Tutors who join go through an ID check. Tell us the class, board and your area: we share two or three matched tutors, each with their fee, and the first class is a free demo, at home or online.
Book a free demo classAcross NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Tutors set their own fee, and you see each tutor's fee before the demo class.
Monthly example: 3 one-hour classes a week ≈ ₹9,600–₹32,500 a month (12–13 classes at ₹800–₹2,500 an hour). An example, not a quote: your tutor's own fee decides the real figure.

Economics in Bengaluru is taught under at least five different rulebooks. A commerce or arts student in second PUC, a CBSE Class 12 student with a 4,000-word project, an ISC candidate answering 12-mark questions, an AS Level student writing data responses and an IB Diploma student building a portfolio of news commentaries are all "doing economics", yet each needs a tutor who knows that particular exam. This page explains how those courses differ, how a tutor reaches each part of the city, and when online lessons are the better route. The board-by-board detail lives on our national economics home tutor guide.
| Course | Shape of the assessment | The tutor should be at home with |
|---|---|---|
| Karnataka PUC economics | State board textbooks and papers for first and second PUC | The current PUC textbook and the board's model papers |
| CBSE Economics (030), Classes 11–12 | 80-mark theory paper plus a 20-mark project each year | Statistics and national income numericals, and project viva practice |
| ISC Economics (856) | 80-mark paper: 20 marks of short answers, then five 12-mark questions from eight; two 10-mark projects | Full-length answers written to time |
| Cambridge IGCSE Economics (0455) | A 40-question multiple-choice paper (30%) and a two-hour structured paper (70%) | Short structured answers built on exact terms |
| Cambridge AS and A Level Economics (9708) | Multiple choice plus data response and essays; A Level essays are unstructured | Essay planning and evaluation |
| IB Economics SL and HL | Papers 1 and 2 for both, Paper 3 for HL only, and an internal assessment portfolio | The IA criteria and the HL policy paper |
If your child takes accountancy as well, see our accountancy home tutors in Bengaluru; some tutors teach both, though a specialist in the weaker subject is often the better choice.
After the SSLC, many Bengaluru students stay with the state board for the pre-university course, and economics appears in commerce combinations and in arts combinations. We describe the course only in general terms: the paper's design and the exam timetable are set out in the Karnataka board's own notices, which is what a tutor should follow.
A good PUC economics tutor follows the prescribed textbook chapter by chapter, uses the board's model papers for timed practice, and teaches the habits every economics paper rewards: definitions in exact words, labelled diagrams, and numericals with the working shown. Tell us whether your child is in first or second PUC and which medium they write their answers in, so we match a tutor comfortable with it.
CBSE splits its 80 theory marks evenly in each year. Class 11 is Statistics for Economics (40) and Introductory Microeconomics (40); Class 12 is Introductory Macroeconomics (40) and Indian Economic Development (40). Inside macroeconomics, determination of income and employment carries 12 marks and national income 10, so the multiplier and national income numericals deserve steady practice. Statistics is often the surprise for students who dropped maths: the arithmetic is simple, but CBSE wants tabulated working and an interpretation of the result.
The CBSE project is a single piece of 3,500 to 4,000 words each session, marked for relevance (3), knowledge and research (6), presentation (3) and a viva (8). A tutor can explain the economics behind your child's topic and rehearse the viva; the research and writing must stay the student's.
ISC works differently. Three-quarters of the 80 theory marks come from 12-mark questions in Part II, so the skill to build is a complete, well-organised long answer finished inside the time. The Class 12 ISC syllabus covers microeconomic theory, income and employment, money and banking, balance of payments and exchange rates, public finance and national income.
Some Bengaluru students follow the IB Diploma or a Cambridge course instead of a national board. For the IB Diploma, the IBO sets two papers for SL (an extended response paper worth 30% and a data response paper worth 40%) and adds a policy paper for HL, with weightings of 20%, 30% and 30%. The internal assessment, 30% at SL and 20% at HL, is a portfolio of three commentaries on news extracts, each drawn from a different unit and using a different key concept. A tutor can practise the commentary skill on other articles and explain the criteria; IB academic-integrity rules forbid them from writing any part of the portfolio. Our IB tutors in Bengaluru page covers the wider Diploma.
Cambridge students meet a step change between AS and A Level. AS essays come in two parts that guide the structure; A Level essays in Paper 4 are unstructured, so the student plans the argument alone. A tutor who has marked A Level essays can teach that planning directly. IGCSE students mainly need precise vocabulary and tidy diagrams for the structured paper.
The NTA's 2026 CUET (UG) bulletin lists Economics / Business Economics as domain subject 309: 50 questions, all compulsory, in 60 minutes, on the NCERT Class 12 syllabus. PUC and ISC students should check which NCERT topics their own course treats differently. Preparation is mostly fast recognition and short calculations, built on board work. Check the bulletin for the year your child applies.
Families in any neighbourhood can ask for a home tutor. Whether one can visit every week depends on the route, and where it does not work, online lessons with a tutor from elsewhere in the city or the country fill the gap.
In Koramangala, HSR and Bellandur, societies along Sarjapur Road recognise a tutor who comes at the same slot each week, so keep it fixed. Jayanagar, JP Nagar and Banashankari, including Basavanagudi, are easiest with the stage or phase and cross numbers in the address. In BTM, Bannerghatta Road and Electronic City, older layout houses mean a doorstep visit while towers need a gate entry.
Indiranagar and Old Airport Road tutors often come by bus to the Domlur terminus or by metro and auto. Whitefield, Marathahalli and KR Puram lessons fit most easily between school and the office rush on ITPL Road and the ORR, or with one session online.
Hennur, Kalyan Nagar and Banaswadi has block and cross numbers that make houses in Kalyan Nagar easy to find; mention where a two-wheeler can stand. In Hebbal, RT Nagar and Yelahanka, RT Nagar's market lanes call for a landmark with the block number.
In Malleshwaram, Rajajinagar and Yeshwanthpur, Rajajinagar is a short way from a Green Line station. Vijayanagar, RR Nagar and Kengeri apartment complexes, RR Nagar among them, keep visitor lists. In Frazer Town, Richmond Town and Ulsoor, the Frazer Town shopping streets fill in the evening, so an afternoon slot is easier.
Our north Bengaluru and west and central Bengaluru guides go further, and the Bengaluru page lists every area.
Economics moves online more comfortably than most subjects. Diagrams can be drawn on a shared whiteboard, a news story can be read together on screen, and an essay can be marked before the next lesson. Online lessons also widen the pool for IB HL or A Level, where a specialist who has taught the exact course may live far from your home. Home lessons remain the better fit for a student who drifts on screen, and for Class 11 statistics, where a tutor watching the pencil catches arithmetic slips at once. Many Bengaluru families do both with the same tutor.
If the answers are mostly no, tell us and we line up the next tutor on your shortlist.

