Now taking on home, online and hybrid tutors · in Chennai
A Chennai +2 physics student who skipped a chapter has nowhere to hide. In the Directorate's sample paper, the 2-mark and 3-mark sections each carry a compulsory question, and those are often where students lose marks they cannot recover through choice elsewhere. Parents know this, and they look for physics tutors who teach every chapter properly rather than predicting which ones will come.
No open physics requests in Chennai right now. New family requests appear here as they come in; join now so they can reach you.
Joining NXTutors is free. You set your fee, choose home, online or both, and list the zones you can reach by suburban train, MRTS or metro. This page covers physics demand in Chennai, the city's travel and how to win the demo.
State Board Higher Secondary physics, in the Directorate's fifth sample set, is a 70-mark paper: fifteen one-mark questions, any six 2-mark and any six 3-mark questions with one compulsory in each, and five 5-mark questions. The practical examination is held separately in February, before the theory papers that begin in early March. Papers are printed in Tamil and English versions. For Class 11, the Directorate's 2025-26 timetable listed the first-year examination only for arrear candidates, so families check with the school how their batch is assessed; a tutor's Class 11 work still matters, because +2 builds directly on it.
CBSE Class 12 physics is a 70-mark, three-hour paper with a 30-mark practical, and electrostatics through alternating current make up nearly half the theory marks. ISC physics includes practical work and a project. IB Physics at SL or HL and IGCSE physics add specialist requests, often from families along the OMR or in central neighbourhoods.
Entrance exams shape senior physics work. JEE Main gives physics 25 questions with negative marking; NEET gives 45 of 180. The NTA syllabus sits close to NCERT, and its chapter order differs from the State Board books, so State Board students need a written chapter map against the NTA units and objective practice each week, without letting it crowd out the board's own written pattern.
Velachery, Guindy and Tambaram is served by three rail systems: the Blue Line at Guindy and Alandur, the MRTS through Velachery to St Thomas Mount, and suburban trains along GST Road to Chromepet and Tambaram. Kathipara and GST Road are heavy at office hours, so set lessons just before or after the rush. Medavakkam and Pallikaranai have no station yet, so tutors there usually live nearby and ride a two-wheeler.
Vadapalani, KK Nagar and Porur has Green Line stations at Vadapalani and Ashok Nagar and easy-to-navigate numbered sectors in KK Nagar, but west of Vadapalani there is no working metro yet, so homes along Arcot Road and in Porur rely on bus or road travel. Tutors who live along Arcot Road or in Porur suit this side, outside office hours at Porur Junction. Late-afternoon or weekend physics lessons keep to time more easily.
On the coast, the MRTS is the main rail link: Thirumayilai and Mandaveli for Mylapore, Kasturba Nagar and Indira Nagar for Adyar, and Thiruvanmiyur for Besant Nagar, with Teynampet on the Blue Line for Alwarpet. Besant Nagar's beach roads are crowded on weekend evenings, so weekday or morning physics slots suit home visits there. Along the OMR, gated communities often want a resident to approve each visitor, so being added once as a regular guest in the society app saves time at every lesson.
In your profile, connect the board and the entrance clearly: "State Board +2 physics, English version, with NEET physics" or "CBSE Class 12 and JEE Main physics". Mention the line you live on and which zones it gives you; a tutor near the MRTS can serve Adyar, Besant Nagar and Velachery, while one on the Green Line covers Anna Nagar and Vadapalani.
At the demo, read the student's last test and sort lost marks into concept, units, diagram and time. Then try a short compulsory-style question from a chapter the student says they skipped. Show the parent a plan that covers the board pattern first and adds entrance practice. Details on leads, credits and how you get paid are in the modules below.
Applying, onboarding, building your profile, the ID check and receiving matched requests on the Free plan cost nothing. The Free plan gives you 160 lead credits every month.

A family request that fits your subjects, classes, board, areas and hours reaches your dashboard. Opening the family's contact details uses lead credits, and the credit price is shown on the request before you open it. At most 5 tutors can open one request, and a request stays open for 7 days. Credit packs are there if you need more.
You set your own fee. When a family pays for classes through NXTutors, you receive 50% of the fee for home tuition in the first month and the full fee after that, and 70% of the fee for online tuition every month. Payments are held for 7 days, then paid out weekly. How you get paid.
Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more.
In the Directorate's fifth sample set, it is 70 marks: one-mark questions, 2-mark and 3-mark sections with one compulsory each, and five 5-mark questions. The practical is held separately in February.
The Directorate's 2025-26 timetable listed the first-year Higher Secondary exam only for arrear candidates. Families should confirm with the school how their batch is assessed.
Yes, with a chapter map against the NTA syllabus, extra reading where the state book is lighter, and weekly objective practice. Keep the board's written pattern secure.
Those with suburban, MRTS or metro stations, such as Velachery, Guindy, Tambaram, Adyar, Anna Nagar and Vadapalani. Porur, Medavakkam and most of the OMR rely on roads.
Many are open to it. Along the OMR, families who cannot find a specialist nearby are advised to consider an online tutor from elsewhere in India.
If you know both papers, yes. They share much content, but the State Board's compulsory questions, Tamil and English versions and February practical differ from CBSE's 70-mark paper with its 30-mark practical. List both only if you have taught both recently.
