Now taking on home, online and hybrid tutors · in Pune
English in Pune is really several different jobs that happen to share a name. One family in Pimple Saudagar has a Class 3 child who reads slowly. Another in Hadapsar has a Class 9 student who has just moved from a State Board school to CBSE and is meeting longer passages for the first time. A third in Koregaon Park has an ISC candidate whose compositions run out of time. A tutor who can say clearly which of these jobs they do well will be matched far more often than one who writes "English, all classes".

This page is for English graduates, teachers, writers and trainers considering tutoring in Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad. Joining NXTutors is free, and you choose the classes, boards, mode, zones and fee.
State Board families are a large share of English requests. Students learn from the board's prescribed readers through the SSC in Class 10 and, after junior college, the HSC in Class 12, and the board publishes its own paper pattern. The most common weakness tutors meet is an answer that repeats the textbook without addressing the question asked. Many of these students are taught their other subjects in Marathi or another medium, so they meet English mainly in the English period and need vocabulary and sentence patterns built patiently before exam formats.
CBSE, ICSE and ISC students make up the next group. CBSE Class 10 English is one 80-mark board paper, in which literature holds 40, plus 20 internal marks; Class 11 brings longer reading passages and the Hornbill and Snapshots readers. ICSE Class 10 has separate two-hour language and literature papers, and summary writing that copies sentences instead of condensing them is the classic lost mark. ISC students want help with set texts and composition under time.
A smaller group studies Cambridge IGCSE First Language 0500 or Second Language 0510, or IB Language A, and they usually want someone who can explain how a writer builds an effect, not just what the writer says. Pune also has many families who moved here for work; their children sometimes need spoken-English confidence or help adjusting to a new board's written style, and a younger child may need phonics and reading fluency more than grammar.
English lessons are among the easiest to blend, because a good share of the work, such as essays, comprehension and corrections, travels well online. Tutors in Pune often keep one home visit a week and a shorter online session for redrafts. That suits the Wakad, Hinjewadi & Pimpri-Chinchwad zone, where IT-park traffic makes weekday evenings slow, and Aundh, Baner & Pashan, where almost every home is in a gated society that wants your name, tower and flat a day ahead.
For younger children, home lessons matter more, and the zones with easy access help. Kothrud, Karve Nagar & Deccan has the Aqua Line from Vanaz to Deccan Gymkhana and the District Court interchange; Pimpri has PCMC Bhavan on the Purple Line. In Katraj, Bibwewadi & Sinhagad Road, many homes are independent houses or builder floors where you ring at the door, which makes an early after-school slot easy to keep for a tutor living nearby.
Make your English profile specific: "SSC and HSC English readers; CBSE Class 9–12; ICSE language and literature; IGCSE 0500 essays". If you teach spoken English or reading for young children, list that as its own line. Parents in Pune also ask which languages you speak; if you can explain a difficult word in Marathi or Hindi, that helps a State Board student and a family new to the city.
For the demo, ask the student for a recent written answer and work on it together: identify what the question actually asked, rewrite one paragraph, and show the difference. For a younger child, read a short passage aloud with them and note where they stumble. Parents see your fee before the demo, and switching tutor costs them nothing, so the visible improvement in a single answer is what earns the second lesson.
Keep a simple record for each student: the pieces of writing set, the main correction in each, and the redraft. After a month, share it with the parent. Pune families paying for English often find progress hard to see, because it is gradual; a folder of before-and-after answers makes it visible and keeps the weekly slot secure through the prelim season.

A family request that fits your subjects, classes, board, areas and hours reaches your dashboard. Opening the family's contact details uses lead credits, and the credit price is shown on the request before you open it. At most 5 tutors can open one request, and a request stays open for 7 days. Credit packs are there if you need more.
You set your own fee. When a family pays for classes through NXTutors, you receive 50% of the fee for home tuition in the first month and the full fee after that, and 70% of the fee for online tuition every month. Payments are held for 7 days, then paid out weekly. How you get paid.
Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more.
The Maharashtra State Board's SSC and HSC, CBSE, ICSE and ISC, with a smaller group on Cambridge IGCSE or the IB. Each rewards different habits, so list them separately.
Teaching from the prescribed reader, answers that address the question, steady vocabulary building and practice with the board's own paper pattern from mahahsscboard.in.
For older students, often yes: essays, comprehension and redrafts work well online. Families with young children usually want at least one home visit a week.
No, but it helps with Marathi-medium State Board students. Mention any language you can use to explain.
Often. Some families, including those who have moved to Pune for work, ask specifically for spoken confidence. Add it as its own subject if you teach it.
