Tutors who join go through an ID check. Tell us the class, board and your area: we share two or three matched tutors, each with their fee, and the first class is a free demo, at home or online.
Book a free demo classAcross NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Tutors set their own fee, and you see each tutor's fee before the demo class.
Monthly example: 3 one-hour classes a week ≈ ₹9,600–₹32,500 a month (12–13 classes at ₹800–₹2,500 an hour). An example, not a quote: your tutor's own fee decides the real figure.

The final school year asks two things at once. There is the board result, II PUC for a Karnataka student, or CBSE, ISC or the IB Diploma for others, and there is the entrance test that opens the next door: KCET, JEE, NEET or CUET. Both draw on the same chapters but reward different habits, and both fall in the same few months. This guide by Ajay Vatsyayan, who writes on senior maths including ISC and IB, and the NXTutors Academic Team, looks at what each board asks in the final year, why board marks still matter, how the year is laid out in Bengaluru, when to use one specialist per subject, and how to choose a tutor who can keep coming through the busiest months.
| Board | What is officially stated | What the tutor focuses on |
|---|---|---|
| Karnataka II PUC | The examination is conducted by the Karnataka School Examination and Assessment Board, and its 2026 notices refer to II PUC Exam-1. The pre-university department publishes model question papers, which it says are for practice only and do not predict the annual paper, and lesson-based assessment material | The prescribed textbook, every chapter in the split-up, and the board's current scheme read from its own circulars |
| CBSE | Mathematics 80 theory plus 20 internal; physics and chemistry 70 theory plus 30 practical | NCERT exercises and examples, case-based questions, and practical records |
| ISC | Mathematics (860) has an 80-mark paper and a 20-mark project; all seven units are compulsory with no Section B or C for 2027 and 2028; calculus carries 35 of the 80 marks; a visiting examiner holds the project viva | Calculus depth, fully written working, and a project the student can defend |
| IB Diploma, second year | Each subject is graded 1 to 7, the Extended Essay and TOK add up to 3 points, 45 is the maximum and 24 points is among the pass conditions; the maths exploration is worth 20%; the revised Extended Essay, first assessed in May 2027, is up to 4,000 words with a 500-word reflective statement | Paper practice against markschemes, and feedback on internal assessment without writing it |

Because the entrance route itself often depends on them. The JEE (Main) 2026 bulletin, for example, set a Class 12 performance condition for some admissions: 75% aggregate, or 65% for SC, ST and PwD candidates, or a place in the highest 20 percentile of the student's board. JEE (Advanced) 2026 was open only to the first 2,50,000 JEE (Main) candidates. KCET admission runs through the Karnataka Examinations Authority, whose current bulletin sets out its eligibility conditions, including any requirement on qualifying-exam marks; read it rather than relying on what older students remember. NEET (UG) is a single NTA exam, and CUET (UG) is used for admission to Central and participating universities. In every case, the official website for the current year is the only reliable source.
The practical point: a student who neglects the board for the entrance test can lose eligibility, and one who neglects the entrance test for the board loses the seat. A tutor should plan for both.
CBSE sessions start in April, while the Karnataka board sets its own II PUC timetable each year and IB and Cambridge students follow the May series. Most final years in the city still move through five stretches:
| Months | What is happening | What the tutor does |
|---|---|---|
| April to June | New books and the summer break | Close first-year gaps; get ahead in the heaviest chapters |
| July to September | Weekly classes alongside school or college; first-term tests | Chapter tests, a mistakes log, and entrance-style questions on finished topics |
| October to December | Syllabus completion; preliminary or pre-board exams around the new year | Timed board papers; projects and practicals wrapped up |
| January to March | Sample papers and board exams; the first JEE Main session usually falls here | Short, targeted sessions on weak chapters; no new material |
| April to May | The second JEE Main session, JEE Advanced, NEET UG and the May IB and Cambridge papers | Mock tests and review of errors for each remaining exam |
Confirm every Karnataka date, for II PUC and KCET, from the board's and KEA's official notices.
In earlier classes one tutor can cover several subjects. In the final year the depth needed in each paper, and the entrance layer on top, make that hard to do well. A maths specialist knows where integration problems go wrong; a chemistry specialist can separate organic mechanisms from inorganic memory work; a physics specialist can show how a board derivation becomes an entrance numerical. Pick the one or two subjects that are weakest or matter most for the target course, and find a specialist for each. Our Class 12 physics strategies and organic and inorganic chemistry guides show the kind of depth to expect.
Often, yes, but with a clear job. Coaching sets a fast pace for a large group; the tutor's role is to catch what the group leaves behind. In practice that means three things each week: going through the coaching test and its wrong answers, finishing the sheets that were skipped, and converting entrance understanding into full board answers. A tutor who simply repeats the coaching lecture adds hours without adding marks. Our comparison of coaching and a home tutor for JEE sets out the trade-offs, and the KCET tutors in Bengaluru page covers the state test.
| Zone | Typical way in | Timing |
|---|---|---|
| Koramangala, HSR & Bellandur | By road from HSR Layout, Sarjapur Road or Marathahalli; no metro in Bellandur yet | After the evening peak on the ORR, or at the weekend |
| Hebbal, RT Nagar & Yelahanka | Bus, two-wheeler or train to Yelahanka Junction | Airport traffic on Bellary Road favours a tutor from Yelahanka itself |
| Whitefield, Marathahalli & KR Puram | Purple Line to Kundalahalli for the Brookefield side | Between school hours and the evening rush on ITPL Road |
| Indiranagar & Old Airport Road | Purple Line to Indiranagar or Swami Vivekananda Road | Before the evening crowd on 100 Feet Road and CMH Road |
| Frazer Town, Richmond Town & Ulsoor | By road, or Purple Line and an auto; Pottery Town station is still being built | Afternoon or early evening, before the shopping streets fill |
| BTM, Bannerghatta Road & Electronic City | By road on Bannerghatta Road, or the Yellow Line and an auto | Outside office rush on the main road |
By Class 12 most students can work productively online, and in the months of board exams and entrance tests online saves the hour that travel would take. It also widens the choice for narrow needs, such as ISC maths projects, IB HL physics or advanced JEE problems. Home visits still help students who lose focus on screens and for long timed papers that a tutor wants to watch. A common pattern is a weekend home session for full papers and two shorter online sessions for doubts. See our online tutoring for Bengaluru students page.
The first class with the tutor you choose is a free demo. If it does not work, the next shortlisted tutor gives their own, and switching later is free. Tutors who join go through an ID check before their profile is marked Verified.
Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Final-year tuition usually sits in the upper part of that range, and entrance-level specialists can go beyond it. The board, subject, depth of entrance work, travel at your hour and the number of sessions set each quote. Every tutor sets their own fee and you see it before the demo. See our pricing guide and the Bengaluru fees guide.
Bellandur has no operating metro station yet, so tutors come by road; most homes are gated apartments, where the tower and flat number should reach security in advance. Yelahanka has a railway junction and, in the New Town, houses where the tutor comes straight to the door. Brookefield is reached through Kundalahalli station on the Purple Line, with weekday sessions easiest to fit in before the evening rush.
Indiranagar has two Purple Line stations, so a metro tutor has only a short walk. Frazer Town has no open station yet; tutors come by road or by Purple Line and an auto. Along Bannerghatta Road, the Pink Line is built but not yet open, so most tutors still travel by road.

