.
Book a free demo classAcross NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Tutors set their own fee, and you see each tutor's fee before the demo class.
Monthly example: 3 one-hour classes a week ≈ ₹9,600–₹32,500 a month (12–13 classes at ₹800–₹2,500 an hour). An example, not a quote: your tutor's own fee decides the real figure.

For most Class 12 students in Lucknow the final year carries two targets: a board result, whether UP Board Intermediate, CBSE, ISC or the IB Diploma, and an entrance score for JEE, NEET or CUET. They share much of the same content but reward different habits, and a tutor who serves one can quietly harm the other. This page is written by Ajay Vatsyayan, our IB, IGCSE and ISC maths author, with the NXTutors Academic Team. It covers what each board weights in Class 12, why board marks still matter, how to run tuition beside coaching, and how to find a tutor who can reach you in the months that count.
The Madhyamik Shiksha Parishad, Uttar Pradesh, conducts the Intermediate examination at the end of the 10+2 stage. Its 2026-27 Class 12 syllabi set out the marks clearly:
| Subject | Structure | Heaviest units |
|---|---|---|
| Maths | 100 marks | Calculus 44; vectors and three-dimensional geometry 18; algebra 15; relations and functions 10; probability 8; linear programming 5 |
| Physics | 70-mark paper + 30 practical; pass 23 + 10 | Optics 13; electrostatics, magnetism, electromagnetic induction and AC, atoms and nuclei, and electronic devices 8 each |
| Biology | 70 written + 30 practical | Genetics and evolution 18; reproduction, biology in human welfare and ecology 14 each; biotechnology 10 |
Calculus alone is 44 of the 100 maths marks, so a UP Board maths tutor who is not confident with integration is a poor fit. The board's model papers give the first 15 minutes for reading the paper; practise using that time to plan which questions to attempt first. Four unit tests at school through the year, outside the result, make useful checkpoints, and there is an Intermediate compartment examination for students who need it. Our UP Board tutors in Lucknow page covers the board in detail.
Yes. JEE Main is held by NTA in two sessions, and the 2026 bulletin's route to admission at many institutes required either 75% in the Class 12 board (65% for SC, ST and PwD candidates) or a place in the top 20 percentile of that board; check the current bulletin each year. NEET UG is held once a year, and its biology and chemistry follow the Class 11 and 12 syllabus closely. CUET UG, used by central and participating universities, tests Class 12 content in its domain subjects. In each case, a weak board year either blocks a route or weakens the entrance score.
By Class 12, specialists usually win. Physics, chemistry and maths each need a teacher who can solve entrance-level problems and also write a model board answer, and few people do that across all three. The exception is a student who needs only steady board-level revision in two subjects; one capable tutor can manage that. Spend first on the subject pulling the total down most. See maths, physics, chemistry and biology tutors in Lucknow, and Class 12 physics.
Coaching runs to its own schedule and rarely waits. A home tutor's job in Class 12 is to keep the student level with it and with the board:
Our JEE and NEET tutors in Lucknow pages explain the entrance side, and our article on coaching versus a home tutor for JEE applies to Lucknow too.
Many UP Board students in Lucknow write the Intermediate paper in Hindi while their coaching material and online resources are in English. That gap is easy to miss and costly in the exam hall: a student who knows the physics can still lose marks when the Hindi terms in the paper do not match the English ones in their notes. Ask for a tutor who can teach in both, who uses the board's Hindi terms when writing board answers, and who builds a short two-column glossary for each chapter. The 2026 JEE Main bulletin offered the paper in 13 languages, Hindi among them, and each year's bulletins for JEE Main and NEET list the languages on offer; decide early, with the tutor, which language your child will take the entrance test in, and practise in that language from the start of the year rather than switching in the final months.
| Stretch | Board work | Entrance work |
|---|---|---|
| April to July | The heaviest units first: calculus, optics, genetics, organic chemistry | Coaching modules; weekly backlog clearing |
| August to October | Finish the syllabus; practical file and projects | Mixed problem sets; first full mock tests |
| November to December | Full board papers under time; pre-boards around the new year in many schools | Error analysis from mocks |
| January onwards | Only revision and the board's own timetable | JEE Main sessions and NEET as announced by NTA |
Class 12 specialists are scarce in any single neighbourhood, so the metro matters. A home within reach of a Red Line station, from Munshi Pulia and Indira Nagar in the east, through Badshahnagar and IT College for Mahanagar and Aliganj, the underground stations of Hazratganj and Lalbagh, and down the Kanpur Road side to Amausi, can draw a tutor from anywhere along it. Chinhat, Gomti Nagar Extension, Jankipuram and the Shaheed Path townships have no station; there, combine a nearby tutor for home visits with online lessons from a specialist across the city.
Often, at least in part. Online lessons bring in specialists who live far away and save the evening journey after coaching or school practicals. They need a shared board or a camera over the page so the tutor sees every line of working. Home visits remain better for long timed papers, which the tutor can watch being written, and for students who need someone in the room to stay on task.
If the fit is wrong, another tutor from your shortlist gives a demo, and changing tutor later is free. Tutors who join go through an ID check before parents see their profile.
Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. For Class 12, the subject, board, entrance depth, the tutor's experience and the journey decide a quote. Every fee is set by the tutor and shown on your shortlist before the demo. See the pricing guide and home tuition fees in Lucknow.
Hazratganj, the city's central business district, has its own underground station, which lets a specialist from anywhere on the Red Line arrive by metro; homes are mostly flats above shops, so be ready to call down. Kapoorthala is close to IT College and Vishwavidyalaya stations; parking on the main road is hard, so a tutor arriving by metro or parking in a side lane works better. In Jankipuram Extension, still filling up in some sectors and off the metro, a nearby tutor for one subject and online lessons for another is a common arrangement.
Chinhat, where Shaheed Path meets the Faizabad Road, is reached by road; choose slots away from highway peak hours. Rajajipuram, in blocks A to F, is near Alambagh station and Alamnagar railway station, and also has hostels and paying-guest homes for students living away from family. LDA Colony, in lettered sectors off Kanpur Road, is served by Krishna Nagar station, and its houses make a doorstep visit simple.

For 2026-27 the board's Class 12 maths syllabus carries 100 marks, and calculus alone accounts for 44 of them. Vectors and three-dimensional geometry follow with 18, algebra with 15, relations and functions with 10, probability with 8 and linear programming with 5. A tutor must be strong in integration.
For 2026-27 it is a 70-mark paper plus 30 marks of practicals, and a pass needs 23 and 10. Optics carries 13 marks, the largest single unit, while electrostatics, magnetism, electromagnetic induction with AC, atoms and nuclei, and electronic devices carry 8 each. Practicals deserve real preparation.
Yes. The 2026 JEE Main bulletin linked admission at many institutes to 75% in the Class 12 board (65% for SC, ST and PwD candidates) or a place in the top 20 percentile of that board. Conditions are set each year, so check the current bulletin on jeemain.nta.nic.in.
Usually a specialist for each subject that needs help, because each must solve entrance-level problems and write model board answers. One tutor can manage if the student only needs board-level revision in two subjects. Start with the subject pulling the total down most, then add others if needed.
Yes, if the roles are clear. The tutor clears the week's unsolved coaching problems, sets board-style answers to mark, and keeps practicals and projects on time. When coaching finishes late, a short online doubt session can replace that day's home visit, so the student keeps up without an extra journey.
Yes. ISC has a strong, long-standing following in Lucknow, so tutors with ISC experience are relatively easy to find. In ISC maths, an 80-mark theory paper is joined by a 20-mark project, so ask in the demo how the tutor guides the project while leaving the work to the student.