Tell us the course and year, which part is weakest (definitions, diagrams, numericals or evaluation), your neighbourhood, suitable times, and home, online or a mix. We send two or three matched tutors with fees, the first class is a free demo, and switching tutor later is free. Tutors who join go through an ID check before their profile is marked Verified.

Yes, on request. Tell us whether your child is in first or second PUC, the subject combination and the medium of answers. We look for tutors who teach from the prescribed textbook and practise with the board's model papers, and any detail of the paper or dates should be checked in the board's official notices.
The 2026-27 CBSE curriculum gives Introductory Macroeconomics 40 marks and Indian Economic Development 40 marks in the theory paper, with 20 more for a project of 3,500 to 4,000 words. Income determination and national income are the heaviest macroeconomics units, so their numericals reward regular practice with a tutor.
We can look, and online lessons widen the search to tutors across India who have taught the exact course. HL adds Paper 3, a policy paper, to the two papers SL students sit. A tutor can coach the IA commentary skill on practice articles but must never write any part of the portfolio.
Economics suits online lessons well: diagrams go on a shared whiteboard, articles are read together, and essays come back marked. Home lessons suit students who lose focus on screen and Class 11 statistics, where slips are easier to catch beside the student. Many Bengaluru families use the same tutor for both.
Families anywhere can ask for a home tutor, and we look nearby first. Register the tutor with the security desk, share the tower and flat number, and keep the same weekly slot so the guard recognises them. If the trip across the Outer Ring Road is unreliable, one online session a week helps.
ISC Economics (856) has an 80-mark paper with 20 marks of compulsory short answers, then five questions from eight at 12 marks each, plus two 10-mark projects. Because 60 marks sit in long answers, a tutor should train complete answers under time rather than short notes alone.