The II PUC examination for Bengaluru students is conducted by the Karnataka School Examination and Assessment Board, which also runs the SSLC. Its 2026 notices refer to II PUC Exam-1. The pre-university department's model question papers are for practice only and do not predict the annual paper, so read official circulars.
Yes, Class 12 board marks matter for a Bengaluru student preparing for KCET, JEE or NEET, because entrance routes often depend on them. The JEE Main 2026 bulletin set a condition of 75% aggregate, 65% for SC, ST and PwD candidates, or the board's highest 20 percentile. KCET eligibility is in KEA's current bulletin.
A Bengaluru Class 12 student rarely does well with one tutor for all subjects, because each paper needs depth plus an entrance layer. Choose the one or two subjects that are weakest or matter most for the target course and find a specialist for each, leaving time for coaching, college and independent practice.
A Class 12 home tutor in Bengaluru can work alongside JEE, NEET or KCET coaching if the job is clear. Each week the tutor reviews the coaching test and its wrong answers, finishes skipped sheets, and turns entrance understanding into full board answers. Repeating the coaching lecture adds hours without adding marks.
An ISC Class 12 maths tutor in Bengaluru must know that all seven units are compulsory for 2027 and 2028, with no Section B or C. Calculus carries 35 of the 80 theory marks, and a 20-mark project is examined with a viva by a visiting examiner. Fully written working is expected throughout.
For Bengaluru IB Diploma students, each final-year subject is graded 1 to 7, and the Extended Essay and TOK add up to 3 points. The maximum is 45, and at least 24 points is among the pass conditions. A tutor gives feedback on internal assessment and the essay but never writes them.
A Bengaluru Class 12 student should ideally start with a tutor when the new books arrive, while there is time to close first-year gaps before the heaviest chapters. Starting later still helps with timed papers and technique for the board and entrance tests, but leaves little room to rebuild weak foundations.
Online tuition is often a good idea for Bengaluru Class 12 students, because it saves travel time in the board and entrance months. It also opens narrow specialists such as IB HL physics or advanced JEE maths. Keep a weekend home session for full timed papers if your child loses focus on screen. Test the setup in the free demo.
In a Bengaluru Class 12 demo, ask which parts of a chapter come up in the board paper and which in KCET, JEE or NEET. Ask how the tutor will use coaching test results, when the first full board paper will be set, and what happens in the last six weeks before the exam.
Tell us the class, board and your area. We share two or three matched tutors, and the first class is a free demo.
