Tutors who join go through an ID check. Tell us the class, board and your area: we share two or three matched tutors, each with their fee, and the first class is a free demo, at home or online.
Book a free demo classAcross NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Tutors set their own fee, and you see each tutor's fee before the demo class.
Monthly example: 3 one-hour classes a week ≈ ₹9,600–₹32,500 a month (12–13 classes at ₹800–₹2,500 an hour). An example, not a quote: your tutor's own fee decides the real figure.

A Bengaluru JEE aspirant rarely struggles for lack of material. Coaching hands out sheets by the kilo. What runs short is time and the right person for the gap: a physics doubt that has sat unsolved since Tuesday, organic reactions learnt as a list, calculus that still feels shaky in Class 12. Bengaluru adds two complications of its own: a school mix that ranges from the Karnataka PUC to the IB Diploma, and a city where the Outer Ring Road can decide whether a weekday lesson happens at all. This page covers both. For the exam pattern itself, the subject split and the one-tutor-or-three question, start with our national JEE home tutor guide.
The National Testing Agency's 2026 bulletin describes JEE (Main) Paper 1 as one three-hour computer-based test: 25 questions in each of mathematics, physics and chemistry (20 multiple-choice, 5 with a numerical answer), 300 marks, four for a right answer and one deducted for a wrong one in either section. It ran in two sessions, January and April, and the better score counted. Students then had to be among the 2,50,000 highest-ranked in Paper 1 to sit JEE (Advanced), two compulsory three-hour papers set by the IITs. Rules change from year to year, so read the current bulletin on jeemain.nta.nic.in and the brochure on jeeadv.ac.in before you plan around any of this.
Most Bengaluru families who ask us for JEE help already have coaching in the week. The tutor's slot has to go around three fixed things: the school day, the coaching timetable and office traffic. The last one matters more here than in most cities. Traffic on the Outer Ring Road peaks in the morning and again from early evening; the Hebbal flyover funnels airport and office traffic; Electronic City's shift changes load Hosur Road at set hours. A tutor who is twenty minutes away at four o'clock can be an hour away at half past six.
| When | Use it for | Why it works here |
|---|---|---|
| Free weekday, straight after school | The main maths or physics session at home, 90 minutes | Lands before the ORR and flyover peaks; the student is still fresh |
| Coaching evening, after the class ends | A 30 to 40 minute online doubt slot | Nobody travels; the coaching sheet is still open on the desk |
| Saturday or Sunday morning | Full-length paper review or a long chapter rebuild | Quieter roads, so tutors from further away can come |
| Weekday daytime | Repeat-year students | Off-peak travel opens up tutors from across the city |
Fix the tutor slot after the coaching timetable is known, and keep it on a fixed weekday. A tutor who rides the metro can then plan the journey once and keep it.
For JEE the subject specialist matters more than the shortest distance, so the useful question is how a good tutor will get to you. In Bengaluru that mostly comes down to whether your home is near a working metro station. The Purple Line runs east to west, the Green Line north-west to south, and the Yellow Line has served Hosur Road down to Electronic City since August 2025. The Pink and Blue lines are still being built.
| Zone | How tutors usually arrive | What suits a JEE student |
|---|---|---|
| Koramangala, HSR and Bellandur | Yellow Line to Central Silk Board and an auto for Koramangala and HSR; road only for Bellandur and Sarjapur Road | A tutor from your side of the ORR; weekend home session plus online doubts |
| Jayanagar, JP Nagar and Banashankari (e.g. Kumaraswamy Layout) | Green Line, with the Yellow Line one change away | Two shorter home sessions a week are realistic |
| BTM, Bannerghatta Road and Electronic City (e.g. Bannerghatta Road) | Yellow Line along Hosur Road; road travel on Bannerghatta Road until the Pink Line opens | Slots away from shift changes; on Bannerghatta Road, consider one online session |
| Indiranagar and Old Airport Road (e.g. Domlur) | Purple Line to Indiranagar, then an auto or the Domlur bus terminus | After-school home sessions before 100 Feet Road fills up |
| Whitefield, Marathahalli and KR Puram (e.g. KR Puram) | Purple Line through KR Puram to Whitefield; Marathahalli by road | Near a station, a metro-riding specialist; around Marathahalli, a tutor from your side of the ORR |
| Hennur, Kalyan Nagar and Banaswadi (e.g. Hennur) | Bus, two-wheeler or cab; no metro in the zone yet | A local tutor for weekday visits, an online specialist for the hardest subject |
| Hebbal, RT Nagar and Yelahanka | Road, or train to Yelahanka Junction | A tutor on your side of the Hebbal flyover |
| Malleshwaram, Rajajinagar and Yeshwanthpur (e.g. Sadashivanagar) | Green Line from Sampige Road to Yeshwanthpur; Sadashivanagar via a Malleshwaram stop and an auto | Wide choice of tutors arriving by metro from the south |
| Vijayanagar, RR Nagar and Kengeri | Purple Line west along Mysore Road | Mid-evening slots once Mysore Road eases |
| Frazer Town, Richmond Town and Ulsoor | Purple Line for Ulsoor; Frazer Town by road or metro and an auto | Afternoon or early-evening home sessions |
Every area and zone is listed on our Bengaluru home tuition page. When you send a request, give the block, stage or tower along with the nearest station, so travel is judged on real numbers rather than a pin on a map.
