Now taking on home, online and hybrid tutors · in Pune
A Pune junior-college student taking physics usually carries three timetables at once: the college's own terminal and preliminary exams, the HSC board paper, and an entrance test, often MHT-CET and sometimes JEE or NEET. Physics is where those three pull hardest against each other. The board wants derivations, labelled diagrams and a practical journal; the entrance tests want fast, accurate multiple-choice work with no calculator. Families look for a tutor who can hold both lines without letting either slip.

This page is for physics teachers, engineers and postgraduates considering tutoring in Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad. Joining NXTutors is free. You decide which classes and boards you take, whether you teach at home, online or both, and what you charge.
Most Pune physics requests come from Classes 11 and 12. On the State Board, HSC Physics carries code 54, with a written board paper plus practical marks set out in the board's subject scheme. CBSE students sit physics 042: a three-hour, 70-mark theory paper with 33 compulsory questions and no calculator, plus 30 practical marks. ISC students across Aundh, Koregaon Park and Kalyani Nagar want the CISCE pattern, with its emphasis on complete, organised answers.
MHT-CET shapes the year for many PCM and PCB students. In the 2026 brochure physics and chemistry shared the first 90 minutes, 50 questions each at one mark, with the half closing itself at the 90-minute mark. Ten of the fifty physics questions came from a named Class 11 list: vectors, motion in a plane, laws of motion, gravitation, error analysis, thermal properties of matter, sound, optics, electrostatics and semiconductors. A tutor who teaches those chapters thoroughly in Class 11 saves the family a scramble in Class 12. NEET adds a different rhythm: in 2026 physics supplied 45 of its 180 questions, with negative marking for wrong answers.
Below Class 11, physics requests are fewer and usually come from ICSE families, where physics is its own paper by Class 9 and 10, and from IB and IGCSE students in the Viman Nagar, Kalyani Nagar and Koregaon Park belts who want past-paper practice and command-word discipline. Those international students are a smaller group in Pune, which makes an online offer useful alongside home visits.
Senior physics students rarely have free afternoons, so most lessons fall between 6 and 9 pm or at weekends. That means a tutor's route has to be predictable at the busiest hours. In the Kothrud, Karve Nagar & Deccan zone the Aqua Line and Purple Line meet at District Court, and Shivaji Nagar station puts most of west Pune within one change of Pimpri. Viman Nagar, Kalyani Nagar & Kharadi has Yerwada, Kalyani Nagar and Ramwadi stations up to Viman Nagar, but Kharadi and Wagholi beyond them rely on Nagar Road.
In Aundh, Baner & Pashan and around Hinjewadi and Wakad, there was no working metro at the time our guides were written, and the IT-park traffic makes weekday evenings slow. Families there often settle on one weekend home lesson for new chapters and a shorter online session midweek for numericals. If you can offer that hybrid pattern, say so on your profile; it widens the area you can realistically serve.
Profiles that get shortlisted for physics in Pune name the papers and the entrance tests separately: "HSC Physics 54 and MHT-CET physics; CBSE 042; NEET physics numericals". If you have taught in a junior college or coached for entrance tests, describe what you actually did, without results you cannot prove. State your hours honestly; a family planning around coaching needs to know whether you can do 8 pm.
At the demo, ask to see the student's last two tests before you teach anything. Sort the lost marks into concept, calculation and presentation, then pick one numerical and solve it by hand, naming the law, drawing the situation and checking units. Close with a short plan that shows where MHT-CET or NEET practice fits around the HSC. Parents see your fee before booking, and switching tutor is free for them, so steady progress is what keeps a student with you.
Applying, onboarding, building your profile, the ID check and receiving matched requests on the Free plan cost nothing. The Free plan gives you 160 lead credits every month.
Pro, Premium and Featured are optional platform subscriptions: more visibility, AI tools and more lead credits. They are never a fee to apply for a tuition. See tutor plans.
A family request that fits your subjects, classes, board, areas and hours reaches your dashboard. Opening the family's contact details uses lead credits, and the credit price is shown on the request before you open it. At most 5 tutors can open one request, and a request stays open for 7 days. Credit packs are there if you need more.
You set your own fee. When a family pays for classes through NXTutors, you receive 50% of the fee for home tuition in the first month and the full fee after that, and 70% of the fee for online tuition every month. Payments are held for 7 days, then paid out weekly. How you get paid.
Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more.
State Board students sit HSC Physics 54, CBSE students physics 042, and ISC students CISCE's paper. Many also take MHT-CET, and some JEE Main or NEET. List each one you teach.
In the 2026 syllabus, 10 of the 50 physics questions came from a named Class 11 chapter list. The list can change, so check the current syllabus on cetcell.mahacet.org.
They can be if you live nearby. Without a working metro, traffic decides; many tutors there combine a weekend home lesson with an online midweek session.
Some do, because ICSE examines physics as its own paper. Mention ICSE separately on your profile if you teach it.
Yes. International-board students are a smaller group across Pune's suburbs, so many prefer an online specialist. Prepare from the ibo.org or Cambridge syllabus documents.
