On the Tamil Nadu State Board, the +2 biology paper is really two halves. In the Directorate's sample papers, Biology is 70 marks split into Bio-Botany and Bio-Zoology, 35 each, written in separate answer books with their own one-mark, short and 5-mark sections. Some schools also offer Botany and Zoology as separate papers. So the first question a Chennai parent asks a biology tutor is often: which half are you stronger in?

State Board families want a tutor who teaches from the state textbook in the version the student uses, Tamil or English, and prepares labelled diagrams and long answers for both halves of the paper. The practical comes in February, before the theory papers. Families whose school calls itself "Matric" sit the same state papers. Below Class 11, biology sits inside SSLC science, where the 7-mark questions with diagrams reward students who know the textbook's figures by heart.
NEET (UG) drives much of the senior demand. The NTA's 2026 bulletin described 180 questions, 90 of them biology, with four marks for a right answer and one deducted for a wrong one. The NMC syllabus has ten biology units, five from the Class 11 NCERT book and five from Class 12, and questions follow NCERT's wording closely. State Board students therefore need NCERT read alongside the state chapter, with a running list of lines, diagrams and examples that appear in NCERT but not in the school book, tested every week.
CBSE biology students already learn from NCERT, so their tutor's job is precision: closed-book recall, diagrams labelled from memory and timed questions. ISC students have broad overlap but different books and order, and should fix NCERT reading slots from Class 11. IB Biology SL or HL and IGCSE Biology make up a smaller group.
Biology recall works well online, so home visits can be concentrated where you live. Adyar, Besant Nagar and Mylapore is served by the MRTS, with Thirumayilai and Mandaveli for Mylapore, Kasturba Nagar and Indira Nagar for Adyar and Thiruvanmiyur for Besant Nagar, plus Teynampet on the Blue Line for Alwarpet. Mylapore's old houses sit on narrow lanes near the temple tank, so festival days there suit a morning or online session.
Anna Nagar, Kilpauk and Aminjikarai has Green Line stations from Thirumangalam to Shenoy Nagar and Arumbakkam, and the numbered avenues make homes quick to find. Vadapalani and Ashok Nagar are also on the Green Line, while Porur and Arcot Road rely on bus or road. On the OMR, where only Perungudi has a station, biology students often take recall sessions online and a home visit only at the weekend.
For NEET students, a common format is short online recall sessions two or three evenings a week and a longer home session for diagrams and mock review. That keeps Chennai's evening traffic out of most of the week.
Biology parents in Chennai want two answers quickly: can you teach my child's board, and how will NEET fit in? Put both in your headline, for example "State Board +2 Bio-Zoology and Bio-Botany, English version, NEET biology". Mention your line or station and that recall sessions can run online. If you can explain in Tamil, add it.
At the demo, ask ten quick questions from one NCERT chapter and have the student draw and label one structure. Show the parent which NCERT lines were missed and describe your weekly recall routine. The modules below explain leads, credits and how you get paid.
It also helps to show you understand the calendar. On the State Board, the practical comes in February and theory papers from early March, while NEET follows its own notification from NTA. A tutor who plans the year backwards from those points, with diagram revision for the board first and full NEET mocks after, gives parents a reason to keep the same tutor through both. If results disappoint, the Directorate's June or July supplementary examination is open whatever the number of failed subjects, and families who move quickly may want help in those weeks too.

A family request that fits your subjects, classes, board, areas and hours reaches your dashboard. Opening the family's contact details uses lead credits, and the credit price is shown on the request before you open it. At most 5 tutors can open one request, and a request stays open for 7 days. Credit packs are there if you need more.
You set your own fee. When a family pays for classes through NXTutors, you receive 50% of the fee for home tuition in the first month and the full fee after that, and 70% of the fee for online tuition every month. Payments are held for 7 days, then paid out weekly. How you get paid.
Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more.
In the Directorate's sample papers, Biology is one 70-mark paper in two halves, Bio-Botany and Bio-Zoology, each 35 marks in a separate answer book. Some students take Botany and Zoology as separate papers instead.
