Now taking on home, online and hybrid tutors · in Velachery, Guindy & Tambaram, Chennai
Three rail systems, one long zone. The Metro Blue Line, the MRTS and the suburban trains on GST Road each serve a different part of the stretch from Guindy down to Tambaram, and a tutor who knows which one runs past their own door can work a surprisingly large share of it. The parts no train reaches yet, Medavakkam and Pallikaranai, belong to tutors who live close by.
No open home-tuition requests in Velachery, Guindy & Tambaram right now. New family requests appear here as they come in; add Velachery, Guindy & Tambaram to your travel areas so they can reach you.
Guindy's homes sit in residential pockets between an industrial estate, a national park and institutional campuses. Velachery mixes apartment complexes with independent houses, and Madipakkam, around its lake, is low-rise flats and houses on plotted streets. Nanganallur, near the airport and known for its temples, has flats by local builders, independent houses and builder floors. Pallikaranai, beside its protected marsh, ranges from apartment complexes and gated communities to villas and plots; Medavakkam adds apartments, houses and plotted layouts; and Chromepet and Tambaram mix older houses and layouts with newer apartment complexes. Tambaram has had its own city municipal corporation since 3 November 2021.
The Blue Line stations at Little Mount, Guindy, Alandur, Nanganallur Road, Meenambakkam and Chennai Airport opened on 21 September 2016, and St Thomas Mount on the Green Line followed on 14 October 2016. The MRTS reached Velachery on 19 November 2007, and commercial service on its extension through Puzhuthivakkam and Adambakkam to St Thomas Mount began on 14 March 2026, which makes Puzhuthivakkam and Velachery the nearest rail points for Madipakkam. Suburban trains run down GST Road, now part of National Highway 32, through Pazhavanthangal and Chromepet to Tambaram, one of the four main railway terminals in the Chennai area.
Medavakkam and Pallikaranai still wait for rail. Red Line stations including Adambakkam, Madipakkam, Kilkattalai, Medavakkam and Perumbakkam are under construction, so tutors there come by two-wheeler, bus or cab from Velachery, Madipakkam or the OMR.
Chennai families ask for help with the Tamil Nadu State Board's SSLC and Higher Secondary (+2) examinations, CBSE, ICSE and ISC, and IB or IGCSE. Nothing in the zone research ranks them by locality, so the useful step is a clear profile: board, classes, subjects, and for the state board whether you teach the Tamil or English version of the papers.
NXTutors searches this long zone nearest first: tutors who live in the family's part of it, from Guindy and Velachery to Chromepet and Tambaram, then tutors who already travel here, then the rest of Chennai, then online tutors. Two or three reach the family. Because distances inside the zone vary so much, name the specific localities you can reach rather than the whole zone; a tutor in Chromepet and one in Guindy serve quite different families.
For many tutors the practical choice is one stretch of rail. A tutor living near Velachery station can cover Velachery, Puzhuthivakkam and Adambakkam on the MRTS; one near Chromepet can cover Chromepet, Pazhavanthangal and Tambaram on the suburban line; one near Guindy can use the Blue Line to Alandur, Nanganallur Road and Meenambakkam. Picking the stretch that matches your home, and saying so on your profile, gives families a quick sense of how reliably you can reach them.
Gated communities in Pallikaranai, Velachery and Tambaram register visitors, and some ask a resident to confirm, so ask the family to share your details before the first visit. Houses in Madipakkam's plotted streets, Nanganallur and older Chromepet layouts are doorstep visits. Ask for the locality and nearest station with every address, which tells you how long the last leg will take.
The Kathipara interchange, where the main road from the city centre, Mount–Poonamallee Road, the Inner Ring Road, 100 Feet Road and GST Road meet, carries some of the heaviest traffic in the city. The Vijayanagar junction in Velachery and GST Road are heavy at office hours too. Set lessons just before or after the rush rather than inside it. A tutor on the train avoids much of this, but the auto from the station still meets the traffic near the junctions.
Weekend mornings are another option across the zone.

A family request that fits your subjects, classes, board, areas and hours reaches your dashboard. Opening the family's contact details uses lead credits, and the credit price is shown on the request before you open it. At most 5 tutors can open one request, and a request stays open for 7 days. Credit packs are there if you need more.
You set your own fee. When a family pays for classes through NXTutors, you receive 50% of the fee for home tuition in the first month and the full fee after that, and 70% of the fee for online tuition every month. Payments are held for 7 days, then paid out weekly. How you get paid.
Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more.
Use the MRTS to Puzhuthivakkam or Velachery and take an auto or bus for the last leg. A tutor from Velachery or Nanganallur can also simply come by two-wheeler.
Yes. Both are on the suburban line along GST Road, with frequent trains towards Guindy and Mambalam. Walk or take an auto from the station.
Usually not. It runs from Guindy to Tambaram, and Medavakkam and Pallikaranai have no station. List the localities you can reach on a weekday evening and offer online lessons to the rest.
You do. Families see it on your profile before the free demo, and joining is free. The section below covers leads, credits and payment.
Ask them to register you with the community's security, as some gated communities need a resident's confirmation. Ask for the block and flat number too.
