Now taking on home, online and hybrid tutors · in Pune
Pune is the city the Maharashtra State Board is run from, and its maths papers have a shape a tutor has to know cold. The SSC splits mathematics into two separate 40-mark papers, Part I and Part II, each with 20 internal marks, and the HSC Mathematics and Statistics paper is 80 marks in three hours with log tables allowed and calculators barred. A maths tutor who can name those rules without looking them up is already ahead of most applicants in Kothrud, Wakad or Hadapsar.

This page is for maths graduates, engineers, B.Ed teachers and college students who want to teach maths at home in Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad, online, or both. Joining NXTutors is free. You choose the classes, the boards, the suburbs you will ride to and the fee you charge. The live list further down shows whatever real maths requests are open; this text explains what Pune families tend to ask for and how a tutor gets chosen.
The heaviest maths demand in Pune comes from three groups. State Board students in Standards IX and X want someone who treats algebra and geometry as two subjects, because the SSC examines them in separate papers and a weak Part II cannot hide behind a strong Part I. CBSE, ICSE and ISC students across Kothrud, Aundh, Baner and Kharadi make up the second group, usually from Class 8 onwards. The third group is junior-college students in Classes 11 and 12 preparing for the HSC while keeping one eye on MHT-CET.
HSC Mathematics and Statistics comes in two versions with different codes: 40 for arts and science, 88 for commerce. They are different papers, and families will ask which one you teach. The board's scheme for paper 40 has four sections, from two-mark multiple choice up to any five of eight four-mark long answers, and spreads its marks with vectors, line and plane, trigonometric functions and indefinite integration among the heaviest chapters. Only the first attempt at a multiple-choice question is marked, and every section must start on a new page; tutors who teach those habits early save students real marks.
MHT-CET adds a second layer for PCM students. In the 2026 brochure the maths half was 50 questions at two marks each in 90 minutes, with no calculator and no negative marking, after a separate 90-minute physics and chemistry half. About a fifth of the maths questions came from a named Class 11 list: complex numbers, permutations and combinations, functions, limits, continuity, straight line, circle, conic section, trigonometry II and probability. A maths tutor who can teach those chapters properly in Class 11 is useful to the family for two years, not one. Check the current brochure on cetcell.mahacet.org before quoting any number to a parent.
West Pune is the easiest place to build a maths timetable without a vehicle. The Aqua Line runs from Vanaz through Anand Nagar, Paud Phata and Deccan Gymkhana to District Court, where it meets the Purple Line from PCMC Bhavan, so a tutor in Pimpri can reach the Kothrud, Karve Nagar & Deccan zone with one change. Karve Nagar and Warje have no station and are a two-wheeler ride from Kothrud or Erandwane.
The IT suburbs are road-bound. Aundh, Baner & Pashan, and the Hinjewadi and Wakad half of Wakad, Hinjewadi & Pimpri-Chinchwad, had no working metro station when our guides were written, and Baner Road, University Road and the roads around the IT park fill up at the end of the office day. Hadapsar, Kondhwa & NIBM has no metro at all. In all three, the maths tutors who keep a weekly slot are usually the ones who live in the next suburb. If you live in Kharadi or Magarpatta, list your own zone first; a long cross-city ride for a one-hour Class 9 lesson rarely lasts past the monsoon.
Pune parents read profiles for specifics. "Maths, Classes 8 to 12" says little; "SSC Part I and II, HSC Maths and Statistics 40, CBSE Class 10, MHT-CET maths, Kothrud and Warje by two-wheeler, Pimpri online" tells a family in Karve Nagar exactly what they are getting. Add the hours you are genuinely free, because junior-college students in Pune often have coaching until late afternoon and need an evening or weekend slot.
At the free demo, expect to be handed a sample paper. Pick a Section C three-mark question or an SSC geometry construction and teach it as you would in a normal session, writing every step. Mention the first-attempt rule and the new-page rule without being asked. Before you leave, say which chapters you would start with and how you would fit the plan around the college's prelims. Your fee is visible to the parent before the demo, and you can see how you get paid on the tutor terms page.
Applying, onboarding, building your profile, the ID check and receiving matched requests on the Free plan cost nothing. The Free plan gives you 160 lead credits every month.
Pro, Premium and Featured are optional platform subscriptions: more visibility, AI tools and more lead credits. They are never a fee to apply for a tuition. See tutor plans.
A family request that fits your subjects, classes, board, areas and hours reaches your dashboard. Opening the family's contact details uses lead credits, and the credit price is shown on the request before you open it. At most 5 tutors can open one request, and a request stays open for 7 days. Credit packs are there if you need more.
You set your own fee. When a family pays for classes through NXTutors, you receive 50% of the fee for home tuition in the first month and the full fee after that, and 70% of the fee for online tuition every month. Payments are held for 7 days, then paid out weekly. How you get paid.
Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more.
The Maharashtra State Board's SSC and HSC, CBSE, ICSE and ISC, with a smaller group on IB Mathematics or Cambridge IGCSE. List each board and class you teach separately on your profile so the matching can place you correctly.
No. Many families only want board maths. If you do teach MHT-CET, say so, and be ready to explain the calculator-free rule, the separate 90-minute maths half and the Class 11 chapters named in the current State CET Cell syllabus.
Yes. Code 88 is the commerce paper and code 40 the arts and science paper. A commerce student needs statistics, ratios and business applications rather than vectors and 3D geometry, so state clearly which one you take.
Those along the Aqua and Purple Lines: Kothrud, Deccan, Shivajinagar, Pimpri, Kalyani Nagar, Yerwada and Ramwadi. Baner, Hinjewadi, Kharadi, Wagholi and the Hadapsar belt depend on the road and suit tutors living nearby.
Yes. Online requests are matched on subject, board and class rather than your address. A State Board student will still want you to know the SSC or HSC paper pattern from mahahsscboard.in.
Nothing. Joining and onboarding are free and you start on the Free plan with monthly lead credits. Paid plans are optional subscriptions for extra visibility and credits, never a condition for getting tuitions.
