Now taking on home, online and hybrid tutors · in Vadapalani, KK Nagar & Porur, Chennai
This zone splits neatly in two for a tutor. At the eastern end, around Vadapalani, Ashok Nagar and KK Nagar, the Green Line and numbered streets make home visits easy. Further west along Arcot Road, through Virugambakkam and Valasaravakkam to Porur, there is no working metro yet, and tutors who live along the road have the advantage.
No open home-tuition requests in Vadapalani, KK Nagar & Porur right now. New family requests appear here as they come in; add Vadapalani, KK Nagar & Porur to your travel areas so they can reach you.
Vadapalani, grown around a late nineteenth-century temple, has apartment buildings and older houses beside studios, shopping centres and a large bus terminus. Ashok Nagar was established in 1964, and KK Nagar was developed in the 1970s and early 1980s as a grid of rectangular sectors, each with a park near the centre; the Tamil Nadu Housing Board built middle-income flats in both during the 1970s, and today they hold housing-board flats, newer apartments and independent houses on numbered roads. Virugambakkam is colonies of houses and apartment buildings, Valasaravakkam is mostly apartments popular with working professionals, and Porur mixes apartment buildings and older houses near the IT corridor on Mount-Poonamallee Road, which has become one of the city's important IT stretches.
Vadapalani and Ashok Nagar stations opened on 29 June 2015 on the first Green Line section from Koyambedu to Alandur, and the Inner Ring Road runs north to Koyambedu and south to Kathipara. Ashok Nagar station is the nearest stop for both Ashok Nagar and KK Nagar.
Beyond Vadapalani, homes wait for the Yellow Line from Poonamallee to Vadapalani, with stations including Porur Junction, Valasaravakkam, Alwarthirunagar and Virugambakkam South, which is still under construction. For now, a tutor heading to Virugambakkam, Valasaravakkam or Porur takes a bus up Arcot Road, or rides the Green Line to Vadapalani and covers the rest by auto.
Chennai families study under the Tamil Nadu State Board, which sets the SSLC in Class 10 and the +2 at the end of Class 12, as well as CBSE, ICSE and ISC, and IB or IGCSE. The zone research mentions online tutors for subjects that are hard to find locally, which suggests where an online offer helps. Name your boards and classes exactly; for state board work, say whether you teach the Tamil or English version of the papers.
NXTutors orders tutors for Vadapalani, Ashok Nagar, KK Nagar, Virugambakkam, Valasaravakkam and Porur by distance: those who live in the zone first, then tutors who already travel here, then other parts of Chennai, then online tutors. Two or three are sent. Tutors who live along Arcot Road or in Porur suit the western side; tutors near the Green Line suit the eastern side. List the part you can reliably reach.
KK Nagar's sectors and streets are numbered, and Ashok Nagar has a road-numbering system, so a first-time visitor finds the house quickly; ask for the sector or road number. In a block of flats, expect the watchman to note your visit; at a house, simply ring the bell. Valasaravakkam's apartment buildings usually ask for your name at the entrance, so ask the family to tell security before the demo.
In Porur, ask whether the family lives closer to Arcot Road, Mount-Poonamallee Road or Kundrathur Road; each approaches the junction from a different side, and knowing which one saves time on the first trip. In Virugambakkam's colonies, the colony name and a landmark do the same job.
Arcot Road clogs when offices close. At Porur Junction, three main roads, Arcot Road, Mount-Poonamallee Road and Kundrathur Road, converge, and the Chennai Bypass crosses nearby, so traffic backs up whenever offices open or close. With Porur's metro stations still under construction, every tutor comes by road, so late-afternoon or weekend lessons keep the routine steadier. At the eastern end, a tutor arriving by metro is less affected, but the Inner Ring Road is still busy at office hours.
A tutor at the eastern end can fit two lessons in an evening by using neighbouring stations, such as Vadapalani and Ashok Nagar, without touching Arcot Road.

A family request that fits your subjects, classes, board, areas and hours reaches your dashboard. Opening the family's contact details uses lead credits, and the credit price is shown on the request before you open it. At most 5 tutors can open one request, and a request stays open for 7 days. Credit packs are there if you need more.
You set your own fee. When a family pays for classes through NXTutors, you receive 50% of the fee for home tuition in the first month and the full fee after that, and 70% of the fee for online tuition every month. Payments are held for 7 days, then paid out weekly. How you get paid.
Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more.
Not yet. Its Yellow Line station is under construction. Ride the Green Line to Vadapalani and take an auto, or use the buses on Arcot Road.
Yes. The sectors and streets are numbered, and Ashok Nagar uses road numbers, so a first visit rarely involves a search. Ashok Nagar station is the nearest stop.
Three main roads meet there and the Chennai Bypass crosses nearby, so it backs up at office hours. Schedule lessons outside those times or move some sessions online.
No. Joining is free. You set your own fee, which families see before the free demo, and the section below explains how leads and credits work.
Only if you can reach both on a weekday. A tutor near Vadapalani may cover KK Nagar and Ashok Nagar easily but find Porur slow by road; online lessons can cover the rest.
Those looking for a subject that is hard to find locally, and those on the western side of Arcot Road on evenings when Porur Junction is jammed. Online tutors are shown after local and travelling ones.