The three subjects do not need the same format, and splitting them sensibly lets a family use a stronger specialist without paying for a long journey every time.
| Subject | Better at home when | Works online when |
|---|---|---|
| Mathematics | Long calculus or coordinate problems where the tutor needs to watch each line of working | Timed problem drills and test reviews, with a phone camera on the notebook |
| Physics | The student is stuck on how to start a problem, which is easier to see across a table | Clearing a coaching doubt list on a weekday evening |
| Chemistry | Physical chemistry numericals early in Class 11 | Inorganic and organic revision, reaction maps, quick recall checks |
In zones with no working metro, such as Hennur or Bellandur, that split often decides whether you get the subject specialist at all. Our home and online tutor comparison covers the general trade-offs.
The NTA writes its own syllabus, and it sits close to the NCERT books rather than to any one school board. That makes the board your child studies under the first thing a tutor needs to know.
For board-side help in the same subjects, see our Bengaluru pages for maths, physics and chemistry home tutors.
| Stage | Board side | JEE side | Typical rhythm |
|---|---|---|---|
| First PUC or Class 11 | Keep pace with college or school tests; note where the state or school book stops short of the NTA unit | Mechanics, basic calculus, mole concept; an error log from the first month | Two to three sessions a week across subjects |
| Second PUC or Class 12 | Board-style written answers in the weeks before preliminary and board exams | New chapters plus Class 11 revision; timed full papers well before the January session | Three to five sessions, some short and online |
| Repeat year | Usually none, which frees weekday daytime | Diagnose last year's papers, rebuild the costliest chapters, many full-length tests | Daytime home sessions; weekends for papers |
The pressure point for PUC students is the second year, when the board's own exams and the first JEE session arrive close together. A tutor who has planned the overlap from the first term saves weeks of scramble. For a repeat year, check eligibility first: the 2026 documents allowed JEE (Main) for students who passed Class XII in the two previous years, and JEE (Advanced) for at most two attempts in consecutive years. Confirm the current rules before committing.
Topic-level plans are in our guides to JEE maths, JEE physics and JEE chemistry by branch, and the JEE physics tutor page walks through a physics session.
If the fit is wrong, say so and we set up the next demo; changing tutor later is free too. Tutors who join NXTutors go through an ID check before their profile is marked Verified, and you can browse tutor profiles yourself.
Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Tutors set their own fee, and a tutor crossing the ORR at peak time may quote differently for home and online. Every shortlisted fee is on the profile before the demo. Our Bengaluru fees guide and the pricing guide explain how the figure moves.
Tell us the class, board, target (Main alone, or Advanced too), the subjects that need help, the coaching days and your layout or tower. We send two or three matched tutors and you book a free demo class. If medicine is the goal, read our NEET home tutor in Bengaluru page instead. Physics, maths and chemistry teachers in the city can see open requests on Bengaluru tuition jobs.
Yes. The tutor should know which NTA units the college covers in each term, where the state textbook stops short of the JEE syllabus, and how to keep board answers and objective practice from clashing in the second PUC year. Take the board's own scheme and dates only from its official notices.
Straight after school on a non-coaching day, or a weekend morning, keeps a home session clear of the Outer Ring Road and Hebbal flyover peaks. On coaching evenings, a short online slot for doubts works better than asking a tutor to drive across the city. Keep the same slot every week.
Homes near a working metro station: the Purple Line from Whitefield to Kengeri, the Green Line through Malleshwaram and Jayanagar, and the Yellow Line down Hosur Road. Hennur, Bellandur and parts of Bannerghatta Road still depend on road travel, so a nearby tutor or a hybrid plan suits them better.
Not necessarily. Maths and physics gain most from a tutor watching the working at the table. Chemistry revision, reaction maps and test reviews work well online. Splitting the subjects this way often lets a family choose a stronger specialist, because the tutor travels only for the sessions where being in the room matters.
Coaching gives the syllabus plan, the test series and the peer benchmark. A tutor helps when coaching is not turning into test scores: unsolved sheet questions pile up, one subject lags, or a board exam is close. The tutor should work from the student's own mistakes, not repeat the coaching lecture.
Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour, with JEE toward the upper end and JEE Advanced specialists able to charge more. Tutors set their own fee, and a long cross-city trip at peak hours can affect a home quote. You see each fee before the demo.
